Boo's dance partner Carl reminds me of Ginsberg on Mad Men.

Fanny/Sasha fight was good.

Love the title of next week's - 'No One Takes Khaleesi's Dragons'.

I don't get that quote you reference Dax, in the title, what do you mean?

It was nice seeing Kent from SYTYCDance on this last episode.

It's a Game of Thrones thing.

I didn't recognize Kent - was he Sasha's partner? Or just one of the guys in the room?...

Yes Kent was Sasha's partner when they did the Fred and Ginger routine. I have the Game of Thrones first four books in paperback haven't yet read any of it.

Bloss the point of the phrase is that The Khaleesi is the princess, and if you mess with her you will go down. She loves her dragons more than ANYTHING, so, if you mess with the dragons you die.

I wonder, is Michelle the Khaleesi or is Fanny???

or?

Think it's almost certainly in reference to the Sasha/Fanny conflict (wherein I'd expect Michelle to play the 'peacemaker' role), but the plot description also says Michelle's gonna be clashing with an award-winning barista (which is our Sean Gunn/Kirk-from-GG appearance, I think, which would just be perfect), so it could probably be either of them...

Renewed (or at least extended). Whew.

Ausiello didn't have the exact number, but it's rumored to be eight, and >> expected to resume production in October and return on air in early ’13.

Fun calamity at the Nutcracker. Enjoyed the little Hubble visit (though the droning sound effect in the background was so close to the sound of the Twin Peaks dreams that it was distracting me) and the Dead Poets bit, but I was very glad that wasn't a series finale (because it would be, you know, too sad).

Such a welcome and fun return.

Kelly Bishop is one of those could-be-great-reading-a-phone-book people for me.

Michael DeLuise (Michelle's magician boss) another GG/Bunheads crossover cast, he was T.J., Luke's brother-in-law.

I really enjoyed the return episode, even though I felt the writing for Michelle was a bit too harsh. I agree KB is terrific.

But this isn't a renewal yet, right? I read a local blurb that says the held they core demos, but no word on overall numbers, which has to improve for a new season. And some commentary from ASP about Dance Moms/Bunheads, and the peril of producing quality TV. gulp.

I really liked last nite's episode. The balance between A-B-C stories is better, and the 'theme,' if you will, connecting them is better. I really like Boo's story a lot. The 'new kids' intro was handled humorously and cute.

No, link is to a good new Amy interview... some good stuff on network notes and how they're not ALWAYS a bad thing (she was advised to put the first Friday night dinner in the GG pilot, for instance, and that was right) and why most tv is mediocre, even a bit of insight on why ABC's 'V' sucked.

Fingers crossed for a renewal... this run is 8 (added to last summer's 10; 18 for 'Season 1').

I liked last night's, but missed Fanny.

Cosette (the new girl) is known to we SYTYCD watchers... Jeanine Mason. She's awesome.

I love Liza Weil.

As she did on GG, Alex Borstein has now had two Bunheads roles (she was seen at Michelle's motel in the pilot, now she's Carl's Mom; on GG, the inn's harpist and later Emily's stylist - had MadTV released her from her contract, she'd have been Sookie instead of Melissa McCarthy...). And it's funny, because prior to watching Bunheads last night, I watched the season premiere of Shameless (for which Borstein is a writer/producer) and an episode of Family Guy (she's Lois)... I did an unintentional triple bill of her work.

I'm definitely rooting against the ABC Family shows debuting in June...

Definitely the bubble show I'm most concerned about and would be the most upset to lose... although, really, I can't think of anything else I've GOT on the bubble, at all, right now... news of this is the only thing I'm really waiting on.

I feel like Parks & Rec is safe.

I feel like Community is not... and I'm okay with that...

Bad enough when Amy's husband was saying they didn't currently have an office, but... no, if the sets have been taken down, that's really probably not a good thing (but on the optimistic side - no, they ARE often taken DOWN between seasons - space is at a premium at a lot of studios - but if they've been DESTROYED, well... that's different...).

Worried, but article writer is right - not having a 'no' yet DOES provide room for hope...

I wouldn't think it's that expensive a show... doesn't seem too high-risk a money prospect... c'mon, let us have some more... pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease....

-

The Tommy Lee Jones impression-off was one of my and Crystal's favorite huge laughs of the season, 'I like ranch chips' being one of our last favorite quotes for any occasion, to make each other smile...

-

Pretty sure I saw Liza Weil at the Neil Gaiman event last week. I didn't say hi because I was blanking on her name and didn't want to be one of 'those' people that calls her Paris...

Sad, but not unexpected.

Sigh.

No 'Complete Series' dvd yet, but I'll want one...

I thought the show was uneven in the second half of the first season. Since Twisted and especially The Fosters had such high ratings this wasn't too surprising.

I would be disappointed when Kelly Bishop wasn't in an episode, but overall, I think it was getting stronger. The four girls certainly became better at speaking 'Amy' as they went along.

Very charming piece of work. I'll miss it.

And look forward to whatever Sherman-Palladino does next.

And it'll be fun to track the careers of Kaitlyn Jenkins (Boo), Julia Goldani Telles (Sasha), Bailey Buntain (Ginny), and Emma Dumont (Melanie).

18 fun episodes. It was a lot like getting a new season of Gilmore Girls.

Coda. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV9-QxQI2Ew

http://www.buzzfeed.com/kateaurthur/bunheads-goodbye-dance-video

The beautiful Bunheads now has a beautiful goodbye for and thank you to its fans.

Some key members of the Bunheads cast and the show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, got together on Aug. 17 to film this farewell dance. Set to Elton John’s “Blues for Baby and Me,” the choreography, by Marguerite Derricks (as always), is a callback to some of the show’s most notable dances. Sherman-Palladino directed the video.

Most memorably — and for some, tearfully — Sasha’s (Julia Goldani Telles) angry/triumphant dance to “Istanbul (Not Constantinople)” is featured. Unfortunately, the show’s star, Sutton Foster, wasn’t available for the performance. But you’ll see Telles (Sasha), Bailey Buntain (Ginny), Kaitlyn Jenkins (Boo, who couldn’t perform because of an injury), and Jeanine Mason (Cozette).

ABC Family canceled Bunheads last month after an extended purgatorial waiting period after its first season ended in the winter.

It should perhaps be a literal crime for this show not to have found a large enough audience to stay on the air. While those of us who loved Bunheads work on getting that criminalizing legislation passed, at least we have this video for now.

Here are the full credits for the video:
Bailey Buntain (Ginny)
Julia Goldani Telles (Sasha)
Kaitlyn Jenkins (Boo/non-performing due to injury)
Jeanine Mason (Cozette)
Other dancers:
Matisse Love
Ra’Jahnae “Rae Rae” Patterson
Colleen Craig
Maine Kawashima
Eli Gruska
Adam Bernstein
Edgar Khachaturov
Kara Hess
Micah Moch

Choreographed by Marguerite Derricks
Directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino
Director of Photography: Kevin Atkinson
Fairy Godmother and Godfather: Helen Pai and Jackson Douglas
