Loved it. Every shot was super-awesome. Very excited about this show. Much love to Frank Darabont and AMC for bringing it to us. I blind-bought five hardcovers containing the first sixty issues of the comic book awhile back, but haven't read them yet... will probably start on them after this short season of only six finishes airing... Main Cast - Andrew Lincoln -- Rick Grimes Jon Bernthal -- Shane Walsh Sarah Wayne Callies -- Lori Grimes Laurie Holden -- Andrea Jeffrey DeMunn -- Dale Steven Yeun -- Glenn Chandler Riggs -- Carl Grimes I know Callies from Prison Break, and Holden from The X-Files and The Shield, but I think the guys are all new to me... well, DeMunn has been around forever, and is in all of Darabont's movies (Holden is also in The Mist - I haven't seen that one yet, actually...). This fan-made opening credits sequence is fantastic -- http://vimeo.com/15266890 |

I love all the extras they had to hire to play in Atlanta, that must have been a riot! |

Only six episodes this season? Damn, that's short! I enjoyed it. There were some early scenes that were so similar to 28 Days Later that they felt unnecessary to me, but I suppose it was all a part of the set up of the lead character. While he was nice to look at, I was more intrigued by the father and son whose wife/mother was a zombie. I started getting into it when they showed up. I thought the scene in which he was trying to shoot his zombie wife, who looked so unthreatening, was the most powerful scene of the episode. Edited by bilki, Nov 1 2010, 04:45 PM.

OMGosh, that was heartbreaking! I wonder if we've seen the last of them or if they will come back on a later show. Hubby was yelling at the t.v. to "Shoot her! Shoot her!" LOL. I absolutely LOVED this show. Seriously, that hour and a half ZOOMED by. Holy shit, at the end when those zombies got his horse.....that freaked me out!!! So, do you think his partner and his wife got together AFTER this all happened or were they having an affair? Interesting! My co-worker's hubby called me up at work today to thank me for turning him on to this show and to rave about it. Hubby loved it, too. Wish there were more than six eppies though.....bummer. |

Htfix.com is reporting the episode got over 5 million viewers, which is a first for an AMC series. So it seems likely we'll get another season, though who knows when that could be. In the comments at Alan Sepinwall's review of the episode, they're saying the next episode has more gore than the first. I was also wondering about Rick's wife being involved with his co-worker before he got shot. From what he was telling him (the difference between men and women conversation) while they were in the police car, their marriage was a bit rocky. |

A second season is a certainty. Remember a couple months ago, when it went around that it had already been renewed?... then somebody at AMC said 'no'... well, it's just the formality of an announcement, which we can probably expect any morning now... I mean, they even kinda tipped it in promos last night. They've got a contest with a winner getting a 'stumble-on' zombie extra role... well, if these six shows are all shot and in a can, then... This is going to have a nice, long run. I'm excited. |

It's on Friday in primetime, and late Friday and Saturday nights... yes, you must not miss it. >> I am SO behind in my TV viewing. Me, too. Ten stacked of Rubicon, eleven of Weeds, six of Dexter, six of Boardwalk Empire (these will all be fun marathoning, though, for sure), six of Life Unexpected, five of Nikita, and will-be-four-after-Thursday of Fringe... |

I liked it a lot too. The father actor of the father/son duo used to be on Jericho which I liked and was cancelled. I think we will see them again. Re the marriage, I think it was rocky so when the shit hit the fan, groundwork was laid for the affair. |

I saw the first Boardwalk with hubby and loved it. He wants to watch it with me...so I'm counting on On-Demand marathon over Christmas with him....BUT, someone just told be they only keep up the most recent three or four episodes, not the entire season. Anyone know HBO's policies? I totally missed Weeds too. Rubicon....meh....if you gotta dump something Dax, I recommend that. I was seriously disappointed in the finale. |

My cable's On Demand is showing all eps of Boardwalk Empire available now (and through 1/3). I think all current-running series keep full seasons up, it's just the ex-shows (Sopranos, Oz, Sex and the City, etc.) that do runs of 4 to 6 at any given time... |

I liked the second episode. I've seen two critics cite it as their least-favorite of the three they've seen (Sepinwall called it a fine-but-not-special middle part of a zombie movie). I was satisfied with it (though the pilot WAS better, sure...). -- AMC RESURRECTS "THE WALKING DEAD" FOR A SECOND SEASON Biggest Series in Cable History Among Adults 18-49 Network Greenlights 13-Episode Season of Original Hit Series Biggest Global Original Series Debut on Fox International Channels (New York, NY - November 8, 2010) AMC announced today the renewal of "The Walking Dead" for a 13-episode second season. Since debuting Sunday, October 31, "The Walking Dead" has broken ratings records, with the series reaching more Adults 18-49 than any other show in the history of cable television. Today's announcement also includes Fox International Channels' (FIC) global renewal for a second season, following record-breaking premiere ratings in 120 countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. "The Walking Dead" was the highest-rated original series premiere ever to air on FIC simultaneously worldwide. "The 'Dead' has spread!" said Charlie Collier, President, AMC. "No other cable series has ever attracted as many Adults 18-49 as 'The Walking Dead.' This reaffirms viewers' hunger for premium television on basic cable. We are so proud to be bringing back 'The Dead' again, across the globe." Ratings Highlights for The Walking Dead - Episode 2, which premiered on AMC Sunday, 11/7: 10pm airing - 3.1 HH rating with over 4.7 million viewers; Adults 18-49 - 3.3 million viewers; Adults 25-54 - 2.8 million viewers; Men 18-49 - 2.1 million viewers. Ratings Highlights for the The Walking Dead - Episode 1, which premiered on AMC Sunday, 10/31: 10pm airing - 3.7 HH rating with over 5.3 million total viewers; Adults 18-49 - 3.6 million viewers; Adults 25-54 - 3.1 million viewers; Men 18-49 - 2.0 million viewers; "I wish all programming decisions were no brainers like this one," said Sharon Tal Yguado, SVP Scripted Programming. "'The Walking Dead' is a TV masterpiece on so many levels. We want at least 10 seasons, if not more. Kudos to AMC!" AMC's "The Walking Dead" is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. Kirkman serves as an executive producer on the project and three-time Academy Award-nominee Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) serves as writer, director and executive producer. Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, Aliens, Armageddon, The Incredible Hulk), chairman of Valhalla Motion Pictures, serves as Executive Producer. David Alpert from Circle of Confusion and Charles "Chic" Eglee (Dexter, The Shield, Dark Angel) serve as Executive Producers. "The Walking Dead" tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The comic goes on to explore the challenges of life in a world overrun by zombies who take a toll on the survivors, and sometimes the interpersonal conflicts present a greater danger to their continuing survival than the zombies that roam the country. Over time, the characters are changed by the constant exposure to death and some grow willing to do anything to survive. Shot on location in Atlanta, "The Walking Dead" is led by a cast that includes Lincoln ("Teachers," Love Actually) as Rick Grimes, Jon Bernthal ("The Pacific," The Ghost Writer) as Shane Walsh, Sarah Wayne Callies ("Prison Break") as Lori Grimes, Laurie Holden ("The Shield," Stephen King's The Mist) as Andrea, Jeffrey DeMunn (Stephen King's The Mist, The Green Mile) as Dale, Steven Yeun ("The Big Bang Theory") as Glen, Emma Bell (The Bedford Diaries) as Amy and Chandler Riggs (Get Low) as Carl Grimes. |

OMG. Best news EVER! As if we ever doubted it would get renewed. Ha! So now I wonder when the new season will start. I'm already bummed that there's only four more shows. I thought the second eppy was great. Holy cow, what a gruesome scene with him hacking up the dead zombie to smear all over themselves. ICK!!! But what a fabulous scene with the two of them staggering through the city trying to blend in with the rest of the zombies--the feet around the neck was hysterical! It was soooo creepy when the zombies would stare at them and give them "the look". It's official. This is my favorite new series of the fall season. |

Though it was much more plot-driven than the first, I enjoyed the second episode. I didn't need that scene of the chopping up of the zombie (and I kept thinking they'd ALL be splattered with zombie blood) but the scene of them walking with the zombies was intense. The new characters were interesting, and I LOVED that the asshole got left there on top of the building, even though it wasn't necessarily intentional. |

Gate--get him to watch that four minute preview trailer. I'm not into zombies or zombie movies AT ALL but that trailer is what did it for me. It did its job and reeled me in. It might do the same for him. Krystal is right, because this show actually has a decent plot, it raises it above the norm. I'm trying to convince my co-worker who says the same thing, she hates "zombie" movies. But her hubby is nuts over the show. I'm thinking of showing her the trailer as a last resort. :P |

Okay, On-Demand only has the first episode so far. (How many total? 6?) It was very well done, but my impression of most graphic-novel-to-screen is that the focus is on visual and not story, especially not character driven story, and I thought the episode played a pretty standard action focus. I like supernatural/horror for its ability to explore moral/ethical issues that can't as easily (or as cleverly) be done with traditional drama. So this seemed rather ho-hum, and the gore a higher level than I like. Killing the horse...almost turned off right there and stopped watching. If it's just mostly about cool ways to kill, I won't be sticking around. I like James from Jericho as Morgan Jones.... |

Can't say that I liked the last episode all that much. I didn't care for the opening being all about the asshole guy crying on top of the building. Would love for the zombies to eat him! And I didn't care enough about the the cop reuniting with his wife and son for that to hold my attention. Hopefully, next week will be better. |

I do get annoyed at these assholes too. Why not leave the door open and let him go to the zombies? Also, yeah, tell his equally asshole brother he is there and risk your life to go back for him (so he can cause trouble later). Then there was the asshole at the camp. If I were one of the women and the other asshole was beating,me (or another woman) he would be dead the first night he slept. I'd take my chances with the zombies rather than daily abuse from him. |

That's right, I forgot about the guy who was beating on the women. Feed him to the zombies, too! What's up with all these characters who have no rooting value? Too many in one episode, if you ask me. I prefer villians to have some shades of grey. Unless they want us to want the zombies to eat some of these guys. |

We watched the latest epi last night. Hubby was a bit disappointed and thought it was a little too "soapy" because of the lack of dead people lol. I thought it dragged a bit too. You guys are right...too many hateful people in this little circle...it's funny when u want most of them to be eaten lmao. From the previews it looks like there are even more since they run into what looked like a "street gang". One thing we were wondering was why didn't the idiot on the roof saw through the chain instead of his wrist bone??? I was really irritated that the cop was going to go back to get roof guy until he explained about the walkie talkie and the man and kid that helped him. That made more sense to me. I was skeeved out when the cop and wife started banging...first the kid is right there and second...did she take a bath somewhere after her last romp? And how about that cop partner...telling the woman he was already dead...at least I could understand a little better about her doing the partner. Does anyone know how much time had passed while the cop was in the hospital? We were trying to figure it out last night. |

I can understand her banging the other guy as he did tell her that her hsb had died plus I think earlier on they were saying there were marital problems. Some kids sleep like the dead. My step son could sleep thought WW2, a pin will wake my niece up. Guess it depends. I hate the creepy guys too. |

Bone can be cut through easier than steel. As stupid as Merle is, I'm sure he did at least TRY the chain first... We're not given a precise timeline... Morgan (the black father) said something about being without hot water for about a month, but I think that's all we got... |

A month sounds like a reasonable amount of time to have passed. A friend of mine was saying that the cop couldn't have been in the hospital for too long without food or water, or anyone to change his IV bag. I couldn't think of a way to disagree with that, though it seems the catastrophic state of the country would have taken longer than a month to get to. The zombie virus must have spread like wildfire. |
