Did a marathon with the kid so she could catch up on all the 2nd half of Season 5. Awesome watching it all again. I kept looking over at my daughter to get her reaction. I found it strange that she was rooting for Walt more than Jesse because she is such a HUGE Jesse fan. I could see how conflicted she was thought the whole viewing. Then we finish last weeks episode and she went crazy because she had to wait 1 hour for the next episode. I won't even tell you how upset she was last night after the latest episode. The kid doesn't have patience. Last night episode was great. So how long do we figure Walt's been in the cabin? I thought one of hardest parts was listening to the guy explain how Skyler and the kids were doing while Walt's just sitting in the cabin. The phone call with Walt Jr./Walt was brutal. WOW. I personally would have given up a long time ago. Ashley wasn't 100% sure (I need to go back and watch) that the guys who caught Jesse at the fence Todd and company. She's thinking it was SWAT or something. Hum. Todd's obsession with Lydia ... CREEPY. Poor hubby didn't get to see last nights episode because he was at a hotel and no AMC. I'm going to try and get it to him today ... somehow. Anna Gunn looked AMAZING last night. They all looked great! |

Based on Holly's age being stated as 18 months in the Amber Alert in last week's show... and the 50-to-52 stretch, and Holly being born towards the end of Season 2 (couple month span there, I think), Walt was probably at the cabin for 3 or 4 months... We don't see their faces, but no, that was Todd and Jack's crew catching Jesse. Were it SWAT, the next thing we'd be seeing would not be the murder of Andrea. I hope Jesse survives. |

I'm dying for Walt to kick these Nazis' ass once and for all. It's unbelievable how these writers can toy with our will to root for someone. Gretchen being the catalyst for Heisenberg's comeback was super fun. I'm now reading an E-Book: The Philosophy behind Breaking Bad. Such an interesting read, I recommend it to you. I'm now convinced - even though it was extremely obvious - that Walt is going to die in the finale (yeah, I know... 'duh!'), hope/think Jesse will survive. |

http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2013/09/24/meet-the-composer-behind-the-eerie-breaking-bad-theme/ Sometimes there's a lot I want to read, but no time to do it... and I don't wanna have a gazillion windows open (tend to do that a little too often, anyway, and then I slow everything down), or bookmark everything... so it's good to pin the best stuff down here... I don't have time to listen to all the BB podcasts, though I'd like to... I do intend to watch the extra 15 min segments of Talking Bad, but haven't done that yet... hope they're still up... Awesome poster work -- http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2013/09/24/meet-the-composer-behind-the-eerie-breaking-bad-theme/ |

Tell me about it! I have a precise folder in my bookmarks, named "For the day I have some spare time" > so it's good to pin the best stuff down here... That is the exact same thing I do with my Facebook wall posting the links I need to keep in mind LOL Dax, I usually read the articles/listen to podcast when I'm in the bus, or in the metro, or queuing and stuff :) They're actually of help. BTW if any of you wants to share FB, I'm there :) |

That's my FB name as well, I think you should be able to find me :-) Gilligan's new project doesn't sound too thrilling to me, but then again I passed BB for years because I kept reading it was just the story of a chemistry teacher turned drug-dealer and thought it wouldn't interest me, so of course I'm curious to see what he has in store. He has set the bar very very high, though. Edited by Aback, Sep 26 2013, 04:37 AM.

I'm not gonna think of this one (or 'Better Call Saul', which Peter Gould will run) as Gilligan's 'new project' (I mean, sure, if he directs the pilot, it WILL be that, but...). Article reads like it's gonna be David Shore's House follow-up, but Gilligan is just the creator/will-have-an-EP-credit-but-not-work-on-day-to-day ... fun that after the thing has laid dormant and dusty for more than a decade, he's gonna get network money for it now... No, a show about two detectives with different worldviews paired together in Michigan doesn't sound fascinating in and of itself, but I will be interested to see what clever twists there are on it... I don't trust that I'll love it, but sure, I will be checking out anything that Gilligan's name goes on... Four came up. You are the freelance interpreter/life coach? |

Yes that's me :-) Life coach is just Facebook sillyness on my part... gotta remove it some day LOL I agree it's interesting having Gilligan work for a network. He admitted that the 12-episode-format of cable kinda helps writers keep it interesting. I see there's a 13-episode arc here, so that's consistent of him. I'm just appalled at how many detective/crime shows CBS has. It's kinda scary if you think about it. |

Most network shows get a 13 episode order to start... in success, they generally get 9 more added on, to total 22. The rarity here is the straight-to-series order, that they didn't do a pilot first... it's not cast-contingent... it's immediately a 'go'. That doesn't happen very often. CBS, of course, is very successful in its formula. I don't watch a lot of CBS programs (but I love The Good Wife and like Person of Interest), but many, many people do... |

OK, so I had watched the first 3, then banked the last 4. I am still banking last week's to watch before the finale this Sunday. I have to say I am glad I did that, as I get so worked up epoito epi and can't stand the suspense. We watched no 4 Tues along with SOA, then 5 and 6 last night, the gun battle, and Walt taking Holly. I thought Walt behaved uncharacteristically stupid believing that Jesse was out there burning the money. Somehow I knew though, that Hank catching him was not the end of that. I knew Hank was to be killed (unfortunaetly, someone had mentioned this), but it was still powerful. I also thought Walt was uncharacteristically stupid telling the guys where the money was, as there was NO chance they would let Walt live. The last call to Marie, was sooooooo sad. Thought Sky was stupid to let Marie bully her into telling Walt Jr. Also out of character. If the gun battle wasn't bad enough, Walt's stealing the kid was over the top. He was trying to get Sky out of trouble I think but still. The knife fight put me over the top, anyone could have been seriously injured, including Walt Jr or the baby. Wow. I was so nervous I had to have some wine, then knocked the damn glass over during the gun battle. I have never had a show get me so involved. Maybe that is a good thing. |

>> Thought Sky was stupid to let Marie bully her into telling Walt Jr. Also out of character. Not at all. Short of slitting Marie's throat (THAT would have been out of character), there was nothing Skyler could do to stop her. Marie was going to tell Junior. Skyler could be in the conversation or not, but she couldn't stop it from happening at that point. Walt wasn't 'stupid' in giving up the money (unless you think the money is more important than Hank)... he was desperate enough TO sacrifice the money to save Hank. Of course, it didn't matter, but... that was Walt's shot at redemption. He DID put family first. I liked that Walt bought Jesse and Hank's trick with the money. I thought that worked very well, and I thought the set-up was plausible enough that Walt would buy it... The big 'oh, no, don't do that!' screaming from me came when he's giving the Nazis the coordinates to the meet. That, of course, he really, really ought not to have done. |

Well, I understand putting family first and Walt not wanting them to kill Hank, but how did he ever think they wouldn't???? Any of them were suitably crazy but even the red headed guy who killed the little boy for no reason, he alone would have been nuts enough to kill Hank. I would have pushed Marie physically out the door or just yelled at Walt Jr to take the car and leave. Watching him was really heart breaking. Could have actually ended it with Hank putting the cuffs on Walt, but we knew that wouldn't happen... |

I do wish we'd gotten to see what words the ladies chose to drop that bomb on Walt Jr. I don't think Todd would have killed Hank (if it were up to him... Uncle Jack orders it, sure, he's gotta, but...). Todd's respect for Walt is totally genuine. Todd didn't kill Drew Sharp 'for no reason'... he took his instructions of 'no witnesses' very much to heart. But you're right... like Hank said... "You're the smartest guy I ever met, and you're too stupid to see he made up his mind ten minutes ago." That outcome was never in doubt... but Walt DID have hope... and he and those he cares for HAVE survived some pretty impossible situations already, so... |

Good finale. Pretty straightforward. Maybe a little too convenient for my taste. I kept waiting for some part of Walt's plan to go off the rails. And with all the speculation that the ricin was for Lydia and the gun for Uncle Jack and friends, it felt like there were no big surprises. My favorite moment was when Walt told Skyler he liked doing what he did and that it made him feel alive. |
