Can't wait for ths show but so sad we have to wait for the last 8 and even sadder that they will be the last. This is the best TV, maybe ever.

So good!

Happy to see more of Lydia. I really like that neurotic mess.

The scene at the motel was a bit David Lynch-like. Walt staring at and pondering over the origin of the crappy painting on the wall while the guys discuss killing the 9, or is it 10? Todd's uncle snaps at him. I could almost hear a tune from the Twin Peaks soundtrack in the background.

Crystal Blue Persuasion was too funny. So was Hank having his "Oh shit!" moment while he was taking a shit. I remember the W. W. conversation but can't remember the context. Was that something written by the chemist that Jesse had to kill?

Yeah, it's a book of Walt Whitman poetry Gale gave Walt. The inscription reads 'To my OTHER favorite W.W. It's an honour working with you. Fondly, G.B.' (Presumably - saw speculation under Sepinwall's review from a few people that imagine it was Gretchen that gave Walt the book, so it's not something Walt would think to conceal, but I think they're probably reaching... looked to me like the same handwriting that we saw of Gale's...)

The flashback conversation between Hank and Walt was about cryptic references to a W.W. in Gale's notebooks.

Such OhMyGodWhatIsGoingToHappen tension during the family get-together on the patio...

Those musical montages were both things of absolute beauty.

Sigh.

Eight more shows. Next summer.

I didn't think it was nearly as strong as last year's finale, after Mike's shooting, it really was kind of downhill for me. And how can Walter be out? You can't just stop with the cartel or whoever buying from you. Well, I will be anxious to see the rest...

I'm sad Mike is gone, but I really don't understand how anybody could be disappointed in this episode. SO much good stuff...

Skyler's 'How much is enough?' show-and-tell at the storage unit is a good argument... and the cancer may be back (we don't know for SURE, but...) The kids. There's enough money. There aren't any competitors to overcome.

Declan (that he's selling to here) and Lydia's Czech Republic clientele are concerns, sure - It's probably not THAT easy to say 'I'm out', but if he REALLY wants to retire (before dying), he ought to be able to figure out a way to do that...

Of course, Hank onto him now, finally... very big deal.

No,as Gilligan says I would have much preferred something exploding. Hank knew someone named WW was in the picture and even joked about it to Walt years ago. So why is this the light coming on now? Other than the guys getting stabbed in conert, I thought this was one of the least interesting episodes and for sure the weakest season ender by far.

Now I'm wondering how many were disappointed with the ending. Maybe I'll have to go over to Sepinwall's to see what they're saying. It's weird because earlier in the season I thought this half would end with something big. But I went into last night's episode with no expectations, so I was fine with the ending. I can see how some would be, though, especially because we have so few episodes left.

The thing about Hank seeing the W.W. is that it's not really evidence of anything. Even if it's Gale's writing, still doesn't make Walt a criminal. But, of course, now Hank is open to a new possibility. Do we know of any lingering evidence that would connect Walt to the meth? I'm guessing the second half of the season will be the cat-and-mouse game between Hank trying to connect Walt to the meth and Walt trying to throw him off. Isn't that what we've been waiting for?

>> So why is this the light coming on now?

It was an absurd notion before (and Gale's 'To W.W.' didn't necessarily mean ANYTHING...), and now...

>> Other than the guys getting stabbed in concert

Walt ordering the deaths of ten people in two minutes is a pretty big thing.

There's no better way they could have ended the (half) season (than giving Hank the lead on Walt)... a few weeks ago, I thought Skyler might die (last night), but with Mike going last week, I knew that wouldn't be happening so soon...

I'm looking forward to Sepinwall's post-finale interview with Vince Gilligan, which I think he said will happen tomorrow. There seemed to many comments on Alan's blog from those who were pissed that Hank found the book there on the back of the toilet, saying Walt would have never left it there. I can see their point, as I had a moment of thinking Walt would never leave a clue in such an obvious place while Hank was searching through the stack of magazines. I'm just not as angry about it as some others seem to be. I'm guessing that Alan will address the issue in some regard.

Getting closer... can't wait.

3 1/2 weeks to break each episode... sounds as though they're using every little piece of that extra time they got for these... we were not made to wait for no reason...

I am relieved to hear that there will be an ending. I HATED the Sopranos finale, and can think of almost nothing more frustrating than to have the show end without resolution.

I don't know about the law but I do believe the cancer will recur. Lung cancer is very serious business and stress depletes the immune system which is not a help to the battle against it.
I can see Walt getting arrested and then finding out he is terminal, or bro in law finding out and letting him get the slip somehow to live out a (few) remaining days with his family. I'd like to see Jesse get away somehow, and maybe Walt would protect him?

I don't see Skylar doing time, and I think Slippery Saul won't either.

I am anxious to see it but very sad that it is the last of the best show, maybe ever.

1:34 of cast playing around while in production on the final 8 (no spoilers) -

Loved Odenkirk in the most recent (9.16) episode of The Office, as Philly's 'Michael Scott'...

This is perfect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFjsOZDjnJA

(There's a Walking Dead one, too, and it's also fun, but not nearly as much so)

Thanks Dax for the video links. Very cute. I can't wait until the end but it sure will be bittersweet. I think they are definitely going out on a 'high' note.

But if this isn't called '5 part 1', but the final run ISN'T supposed to be called '6', then what do they call that final dvd release? 'The final season' or 'The rest of the Fifth Season' or... ?

Love Odenkirk; I would watch with great enthusiasm.

It's not at all surprising that AMC would want to stay in business with Vince Gilligan, and while this might be a sounds-easy-to-try, difficult-to-pull-off 'placeholder' type project (while he dreams up his next true masterpiece), it's better than waiting a long while for anything...

I don't see it or sadly anything, being another BB but sure, I would check it out. I love the character but I don't know if he could be a lead...

Even if it were to 'fail', it would not diminish (for me) the legacy of Breaking Bad, so I'm cool with their trying.

It might not work. But it COULD...

Gilligan, John Shiban, and Frank Spotnitz co-created the X-Files spinoff, The Lone Gunmen. It was an iffy idea (three nerdy conspiracy theorists and computer hackers - that's a show? Okay...), and a ratings failure. Creatively, though, it wasn't bad, and got better as it went along.

Saul Goodman is a very well-played-by-Odenkirk character, and they've really only scratched the surface of what we know of him. Saul-on-BB is fulfilling a function. I'd be interested in seeing a deeper exploration of who he is than we could ever get in a BB episode (that being Walt's story, and to a lesser extent, Jesse's).

The final eight episodes begin airing on 8/11.

And like 'The Talking Dead', there's going to be a 'Talking Bad'...

Very cool. Now I just have to clear my calendar to make sure I don't miss an episode. B-)

Ok, we have to wait until August. Fine. But I'm disappointed they'd run another season of that crapfest The Killing and push back BB.

I liked The Talking Dead when it was just a half hour, though it felt a bit rushed. But I couldn't make it through the whole show when they extended it to a full hour. Hopefully, they'll get a good host for the BB version.
