New season, new thread for us to discuss Top Chef. They are back in NYC with the alumni contestants and Anthony Bourdain taking a slot on the judge's panel. In pre-show articles, some who saw the screener of the first show talked about being disappointed by the first one off Elia, but really it wasn't that bad. Supposedly she took the instructions too literally, which is why she didn't improve her dish or at least that is her story about why she was eliminated. |

Why were people disappointed that Elia was the first? With all of them being good chefs, I'd think any of them could go at any time. There are so many of them that I like that I don't even know who to root for. I didn't mind Elia being the first to go. I haven't seen enough of season 2 to care much about her. |

I am not sure, except one reviewer said it was hard as they realized every week someone good would go home. |

I know who Bilki likes......he loves Spike! :P Here's the cast: Season 1 - San Francisco: Tiffani and Stephen Season 2 - Los Angeles: Elia and Marcel Season 3 - Miami: Tre, Dale V. and Casey Season 4 - Chicago: Richard Blais, Spike, Antonia, Angry Dale Season 5 - New York: Jamie, Fabio and Carla Season 6 - Las Vegas: Jen and Mike Isabella Season 7 - Washington D.C.: Tiffany and Angelo So many greats. At this point, I'm leaning to the ones I like personally--Fabio, Carla, Jamie, and yes, I've always had a soft spot for Angelo for some reason. He just seems so passionate and I'm glad he's getting a second chance since his illness was such a factor in his finale. My hubby doesn't even bitch about watching this show......I love it! |

That's cool that the hubby doesn't mind watching this show. I do find it odd how so many TC: Chicago people are in attendance. |

Well the crickets sure are chirping in this thread! This season hasn't been as great as I had imagined. Maybe there were too many I liked to make it interesting, if that makes any sense. Angelo's early exit was a bit of a surprise but would have been a shock if they hadn't previewed it as a "shocking elimination." I expected him to make it to the end. As much as I like Tiffany, I wonder if maybe she should have been eliminated before now. Richard seems like he thinks he should win the grand prize because it's a waste of his time, otherwise. That annoys me. I may be somewhat disappointed if he wins the $200,000. I was pleased they took all 5 to the finals, because it seemed like the judges enjoyed all their dishes. How odd would it have been if one of the chefs had made a disaster dish and the judges had to critique it there in front of a family member. |

I am relieved that everyone made good meals, so there was no need to say negative stuff about the food. Found it insane that somehow Mike Isabella and Antonia have a distant relation. I've been enjoying the season, but haven't been compelled to write about it. |

I am behind on this season. I enjoy it, perhaps more than some others simply because they've weeded out some of the chaff, so to speak. Many but obviously not all of my favorites are back (or were). But it is more like a reunion of favorite people to me than a getting to know a new set of contestants and so there is less....intensity, but more enjoyment. That said, it's not must see TV but then, nothing is, really. I enjoy Big Bang Theory a lot--it's really funny and smart, and I'm watching Harry's Law for Kathy Bates and some side characters. OH: Mike and Molly is pretty good although Swoozie Kurtz is really wasted and I could do with fewer drug references.... Oops: this is the Top Chef thread. Sorry for hijacking/venting... |

I'm missing MY Fabio. Boo-freakin' hoo! :( Oddly enough, I actually liked Dale this season and was bummed to see him go last week. I like Richard but he is a little too full of himself at times. And very negative about other people when they excel. Too funny about the new cousins Mike and Antonio! My hubby said that if all five didn't go through to the final, he wouldn't watch the show with me anymore. As if he has a choice! But luckily they made it. I'm rooting for Carla! |

I think that Fabio is my favorite all time tv personality. I really enjoy seeing him on the show. I peaked, so i knew he didn't make it to the top 5 which makes me sad. I am rooting for Carla, too. In her season, at first, I found her annoying and maybe a little too out there. Now, I really like her and appreciate her. Also liked Casey, always. |

So we are down to the end. Its been a good season overall but I somehow feel like it was missing something. Not sure who I want to win, Mike is a jerk but Richard has turned me off quite a bit this season with his attitude too. |

I'm mostly annoyed that they went down to a final 2. Antonia was the only one I had left to root for. I don't care for Mike (didn't watch his season, so he's like a new chef for me), and Richard has been more of a jerk this season than I think he was his first season. After all of Richard's comments about how this season would be a waste if he doesn't win, the only thing left to root for would be for him to lose. But I don't really want to see Mike win. Sigh. Now I really wish Angelo hadn't put too much salt in that soup he made! |

I'm with you guys on the final two.......definitely not my faves. Although they've both had little moments (rare but there!) where they were quite likable. I loved Richard and Fabio's bromance--so cute! Richard has the edge over Mike for sure unless he chokes like he did in the last finale. It should be a fun competition to watch as the two of them have been big rivals all season. Tgir--Fabio needs to have his own show, doesn't he?!? He is just fabulous. Besides being cute, he's funny, smart and just makes you smile. I would watch any show of his in a heartbeat. He has a smile that melts and a personality that's out of this world awesome. :wub1: |

If you luv Fabio you need to read his blog. It is written like he talks, http://fabioviviani.com/blog/ he does episode summaries and talks about his real life work. I prefer Richard to Isabella, but was rooting for Carla and Antonia over them. Forgot to mention I hearted the quickfire challenge with Cookie Monster, Telly and Elmo. That was so much fun. |

Thanks so much for sharing Fabio's blog. I haven't laughed so much in ages! So true how his blogs are just like his speech and cute accent. So frickin' funny how many times he peppered in "Richard is worry." in his blog of the last show. It must have been each time they showed Richard with that frowny expression on his face. LOLOL!!! This is a definite keeper on my Favorites. :wub1: |
