I've watched all 3 shows and I don't see the link. I guess they are saying it's like Lost because of the time changes/flashback/forward/etc. and 24 because it's happening in 'real' time. Nah ... I don't see either.

I'm still liking the show...I like the pace of it and I noticed last week or was it this week's...anyway I noticed that they only did a couple of time flashes and there was a good reason for it. I can live with the flashbacks when they explain something that happened years ago. I'm not talking about the original crash in the 40's but the one that explains how the ET female ended up with a son. Glad it's not one of the canceled ones.

I am glad they picked up The Event. Really like the show. I am also glad about Outsourced. I was worried that it would be canceled, as I don't hear too much about it. I love the show and the characters, a must see for me!! Don't care about Law & order LA, as I am still angry over the loss of Law & order. So, I guess you could say I am boycotting the show. LOL

I'm really enjoying this too. A nice change from all the shows with deliberately convoluted plots. I no sooner think, "Hey, he's gonna jumpstart the atomic age by joining the Manhattan Project," then boom, the next scene he's joining the Manhattan Project.

Too much predictability could get boring, but so far, a nice blend of pace, character, plot, and excitement.

Gate, here is one that we didn't curse! I don't know how but I am really glad the Event is coming back. I think it is the best by far. I don't watch Outsourced, or any comedy for that matter, but want to give LOLA more of a chance. I am sad that the NY show is gone though.

I am still liking this one a lot. I think it is funny that 2 characters from here are also on SOA. I was gone last week and catching up.

Which actors are in both? (I'm not watching The Event)

Edit: Ah, Paula Malcomson and Hal Holbrook. Cool.

Still finding it awesome to see four from Deadwood on SOA this season...

I'm enjoying this show a lot but am 1 or 2 behind.

Krystal, I'm not sure how this show wasn't canceled with both of us liking it but I'm not complaining. ;)

I'm still watching too. But I just saw an article that says the ratings are "depressingly low". Though it seems like they aren't in a hurry to drop it.
http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2010/11/14/the-event-scoop-drama-to-relaunch-in-january/

Ratings for NBC’s high-concept drama The Event may be depressingly low, but the network (and the show’s cast) isn’t giving up. Members of the show’s ensemble told a crowd gathered at the Screen Actors Guild headquarters in Los Angeles Saturday that NBC will relaunch the show in January in an effort to attract more viewers.

“We will finish up with our first 13 and then there be a break, and then we’ll come back with a one-hour compilation clip show of the first 13 so everybody can catch up with story,” says Bill Smitrovich, who plays Vice President Raymond Jarvis. “I hope that will spark another increase in the audience.”

Since the drama’s premiere, the show has continued to trend downward in viewers and adults 18-49. The show’s most recent telecast attracted 5.4 million people and earned a 1.7 rating/4 share (each rating point represents 1.3 million people). The drama earned a full-season pickup by NBC.

“Ratings are one of the variables that we don’t have control over,” said Blair Underwood (President Elias Martinez), who also participated in the Event panel with fellow cast members like Jason Ritter (Sean), Sarah Roemer (Leila) and Ian Anthony Dale (Simon). “There is the crossfire competition from Dancing With the Stars, football, and the No. 1 comedy Two and A Half Men. Then, this is the type of genre show like 24 and Lost where viewership always picks up in the second season because people go back and watch during the summer or get the DVD. That builds an audience. And this show was sold in 200 international markets before it premiered here so there is incentive to keep the show going. We are in a good place.”

In the event The Event has to say goodbye in May, the producers have prepared short cuts to wrap up the storyline, explained Ritter. But no one thinks it will come to that. “We probably would have seen them start to come to a close. They would need the time to start doing those short cuts. But so far, so good. Ratings have not been the most ideal, but a lot of people are watching the show on their DVRs.”

Until then, exactly who are Simon, Sophia (Laura Innes) and Thomas (Clifton Collins Jr.) and where the heck did they come from? A few castmembers like Dale know the answer, but most of the others and Collins have been left in the dark. Instead, Collins has been doing some research and thinks scientific engineering may be at play here . “I’ve been doing a lot of research. I’m too intrigued,” he told the crowd. “So much of this is based on real stuff, which is why I go out there and study these things, whether it’s cloning or chromosome structures and gnomes and stuff of that nature. It’s really fascinating. I can almost see where its going. When [the producers] leak out certain things, they think I don’t know what it is but I do, because I’ve been studying.”

While Ritter thinks that Sophia and her kind may be time travelers from the future, other cast members have more (out there) theories. “I think Jason is like the second coming for the aliens,” sayd Lisa Vidal, who plays the President’s wife Christina. “He’s the second coming to this alien nation, this super human nation and there is something at stake. That’s why he is on the run. He’s like the alien Jesus.”

“That just feels right,” quipped Ritter.

I am loving the show, so that makes the prognosis grim for it. Glad to hear they are not pulling the plug soon. Wondered what the Hal Holbrook character saw in the mirror. Was he imagining himself younger or is he an alternative alien?

I am thinking the VP may not have been killed, we'll see. I still could care less about Ritter-kid and his girlfriend.

OK, so now how long do we have to wait to see the rest? Some of the SL makes no sense but may in the future. So the kids they are taking are daughters of the aliens. But it is the Hal Holbrook group taking them, right? OK, so Mom Alien wants for everyone to go back to their world, sonny and girlfriend do not but they are contacting the others via satellite? If they have the technology to go back to their world, are we to believe that they can't contact it but need this satellite?

Also we had this top secret program in the basement of the old hospital. There was no security every ten feet so Ritter-doofus can get right in? No computer records, old paper ones?

I am trying to suspend belief on some of this but they are straining me!
Plus I still don't care about any of the human characters!

WTH??? 2/28....wonder why it's so long. They had me guessing at the end with the missile. When it was clear it wasn't pointed at the US, I thought they were going to blow up their own planet....then it turns out to be a satillite?...to communicate? Not understanding that...but still has me interested.

Thought it was good karma between the vp and the prez....u tell my dirty little secrets and I'll tell yours. lol

The kids....once I saw their "old" faces I had told my husband that Hal Holbrook must be trying to find a way to de-age...figuring they were injecting serum/blood from one of the "aliens" that they may have captured. Then it sorta just threw off my whole train of thought when it revealed they were 1/2 and 1/2. I have also been wondering what Hal keeps taking from that dropper...cuz ya know it ain't sugar.
Well I guess instead of complaining that it's taking so long to come back I should just be grateful that it didn't get the axe. :)

I thought the same thing about the kids. I also am glad to see the show return. It is way better than the Walking Dead, which is OK, but does not get the ratings.

OK, so not a bad restart, plenty of action though somewhat predictable. Still don't care about Ritter-kid and his girlfriend. And I still am not sure what the Holbrook character is doing.

I enjoyed it. Love seeing Madsen. I agree The *sweethearts in peril* plot is tired. They need to kill off Leila pronto and get Scott Patterson more involved. Some better character writing would be nice too.

The only ones I care about are Ritter and his girl and her sister. Simon and Sofia are OK too. The rest, not so much.

Watched the last 2 in a row. Getting better I think although I still don't understand why aliens with a portal device were stuck in Alaska for 64 years. And who/what is the Holbrook character? I think the Aliens need to kick the human's asses.

Krystal, it took them 60+ years to build the portal. That's what Thomas and the "sleepers" were doing. What made it tougher was that Earth tech wasn't developed enough yet so some of them had to "jump start" our science. They alluded to that a few times.

The Holbrook character is really annoying so far. Too bad as I like HH. His plot reminds me of The 5th Element, but not nearly as fun. I'm also increasingly annoyed with the president and agree the aliens should kick butt.

Wonder if Thomas is dead dead.

Anyone still watching? I cannot stand the Ritter kid more and more. He is some doofus but he is on a train in France then in Russia 2 minutes later. Guess he can time travel like GL when they were in SF one minute then SC the next. Can't stand his dimwit girl either.

Kind of like the politics and aliens and all, but can't believe an advanced civilization would have to give humans the flu to kill them.

I am only watching as right now I can't stand most of the shows.

I'm still watching but I can't stand the Ritter kid at all. Terrible in the part. He should have stuck with comedy like dear ol' dad. I too like the politics. I'm just sorry that the Ritter kid is now the 'Save the World' kid. Ugh!

Yeah he and Leila are def. the weak points in this. I was so hoping her dad (LUUUKE!) was gonna turn her in to Sophia.

The political ramifications are also what keeps me interested, especially the dude who is security. (always forget his name)

I do wish they'd spend a little more time explaining why the aliens need our home world. With thieir tech, and the 66 years gone by, you'd think they'd be better prepared for situations...

OK so I hung in there and watched the end, mainly cause there is nothing to watch. The finale was OK. got tired of watching Ritter run around like some action hero, he was soooo miscast. Finale not so bad (other than him), sort of wish there'd be a next season to see what the invasion is all about. But then, maybe not.

Krystal, I think you are being generous. I thought the finale sucked. I do agree Ritter kid was totally miscast and I have a feeling that he helped the demise of the show. There was too much 'save the world' crap going on in the finale for me to care.

I did love the last line by the Presidents Wife 'Home'. LOL ... I knew she was an alien! :P

Gate, yes i am starved for sci fi so I guess I am more forgiving than I would be under other circumstances. I think Ritter helped put the final nail in as well. Man he sucked. I really didn't like Underwood much as president either.

I liked the "home" line as well. So Mom is indeed an alien.

The finale was bad on a lot of levels. I'm pretty forgiving of sci fi but this was just claptrap.

So. The event was/will be the aliens' metamorphosis into a newly evolved race, and somehow, without even meaning to, that event will mean our extinction. So giving us all a gruesomely painful pandemic is somehow merciful?

Worse than cheesy. Stupid cheesy.
