I've enjoyed Harry Hamlin here. Ted Danson is great and I look forward to seeing him in something again soon. (There's almost zero chance that CSI is back next season, so he should pop up somewhere...). I'll make sure to see The One I Love... Photos - I think Megan looks especially beautiful. |

I used to have such a crush on Harry Hamlin, back in the LA Law Days. On Mad Men, he has been excellent as someone I am supposed to loathe. But no more crush. |

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/mad-men-uncensored-epic-never-780101 I wouldn't mind a 70s-set Sally spin-off a few years from now, but really only if Weiner and Shipka wanted to do it. Ha... Second casting choice for Don was... GL's doctor that cloned Reva... |

http://www.tvinsider.com/article/906/mad-men-oral-history/ http://www.tvinsider.com/article/875/mad-men-exclusive-photos-season-6-jon-hamm-and-elisabeth-moss/ Pare's spinoff pitch >> It's kind of like the plot of Three's Company, only it's Pete and Ted and Megan. I would enjoy that show. Weiner, re: any spinoff >> I'm not interested. And I won't budge on that. I love that this is it. If people are left wanting more, then you did your job right. Okay. Fine. I accept that. But I still think mid-70s Sally could be an awesome show... |

There's a part of me that's ready to just get this over with. It's not that I don't want to see more of the show, more that I'm getting annoyed with all the ruckus making it sound like the greatest show on Earth is coming to an end. |

I know what you mean, bilki. I think that there is a real danger in giving the public all of the inside info and insight to all of the players, particularly Weiner, who comes across as having the show really, really go to his head. FWIW, I give much more credit to the actors than to the writer. With a less capable, talented and charming cast, I don't think the show would have lasted more than a season or two. It reminds me of the old saying: Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt. Only I would not say that Weiner is a fool: clearly he is not. But I don't think he's a nice person and I don't think he's as talented as he thinks he is. I read about Jon Hamm, too. Not surprising but still...I hope that he stays sober. |

Bilki, ITA with your sentiments. I will watch but really don't care. Husband I'd boycotting the show. He says it's been too long, he doesn't recall where they left off and by the time he gets back with it, it will be done. This is like watching a movie 90% then waiting a year to see the last 20 minutes. Also this is so over hyped it is ridiculous. |

Tgir - Yeah, sometimes I'll see 'oh, I've seen too many of these ____' and think 'hm, maybe I shouldn't put up that many links to ___', but I do like to 'archive' them for ME, so... I figure anybody disinterested can easily skip 'em... Where we left off - man walked on the moon, Bert died, and the company was sold, making the partners wealthy and Don still on-board... |

For my part, I've become very wary of big name writers and directors and producers getting too big with enormous budgets and egos to match (cough cough Peter Jackson and George Lucas ) and have the actual work collapse under the weight of all of that ego and certainty. I appreciate that you post things to archive them--I do as well although it tends to be more personal stuff... |

Obviously, I archive the personal things, too.. I'm so glad that Lucas isn't involved in the future of Star Wars. I am displeased with the thought of an Indiana Jones recast (as much as I like Chris Platt, I'd be so much MORE comfortable with the thought of him being a recast of Shia's guy in the fourth than Indy) and I really hope Disney doesn't do that. I reserve judgment on the Hobbit trilogy until I actually see them... I haven't even seen Jackson's King Kong yet... but I didn't 'love' LOTR like a lot of people did, either. I respect the achievement, but it wasn't really 'my thing', I think... Going by MM alone (or tossing in his Sopranos work, too), I think Weiner is every bit the genius he's been praised as. But yes, nowhere near as likable a fellow as, say, peer Big TV Showrunner Genius Vince Gilligan. There's some... satisfaction(?)... in seeing Weiner get knocked down a bit by the mixed-to-negative reviews for his first film (that said, I still want to see it, of course...). But Gilligan is a guy you wanna be friends with, he's just so cool IN ADDITION to being an extraordinary storyteller... I like and respect Stephen King's work, like what I know of him personally, and share his taste/opinions on a great many things. He doesn't like Mad Men AT ALL. It's okay. |

I totally hated LOTR, I did not read the books either. Well, I started the first and didn't like it. I don't like Fantasy books or movies, but love Sci Fi and sometimes that is a fine line. If it seems cartoony I automatically hate it. I loved the first Star Wars but hated the rest. I really won't get excited about any future ones. I was very pessimistic about Star Trek and ended up really liking the young recasts. Really, pretty much all of them. I have no urge to see King Kong, I didn't even like the original. We did see Godzilla though, it was moderately dumb but at least it did not look like a plastic toy tramping on a fake city. Of course those old corny original films had their charms. I love King and I agree with him on most issues. I follow him on FB. But I did not know he doesn't watch MM. |

You didn't like The Empire Strikes Back, the second (or, um, fifth) Star Wars? But that's the best one... and I like Return of the Jedi a lot, too, though I know a lot of Ewok-haters... I liked the first of the new Star Treks, haven't seen the second yet. Agree that the recasts are good. Star Wars is in very good hands, I think. |

Off-topic can be fun. Yeah, those robotic monsters (most commonly 'snow walkers', or AT-ATs if you're something of a Star Wars geek (I was eight years-old, and cried and cried because Han was frozen in carbonite at the end...), or All Terrain Armored Transports if you're REALLY a Star Wars geek - I didn't know, but google is a friend...) were at the beginning of Empire. Awesome sequence. And the introduction to Yoda, and Lando, and the good guys lost at the end... you probably liked it. It's a good movie, and quite a bit less cheesy than the first one. You probably didn't like the prequel trilogy, and that's TOTALLY okay... it wasn't good, but I liked a few things about it (Natalie Portman is hot... I'm an Ewan MacGregor fan...). I loved the way those snow walkers (and ED-209, the thing that hilariously shoots up the boardroom, a 'glitch', in Robocop) move... stop-motion animation, Phil Tippett's work, so much cooler to me than most modern CGI. I supported his 'Mad God' Kickstarter, got signed blu-rays and a miniature prop... /okay,fine,backon-topic,then... |

I'm glad I watched parts of the marathon to get back in the mindset of the show and be reminded of some of the plot points. Was Rachel Katz the one Don tried to get to run away with him and she basically chastised him for being a child? I liked her. So the waitress at the diner was just a reminder of Rachel? I thought maybe she was going to be someone from his childhood. Good grief, who has sex in an alley on their smoke break? LMAO! Maybe I'm just a big prude? It was refreshing to see Peggy get a little romance in her life. But of course, she had to diminish the experience the next day. Sounds like something I would do. I liked what Peggy said to Joan about having so much money Joan could do whatever she wanted. I wonder if Joan thought getting all that money would make her life easier. When you don't have money it's easy to think that getting a bunch of it will solve your problems. Poor Ken. His "GOTCHA" scene with Roger and Pete was fun but it's sad he's passing up an opportunity to pursue his dream just for a bit of revenge. His wife was even offering to help him move out to the country! I'd take that offer. Those moustaches were terrible! Edited by bilki, Apr 5 2015, 11:36 PM.

Yes, that's Rachel Menken (Katz after she got married). First season, Pete threatening Don with Dick Whitman, Don says "let's run away" and she declined... They bumped into each other a couple years later, she'd gotten married... Maggie Siff was a regular in the first season... It had been bothering me, but no, Elizabeth Reaser (waitress Diana) hadn't been on the show before, so... Yeah, just made Don think of Rachel, maybe... (or Midge... several are saying she resembles her..) Hope Ken gives the new job a year or so, has some fun watching Pete squirm, and then quits... Yeah, he should be writing... Just did an odd triple bill of cancer stories... Nashville 3.15 with Deacon telling Rayna about his cancer, the season finale of Shameless with a suicide of a young doctor with terminal cancer, and now Rachel here with leukemia... Kinda made me think of Tony Soprano learning of ex-mistress Gloria's death... "I'm supposed to tell you you missed your flight" sounds a little ominous... Mustaches were funny. The 60s are over... April of 1970 now. Poor Peggy. Yeah, if only her passport hadn't been at the office... I laughed big when she said okay to Mathis and then almost changed her mind when he said his brother-in-law's name was 'Stevie'... |

'Stevie' was Brian Krakow! I knew he looked familiar but didn't realize why until someone on HitFix said it. I was a big My So Called Life fan. |
