I'm hearing one of the most camptastic soap opera sequences in the genre's history just may be serving as inspiration for All My Children's September 23 ABC finale. While I won't spoil it entirely by revealing who's gonna do what to whom or where, I am hearing the finale could be reminiscent of Dynasty's Moldavian Massacre! If you'll recall, the guests at Amanda Carrington's (Catherine Oxengberg) wedding to Prince Michael of Moldavia (Michael Praed) during Dynasty's 1985 season ender were all gunned down. Fans had to wait to until the Season 6 opener to learn who lived or died. The plot was partially crafted to give producers an option to continue the show sans the mega popular Alexis Carrington Colby character, as actress Joan Collins was reportedly in protracted contract negotiations at the time. In the end, Collins re-upped with the sudser and Alexis and her shoulder pads survived. In fact, only Luke (Billy Campbell) the lover of Alexis' bisexual son Steven (Jack Coleman) and Lady Ashley (Love Story's Ali McGraw)—both minor characters—perished. As previously reported, I'm hearing Prospect Park wants to use the "Who Lives? Who Dies?" cliffhanger model to allow an explanation for why AMC may pick back up in January 2012 missing a few castmembers. While the Moldavian Massacre ranks up there with the Dallas dream season (Which ironically, I hear ABC Daytime briefly also considered cribbing from to restart the series following Chuck Pratt's disastrous stint as head writer) as one of primetime soap's most groan-worthy plots, it is notable that the storyline took Dynasty to No. 1 and 60 million viewers tuned in for the Season 6 premiere. Maybe Prospect Park is onto something? Watch the Moldavian Massacre from Dynasty after the jump! http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/2011/07/22/spoiler-alert-which-primetime-soap-cliffhanger-could-be-the-inspiration-for-all-my-childr Alicia Minshew insists that an online report pegging her as a no-go for the online version of AMC is false. "I have made absolutely no decision about appearing on ALL MY CHILDREN after its last TV episode because I know nothing!" the actress tells Digest. "I have not been spoken to at all [by the show's new owners, Prospect Park] and I have not told anyone that I am leaving. I don't know where that came from. The same story said that I'm tired of commuting between New York and L.A. For the record, I am not tired of commuting because I have never commuted — I live in Los Angeles now! I really do appreciate that people are taking an interest in me and Kendall and the future of the show," she adds. "But if they want to know, they should ask me!" http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/amcs-minshew-shoots-down-exit-rumors |

Thanks jbrr for the great spoilers and alerts. Sounds like they will be going out with a bang so to speak. I remember the Dynasty eppy and waiting for the series to begin the following season. I missed so many weeks of the show back during the trial and have not gotten caught back up yet. Can't wait for the baby reveal. That will be fun to watch. Wonder what they will do with Amanda being sick. Hope she doesn't die before the show ends. David is going to be dirty Dave all the way to the end it seems. |

As always you are most welcome! You really didnt miss a whole lot during the weeks of the trial, its been a lot of wash, rinse, repeat. I cant stand the guy they have playing Mayas bf and what kind of name is Mookie anyway...they need to wrap that up and make him go away. Loving the ladies of Oakhaven stuff, yes its campy and silly but its alot of fun. Janet from another planet is hysterical! Cant wait for someone to see Dixie. Not looking forward to Zachs return, I wish they'd leave Kendall with Griffin. This is the first time I can actually watch her without ff. With Adam gone David seems to be the default villain which is okay with me. Soaps need a villain and he fits the bill perfectly. Not sure where they are going with Amanda but the rumor was all along that she was leaving early. Theres still no confirmation though and she may have decided to stay til the end but it wouldnt shock me if they killed her off so Tad can reunite with Dixie and Jake with Cara. Especially after her talk with Jake about her wanting him to find someone else and remarry if she dies. Dying to see my Leo back on AMC. I know its only a visit and Rylee will be the endgame but I'll take anything I can get. Liking the change in Madison, though I still want her back with Scott. |

Soap Opera Source David manages to stay a step ahead of Ryan, despite the tracking device Greenlee is in danger Kendall refuses to believe that Zach is alive Zach has a seizure Amanda has a touching reunion with her mother Soapcentral Greenlee/Leo SOW article http://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8553135/1/ WEEKLY: Greenlee follows David out of town when he dangles the possibility that Leo may be alive. I joked to Vincent Irrizarry (David) that there isn't a woman in the world who wouldn't follow David under those circumstances! BUDIG: I know, right [laughs]? Greenlee really wants to get to the bottom of what David is up to and figure out what he's doing. And if it involves Leo, of course she can't drop it. He's the love of her life. WEEKLY: And then, under circumstances the show wants to be a surprise, it's Leo and Greenlee, together again! What was it like? BUDIG: Josh and I were both really nervous! Certainly, I'm more comfortable being there because I've been there forever, he's been off doing movies, so of course it's different. I wondered, "Is the chemistry going to be there?" But it was there. We really connected. He's amazing. WEEKLY: Were you happy with the script? BUDIG: I was. I was really pleased. I think they captured the rhythm of the way Leo and Greenlee talked to each other, but at the same time, so much time has passed, they can't just pick up where they left off. Somehow, they captured that. WEEKLY: A big part of the story at this juncture is that Greenlee is playing David and David is trying to figure out if she's playing him. How do you feel about how the Greenlee/David relationship has evolved? BUDIG: I'm kind of disappointed that they made Greenlee so anti-David now because he did save her life and he is Leo's brother. I don't like that she's so anti-David because really, I mean, Greenlee knows bad. She's not some good girl, although she tries to do the right thing now. That's the one thing that bothers me. But they have to wrap up a show that's been on over 40 years in a matter of like, five weeks. So they've gotta do what they've gotta do. Julia Barr (Brooke) interview http://www.welovesoaps.net/2011/07/juliabarr1.html Michael E. Knight interview All My Children's Michael E. Knight Reflects on Soap's Cancellation and the Return of Dixie He's the most famous and beloved rascal in all of soap history. But there's so much more to Michael E. Knight. As Tad (the former "Cad") Martin of ABC's All My Children — a role he won back in 1982 — the three-time Emmy winning Knight has emerged over the years as a consummate and deeply admired actor, equally gifted at comedy and tragedy, as well as a insightful statesman whose POV on the soap scene is both wise and heartfelt. TV Guide Magazine lunched with the actor to get his take on Tad's reunion with Dixie (Cady McClain), airing August 8, and of course AMC's fast approaching exit from ABC. TV Guide Magazine: I can certainly see why a Tad and Dixie reunion is best for the show as it prepares to leave the network and best for the fans — and I will probably love it and be blubbering like an idiot — but yet another return from the dead in Pine Valley? Isn't it this kind of been-there-done-that writing that has helped sink the genre? Knight: I agree with you about the back from the dead thing, but the fans deserve a happy ending. If this is our curtain call, then mazel tov! I'm glad Cady and I can take our final bow together. Yeah, she came back as an angel, but I don't care. I feel so blessed that the audience still wants us. [Laughs] After more than two decades together, Cady and I still look at each other and go, "What is this? How the hell did this happen?" Initially it was the luck of the draw. The stars and the story aligned and we ended up together. Now, as two performers with all these dings in our fenders, there's a richness to our relationship that feels so good and so natural. Sure, doing yet one more back-from-the-dead plot is like papering over the old wallpaper but, in this case, I'm totally at peace with it. TV Guide Magazine: And Tad's poor wife Cara [Lindsay Hartley] is just S.O.L.? When I first heard Cady was coming back to help wrap things up, I assumed — foolish me — that her spirit would show up and bless Tad and Cara's relationship and send them happily-ever-after into the sunset. You and Hartley make a terrific team. I think a lot of fans will miss seeing that relationship grow and unfold. Knight: The choice to bring Tad and Dixie back together was made before this whole internet thing happened, when a reunion seemed like the right thing to do. Would they have made this choice if they knew we might be going forward with the show? I don't know. But I feel very lucky to have Cady back. It's a nice thing for me personally and karmically. But at the same time I have to say that I'm very impressed with Lindsay Hartley and have really enjoyed working with her. She's a sweetheart and a damn good actress. Your heart just bleeds for her character. TV Guide Magazine: How did your emotions run during that period when there were so many cancellation rumors? Knight: There was so much anxiety around the studio. News outlets and websites would be saying it's all over for AMC and ABC would deny everything. And then, when it finally happened, it was almost a relief because we no longer had that Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads. It was more hurtful and annoying going to work waiting for that sword to fall. What's been really gratifying is finding out how much everyone still cares about us. I've done more publicity in the last two weeks than in the last 10 years! We know our show is not what it once was — or should be — but you wouldn't know it from the outcry of the fans, which has been huge. The interest and the energy generated by the cancellation have surprised everyone, including the network. There's been a collective reaction — not just from the viewers but from the press — that says this show still means a lot to people. Sure, maybe they haven't watched in 10 years or since they were in college but they're very upset that AMC was cancelled. "What do you mean it won't be on TV anymore?" [Laughs] You don't necessarily want to live with your mother but it's nice knowing she's still down the street. TV Guide Magazine: Were you at work the day the ax fell? And how does it feel when you wake up in the middle of the night and realize that this legendary show — as we know it — will soon be over? Knight: I wasn't in the studio when [ABC Daytime chief] Brian Frons came down and made the announcement. I had a late call that day and I'm glad I wasn't there, but I walked into the studio an hour after it happened. There were a lot of tears. People were angry, sad, in shock, whatever. Then it became a little surreal. We shoot so much material so quickly now that we're basically tap-dancing as fast as we can. I don't think the reality of the whole thing will really be felt until maybe mid-August — that's when the rubber band is going to snap. There's a part of me that's really, really anxious about how that's going to feel. There's also a part of me that's really OK with everything, I gotta admit, because this show has been such a circus in the last few years. It felt like they've been trying to remake the wheel as fast as they could and getting it wrong. There are people I have worked with for three decades who are family to me, who have been there for me when times were tough, and have been so fun to work with. That I will never forget. That's the stuff that'll hurt in the middle of the night when I finally realize that's it all gone. But there are also people I have worked for that I am not going to miss at all. Flat out. TV Guide Magazine: Could this cancellation have been avoided? Knight: I'm not smart enough to figure that out. In retrospect, as I sit here on the lowest level of the food chain trying to do the math — as we all are — it seems to me that ABC knew years ago, before AMC moved out to California, that they'd be getting out of the soap industry. Our world is in a tremendous state of flux — economically, politically, culturally — and the network is hedging its bets. From a creative and financial standpoint, something had to change. I think they were between a rock and a hard place. Look, it's been a great ride. When [AMC creator] Agnes Nixon, in all of her brilliance, came up with the idea for our show she didn't think she'd still be writing stories and keeping it alive over 40 year later — not in her wildest dreams! I'm just really, really glad I got to be a part of it. The amazing thing about being at AMC this long, and being this age, is that you never know what you had until it's gone. You come on a show when you're 22-years-old thinking this is the way life is and that it's always going to be like this. And then you watch the show change and grow and morph and struggle and finally come to realize how much you should have appreciated it when you had the chance. Being on AMC has been an experience that's amazing, sometimes frustrating, sometimes really exciting, sometimes a little boring. I will never forget the gift Agnes gave me, but I gotta say that the last eight years have not necessarily been easy. TV Guide Magazine: You achieved supercouple status with Cady, yet you're one of the rare daytime stars whose fans have loved seeing you with other partners, too. In fact, you've had extraordinary chemistry with many actresses on the show. Knight: You can't explain chemistry. In the glory days they used to bring us onto the show and develop us slowly. When I came on AMC they knew Tad was going to sleep with both Liza [Marcy Walker] and her mother, Marian [Jennifer Bassey], but I didn't get to go there for the first year and a half. It was a year before I even started working with Marcy! We've lost that long, slow building of emotions because we got to the point where they want things moving fast — they need more bang for the buck. We keep giving the patient shots of adrenalin in order to keep things moving. We lost our skill in knowing how to use our legacy, and a big part of that is because Agnes has been out of the mix for the last few years. She has not had the control she should have had. There was a point where the people at the network said, "We can take it from here." And the fact is they couldn't. Agnes, like Bill Bell, God bless his soul, were master storytellers. They learned it at the knee of Irna Phillips. They knew how to string the viewers along and keep them in suspense and in a state of great expectation. They knew how piss off the viewers a little bit now in to order make 'em really, really happy later on. TV Guide Magazine: And they loved every minute of it and chose to remain in daytime drama when they easily could have moved on to primetime. That sort of deep, unwavering passion and devotion seems to be missing in so many of today's soap writers. Knight: I do have to cut the network some slack there. It's hard to know when to rock the boat. It's hard to know when to try something new. Do you hire new writers to give the show a different flavor, or do you go with people who are tried and true, people who know the characters? I personally am thrilled to have Lorraine Broderick back. She writes from a sense of character, not from the need to move plot. The only thing we have to offer is our history. In daytime, we don't do nudity or profanity like cable does. We don't blow stuff up. [Laughs] Or we rarely do... there is a tornado in Pine Valley once every five years. The audience knows when we're veering away from our history, when we've lost track of what our characters are really about. God forbid we have two characters sitting on a sofa just talking and revealing themselves the way we used to 20 years ago! Now every scene must have entrances, exits, movement, stuff. We can't just be. TV Guide Magazine: In the event you don't continue with the show after it ends its network run, who will you miss the most? Who's going to be your scarecrow? Knight: I could never narrow it down to just one person. There are a couple who are already gone — Julia Barr [Brooke] and David Canary [Adam]. I respect the s--t out of both of them. They are two of the most talented people I've ever met, as lovable as the day is long, and generous, graceful and dignified. They are everything in life that you'd want them to be. But of the people who are left, I'd say Walt Willey [Jack], Susan Lucci [Erika], Thorsten Kaye [Zach], Jill Larson [Opal], Ricky Paull Goldin [Jake]. And Cady, of course. Man, does she look annoying good! [Laughs] I'm like, "Jesus, woman! Now you're just making me look bad!" Who needs that? It's bad enough I have to cover up the mirror in my dressing room at the studio. The only thing I can see is my hair, so I can check the 'do before I go on camera. [Laughs] Because the rest is too depressing! TV Guide Magazine: Stop! Both you and Tad have aged and mellowed beautifully. Knight: There is something sort of touching about Tad these days. He used to be such a mover and a shaker, the womanizer who came into town going, "Hey, baby! Hey, baby!" Now he's this fat, middle-aged, gray-haired dude married to this young, hot, incredibly gorgeous gal but in the back of his mind he's going, "I'm not fooling anybody!" For the people who've watched Tad for nearly 30 years and know his journey, that's solid gold. God bless our loyal audience. I thank each and every one of them for the support and the love that they've given me because I'm amazed that I made it to the end. [Laughs] My expiration date was up, baby! Several times! The only people who made sure I hung in here and crossed the finish line are the fans. I owe them everything. Source: TV Guide Spoilers From August 9th Issue Of SOD *AMC returns are the cover. Cara passes on to skeptical Opal and Krystal what Janet told her about Dixie coming back from the dead. Opal and Krystal comprehend that Tad and Cara will never be the same. Tad has gone over to the park to bid a fond farewell to Dixie, as the real Dixie stands in the shadows taking it all in—unseen by Tad. Dixie assumes this Tad before her in the park is a figment of her imagination until… Dixie remembers everything, then says Tad’s name out loud. He turns… Dixie stays put in one spot long enough to make a difference: at last, her eyes meet Tad’s. Dixie enjoys a reunion with an amazed Tad. They catch up—on as much as they can in the first five minutes. Dixie demands Tad fill her in on all the blanks since she was gone. Tad has Dixie meet her daughter Kathy for the first time since Kathy’s birth. Dixie happens to glance at a photo of Tad and Cara when they were wed. Griffin bolsters Cara about holding onto Tad, despite the reappearance of presumed-dead Dixie. Nevertheless, Cara begins to give up, willing to bow out of the marriage for the sake of Tad and Dixie’s happily ever after. Cara makes Dixie’s acquaintance, while David absorbs the exchange in the shadows. Tad guarantees Cara that he will take care of her, deportation officers be damned. Cara hits up Kendall as a roommie. Dixie eventually has to deal personally with David. At the very sight of his mom in the flesh back at Tad’s, JR reacts dramatically with distress, skepticism, and violent dismissal. JR shoves Dixie aside to lay into Tad (and David) for making him look foolish with this lookalike stunt. Kendall keeps Bianca apprised of the latest Project Orpheus developments. Ryan and David go ‘round and ‘round about his Project. Kendall stubbornly clings to a dead Zach, instead of the alternative. She will knock you out if you say otherwise. Ryan updates Kendall regarding his Project Orpheus findings, including the part where it’s feasible that Zach was revived from death’s door by David. Kendall rejects Ryan’s supposition that Griffin could have it right all along about Zach being alive. Griffin tries to get Kendall to look at this (Zach isn’t dead, you idiot) reasonably. Ryan makes sure he can monitor David’s every move—with help from a handy-dandy GPS slipped into the ole cell. Nevertheless, David shakes Ryan’s shadow easily. Zach’s body pulsates with violent tremors. Greenlee can barely wrap her mind around what she encounters in David’s experimental lab. Greenlee puts David on the spot about his Project Orpheus and the damage it’s doing. If these people are like Lazarus, why won’t David release them to their former lives, she reasons. Greenlee comes upon Zach, realizing he’s one of several helped and caged like guinea pigs by David. Zach rouses from slumber, of the mind that he’s keeping company with his mom, Amelia. He’s obviously out of it. Zach becomes conscious of his mom’s funeral, then cycles on Kendall, or who he thinks is Kendall. Greenlee poses as her BFF, Kendall, because that’s who Zach sees. Zach makes an allegiance to Kendall (really Greenlee playing along) to sacrifice his life if need be for her. Zach tries to love on Kendall. When she isn’t reciprocal as he expects, he unravels, prompting Greenlee to fake the hell out of it to calm him down. In an attempt to flee his confines, Zach slips. Greenlee rushes to Zach to check his pulse, finds nothing there, and begins to shriek. Greenlee’s shrieks reach Ryan’s alert ears. David converges on the scene of a prone Zach. There's a picture in both magazines of JR kissing Madison (with one hand on her butt). Debbi Morgan is part of SOD's Y&R cover. A veteran AMC actor talks about how disappointing it is fans will will never see the actual vision LB/AN had for the end the show. Right now there is 3 different finales in the work due to the PP deal. SOD has a more detailed synop about AMC this week. David takes Greenlee to the facility. She has flashbacks of her time there. He then injects her. Next thing she knows she's with Leo. Duhamel adds that they didn't really talk about where he's been, they talked about how losing him affected her and where she is today and how much he respects that. Greenlee wakes up after the dream and there's a patient with her. Zach. David felt seeing someone familiar would have a positive effect on Zach when he woke up. It doesn't... So Kendall sees Dixie alive this week. This sends her into a panic of sorts. For a second, she ponders if it could be true about Zach. Griffin, once again, tries to convince her it could be true - and Ryan too - but she shuts them both down on it. AM notes it's not that she doesn't want it to be true, it's that if she believed it and it wasn't that it would destroy her. Even though she's learned to live w/o him and has fallen for Griffin, there's nothing she would want more. So denial. She's told Grififn to stop pushing her away, let's try this. Griffin strongly believes there's a chance Zach's alive so he's pulling away not to get hurt in the chance he is. Kendall goes to the hospital for a routine visit and at that moment she sees Zach being wheeled in. Timing! AM's excited for the next part of the story. In the park, Dixie recognizes Tad's voice and calls out to him. She hears him talking and it all comes together for her. At first he's shocked but then it sinks in after and he takes her to see Kathy. Joyful reunion. Not so much with JR. He thinks Tad is playing him to stop his drinking. While Tad has a heart to heart with Cara (after an awkwars face to face with Dixie), Dixie sneaks out to confront JR. Young notes you'd think Dixie could get through to him. MEK waxes poetic about Hartley. He's like yes, the Tad/Dixie stuff is a slam dunk - but Hartley delivers. You see there's a cost which only makes T/D's reunion richer in his opinion. He thinks Cara's handling of the return will surprise the audience. Janet/Amanda stuff next. Sweet pic of them on a hospital bed together. Janet has some burns from the OH escape so ends up at PVH. She has scenes with the Castillo's. Cara questions if she's related to Amanda. Janet proceeds to go on an anti-Jake jag. Then Jamanda arrive. Jake and Janet don't hit it off. He's wary. She doesn't like him. Amanda tells Janet she needs Jake, she loves him, and she has cancer. The crazy kind of slips from Janet at that point and she's just her mother, a good mother. It's golden, the moment. Janet apologizes for being a bad mother. As Amanda prepares for surgery the next day, she goes to see Janet and is trying to take care of her. Janet reverses that and takes care of her daughter. <-- Bed scene. Wk of 8/8 Angie questions David about his other patients. Jane tells Jerica her only accomplice was Ben. Ryan places GPS on David. Ryan hears Greenlee's cries for help. Tad promises Cara he wont let her be deported. Scott has strong words for JR. Wk OF 8/15 Someone is dead. (<--Hah!). David mentions Gillian to Greenlee. Is Babe alive, too? Greenlee opens up to Kendall. Maya dumps Mookie. Is Amanda cancer free after surgery? Marissa tells Bianca she wants to spend the night with her. There's articles with AM and about PP to start SOD. It's AM's respose to Daytime Confidential's rumors about her. She's pretty frank, there story was false in several ways but that doesn's mean she's definitely staying with AMC either. It depends. They have to contact her. Considering it's online, outs for other projects. Time is moving forward and people are getting other jobs with them all being released on 8/31, like Morgan. She is happy AMC is going on though, and thrilled for the fans. (In the PP article) PP told the cast the internet site would be ready to launch in maybe December or January. There's a lot of legal hurdles to overcome first with guilds and unions. Both casts have cautious optimism about it all. OLTL will be losing its NY studio. I's going to Katie Couric. There's talk about moving it to Brooklyn. In SOW's peanut gallery they note how appropriate it is PV's biggest egomaniac can raise the dead. SOD's editor loves the PO story. Notes David's personality and his other thought to be dead patients from the pasrt. Likes that in part Griffin's work led to Zach's revival. Layers there. SOD gives JY/MEK performer of the week. For the week when JR gave in and began drinking again. SOD analyzes thing will get worst before they get better. Debbi Morgan to Y&R. HW MAB says it's going to be big. She was a big fan of AMC in the 80s s was happy to get Morgan. She still hasn't named the character. She'll be involved in story with J. Cooper and others. The character has had a touch past and has had to reinvent herself. She is not Dru. CBL/Bianca said if she could play any character for a day it would be David. Bianca's so nice and David isn't although VI plays him lovable. He's everywhere, the conductor, like a cartoon character (evil scientist). She thinks it would be a great time. There's an article on children on soaps... AM waxes about the NY Spike and Ian's. She was attached to them, cried about them. She still keeps in touch with the Eckstein's parents to check on them. That was her first experience doing mom stuff. Pre-Willow. SOD hopes AMC will bring Reggie back in a section where they revist Gone but not forgotten children. MAIL: A fan just kind of doesn't like David or the PO story. Fans are wondering just how many people David has brought back from the dead. A Randi fan is upset by the lack of material. A K/Griff fan waxes poetic on them coming together. A fan gives JY kudos for his work but is disappointed in LB writing a bit. Marissa gets a happy ending already, and JR is a raving drunk losing everything? RyGriff break into David's office and find obituraries. They also find a DVD where David urges Griff to continue his work if he dies. Erica & Janet convice Kinks that their mom aint crazy. She introduces the girls to the other crazies: Dixie, Marian. Marian & Kendall make up from the whole Stuart/shooting thing. Tad asks for Dixie's blessing for him/Cara as Dixie listens from afar. Janet tells Cara about Dixie. Griff confirms to her it could be true. Ryan allows Annie to see Emma. He later realizes Greens is missing and confronts David. Soapcentral ALL MY CHILDREN: AUGUST PreVUE Mark Your Calender Reunions: Greenlee comes face to face with Leo on Thursday, August 4. Tad comes face to face with Dixie on Monday, August 8. Kendall comes face to face with Zach on Friday, August 12. Old questions are left unanswered while new questions arise surrounding what exact means justified the ends for Dr. Hayward who baits his (mostly) reluctant disciples about who else he may have pulled from the grave. JR's troubles and a "surprising" forth party addition sets Tad, Dixie & Cara down paths they may have not originally set out for. Choices are made that cause a chasm to erupt between Zach & Kendall. Will the duo be able to overcome one more time? While one Pine Valley couple consummates their romance; another couple decides whether or not it's time to make theirs official! Jack comes through for Erica, but their future remains in question as the diva is haunted by her recent experience and thoughts of a certain man from her past. SON ‘All My Children’ Set to Welcome Back a Princess and a Cop http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/news/all-my-children-set-to-welcome-back-a-princess-and-a-cop (SoapOperaNetwork.com ) — Esta TerBlanche and Shannon Kane will both return to “All My Children” later this summer. Kane, a rising film star, will reprise the role of Jesse Hubbard’s (Darnell Williams) daughter, Det. Natalia Fowler, beginning on Friday, August 26. 38-year old South African beauty, TerBlanche reprises the role of the love of Ryan Lavery’s (Cameron Mathison) life Princess Gillian Andrassy beginning on a date yet to be announced by the ABC soap. TerBlanche appeared as Gillian on “AMC” from 1997 to 2001. In June 2001, after being shot dead, Ryan agreed to donate Gillian’s heart to Brooke English’s (Julia Barr) adopted daughter, Laura. Fans may remember Dr. David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry) was the physician that took care of that medical emergency. Hayward is currently in the middle of resurrecting many of Pine Valley’s deceased characters through what we assume is the most incredible medical science breakthrough ever; is Ryan’s princess next? Stay Tuned. Kane debuted on “AMC” in October 2008 as the beautiful daughter Jesse conceived while on the run for close to twenty years, Natalia. Kane, who has appeared in Richard Gere’s “Brooklyn’s Finest” and Tyler Perry’s “Diary of a Tired Black Man” and “Madea’s Big Happy Family,” parted ways with “AMC” in February 2011. Natalia has visited her family and her long-distance boyfriend Brot Monroe (J.R. Martinez) just once since leaving the Pine Valley Police Department for the Philidelphia Police Department. Stay Tuned to find out where Natalia’s relationships will pick up from when she returns later this summer. According to a show spokesperson, TerBlanche will be back for a handful of episodes. It’s expected that Kane will appear in as many episodes. TerBlanche and Kane’s upcoming appearances bring the total of returning actors to “AMC” since word of cancellation in April to a whopping seventeen. The pair join Cady McClain (Dixie), Thorsten Kaye (Zach), Eva LaRue (Maria), Josh Duhamel (Leo), Leven Rambin (Lily), Carol Burnett (Verla), Kate Collins (Janet), Melissa Claire Egan (Annie), Jennifer Bassey (Marian), David Canary (Adam), Julia Barr(Brooke), Ray MacDonnell (Joe), Lee Meriwether (Ruth), Alexa Havins (Babe) and Justin Burening (Jamie). As previously reported, McClain and Kaye’s returns are extended. Collins, Canary and Barr will each air in anywhere up to ten episodes each. It's moving fast but that's not necessarily making Bianca doubt anything, it makes her feel more confident about Marissa's switch b/c Marissa is so self-assured. Unlike past questionable loves, there's no question that Marissa's sure about this. On Bianca's end, more than anything she wants to make sure Marissa is comfortable as they proceed. SG asserts that Marissa is. CBL & SG talk about the positive reaction to their coupling. They both worked hard on making this about two humans connecting, not just about two women connecting. Marissa assures Bianca she is happy after they make love. But all is not bliss, JR is still drinking and there's a custody battle looming. Soapcental SOD's Mara berates AMC for spending time on Mookie/Maya. Not b/c it's realistic story unlike her favorite story (David) but b/c they're newbies, she rather they spend more time on Liza, Asher, Caleb, Frandi, Colby. She knows Maya connects to Jangie, but still... Luner (Liza) hopes they'll at least mend Liza/Colby's relationship for Liza before the end. She elaborates on that in SOW. SOW gives a HIT (as opposed to a MISS) to AMC's turn at the Looney Bin. MEK will have an interview in next weeks SOD. He usually doesn't interview so this is a rarity. In an excerpt he talks about his disappointment in them not playing the Damon/Tad stuff more after the Liza hook-up due to the actors exit. SOD will also have more on SMG's return to AMC in their next issue. MAIL: A Minks fan letter. A letter about Griffin's fall from grace (his entanglement w/David) & excited about Z/K's return. Viewers want Leo to be the real thing. Rebecca Budig on her future after AMC While it’s hard to imagine daytime TV without All My Children, it’s even more difficult to picture the fictional Pine Valley without reformed badgirl Greenlee Smythe and the talented scene-stealing actress who plays her, Rebecca Budig. But with the future of the long-running ABC soap arguably still up in the air, it may be time to bid the two adieu when the broadcast finale airs on Sept. 23. TVLine spoke in-depth with Budig about her future with AMC once it leaves airwaves, what she would have done differently with Greenlee’s 2009 return, and, ultimately, where she’d like to end up on the acting spectrum. TVLINE | As of now, where do things stand with you, your costars, and Prospect Park [the media upstart aiming to take AMC and One Life to Live online]? Are deals in the works in order to move forward with production on All My Children? I think they’re negotiating with the unions before they can even negotiate with [the actors]. I don’t know anything other than that. TVLINE | It’s pretty common for actors to become attached to the characters they play over extended periods of time, so are you interested in staying with All My Children when — or if — it moves to the Internet? Or had you already accepted that this chapter in your life had ended when AMC‘s finale was set? Yes! You are very intuitive. [Laughs] The truth is that in my head, I have moved on — and I think most of [the cast] had wrapped our heads around this. I’m a believer that change is good and that things happen for a reason, but I will never say never, because you never know. These [Prospect Park] guys are smart and I think they know what they’re doing. It’s super-ambitious and innovative and a new frontier — and I feel like All My Children is the perfect choice to start an online network. TVLINE | Have you heard the latest reports that have Prospect Park courting cable channels to air the episodes after they debut online? If they locked in something like that, would you more seriously consider sticking with All My Children? Wow. Gosh, I don’t know. I love the show and I’m so grateful for everything it’s done for me. I lived my twenties in New York and I had a great job — there’s no better way to grow up. But Greenlee hasn’t been written for recently the way she was written for when she was with Leo, and that’s what I really loved to do. It’s actually what I came back to do [when I rejoined AMC in 2009]. But it never really happened, and that’s a big factor to me. It’s not about the money, it’s that I want to sink my teeth into something. Greenlee was so funny before, but she lost her sense of humor. They do write funny stuff for her opposite Erica (Susan Lucci), I will say that. [Laughs] TVLINE | What do you think your next step will be if the Sept. 23 broadcast finale of AMC marks the end of the road for Greenlee? I can certainly see you ending up on primetime television somewhere. It’s fun to be on a soap, but at the same time…. Look, I’m not 20 anymore. [Laughs] I don’t know how easy it’s going to be to get another job. But it’s exciting to get back into the game. It takes time and I’ll have to be patient. TVLINE | My dream scenario: You get snatched up by a cute sitcom. I hear ABC’s Cougar Town is looking for a girlfriend for Bobby Cobb… Just sayin’! Are you kidding?! I would love to do a sitcom, especially something where I could be goofy. I love, love, love, love comedy. http://www.tvline.com/2011/08/rebecca-budig-opens-up-about-her-all-my-children-future-in-my-head-i-have-moved-on/ |

Soapzone Airdate for Gellar’s Return to ‘All My Children’ Announced (SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Earlier this month, Soap Opera Network reported that Sarah Michelle Gellar would be returning to “All My Children” for a cameo appearance before the Friday, September 23 finale, which is when the soap ends its 41-year run on ABC. Now we’ve learned when she’ll first air! Right after learning the aforementioned news in April, the actress, who won a Daytime Emmy for her portrayal of Kendall Hart in 1995 as the first-born of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci), began campaigning for a short return stint as a new character. It has been revealed that Gellar will appear on the Wednesday, September 21 episode in scenes opposite another former memorable Pine Valley star and her real-life best friend Eva LaRue. Gellar appeared on “AMC” from 1993 to 1995. In 1997, the actress, who recently turned 34-years old, landed the lead role on The WB/UPN network primetime series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” The role helped make Gellar a household name, which will come in handy as she’s set to star in the upcoming CW thriller “Ringer, which premieres Tuesday, September 13. LaRue ‘portrayal as Dr. Maria Santos lasted from 1993 to 1997 and again from 2002 to 2005. Like Gellar, LaRue was immediately interested in a return after hearing about the soaps cancellation. The actress was signed to return for five episodes, two of which already aired in July. The actress is currently filming the 10th season of her CBS series “CSI: Miami.” She landed a regular role on the procedural in 2005. “AMC” is slated to live-on with the help of the internet and potentially cable. The latest reports indicate that Prospect Park, the production company that has licensed both “AMC” and “One Life to Live,” is planning to debut both programs on their new format on Monday, January 16. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/news/airdate-for-gellars-return-to-all-my-children-announced Carol Burnett will return to Pine Valley as Verla Grubbs on Tuesday September 6th More At: http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/news/abc-sets-carol-burnetts-first-airdate-on-all-my-children Bobbie Eakes video interview about the cancellation and continuing online http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/videos/exclusive-bobbie-eakes-on-learning-all-my-children-was-canceled-and-whats-next As Soap Opera Network first reported on our Twitter page, Prospect Park has quietly confirmed that “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” will premiere online on Monday, January 16, 2012 and “One Life’s” last airdate on ABC will be Friday, January 13, 2012. SON SNEAK PEEKS WEEK OF AUGUST 29 Is Jessie ready to tell Angie the truth? “All My Children” creator Agnes Nixon stops by Pine Valley. Soap Opera Source Spoilers & Interview From August 30th SOD / SOW SOD is an AMC cover. Jesse & Angie (The Truth Comes Out!), SMG. Lucci. Knight... Gillian airs on 8/24. CM notes he thinks the Leo visit gave Greenlee closure and he feels this will do the same for Ryan. These were their first loves. It enables them to move forward in a stronger way as he believes they needed closure with their first loves. He thinks that is in part what led to so much of their turmoil. He notes the scenes with Gillian were peaceful and beautiful. Jesse's secret comes out. LB notes Jesse hasn't been protecting himself, he's been protecting Angie from something he knows will devestate her. Things get even more hard for Jesse when Angie, seeing what a good caregiver Maya is, encourages her to get her baby back. She recruits Tad. Jesse in turn tells Tad the truth which gives him some release. It's been a burden - he feels like he's burdening Brot (who becomes engaged to Natalia this week). He doesn't judge Jesse but he gives him some stuff to think about that he maybe hadn't thought out before. We'll see what he's really been going through when he tells Tad. LB doesn't want to reveal how Angie finds out but basically gives away that Jesse admits it to her. She notes this is the strongest marriage in Pine Valley but Jesse will be taking a leap of faith. Can they survive? LB says their marriage is maybe the strongest ever on AMC. Although this is a big one, they've gotten past some terrible obstacles. General stuff... Mathison talks about how emotional he and Esta were to see each other again, they could barely talk. Seeing her took him back to moving to NY and starting this part of his life. He ponders if fans could really accept him w/anybody else after Gillian. Talks about L/G, G/R being each others true love. There's pictures of Gillian standing behind Ryan. AM is stoked to have TK back, her pal, partner in crime, etc. She felt like he was gone forever but when they're doing scenes together it's like he never left. Comments on getting to see him work with the actors who have joined since he left like LH and JV - they have some great scenes. She enjoys the dynamic btw her, TK, JV. The men have differences but similarities as people. They're both Miami Dolphin fans. SMG said when she heard the show's fate she just remembered being a child, watching ABCD w/mom. The Chew will never become what these soaps have been. It won't last 30 years. She called AMC's casting director. Judy asked if she's serious about a return. She of course was. She doesn't see Kendall as her character anymore, and waxes poetic about the job AM has done. She'll tape her scenes wk. of 8/22. They'll air 9/21. She's a bit nervous, new studio, new people. She knows MEK. She talks about meeting so many of her best pals there, growing from a kid to an adult there. SMG contemplates Lindsay and Michelle (ex-AnLi & ex-Lily) returning with her. A ConFusion scenes with the 3. SMG's currently more into OLTL when she gets the time to watch. She knows JK from Prospect Park very well and thinks if anybody can do this internet venture successfully, it's him. Her and Bruening have exchanged AMC stories on the set of Ringer. She'll be making sure his Ringer character follows in Jamie's footsteps and has his short off a lot. Martinez waxes poetic about Natalia accepting his proposal. All his dreams have come true. The loves of his life is going to amrry him, he has this extended family in the Hubbards. But the Lucy secret weighs on him? He's been lying to people he loves. He questions if Brot could lose everything due to that. Zach partners with David this week. They get to save lives and make millions. Kendall questions if Zach is crazy. He tells her if they're going to make this work he needs her to be with him on this. Kendall relents. She'll go with him on anything b/c she loves him. That understood, Kendall does confide in Greenlee that Zach is different. He's off, there's a shift. She doesn't know if it's b/c of the time away or b/c of something David did to him. But it goes back to having him back, shhe just wants to support him after that. Griffin? Greenlee tells Zach they were starting to have a relationship but nothing happened, they broke up. David purposely tries to get his skin about it on the other hand. MEK's interview is super long. First interview in 11 years with SOD. I'm reading, but a lot more to read. He talks a lot about the old days. How different the past 10 years of AMC, daytime was/is in comparison to the 80s - AMC's heyday. He isn't critical as much as he's observant, mentioning there was more time to develop things back then. He waxes poetic about David Canary - when he was young he thought to only be half the actor, half the man Canary is. He talks about Kim Delaney having a truck-driver mouth and TPTB once telling him that Tad isn't supposed to want to sleep with his sister during a scene which had Tad/Jenny dancing. He talks about Lyman giving him the wings to bring out his comedic side on-screen. He talks about all the character actors that used to be on the show, and once again references that it disappeared in the last decade. He mentions he's done everything as Tad except have a baby. <-- Okay, that's only like half the interview synop. He basically brings up every actor from AMC 80s. He says Barr, Nader, Willey, MacDonnell & Gentry are the actors who made him laugh most. Talks about Ruth Warrick. He's happy he wasn't fired in the past 10 years. He thinks its thanks to he fans. He talks about the numbers tanking in the late 90s, That's when they started bringing in new actors and immediately throwing them into major story. He talks about AMC back in the day wouldn't have tossed the Damon/Tad story out. He talks about the long development of characters, the history - that is what fans connect to, they know it like the back of their hand. That's what they want to see. He talks about Cady/Dixie. 20 years of ups and downs makes this "final" payoff of them reuniting that much sweeter. He talks more about Tad and comedy. Him going to the EP at the time and Agnes, and them letting him run for it. He expresses gratitude to all the women who have put up with the way he works that (Marcy, etc), most of all Cady. Lucci says there's nothing currently with AMC that makes her feel like its ending. Maybe it's b/c it hasn't sunk in. She's going back to NY on 9/1 and will be there for a while, she has obligations there. Some stage work, etc. She talks about talking to Marc Cherry and it was a very good conversation. She'd love to work with him. MC created Desperate Housewives. Kate Collins gets Performer of the week for the Oak Haven scenes. She gives a character that could be a cartoon heart. On a similar note, Mala from SOD notes that while the current storyline is ridiculous, VI is perfect for it. He gives just enough vulneribility to go with the arrogance. She believes his heart is in the right place with PO, but she also notes it's really David's ruthless streak that rules him. Sticking it to everybody. Riegel waxes poetic about how great Lind is as Bianca, and how great Lind is. AMC's wardrobe dept has been halved. <-- Online update J.R. Martinez was happy about Mookie's arrival in PV. Why? He has a worst name than Brot, lol. AMC's TV Guide Network special airs on 9/11 at 8pm MAIL: Jamada/Minx fan letters. In SOW, a Jamanda letter, and a Jake/Cara fan letter. Fans are welcoming Esta back. Soapcentral Lucci offered deal with Prospect Park Prospect Park is continuing to show they're playing for keeps. According to Deadline the production company has made daytime soap opera's biggest name Susan Lucci a contract offer essentially equitable to what she currently makes at ABC, to continue with All My Children as it moves online and to other platforms. Lucci is reportedly mulling over the fantastic offer. Looks like the ball is in La Lucci's court! http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/2011/08/18/susan-lucci-offered-basically-the-same-salary-she-currently-has-at-abc-to-stay-with-all-m Walt Willey interview about Prospect Park proposal (no real news just that they were given an offer and they are all thinking it over and hope to have more news soon) http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/news/walt-willey-reveals-prospect-park-has-made-a-proposal-to-actors |

JR tells Marissa to share custody of AJ with him or he'll paste her and Bianca having sex all over the internet. SG thinks this is an awesome story. She notes Marissa's care/love/pity for JR is dying as he grows nastier. Bianca, meanwhile, is there encouraging her to stay strong. Marissa stands up to JR and refuses to give in to his blackmail. She tells him he'll only be hurting AJ by doing that. He realizes that is true and decides to find another way to get his kid. Marissa & Bianca decide to buy a house and live together. Maya learns Lucy is her kid this week. The actress talks about preparing for these scenes. Once Angie gets Tad on the case to help Maya, things unravel fast. Maya is happy when she finds out but the Hubbards have come to mean a lot to her - so her happiness is countered by not wanting to break their hearts. She has a lot to weigh, to think about but she ultimately comes to a final decision. Fall Previews: Nothing direct for AMC. JHC says AMC is at heart real/reality, so all ending won't be tied up (resolution) - some will, some won't, there'll be bad with the good. It's ultimately about the journey with these characters; LB plays with complication that are inherent to each character. There are things they wanted to make right, especially w/ fans who have been watching for decades. She feels they haven't not done everything they wished they had done. Debbi Morgan notes that she made the decision about going to Y&R before finding out about AMC and PP. She doesn't regret the decision though, she thinks she probably would have made the same decisions either way. She's played Angie for so long. Y&R's HW has told her how many actors have come to her asking if they get to work with Debbi. She's very flattered. Jacob Young returns to B&B as Rick on 9/26. He felt less guilty after MEK called him and told him it was the right decision. He'll miss AMC a lot but it's time to change. There's been interest from B&B for a while but he was happy with AMC. Bell called after the cancellation news. AMC's future right now is too much when/if for his taste. He started his career on B&B 14 years ago and he's changed due to the character of JR. Rick won't be JR but he's fgoing to bring new aspects to him. He's excited by how excited they are at B&B. He's going to make sure his last episodes with AMC are some of his best work, he's going to give it his all. Thorsten Kaye talks about why he didn't go back to OLTL. Points out he's not a favorite of ABC. He remarks it was for two epis and it wan't really about ushering Marty out, it was about [the writers through Patrick] screwing over new Todd by bringing back old Todd and making fans feel like idiots for buying what they did for 8 years, more or less. It didn't make sense to him, maybe on radio but not on TV. Will Susan return to OLTL before it stops taping in Nov.? He doesn't want to talk for her. It's tough when a show basically says you're out, we're better off w/o you. But he knows with AMC, it didn't end how he wanted it to end. He feels Susan feels the same way about Marty. It's something that could be rectified. Some more spoilers for this current week. Zach buys from under Ryan a property he was going to purchase to house Cambias and Fusion. Natalia accepts his proposal. Maya turns to Tad for help finding her baby. Tad questions Brot after Maya tells him to keep Jesse out of it. Brot calls Jesse. Jesse tells Tad the truth. AMC goed Editors' Choice for the week where Leo appeared. GreenLeo, The Oak Haven escape, Zach appeared. Janet/Amanda scene, Annie/Emma/Ryan, etc. Oh, and of course Tad & Dixie's reunion. SOW/AMC editors gives a HIT to Dixie's return. SOD/AMC Editor wasn't a big fan of the Jane/Erica story but wow, did it end with a whimper. She notes AMC cut from recaps that Jane would take the fall for Erica's stabbing so that surprised her. And she notes how much Jane looked like Connie Wilkes in her last appearance. Kate Collins talks about in between scenes with the old-new gals at AMC. She talked to MCE about when they used to tape scenes in chronological order. The older gals reminisced about old director Henry Kaplan. He was wild and crazy. It was a great experience, getting to reminisce, etc. SOD had stars share vacation pics. Alicia for AMC. First she went to florida to celebrate grandma's 100th birthday. Picture of 4 generations of the ladies in her family accompanies. She and Willow joined Jake (Spiek) and his family at Turtle Bay/Sea World when she returned to Cali. Her and Richie took an excited Willow to see Elmo... MAIL: A letter complementing the 8/5 epi of AMC. Tad/Dixie fan is happy, as is a Zach fan. A fan is insulted by the current return from the dead storyline. Thinks it's pretty much ridiculous. SOW adds that their mail bag for AMC this week is fans either fed up w/this story or loving it and wanting more. Soapcentral More on Eva LaRue and Sarah Michelle Gellar Eva LaRue and Sarah Michelle Gellar reunited with some of their former co-stars on the set of “All My Children” earlier today. The two beautiful women taped their scenes scheduled to air on Wednesday, September 21. On her official Twitter feed, LaRue describes the scenes with Gellar that she affectionately refers to as cheesy. Paying homage to Gellar’s run on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and possibly to ”AMC’s” current bizarre umbrella story that has several character returning from certain death thanks to a miracle drug regime, Sarah will be playing Dr. Maria Santos psychiatric patient. Dr. Santos’ patient insists she’s surrounded by … vampires! SON Soaptown Loose Lips Spoilers I must admit I loved the Greenlee and Leo scenes but I have to wonder, if there is more and are we being teased about Leo being alive. The photo (left) of Leo was never shown but it is part of the Leo/Greenlee storyline. So could it be that more scenes were taped and have not been shown yet and is it likely they are just keeping all possibilities open depending on which characters continue over to Prospect. or could this be a scene where Leo watches Greenlee and Ryan go off into the sunset?......Cara and David who would have thunk it..LOL What if Cara is taking one for the team and is just trying to figure out what David is up to and using him?.....Julia Barr's (Brooke) first airs September 16th, which means 6 episodes (initially is was supposed to be nine according to Barr), but apparently the change in the final episodes revised that. David Canary's airdate hasn't been announced yet, supposedly they were coming back together, so hopefully they should be back around the same time.....Zach wonders if Kendall trusts him enough to keep a secret. What secret could that be?......David is almost ready and soon we will know who else David has locked up. David prepares to reveal "two" more of his patients....Agnes Nixon will appear beginning August 31 as Agnes Eckhardt, who she played in 2005 for the show's 35th Anniversary. Eckhardt will be admitted to Pine Valley Hospital where Cara and David treat her and she will also have an effect on many of characters she interacts with. http://www.soaptownusa.com/Loose.html Sneak Peek & Pics Of Carol Burnett's Return ALL MY CHILDREN guest star and longtime fan Carol Burnett will bring Verla Grubbs back to Pine Valley for one last visit on Tuesday, September 6, and Wednesday, September 7, when Langley's daughter returns home for her high school reunion. But Verla isn't planning on just catching up with her Pine Valley High classmates -- she's back for old flame Sam Brady and wants to make sure that she gets at him before rival Opal does! Will Erica Kane be able to fend off her BFF's frenemy? In addition to Burnett, Jason Kinkead will be returning to the soap for the story arc. The actor played the role of Opal's ex from 1982-'84 before leaving AMC to (briefly) take over the role of Tom Hughes at AS THE WORLD TURNS. pics here: http://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8568514/1/ Spoilers & Info From September 13th SOD / SOW Covers: SOW has small pictures of Alicia, Chrishell and Jerica. SOD has a small picture of Zach. Alicia & Chrishell have been approached by other soaps. Alicia declined because she wants to give AMC/PP a chance to work it out before making that type of obligation. Chrishell declined because she wants to try comedy. Summaries of these stories coming up: - Zach, Ryan & David's action packed week that ends with a corpse, a shooting, and a game-changing confession at David's facility. (For Zennies, the pair make love on 9/6). Mid-week, Zach & Ryan get into it after Z finds R breaking into David's lab. TK (who spends most of the article joking) says he thinks Z won the fight as he just has a cut from shaving (that's the way he jokes he's playing it), and Ryan has puffy eyes from crying. David has 2 patients ready to be revealed & he's becoming concened that Z's craziness is going to be a liability. To that end, D wants to find Griffin for his new flame, Cara. Partially. He also just wonders what happened. R is in jail after the fight. Greenlee ponders if life would have been better had Z never came back. TK blames the concoction for Z's not so improved attitude, and Dixie's great haircut. But realistically, he's angry b/c he's lost time w/his family (thinks his wife would be better off w/o him) and he's always been a loner besides for the wife. CM likes the D/R dynamic, the ultimate bad guy and the ultimate hero (although he knows fans get annoyed at Ryan for that) for a decade now - the thread that's played for so long. That's how it's going out as well, David with a non-virtuous intentions and Ryan with a virtuous ones. By the end of the week Zendall, Rylee, D & Griffin find themself in D's lab with the aforementioned result. - Angie gets closer to regaining her sight after David performs the procedure. Broderick talks abut the David & Angie bond. Rivals and enemies who respect each others skills. She's gotten to see the human side of him he allows few others to see. She in turn has helped him find himself as a human being. This connection & thread will play strongly as the show comes to a close on ABC. D. Morgan talks about not expecting Angie to be blind for this long and crossing her fingers for a happy ending. - Opal and Verla face-off over Sam Brady. Sam contacts Opal about reconnecting at their reunion. Verla (Burnett) who stole Sam from D. Lyman's Opal way back runs interference. Erica runs into a Verla at the airport. She's aghast at Verla's intentions on Opal's behalf. Krystal is worried Opal will get hurt by Sam. The three end up at ConFusion. One More Spoiler... Dixie finds Tad in a chicken suit this coming week. Aww. Sweetness, General Stuff... Sources tell Digest that 5 AMC actors are helping PP come to AFTRA with something workable so they can then begin actual negotiations with the actors. AMC/OLTL actors are keeping each other informed. JL/Opal talks about CB's day at the set. Jill had brought her daughter and Cariol introduced herself. Larson was impressed at how fast she remembered everybody's name including her daughter's. Carol mentioned being nervous before taping and Jill thought she couldn't be anymore nervous about working with her than Jill was about working with Carol. Darnell/Jesse brought in flowers for Carol. Susan was up first with Carol. Jill said Susan saif the experience was wonderful but hard b/c you first have to get over this is Carol Burnett. TK mentions his daughters shaved his beard. He said he liked the beard but it was making airport travel hard - added 2 hours to searches. The family videotaped it. He jokes he was glad he had a few days off surrounding the childs-play shaving. At the time of the interview, the wife and kids had come to L.A. for two weeks already - and along with Lish, Willow were planning a trip to Disneyland that day. He's happy he got to go back and be a part of the end of this. RB continues to express her disappointment about the ending. She was hoping on the last show it would be both Gillian, Leo alive - and Ryan and Greenlee going off with the respective love of their lifes. Eric M/Brady, DAYS waxes poetic about Lindsay/Cara on AMC. Larson mentions AMC tracking Jason kincaid/Sam down through Facebook. SOD editor frets about AMC stars going elsewhere, Debbi and Jacob already. CBS' gain, AMC's loss. MAIL: A fan thinks this David story is ludicrous. A Jerica and a Frandi fan are not happy with how things are going at the end here. Zendall/Minx fans happy about their reunions/unions. Soapcentral Casting News & Notes If you are a fan of “All My Children” you have probably given up on both keeping count and keeping track of all the returns racking up to help guide the 41-year old daytime drama’s exit off ABC Daytime. Don’t fret, Soap Opera Network is here to help guide you. Carol Burnett return as Verla Grubbs beginning on Tuesday, September 6. For two episodes, Burnett brings the eccentric daughter of Langley Wallingford (Louis Edmonds) back to Pine Valley to stir up trouble for Opal Cortlandt (Jill Larson). Thanks to the reach of Facebook, the hard-to-find Jason Kincaid returns as Sam Brady next week, as well . Kincaid played the object of both Opal (then played by Dorothy Lyman) and Verla’s affections in the 1980s. Verla won Round One in the battle for Sam’s heart. If Opal and her closest friends have anything to say about it, Opal will knock Verla out of the ring in Round Two. “Seinfeld” and “Dancing with the Stars” alumni John O’Hurley shows up as film producer Kit Sterling on Monday, September 12. He presents Erica Kane with an offer he hopes she can’t refuse. Julia Barr returns as Brooke English on Friday, September 16. Look for Brooke’s return to Pine Valley to tie into JR Chandler’s (Jacob Young) story. David Canary will follow on the heels of the love of Adam Chandler’s life. Along with a multitude of unforgettable connections, Adam is, of course, the father of JR and Colby Chandler (Natalie Hall). Will David Canary also dust off Stuart Chandler for one more appearance? Stay Tuned. Alexa Havins will return as Babe Carey on Tuesday, September 20. Babe is the daughter of David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry) and Krystal Carey (Bobbie Eakes). She is also the ex-wife of JR and the mother of his son AJ (Tate Berney). Is Babe alive? Stay Tuned. Justin Bruening returns as Jamie Martin on Wednesday, September 21. Jamie is the son of Tad Martin (Michael E. Knight) and Brooke. He is also JR’s brother-in-heart and Babe’s former lover. Sarah Michelle Geller and Eva La Rue also return to the scene on September 21 for a quick sighting. In tribute to her “Buffy the Vampire” success, Gellar (who played Kendall Hart from 1993 to 1995) plays a psychiatric patient that is convinced she’s surrounded by vampires. La Rue’s Dr. Mario Santos will see to her care. Look for Ray MacDonnell and Lee Meriwether to also return as Dr. Joe and Ruth Martin during the week of September 19. Leven Rambin had to cancel her return to “AMC” due to a scheduling conflict. Rambin, who played Lily Montgomery on the ABC soap, is currently filming the much-anticipated film “The Hunger Games.” “AMC” last airs on ABC Daytime on Friday, September 23, 2011. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/news/all-my-children-september-casting-notes Mathison keeping busy-- ALL MY CHILDREN just wrapped production for ABC earlier this week, but Cameron Mathison (Ryan) already has a new gig lined up -- and with another Pine Valley fan fave! The actor will star opposite Sydney Penny (ex-Julia) in the upcoming Lifetime movie The Wife He Met Online. "Sydney's the lead, and I'm right up there [in a supporting role]. Isn't that the best thing in the world?" Mathison marvels. "When I heard that, it was a big factor in my decision to be away from my family for three weeks." Having played a romantic leading man for the better part of the last 13 years on AMC, Mathison can't wait to sink his teeth into the mystery thriller. "I don't get to do that too often," he shares. "It's a cool character not that dissimilar to Ryan, but at the same time, I'm going to try to add some differences. It's nice to get a movie role right out of the gate." The made-for-television movie isn't Mathison's only new project. When Internet giant Yahoo launches a series of original Web programs starting October 3, Mathison will be helping prospective grooms pop the question in some rather unusual ways -- including one arrival by parachute! -- as the host of ULTIMATE PROPOSAL. http://abc.soapsindepth.com/2011/09/mathison-lines-up-two-new-jobs.html SOD: Final Taping Day & The End Of AMC's ABC Era Today marks the final day of taping for the cast and crew of ALL MY CHILDREN under the auspices of ABC. "It's not doom and gloom around here," Executive Producer Julie Hanan Carruthers told Digest recently. "People are not walking the death march. I'm sure you know, August 30, when everybody walks out of here, we're going to go, 'Whoa, what happened?' But right now, nobody sees cancellation in their future [laughs]." There will be at least one honored guest present to bear witness to history; reports Julia Barr (Brooke), "Alexa Havins [Babe] is bringing the baby [one-year-old Lexington, with husband Justin Bruening, Jamie] in so we can all give her a kiss and a squeeze. It's hard to be sad when there's a baby around!" http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/end-amcs-abc-era Agnes Nixon confirms ABC cliffhanger ending Remember back in July when I told y'all Prospect Park had asked TPTB at All My Children to end the show's network run with a primetime-worthy cliffhanger? Agnes Nixon has now confirmed it to the Chicago Tribune (Can I just say, I love it when she does that?!). Q: Will you be with the show as it moves over to the Internet? A: Yes, I'll be the creative consultant. Sometimes there are writers who don't want my help, but for the most part I have the big ideas. We're going to have a hiatus, you know, for three months. And the head of Prospect Park (the production company taking over the shows) said, "We've got to have a big cliffhanger for that three months." And so I came up with one which I can't tell you. But they loved it. From what I can gather, Prospect Park pushed hard for the cliffhanger ending, possibly with a "Who Will Live? Who Will Die?" angle ala Dynasty's Moldavian Massacre, in order to a.) Give viewers a reason to follow the show online and b.) Possibly explain multiple exits. Meanwhile, ABC reportedly wanted a happy ending for AMC's network run to try and placate disgruntled viewers. See there, ABC is selfish to the end! Did they really think a "happy ending" would make up for cancelling AMC for some mess Nixon told the reporter she thinks is being called What Are They Chewing? It might as well be called D.O.A., Mama Agnes, because ain't nobody gonna watch a bunch of giggly foodies in the place of your iconic Erica Kane and Co. http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/2011/08/31/agnes-nixon-confirms-big-cliffhanger-for-all-my-childrens-abc-finale All My Children's JR Martinez Preps For DWTS Spotlight All My Children's JR Martinez (Brot) isn't the least bit nervous about competing on Dancing With The Stars this fall. Instead of worrying about his two-step, Martinez is using his appearance on the ABC hit to educate the public about the injuries he suffered after he drove his Humvee over a landmine in Iraq as in 2003. The actor told The New York Post: I am a voice, and I’m just someone who’s out there educating the world for people who don’t necessarily look ‘Hollywood’-ish. I like the fact that I look different. I’m the underdog, the guy people have to Google and see who I am, so I’m cool with that. I want people to find out who I am and grow with me . . . to embrace me for who I am and see who I am, personality-wise. http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/tags/all-my-children Susan Lucci on All My Children’s Last Day, the Big Cliffhanger and Her Future Online Susan Lucci is not in denial. She knows Tuesday was her last day filming All My Children as it exists now on ABC. At the same time, she said, "it just didn't seem real." "Walking out on to the set for my first scene yesterday morning, I have to say, I started to feel it," the actress told TVGuide.com Wednesday, just several hours after the entire production wrapped its storied 42-year-run on broadcast television. "I had to rein my emotions back in because I had to work ... but the setting was spectacular! Perfect for the last day of shooting." Even if it might be the last time Lucci, 64, steps into the formidable shoes of daytime's most recognizable diva, Erica Kane? "That is what went through my mind," she said. "And yet, somehow, I couldn't believe it. I mean I have spent my entire adult life in this collaboration with [series creator Agnes Nixon] and playing this amazing character." "There are a lot of feelings," she continued. "There's pride and excitement and gratitude and joy and celebration — and still a cloud over us because we don't know." In April, ABC announced that it was pulling the plug on the soap, which is set to end on Friday, Sept. 23. Online startup Prospect Park is planning to re-launch the series on the Web in January, though deals with the cast and crew have yet to be signed. Until then, Lucci is giddy for longtime fans to see the final episodes. Without giving the ending away, she says they can rest assured: It's classic All My Children, thanks in large part to the return of Nixon and veteran head writer Lorraine Broderick. But by classic she means it ends with a big ol' cliff-hanger! Will that satisfy longtime fans who might be bracing to grieve the show's ABC ending? "Oh, I think it's spectacular," Lucci says. "To me, knowing how Agnes writes, it was not shocking that she would do that. Like any great novel, when you put it down you say, 'Well, then what?' I knew she wouldn't tie it up in a neat bow, and she really didn't. There are several cliff-hangers." In a separate interview with TVGuide.com last week, Nixon said there was no question that the stories of Pine Valley's finest should not draw to a close so much as leave you wanting to know more. "Wrapping up the run on ABC wasn't as important to me as keeping the show interesting!" she said with a laugh. "We did not wrap everything up with people fading into the sunset with happy endings. It's a continued story and the last episode, we think, will make people want to come back very much to get some answers!" (Viewers can, however, count out another natural disaster hitting Pine Valley. "Oh, no, no, no," Nixon said. "True to what I feel has been part of the character of All My Children is that the cliff-hangers are related to characters and personal emotions. I don't hanker after tornadoes!") Says Lucci, who just finished a wild arc casting her as both Erica Kane and a crazed fan who had undergone facial reconstruction so she could pose as Erica Kane: "What blows me away is that I am involved in this show where Agnes and Lorraine, even at this later hour of the show's broadcast on ABC, are so creatively, passionately working forward." For those not up-to-date, villainous genius Dr. David Heyward (Vincent Irizzary) has just literally resurrected several of Pine Valley's most beloved, among them Dixie Martin (Cady McClain) and Zach Slater (Thorsten Kaye) — and more could be on the way! "The characters are so rich and the scripts were so much fun to work on because the characters are there — they're back! And I know the audience is going to have fun watching, and that is making all of us very happy," Lucci said. As for the reported offer she's received to continue with the show when it moves online, Lucci said, "I can only say that we're in conversations. We are in conversations. That's where we are." But she does hope to continue. "My heart is there," she said. "I think it's a very, very exciting possibility. I think that Prospect Park, the men involved there, have a wonderful, successful track record ... It could be very exciting, especially with Agnes and Lorraine." Nixon's participation, in fact, is "critical to going forward as far as I'm concerned," Lucci said. "I mean, it won't be All My Children if she's not doing it." What do you think? Would you prefer the show wraps up its story lines or do you like the idea that things are ending with a cliff-hanger? Will you watch the show online if Susan Lucci isn't part of the deal? Let us know in the comments below, and check back next week to read more about Lucci's memories of her early days in Pine Valley, the show's not-so-good years, and her lasting legacy. Susan Lucci said it best in her interview with Michael Logan at TV Guide. If you have not read it here is the link ......The View will be celebrating AMC's ending and demise with a special full-hour special episode airing September 23, if you live in the NY area or close enough The View would like to fill all the seats with AMC fans so if you want tickets to the AMC homage on The View you can mail your ticket request to: The View Salutes AMC, 320 West 66 Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10023.....Susan Lucci will be adding a new chapter in her paperback version to be released on September 13, 2011, where the actress, who is regarded as the biggest name on daytime television, tells fans what she really thinks about the events surrounding the ABC cancellation of “All My Children”. And there's more, Susan Lucci and Erika Slezak (Viki OLTL) talk to TV Guide's Michael Logan in a two-page spread in the Aug. 29-Sept. 11 issue about the shows cancellations and Brian Frons. Gotta love it!!.....No word yet on who will stay and who will go. Alicia Minshew along with Chrishell Stause have been offered jobs at other daytime shows but declined and are waiting to see what PP will come up with. Others actors feel the same....Look for JR to come tumbling down hard, when he looses it all. Young admitted that JR will have a unhappy ending. Not any happier then the fans who have lost Young to B&B. http://www.soaptownusa.com/Loose.html EXTRA! confirms that Carol Burnett, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Josh Duhamel are all in the final episode September 23rd. The last scene is a party (probably at Confusion) and it could be a scene filmed earlier that makes it appear that Leo is watching the party inserted in later, it's possible. Soapcentral (there is some confusion about this so take it with a grain of salt) Walt Willey (Jack) interview-- Walt Willey, a star of ABC’s All My Children, spoke to The Observer last week after the final day in production of the soap for the network. It wasn’t a sad day of taping, he said: “The scenes we were shooting were party scenes anyway—the atmosphere matched the scenes. It was kind of a party atmosphere. You wouldn’t know we were canceled.” And technically speaking, the show was not cancelled—the show is to live on in some form in a deal with the production company Prospect Park which is to see the show landing online. “It’s in transition, not in pause,” said Mr. Willey. “I hate change,” Mr. Willey said of the shift to “airing” All My Children online, “and I think, five days a week, we’re your only friends at that time of day. For the most part, we always drew an audience—Grandma watched, and therefore, the grandchild watched. Viewing these shows was a tradition. “I think this will reverse it. Now the grandchild will say, ‘I know how you can watch your show [online].’… I think about this crap a lot.” As for the replacement of All My Children, which is to go off the air September 23 (its replacement, the food-themed talk show The Chew, is to commence September 26), a decision that All My Children star Susan Lucci recently decried. Mr. Willey said, citing soap operas’ brand loyalty, “I think they could have done it in a far smarter business way, and they’re going to see that very shortly… Network television is eating itself for the same reason soaps are in trouble. “If ABC had not wanted so badly to get out of the business, they had a great opportunity to do what Prospect Park was doing [by broadcasting online]. I just think there’s an incredible demographic there—I wouldn’t want to see them leave the fold, these are the folks who have been watching for so long.” Mr. Willey, who does not know if he will be one of the actors returning for the Prospect Park All My Children, is embarking on a short tour entitled “A Tribute to Pine Valley” in October (including a stop at Town Hall on October 26). “It’s this thing that harkens back to the glory days,” said Mr. Willey. “We did these big shows, people are starved for that—there’s nothing like it anymore. There were these super-soap weekends at Disney—now those are gone. People are really wanting this.” http://www.observer.com/2011/09/all-my-children-star-on-cancellation-network-television-is-eating-itself/ Susan Lucci media blitz against Frons (and promoting the new chapter added to her book post AMC cancellation)... (lots of the same stuff in most interviews) From NY Post “All My Children” star Susan Lucci unleashes her fury about the cancellation of the long-running ABC soap in a blistering epilogue just added to the paperback edition of her book, “All My Life: A Memoir.” Lucci, who has played Erica Kane since 1970, blasts ABC Daytime head Brian Frons and describes how she personally berated him, saying, “I think our being in this position is the result of some very bad decisions by you.” She claims Frons installed a new head writer in 2008 who oversaw writing that was “subpar,” ordered the show moved to LA from New York and pushed out the soap’s creator, Agnes Nixon. Lucci says Frons told her in April that “All My Children” would be replaced by a food show cheaper to make. She writes, “An iconic show was losing out to greed ... If Brian Frons could show his bosses that he could save the network 40 percent ... he could keep his job even if the rest of us lost ours.” She continues, “I watched Brian Frons’ decisions destroy the production of our show and the lives of people on both sides of the country.” Lucci said Frons appeared “self-congratulatory” delivering the bad news to the cast, and he “has what, for me, is that fatal combination of ignorance and arrogance,” adding, “I cannot fathom any network executive choosing to alienate millions of loyal viewers in these economic times.” She was even tempted to call ABC and leave the message “F.U. -- and your little dog, too,” but never did. One industry source responded, “Is she bitter, or is this to get more attention for her book? Susan has done extraordinarily well from playing Erica Kane. She has had an amazing career for 41 years. It is too bad it doesn’t end on a high note.” An ABC rep said, “We have all the respect in the world for Susan, and are sorry she felt the need to write this epilogue to an otherwise incredible career.” Lucci’s rep declined to comment. All My Children star Susan Lucci tells TV Guide Magazine that the scorching new chapter in the paperback edition of her book All My Life — in which she blasts ABC Daytime chief Brian Frons as "that fatal combination of ignorance and arrogance" — was written at the request of her publisher, HarperCollins. "The book had gone to print well before the cancellation and they felt my story wasn't complete without my response to the show going off the air," Lucci says. "They wanted my honest and raw reaction to it. At first I didn't know what to say or even think. I was so upset and angry and stunned that my eyeballs were spinning in my head. But I sat down with my co-writer, Laura Morton, and we talked it through. And it is indeed raw. Very raw." In the new chapter, out September 13, the Emmy-winning actress takes direct aim at hatchet man Frons, who has become rather infamous of late for his cavalier attitude toward soaps and those who watch them. She openly blames the gradual destruction of AMC on Frons' "very bad decisions" — among them, dumping the show's genius creator Agnes Nixon and installing his close friend Chuck Pratt as head writer. Lucci tells us she has no regrets about blasting her former boss, nor did she rush into it hastily to meet a publication deadline. "We got word about the cancellation right before Easter vacation, so I spent the first part of my vacation working on the new chapter," Lucci says. "Then I went away for a while and came back to revisit the material and work on it some more. I wanted it to be candid." The actress is particularly incensed that AMC — which ends September 23 — will be replaced by a Frons-developed reality food show called The Chew. "I wake up in the middle of the night and this cancellation still seems so surreal. Is it really over? How could ABC have let us go like this for a cooking show?" says Lucci, who doesn't discount the buzz that the network has secretly wanted out of the suds business for years. "Was there disdain for daytime drama on the part of Brian Frons? Did he ever really like what we did at All My Children?" With the approach of The Chew and The Revolution, a weight-loss show due to replace One Life to Live in January, Lucci feels ABC Daytime "has entered an era where cheaper is better. We are at a crossroads and I think the network has taken the wrong turn." In response to Lucci's new chapter, ABC issued this biting retort: "We have all the respect in the world for Susan, and are sorry she felt the need to write this epilogue to an otherwise incredible career." The "epilogue" to her "career?" Puh-leeze! Lucci, who's been meeting with lots of TV bigwigs lately, including Desperate Housewives' Marc Cherry, tells us she'll soon report for work on her fourth episode of TV Land's Hot in Cleveland where she plays herself and the arch-enemy of Wendie Malick's character Victoria Chase. Better watch out, Victoria, La Looch is on fire! http://www.tvguide.com/News/Susan-Lucci-Memoir-1037029.aspx Daytime Confidential (more of the same) http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/2011/09/03/susan-lucci-on-brian-frons-he-has-that-fatal-combination-of-ignorance-and-arrogance Susan Lucci reportedly says NO to Prospect Park offer to continue with the show-- Deadline is reporting Susan Lucci has turned down Prospect Park's offer to stay on with All My Children. According to the site, Prospect Park went to La Lucci with an offer to pay the same salary she makes at ABC. The soap diva reportedly rejected their offer after asking for more money, to work less hours and to get a guarantee for a primetime series. Deadline claims Prospect Park is going back to the drawing board and will focus on ratings darling One Life To Live and shelve AMC until it can regroup. http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/2011/09/06/breaking-news-susan-lucci-nixes-prospect-parks-offer (rumors are Agnes Nixon is trying to bridge the gap and convince Lucci to reconsider) TV Guide Network Tribute to AMC airs this weekend (9/11 at 8p eastern) With All My Children’s time on ABC rapidly nearing its end, the TV Guide Network will be paying tribute to the iconic show by airing All My Children: The Stars, Stories and Secrets on September 11. Hosted by Cameron Mathison, it will feature interviews with Susan Lucci, Michael E. Knight, Rebecca Budig, Debbie Morgan, Josh Duhamel, Kim Delaney and Eva LaRue. The one-hour special will give fans a chance to relive the drama, romances, catfights and special guests who have popped up in Pine Valley over the years. Watch a preview of TV Guide’s special after the jump and then tune in at 8 PM EST on Sept. 11. (just my 2cents but maybe not the best date to air a tribute show for a soap but thats just me) |

With the so-called recent announcement that Lucci declined to go with Prospect because she wanted more money and a primetime show sources say "Not True" this was a set up by ABC to make Lucci look bad. Sources say since Ms Lucci recently denounced ABC and Brian Frons in her latest added on chapter in her new book "All My Life" ABC decided to fight back to make her look bad. How could they do this to the one person who has been most loyal to them? We will hear the whole truth and nothing but the truth when she appears on the View and also makes a public announcement. I am putting my money behind Susan's loyalty and ABC's bullshit!!......In a recent interview with Walt Wiley he talked about the last day of taping, "It wasn’t a sad day of taping, the scenes we were shooting were party scenes, the atmosphere matched the scenes. It was kind of a party atmosphere. You wouldn’t know we were canceled.”....I am hearing whispers and these are just whispers for now, but have you noticed how much Scott has been talking about his dad as of late? When soaps do that the person usually returns, so WHAT IF......David has Stuart and he is alive at Orpheus, David was at the Chandler mansion the night that Stuart was shot. At the height of the Vietnam War in the show's 1972-73 season, Fickett delivered a touching monologue expressing her character's doubts about the war and fears about her drafted son. Ruth's speech resonated with millions of viewers across America with the same doubts and fears. It also won Fickett an Emmy in 1973, the first ever awarded to a performer in a daytime drama. With Ruth and her doctor husband as the drama's tent-pole characters, "All My Children" became the top-rated daytime TV drama in 1978. Ray MacDonnell played the role of Dr. Joe Martin, Fickett's TV husband. Fickett "never really acted," MacDonnell said in 2008. "She was just a wonderful human being and a delight to work with. The daytime drama was licensed by production company Prospect Park earlier this summer and is slated to begin airing on the internet, with new content, in 2012. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/news/gma-and-the-view-give-final-nods-to-all-my-children First Look at SMGs Return All My Children will soon end its staggering 41-year run but not before one of its most famous grads drops in to say goodbye. Ringer star Sarah Michelle Gellar, who won a 1995 Daytime Emmy as Kendall Hart, the wicked, sexually audacious daughter of Erica Kane, will return to the ABC soap September 21. Gellar approached the show herself, specifically asking not to play Kendall since the role is now owned by Alicia Minshew — so instead she's going to play a delusional patient at Pine Valley Hospital who thinks she's Erica's daughter! The first person Gellar's character encounters — and recognizes — is Dr. Maria Santos Grey, played by fellow AMC alum Eva La Rue (CSI: Miami). Says the soap's exec producer Julie Carruthers: "It was a great pleasure to welcome Sarah back to Pine Valley and especially fun to have her character wink to the audience with fun lines that referenced her previous character." http://www.tvguide.com/News/Exclusive-Look-Sarah-1037243.aspx AMC Cast Farewell video interview (lots of actors and great old scenes) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqyIWzosNq8 Alicia Minshew interview-- Alicia Minshew has played one of the most popular characters on ABC’s All My Children since 2002. As Erica Kane’s (Susan Lucci) daughter, Kendall Hart, fans have gone from hating her devious ways to loving the woman she has become. With the broadcast end of the daytime soap approaching next Friday, Minshew reveals to The Hollywood Reporter exclusively that she wouldn’t return fulltime to Prospect Park’s online continuation of the series. “I know they are starting to approach people now,” Minshew tells us. “If they were to come to me and ask me to do it [and] if I could work it out where I could maybe be recurring, I could pop in every now and then, I could work with these people that I love and still be a part of this. I would be open to that.” Otherwise, the actress tells us that she’s ready to do something fresh. “Something funny. Something light,” she says. “I'd love to do a sitcom,” she adds. “You know, but I don’t really get a chance to do stuff like that when I'm on a soap, because it's a daytime drama, so everything is very dramatic. So, I'm really open to kind of whatever the universe is going to lay my way, whatever it is… but I'm leaning towards doing something funny in life, because I enjoy that and because I know I can do it. I’m craving something that's completely the opposite of what I've been doing.” Meanwhile, her TV mom and close friend, Lucci, has been making recent headlines resulting from rewrites to her memoir that reveal she isn’t happy at all with ABC brass for canceling the show. She writes among other critiques that the head of the network’s daytime unit, Brian Frons, has "that fatal combination of ignorance and arrogance." Minshew says even she’s surprised by her cast mate’s fury. “I knew that she did not like it, but I did not know the level at which she was… I mean, she was really pissed,” she tells us. “ But, you know what? Good for her. I mean, for God's sakes the woman has been on that show for so long. It has been her life. And she should feel free to say however she feels.” On the other hand, Minshew says she understands the business reasons for canceling the show. “If talk shows and reality TV is cheaper to produce,” she says. “And you have to do it to save money, then you've got to do it. It is kind of changing with the times.” And as for the big question of whether Lucci will be returning for the online incarnation of the series? “As far as I heard, Susan said no,” Minshew tells us. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/all-my-childrens-alicia-minshew-236006 |

The studio audience will be filled with devoted daytime and ALL MY CHILDREN fans whose continued passion and commitment have made "AMC" an iconic staple of daytime television We Love Soaps More Spoilers & Tribute Section Sept 27th SOD / SOW AMC's Final Week... A source notes the original 2-hour finale of AMC would have been a flash-forward. We would have seen where the characters ended up several years later. It was beautiful. If you read between the lines, SOD hints that Josh Duhamel taped scenes that would have played into that. There will be a cliffhanger instead. Prospect Park wanted one. Nixon proposed the one that will air. PP loved it. Barr feels the ending still encompasses a lot of what LB/AN wanted to do originally. But she does relay that the cliffhanger is shocking and sort of sad. You're suprised but you understand. Jill Larson says their EP sees the last 4 episodes as the finale episodes, not just 9/23. They purposely set up more time to tape these episodes. For example, Susan's final scene was shot in a cinematic way. Eakes & Larson sang "Put On a Happy Face" during the last day of filming. There's several pictures of Babe and JR. In one picture she's taking a gun from his hand. In another he has his hands around her neck (probably not to strangle her). She's in white but doesn't look as dead in white as Gillian did. SOD says their sources are also telling them Lucci wanted shorter hours and a prime-time development deal to sign on sign on with PP/AMC 2.0. PP/Lucci hadn't responded to requests for comments at press-time An AMCer that's part of the group helping PP/AFTRA/AMC come to terms notes it's disappointing (the potential delay of production due to those negotiations hitting a roadblock) but they're still moving forward with their efforts BTS to make AMC 2.0 come to fruition. SMG, who appear on 9/21 as a patient, notes she learned to memorize lines quickly from AMC because Kendall had no friends when she played her so there would be many monologues. It helped her getting all the technical aspects of the business. From a quick look, the DAYS cover SOD has a better tribute than the AMC cover SOD from the week before. SOD's Tribute section: AMC Cast photos from 1973, 76, 82, 96, 99, 00, 04 To the Alumni. Fondest AMC memory? James Scott: Being in a bubble bath with Alicia. Michael Lowry: Chris Bruno's fart medley being broadcast over the PA system at the studio. PTB were not happy. Kate Collins: Dancing with James Mitchell. James was a true dancer. Leven Rambin: The Boca Jerica wedding. Releaxing, w/people she adored professionally and personally. John Callahan: The look on Eva;s face the first time she saw him. Bruno & Mark Consuelos face when he invited them to play ball at Yankee Stadium. Working w/MEK and trying not to laugh. Eden Riegel: Coming out. She already had a strong connection with Lucci but that made it bigger. MCE: Running lines at the windows in NY with her co-stars. Matt Borlenghi: Lucci warmly welcoming him to the show. He sometimes wishes he didn't quit 2 years later. Kathleen Noone talks about her time on AMC. Mark's intervention being one of her fonder memories. There's a long Bon Voyage section - The Off Screen History of AMC - Noteworthy Days - Thanks For the Memories (Ripa, LaRue, Duhamel, Knight, Mathison, Minshew, Morgan, Penny, Hughes, Budig, Larson, Willey) reflect on the experience at AMC or/and stand-out moments. Really nice section. The Ones Who Got Away: Erika Slezak tried out for Mary. Phil Carey tried out for Palmer. Julia Roberts tried out for Linda Warner (a role that went to another Oscar winner - Melissa Leo). Julie Benz tried out for Kendall in 1992. Julianna Marguilies and Daisy Fuentes tried out for Maria. There's an interview with Peter Bergman and Taylor Miller about Cliff/Nina who they note were probably AMC's biggest supercouple of that decade. They have a section in SOD trying to get AMC fans into DAYS. Introuducing the characters and comparing AMC characters to DAYS ones. Being on AMC has given her everything she has in her life now personally speaking w/Kaye introducing her to her hubby. Favorite catfight was the Kenlee Fusion lotion/water/Palmer one. She also leaves quite a nice message to fans, that she feels they've touched her just as much as the fans feel she's touched them. Soapcentral Interview with Vincent Irizarry (long--about his future and last days of filming) http://soaps.sheknows.com/allmychildren/news/id/19827/ Cameron Mathison (Ryan) Interview On GMA; Plus His Farewell Tour Of AMC Set During an appearance as a GOOD MORNING AMERICA special correspondent earlier today, Cameron Mathison (Ryan) announced that he and several other ALL MY CHILDREN castmembers are in negotiations with Prospect Park to join their on-line reboot of the soap! "I have been given permission to announce that I and others from ALL MY CHILDREN have been approached by the company, Prospect Park, who bought AMC with the intention to move it online," he shared. "Just as soaps were very pivotal in the transition from radio to television, they will be right in the thick of things again in the transition from television to the Internet." Mathison added that while there are a few more details to be hammered out before any contracts are finalized, "it's looking very good." Pending union approval on the final contracts with AMC and the ONE LIFE TO LIVE stars who have already signed on with the production company, Prospect Park hopes to launch both soaps on an Internet channel in January 2012. Check out a video clip of Mathison's appearance on GMA this morning below, where he gives a tour of the iconic AMC set and makes the big announcement! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7J4jkjdV_0 SOD For those that watched the show, they liken the original AMC finale to the finale of the show "Six Feet Under" (never watched that show so I don't know how useful that is) -It was a "beautiful" and "heartwarming" glimpse into the future of the characters, a few years down the road -SOD does not say who they're talking about but I think it's obvious: Someone who returned during the summer pre-taped material to be included in this future stuff, and so it had to go unused. So Leo at ConFusion in a suit wasn't just a meaningless promo shot. Such a shame given that Rebecca Budig most likely isn't continuing on with the show. SON |

A few finale spoilers, interviews and tidbits.... Soaptown Loose Lips Word is out that many of the cast are NOW being approached to continue with the show online or where ever it ends up, and Alicia Minshew has recently stated “If they were to come to me and ask me to do it [and] if I could work it out where I could maybe be recurring, I could pop in every now and then, I could work with these people that I love and still be a part of this. I would be open to that.” Otherwise, the actress says that she’s ready to do something fresh. Something funny. Something light.....Rumor has it that the finale of AMC will end in disaster while Walt Wiley says it ends in a party mode. With only one week left we will see what will comes to pass. Agnes Nixon did say that she was going to do the finale with viewers wanting more. Guess we will have to wait and see how it all ends....ABC posted a Farewell to AMC for them perhaps but not for all the fans who are hoping we will see the residents of PV come this January. http://www.soaptownusa.com/Loose.html Hartley and Mathison sign on with Prospect Park Just days before All My Children is due to serve up its final broadcast episode on ABC, the producers of the show’s online continuation have signed its first cast members. “Pending a final agreement with AFTRA, Prospect Park has confirmed that … Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) and Lindsay Hartley (Dr. Cara Castillo Martin) have agreed to deals to join the company’s new production of All My Children,” Prospect Park, an upstart media venture, announced in a statement on Monday. “This marks the first confirmation of cast members since Prospect Park began planning for the [AMC] production to live on the new online network beyond its final televised date on ABC this week.” AMC icon Susan Lucci, as previously reported, thus far has declined Prospect Park’s offer to have her reprise her role of Erica Kane. Earlier this month, Prospect Park announced that One Life to Live‘s Erika Slezak (Viki), Michael Easton (aka John McBain), Kassie DePaiva (Blair) and Ted King (Tomas) had reached agreements to participate in the online version of AMC‘s sister soap, which is set to sign off of ABC in January 2012. Prospect Park says it will announce the start date of AMC‘s new production in the coming weeks. http://www.tvline.com/2011/09/all-my-children-mathison-hartley-sign-prospect-park/ Agnes Nixon and the Cast Look Back After nearly 42 years of scandalous affairs, decades-long rivalries, fairy tale romances, kidnapped babies, serial killers, resurrected loved ones and the occasional Pennsylvania tornado, All My Children as fans have known it will come to an end on Friday. Two weeks before production wrapped, TVGuide.com spent a few days behind the scenes of Pine Valley as writers, producers and cast performed something of a three-ring circus, rallying to deliver what they hoped would be a satisfying conclusion for their loyal viewers. During one morning meeting, longtime director Steven Williford planned out the moment in which Angie (Debbi Morgan) would get her sight back, enacting how she would stumble, joyful and teary-eyed, toward Jessie (Darnell Williams). Downstairs on set at the Pine Valley police station, Tad (Michael E. Knight) and Dixie (Cady McClain) -- together, at last — confronted David (Vincent Irizarry) perhaps for the final time, begging to know who else he had brought back from the dead, literally. In the editing bays, producers watched tape of JR's (Jacob Young) final scenes, in which he seems to be hitting rock bottom. Christina Bennett Lind, who plays Bianca, dropped by on her day off to pick up gifts fans had sent congratulating her on her first love scene with Marissa (Sarah Glendening). In the hallways of the production offices, producers who have been with the show for years continued to talk about how wonderful it was having Josh Duhamel reprise the role of Leo DuPres, not to mention a cameo from Carol Burnett, who's declared herself one of All My Children's biggest fans. A few miles away, at the Descanso Gardens, Ryan (Cameron Mathison) and Greenlee (Rebecca Budig) played red rover with Emma and then embraced while looking meaningfully, as they so often do, into the sunny distance... We asked the actors who've dedicated the bulk of their careers to the now-canceled show -- Susan Lucci, Michael E. Knight, Cameron Mathison and Rebecca Budig — along with executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers and series creator Agnes Nixon to talk about the last few months building and taking down Pine Valley, the challenge of ending decades' worth of story, and what the future online holds: How do you wrap almost 42 years of storytelling into a 36-minute episode? Carruthers: The writers felt an immense amount of pressure... Everybody wants everything. We wanted it all. We wanted to see all the faces. We kind of honed in on the feel-good parts of Pine Valley, which is ultimately, I think why the audience watches. Yeah, they want the dish, they want to be outraged, but at the same time, watching is like going home. I think that's why the cancellation was huge news. It's like, "Wait a minute, that's like home to me." Budig: I don't know if anyone will ever really feel satisfied because it's a bummer that it's going off the air. I think that no matter what we do, no matter how good it is, most people are left disappointed. I hope not though! Mathison: In some cases, I think it's as simple as seeing your favorite couple back together. Nixon: Wrapping the run on ABC wasn't as important to me as keeping the show interesting and making people want to watch it once it began again online. We did not wrap everything up with people fading into the sunset with happy endings. It's a continued story. The last episode, we think, will make people want to come back very much to get some answers. Lucci: Knowing how Agnes writes, the end is not shocking at all. I knew she wouldn't tie it up in a neat bow. There are several cliff-hangers. How did you go about crafting the show's final ABC broadcasts? What were the mandates for the big goodbye? Obviously, you wanted to bring back certain characters — some of whom are dead. Nixon: It isn't as far-fetched as one might think! Also, it's David Heyward, and one never knows with him... But yes, we wanted to bring back a lot of the favorite characters who were no longer on the show. The last episodes took three months to write because I just think we were giving the audience exactly what they want. You watch and tell us. Carruthers: We didn't want everything so sugary and saccharine that in the last two weeks people would be saying, "Could they lay it on any thicker?" ... Some people will be able to rise above their conflicts, others won't be as lucky or strong or they'll have so many things weighing against them that it's impossible. We want tears and laughter and warmth. We want you to want to stay there and have it not be over. We want it to be the best feeling. Like the best emotional experience and yet true to All My Children and what it represents, which is a tall order. And you have to sort of pay off the stories you're in the process of telling. It wasn't about the bells and buzzers. Nixon: The cliff-hangers are true to what I feel has been part of the character of All My Children in that they're all related solely to characters and personal emotions. Dixie (McClaine), who sparked fan outrage when she was killed by poison pancakes, came back for several episodes. So did Brooke (Julia Barr) and Adam (David Canary). How did that go? Nixon: Ooh, the tension between Brooke and Erica is delicious. Lucci: David's presence has been so missed. It was truly most exciting for me to have him and Julia back because they were people I worked with so much. On set these past few weeks, I would be running around and have to stop because there's David on a monitor, you know, looking fabulous. It's been so fun playing scenes with them again. I know the audience has missed them very much. Knight: Cady and I weren't even supposed to be together if I remember correctly. We weren't supposed to be a couple. She was pregnant by Adam Chandler, my nemesis. But I think there was a period where I realized we did have something special, when Tad and Dixie went on the run together. Cady and I had a very easy chemistry with a lot of humor that played as romance. The director used to come out and go, "Sexy as a fish!" ... It's been so great for me, having her back. What have these last days on set been like? Lucci: Just before we shot the final scene, Rebecca and I caught each other's eye and both of us just started to tear up. It's been happening to all of us. The emotions come over you when you least expect it. Cameron and I were talking about it, how it just doesn't seem real. I don't know if it's a protective mechanism. At the same time, I'm blown away by how everybody has continued to work on all cylinders, with a great attitude and smile on their face and no whining. And with Agnes here, it's been amazing. Mathison: I'm in denial. I don't think I'm really even acknowledging the end. It's been my life for so long. I've known these people, the cast, the crew, longer than I've known my wife and kids. The whole thing is just surreal. Carruthers: The show ending actually raised the bar in some ways. When you don't have a lot of tomorrows left, hitting your marks takes on a whole new meaning. Everybody's been excited by the material and the stories and having people come back. I'm sure it'll be sad when everybody walks out of the door, but right now, people are excited to be here. It's not only a historical time, but it's kind of a privilege and an honor to be a part of this time. How did you feel at the time the show was canceled, and everything that led up to that? Knight: Agnes was shoved to the side very unceremoniously a few years back by people who shouldn't be in this industry as far as I'm concerned. They didn't know what they were doing... It ended up taking us down. Nixon: I was saddened, but I saw it coming because the ratings were going down and personally I felt the show wasn't being written as it should. It wasn't true to the characters. You know, they had focus groups every three or four months, and I went every time knowing what I would hear. "Oh, we still love the characters, but the stories don't work for us. What happened?" So, it wasn't a total surprise to me... I was the saddest when they killed Stuart. Lucci: The fans were very vocal about not recognizing the character. I wondered why it was allowed to go on so long. I wondered why Lorraine was brought in for two weeks and we were all so happy and then the show got canceled. You could listen to the focus groups and see the ratings were dropping and know that someone was off. Knight: It's been a real roller coaster the last couple of years. We've been doing more with less [money], I think everybody's just sort of been biting the bullet to get through... It's been alternately rewarding and exciting and frustrating and humiliating. Different people came in and tried to adapt the show to ideas they thought were more exciting or whatever, and it didn't work. Then they brought Agnes just to tie everything up in a short amount of time. We've been working at an almost surreal pace. What do you think about the show continuing online? [Mathison and Lindsay Hartley on Monday signed on to the Web series, while Young and Morgan have joined The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, respectively.] Nixon: Why wouldn't our fans watch online? You don't have to watch at 1 o'clock now — you can watch them any time of day and catch up on what you missed. I know it's a transition, but maybe the thing we're making is electronic history. There's no reason this won't work. The story is my world. I call it my real world of make-believe. These people live 24 hours a day for me, and I have no problems with anticipating and creating new stories. ... At the same time, until deals are done, I can't even start to think about plots until we know who we have to plot about. [As for Susan Lucci continuing with the show], she and I are very good friends, but neither one of us wants to talk about that; it's off limits. Lucci: I'll say this: it won't be All My Children if Agnes doesn't do it. Knight: I would say if there is a future for the characters we had on the show, it would have to be under Agnes or someone of her choosing because, for example, my character has been so marginalized over the years, I just don't see how he can carry forward with any relevance because it doesn't make sense... I'm not saying it's not possible, because Agnes is a miracle worker, but I would be surprised. I think she's seen real idiots come in and mess with her legacy and I think she's passionate about it. She could shake things up. You never know. Budig: I don't pooh-pooh anything, and I don't know what they're offering, so who knows? In my estimation, these people who own the show don't have to ask any of us to participate — it's a business and they own the show, they can do whatever they want. What has been the most fun you've had on the show? Budig: I threw a girl off a yacht. I also remember I had this one dream that I was on Gilligan's Island and I was Mary Ann, and Leo was Gilligan ,and Palmer was in it. Palmer was Howell, and Leo's mom was the Mrs. Howell. There was the time I had to dress like a green butterfly trapeze artist. That might have been, when I was like, "Really, what have I done with my life?" Mathison: I loved my first story line. When I came on to the show, Ryan was broke, a con man. He meets Gillian (Esta TerBlanche), this princess from Europe that he thinks is loaded. She's hot, and Ryan just woos her and uses his charm to get her to fall for him, and he also tells her he's loaded. Meanwhile, he has no idea that she's broke and was also using him. So they get married for all the wrong reasons, and then find out they're both broke... but then, of course, they fall in love for all the right reasons. That was such a fun, smart story. Do you remember being hired on All My Children? Lucci: I remember my audition script. I remember everything. I came in Episode 10, and there were four of us, all playing teenagers, so that's already visionary Agnes in 1970 writing a show where each generation had a major storyline. I hadn't seen it before. I remember thinking Erica had the possibilities to be a modern-day Scarlett O'Hara. I was also moved by her relationship with her mother, Mona. I mean, they would have knock-down-drag-out fights. I have to tell you, my own mother and I loved their scenes, too. We would laugh because they rang true. Budig: I grew up watching the show, so when I started, I was like, "Oh my God. There's Erica! There's Adam!" It was bizarre because I felt like I knew them. I felt so honored, I still feel so honored. Mathison: Oh, totally. Completely. I was shooting in Toronto, I was pretty much the local Canadian guy in all of these American productions. I was on Studio 54 with Mike Meyers and Neve Campbell and Ryan Phillippe and Salma Hayek and I got the call that I had booked the part and I felt like so cool. And it's been a good life. It's maybe not everybody's ultimate goal in the world of acting. But for me, it's a really good fit for my priorities and what I like in life. Budig: Greenlee says the craziest things, I couldn't stay away. All My Children is often cited as daytime's most topical soap. What issues are you most proud to have addressed? Budig: I liked when Fusion was started. I thought that was like...that was to me very different for daytime that these women were sort of taking over the canvas. I mean really. And it was so female dominated, which you just don't see. It's usually all about the men, and the women are all weak and kind of, I don't know, and I just think that on our show we have strong women. Nixon: You know, growing up as a child in the racist South, I would ride buses in which distinguished black men and ladies would have to walk past me to stand in the back of the bus. That really does have an effect on someone. We did stories about teenage prostitution, we were the first to deal with gay culture and having the first lesbian on daytime. We did a yearlong story on AIDS, alcoholism, child abuse... There's been a lot. Tell us what you can about how it all ends. Carruthers: What you get — and this was our No. 1 priority — is a sense of family. So, all of the families, whether they're at the height of dysfunction or they're most connected, all the families come together in one way or another. Our last week is a true tribute to the families that make up the canvas of Pine Valley. Trust me, you will need a Kleenex every day of the final week. Knight: Our major strength in soaps is legacy, the families and people who you get to know and invite into your living room 20 years in a row. They brought Agnes, which was a blessing for us because we get to revisit some of that legacy and that family stuff. The history of the show didn't mean so much for a while, for maybe the last 10 years. I get a curtain call that I don't think I would have without them. Lucci: Adam and Brooke are throwing a party in the final episode, and I was surrounded by the whole cast, so the setting was spectacular and perfect for the last day of shooting. I looked out to all the crew and just mentally took pictures of all of them. And then the last night was a real outpouring of love from the cast and the crew to Agnes. At the end, she said she wanted to sing a song that she felt was really appropriate and she wanted us to sing it with her. It was the Noel Coward song "I'll See You Again." She sang beautifully, and everyone joined in. I will say after that there wasn't a dry eye in the house. TV Guide David Canary Interview/Article It's sure to be a teary goodbye for fans of "All My Children." The daytime soap opera known for its humor, its exploration of social issues and its quest to win Susan Lucci an Emmy will end its 41-year ABC run on Friday. Among the emotional will be David Canary, who grew up in Massillon and spent more than 26 years on "All My Children." He won five Emmy Awards for playing identical twin brothers Adam and Stuart Chandler. Adam was the powerful, scheming and mercurial Chandler. Stuart was the kind, generous and gentle brother. "Playing twins on a five-day-a-week show was one of the best gigs of my life," Canary said from his home in Connecticut. "It forced me to stay in shape, both physically and mentally. I 'made believe' in more acute angles than I thought possible. I played two people at once, and I knew them both from their loftiest dreams to their nastiest schemes. It was a gas. And, man, was it fun." Canary retired in February 2010 but returned to the set for a reunion episode that also features former "All My Children" regulars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lee Meriwether, Justin Bruening and Ray MacDonnell. It airs at 1 p.m. today on WEWS Channel 5. ABC executives announced in April that they were dropping two of their three remaining soap operas, "All My Children," which premiered Jan. 5, 1970, and "One Life to Live," which started in July 1968. Both were created by pioneering producer Agnes Nixon. Starting Monday, "All My Children" will be replaced by "The Chew," with Cleveland native Michael Symon as one of the hosts. A cross between "The View" and a cooking show, it's considerably cheaper to produce than a soap opera. The Chew" might not match the ratings of "All My Children," but ABC expects to save 30 percent to 40 percent in production costs. "One Life to Live" will be replaced in January by "The Revolution," a weight-loss show from the producers of "The Biggest Loser." Networks say soaps are too costly to produce After CBS dumped the even-longer-running "The Guiding Light" and "As the World Turns," ABC's move hardly shocked Canary. "Not really a surprise," said the 1950s member of the Massillon Tigers football team at Washington High School. "The rumor of death by cancellation had been circulating for some time. The reason given was simply that the soap opera was too expensive and that the networks couldn't afford it." The three broadcast networks aired 19 daytime serials during the 1969-70 season. When "One Life to Live" leaves the air, there will be only four remaining soap operas: "General Hospital" on ABC, "Days of Our Lives" on NBC, and "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful" on CBS. "My feelings were ameliorated by the timing of the announcement -- a year after my formal retirement," Canary, 73, said of the "All My Children" cancellation. "I felt a great loss for the other actors and crew . . . but my own personal retirement in 2010 led to a long sigh of relief to be rid of the burden of four or five shows a week stacked on my shoulders by Adam and Stuart. But I miss them and was grateful to be there at the end." Ratings for soap operas have been gradually declining for the past four decades. At the time the cancellation notice was issued, "All my Children" was averaging 2.5 million viewers, down 9 percent from the previous season. "Is it a sign of the times, or are the networks making a mistake by slashing soaps to shreds?" said Canary, whose first taste of national fame was as Ponderosa foreman Candy in a 1967-70 stint on NBC's "Bonanza." "Frankly, I don't pretend to be able to answer that question. But if asked if I prefer daytime drama over reality TV, my vote unequivocally goes to the former. I think we all need a little creativity and maybe even a little fantasy in our lives -- something more than opinion telecasts and trivia contests." Soap tackled issues of the day Set in the fictional Philadelphia suburb of Pine Valley, "All My Children" gained wider pop-culture recognition when Lucci's portrayal of Erica Kane repeatedly failed to win an Emmy. After going 0-for-18 at the annual awards ceremony, she finally took home the prize in 1999. "It became the soap opera outside the soap opera," said Michael Logan, the resident soap opera expert at TV Guide. "Once that long national nightmare was over, the ratings for the daytime Emmys plummeted. But it did increase awareness of 'All My Children.' " Yet the Lucci losing streak overshadowed what Nixon had done with the soap opera form. "The real legacy of 'All My Children' is that Agnes Nixon made her show about issues," Logan said. "She had an anti-Vietnam War story in the early '70s. Erica was the first character to have a legal abortion on television. It proved that the audience was willing to broaden its expectation of what a soap opera could do. It was not only the most adult, most relevant soap opera, it showed what soaps could be at their best." Honored with more than 30 Emmy Awards, including three for best daytime drama, "All My Children" also presented stories about AIDS, rape, alcoholism, spousal abuse and racial bias. The licensing rights to "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" have been sold to Prospect Park, a production company that plans to continue both on the Internet. "It's a very serious plan, but Debbi Morgan [who plays Angie Hubbard] already has announced she's going to 'The Young and the Restless' and Jacob Young [who plays JR Chandler] is going back to 'The Bold and the Beautiful,' " Logan said. "And several other actors on the show have said they don't want to do it. More than most, this has been a star-driven soap, and without the stars, going on is a huge question mark." The combination of issues and stars was a potent one for "All My Children." "Most soaps have one or two iconic stars, but this one had a community of them," Logan said. "It was a showy kind of soap opera, profound and outrageous, and David Canary was an unbelievable contributor. He captivated the audience with the sweetness of Stuart and the nastiness of Adam. He was on the top of his game to the very end." This is how Canary summed up that run in an email: "Pretty much everything I have to say about my career on 'All My Children' can be said in two words: thank you. For everything . . . Thank you, Agnes Nixon. You trusted me with some delicate and powerful stuff. And you let me run with it. Uh, I guess that's more than two words. But in case anybody missed them: thank you." http://www.cleveland.com/tv-blog/index.ssf/2011/09/massillons_david_canary_says_his_time_on_all_my_children_was_a_gas.html Alicia Minshew Interview- Alicia Minshew may have told The Hollywood Reporter exclusively that she’s ready to move on from her role as Kendall Hart on ABC’s All My Children, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t miss calling Pine Valley her home away from home. “Obviously, I would miss the people that I worked with,” Minshew tells THR exclusively. “All of these people have become my best friends. They have become very close to me. They are like my second family.” “In terms of playing the character, Kendall,” she continues. “If you are going to be on a soap, she was a great character to play, because she had sort of a bad, bitchy side, and then she also was a mother and she was a business woman, and she could laugh, she could cry. I got to kind of play every emotion with her. She is a very well-rounded woman.” We spoke to Minshew about the final day of shooting on the daytime show, Prospect Park’s plans to move the series online, and what fans can expect on the show’s last week. The Hollywood Reporter: What was the last day of shooting like on the show? Alicia Minshew: Well, it was surreal. The whole cast was in it, and it is always fun when the whole cast was around. It is almost like we are just getting ready to go to a big party… So we were all in a great mood, having fun, we were all together. And then as it got closer and closer to the final scene, when they said, ‘Item last,’ we all kind of looked at each other… I think maybe that’s when it sunk in, like wow. And I looked over at Susan Lucci, she looked sad. I mean, she was very quiet and I looked over at her and that’s when it kind of hit me. I thought, ‘This is really happening,’ and I was trying to figure how Susan was feeling in that moment, being that she had been on the show for, you know, 40 years. I thought, ‘If I'm feeling sad, I cannot even imagine how she is feeling.’ So, we did the scene and I had a moment or two with my friend, Rebecca [Budig], and cried a little bit. And then Agnes Nixon, the creator of the show came out and brought us this beautiful cake and we did a champagne toast, and the whole cast and crew were there. There were hundreds of us. And I think that is when everybody realized this is a big deal. This is the end of an era. So, then it became emotional, I mean even some of the guys were crying. We just said see you later, because we all feel like we are always going to be friends. We are always going to be connected. THR: What are your thoughts on Prospect Park taking the show online? Minshew: I'm excited that somebody else bought the show. And I think it is great for the fans, because these fans are devastated that this show is over. So, if this is a way to keep it going, then good for them. I think it is great. THR: You are open to joining the Prospect Park production in a recurring role, but not fulltime. What’s the feeling you’re getting from your cast mates on their plans? Minshew: I think I'm getting mixed. I know some people, and I'm not obviously saying names. I know some people that are dying to do the online thing. They need the work, they love the people. Some people just started on the show and they are not ready to leave. There are others who are a little bit older and who want to do the online thing. Then, there are others like myself that have had a good run and are ready to move on. THR: What should fans expect from the Prospect Park project? Minshew: Well, from what we've been told… they have the ability to use the same people, they want to shoot it the same way. They have already bought the sets from us. They basically want to pick up where we left off… If they're completely capable of doing that, I don’t know. I mean, they seem like really smart guys, because we've met them. But, they've told us they're hoping to be on the air by January. They hope to be starting to tape by late November, and they will contact people on an individual basis and let them know what they wanted from them. And that is kind of where they sort of left us. So, again, this is what we've been told and it is kind of up in the air at this point. I don't know if they are going to do a small group or a large group, if they are going to kill some people off. Honestly, we haven't been told much. So, that’s why we are just sort of waiting to see what happens. And that's why in my mind, I'm looking ahead. And, again, even if they do come to me, we'll see what can be worked out. But I'm still looking ahead to do other things. THR: What can fans expect for your character and the show as it heads to its last broadcast episode on Sept. 23? Minshew: Well, I think first of all, they are going to see a lot of familiar, familiar faces. We're just going to make them very happy because of people from the past, people that have been gone. I think they are going to be happy seeing some faces that they have not been seeing in a while. And they are going to see some closure on different story lines. My character and her husband, Zach [Thorsten Kaye], are going to have some nice moments. It is the kind of moments that the fans have always wanted. They want Zach and Kendall to have sort of things be good. They want Adam [David Canary] and Dixie [Cady McClain] to have things be good, so you will see some story lines wrapping up in a very lovely way. Like, a lot of these couples will come to live happily every after. Of course, there's a cliffhanger, and of course, I can't tell you what that is. But, even though the show is going off the air, they had to leave you with something. They had to leave you with something where you are going, ‘Hmm, I wonder what that means.’ But it does not just end happily ever after for everybody, maybe for some people it does. THR: What would you like to say to the fans? Minshew: Oh, that's a good one. That one can make me cry a little bit. I've been touched by the fans for these past nine-and-a-half years in such a deep way. Stories that people have told me are just unbelievable and I think that our fans, especially the daytime fans are the most loyal fans I have ever seen. And I really just want to thank them for just supporting me and being so kind to me, and my husband, and my child, and gifts and letters, and I'm so grateful that they've watched me and I've been a part of their family over all of these years. It really has changed my life, so I really just want to thank them for sticking with me and just for supporting me. They've been unbelievable to me. In ways that I can't even tell you. Just unbelievable. Everyday I meet some, and they're warm and loving to me, and that means that I did my job, you know, that I did my job the right way. Minshew is represented by Newman-Thomas Management. All My Children’s final episode on ABC airs Friday, Sept. 23 at 1 pm PT/ Noon ET. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/all-my-childrens-alicia-minshew-236540 and in true soap fashion more from Minshew... Though Alicia Minshew's recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter made it sound like her tenure as AMC's Kendall was sure to end with the show's ABC bow on September 23, the actress tells Digest that she has now been approached by Prospect Park and is in talks with them. "I don't want anyone to think that I would ever give up on the show,” she says. "I mean, if I just walked away and said, 'No, thank you,' to Prospect Park, that would be one thing, but what I've said is, 'I am open to being a part of this, if you can make it work for me and my family.' Nothing has been worked out with me yet; we're trying to figure things out and figure out what is going to work out best for me given that at some point, I have to return to the East Coast," where her husband Richie Herschenfeld's businesses are based. "My agent has been telling them, 'Listen, forget about any interview about, "She wants to move on to other things." What it boils down to, really, is what is going to be best for Alicia and her family. Does she want to be a part of it? Yes. Can you make this work for her and her family? We don't know.' So that's what we're talking about." And those discussions are going well, Minshew says. "They are really nice and really smart and they get it. They understand about family, which I love. It's really promising. I have my fingers crossed. I am hopeful that they'll make it work for me and the rest of the Herschenfeld clan." http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/amcs-minshew-not-moving-just-yet |

Loved the second to last eppy! AMC suffered greatly with the retirement of David Canary and today made that so painfully clear. Canary can still bring it and the Stuart/Adam scenes made me cry. I wish there was more dialogue though, but I guess there were no words needed because his facial expressions as both Stuart and Adam said it all. I had been pretty disappointed with the "ending" up until now but today was great. It was nice to see all the Martins together yesterday as well. |

Ok so as I said in the shoutbox I didnt like the finale at all but I thought I'd get a little more in detail here. There were a few moments that I liked, Tads speech and the kids doing their poem were both good moments. Loved Stuart getting to reunite with Marian. The rest was just blah. I know Erica is the "star" of the show but wasting half the finale on her and Jacks latest bickerfest was stupid. I understand they were so up in the air about the shows future that it was probably pretty difficult to try and write a satisfying ending and also a new beginning but they could have done better imo. I was also expecting more from the actual cliffhanger, 1 shot? I wanted lots of shots and a true cliffhanger. Besides David was there so we know whoever got shot will come back to life anyway lol. I suppose the one shot will either be Angie, Erica or JR since we already know those 3 wont be continuing with the show (unless Lucci changes her mind). Overall yeah I was very disappointed! |

Just a little post-finale housekeeping, exit interviews and more on AMCs online home... Michael E Knight says goodbye to his Soap Star Life (long but worth the read) http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/09/20/all-my-children-michael-e-knight-on-the-show-s-end.html?fb_ref=article&fb_source=home_multiline Eva La Rue Talks About Reprising AMC Role For ABC Finale http://popconfidential.zap2it.com/2011/09/22/dc-exclusive-eva-la-rue-talks-reprising-all-my-children-role-opposite-pal-sarah-michelle- Susan Lucci comments on the final episode Was this truly the end of Erica Kane today on the finale of All My Children? Well if it was, or wasn’t, soap icon, Susan Lucci took to Facebook this afternoon to post her thoughts after watching the final network television episode! Susan stated: “I just finished watching the last episode of All My Children – a very emotional time for me. I am so grateful to The View and ABC for their beautiful tribute show for All My Children and Agnes Nixon. And to Agnes and to ABC for the incredible opportunity to play the amazing Erica Kane. At the center of all my gratitude is you, the fans. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always being there for us, for spending all those days with us in Pine Valley and for bringing so much sunshine into my life. Let’s hope we all get to see more of Pine Valley and the beloved characters Agnes Nixon has created. Today’s episode ended with quite a cliff hanger – and I really want to see what happens next!” http://michaelfairmansoaps.com/news/susan-lucci-comments-after-watching-the-last-episode-of-amc/2011/09/23/ Soaptown Loose Lips An end of an era....<SOB> All I can say was this last week was the show I remember back in the day. What a great freakin week!!!! Any ideas who JR shot?...As far as AMC 2.0 goes we know Mathison and Hartley have signed on. PP is looking to who of the current casts wants to continue and then which current roles they plan to recast. Once they have those they can get the ball rolling. Alicia Minshew mentioned she would come back as long as PP works with her schedule and it appears they want to accommodate her. No word on Lucci, Canary or any one else as of yet, many actors are attempting to work with PP but we just have to wait and see. http://www.soaptownusa.com/Loose.html Online Hub for All My Children and One Life to Live Gets Name, Launch Date The Prospect Park media company on Tuesday announced a name and tentative launch date for the online network that will host new epsiodes of ABC’s axed All My Children and One Life to Live. The Online Network (aka TOLN), as it will be called, is expected to launch in January 2012 — just as OLTL airs its final ABC episode — “with the goal of eventually providing viewers with a full programming selection of first-run, long form content on an anytime, anywhere basis,” says the press release. The URL is TheOnlineNetwork.com/TOLN.com. “We are creating TOLN to conveniently deliver fans of quality television long-form programming anytime and anywhere,” said Prospect Park founders Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz in a statement. “With broadband availability in 70% of US households and the proliferation of internet enabled televisions, DVRs and wireless devices, ultimately we believe that online distribution provides the best platform to access 30 and 60 minute entertainment content. The viewer response to the shows we have licensed has been tremendous, and we have much more in development to appeal to a broad audience base.” While Prospect Park has yet to officially comment on the possibility of this being a subscription-based service, sources tell TVLine that at launch time TOLN will be strictly ad-supported, like most online video hubs. One Life thus far has signed five stars — gazillion-time Emmy winner Erika Slezak (Viki), Kassie DePaiva (Blair), Michael Easton (John), Ted King (Tomas) and Sean Ringgold (Shaun) — plus executive producer Frank Valentini to be a part of the online venture, while AMC to date has inked deals with just Cameron Mathison (Ryan) and Lindsey Hartley (Cara), and not (yet) Susan Lucci (Erica). http://www.tvline.com/2011/09/all-my-children-one-life-live-online-network/ |
