I long for the days when stories could be told in regular time...... I will watch this for a few weeks anyhow, rather confusing. Don't like the lead Ritter whatever, he'd never be anywhere if his parents were not famous. Don't like Underwood much as president either, couldn't they find a real Hispanic guy to play the role? So I guess they snatched both the kids of the pilot, would you kill yourself, all of the people on a plane plus the President cause they snatched your kids? Don't think I would. Chances are they'd never give them back anyhow.... |

krystal I'm going to give it a couple of episodes too. From what I'm hearing this show will answer questions and not leave you hanging (like with the airplane-it's supposed to be answered next week where it went). I agree with you 100%- I really dislike the back and forth with the time periods and actually I can't understand why that was even necessary during this epi. Or at least why so many jumps back and forth. So I wish they'd stop that. I don't mind the Ritter kid...saw him in another show too...I think he was in or ended up in a wheelchair in that show- keep thinking it was Joan of Ark with Amber Tamblyn (sp) but probably wrong. It was interesting enough though to give it a try for a bit which is better than some of the new shows. |

He was on Joan of Arcadia, you're right. Last year, he was on Parenthood with Lauren Graham. DOn't know who his parents are, but his teeth annoys the hell out of me. I didn't liek the pilot much, not into characters at all and someone pls explain me why if Blair Underwood plays the president he's "hispanic". Has someone forgotten to change the name? |

omg....i said Joan of Ark lol... i think but i'm not positive that his father was John Ritter. Here is a part of an interview Blair Underwood gave : Question:Blair my question is for you. Can you talk about how you decided to play the president? He seems like a furious person and I'm just wondering, did you draw on anyone who has been president or other officials? Blair Underwood: That's interesting. No one in particular. I don't - it's funny I don't see him as furious. This is a man, President Elias Martinez, who was born of Cuban refugees and he's Afro-Cuban in our story. But he is someone who is a good man. He's a good man morally, ethically and he's a man of faith and wants to do the right thing. I think he feels though he's put upon and he's newly elected and he realizes once he's in office that there are secrets that have not been told to him that he feels are very important. So I think there's a certain sense of self-righteous indignation but not fury or anger for the sake of being angry. http://www.movieweb.com/news/NEKXavr9jYFVOO |

I will give it a few more weeks too. I want to like it, but there was entirely too much back and forth and replaying of stuff I thought. i like Laura Innes too. So now how is Underwood 'Afro Cuban" , it's like Smits was busy so we have not Hispanic actors? |

Yeah he's John Ritter's son. I kinda like him. I forgot to tape The Event, so maybe I'll try to catch it on-demand or repeat? |

KMI- They are showing it again on Sat night at 8pm :) Krystal - I don't see any Cuban in Blair Underwood- when I look at him as the character I see a black president. But if you would see my granddaughter with Blond hair and blue eyes and the features of her face, no one would know that her mom is mexican and none of the italian from my side show either. Seems to me they could have just changed the characters name once they hired Underwood as I don't think it has much bearing on the story...yet. Edited by lexilani, Sep 24 2010, 10:43 AM.

The wife looks Hispanic, so he could have been a black guy married to a Hispanic woman. I know people can look any which way. My friend is part afro-american and his wife is Italian and somehow they ended up with a blond blue eyed child. |

Wow, I really liked the second epi, a lot of action. Still don't care for the Ritter kid as the lead, but the rest of the cast is good and I like the story. I'd prefer not as much jumping back and forth but still it seems way more coherent than Lost (so far anyhow). |

I like the first episode. Haven't watched the second yet. I'm astonished at how many new shows I've watched already this fall and how many actors have been recycled from failing shows. |

Yep---I'm with ya's. I liked the second episode too....still think though they could stop the time switches. I wasn't expecting an ET effect lol. I thought it was about some strange "defense" thing our government was messing with so I was happy to see I was wrong about that. |

I totally guessed the ET plot. This seems to be well plotted and all my students are gossiping about it, so maybe the Gate curse will be too weak for this one...:P So, who tried to kill the pres? Not the ETs, right? |

Probably the Republicans :). The ET's did not want anyone killed, that is why they relocated the plane. Then someone else came and killed all of the passengers except for the lame brain lead guy. That is my take anyhow. I have hopes for this show. |

It's early in the season yet to be thinking the Gatekeeper curse is too weak. I'm really enjoying this show and my husband said it was doomed because of me. :P
Oh .... now that is funny!!!! :lmfao: :lmfao: :lmfao: |

Yes Gate, I am doubly pessimistic since we both like it and I have a terrible record of liking shows that get cancelled. I had got into Flash Forward, poof, off it went, Invasion, ditto, Jeriho, ditto and worst of all Deadwood which I still lament. I am sure there were many others but memory fails. |

I still have moments of wishing we got another season of Invasion. It was starting to get so good. Funny that the Elisabeth Moss character was the one who got me hooked on the show. I just watched what must have been the second episode of The Event on BRAVO. I'm intrigued, though I swore I'd not get invested in another LOST-like show. I'd like to check out the next episode. Sucks that it's on Mondays. |

Bilki--I watched that same eppy (the second one) on Bravo. Oxygen is playing a marathon of the first four eppies on 10/15 during the day so I have them set to record. I couldn't believe how easily it was to get into the second one without seeing the first. |

I wouldn't have minded more Invasion - would have watched it - but I was okay with it being one-and-done, too, and Fichtner was then a welcome addition to Prison Break... |

The guy that had all of the plane passengers killed was the guy that Laura Linney said goodbye to in the flashback to 1944 or whenever it was so he is an "ET", probably just tired of all of their people being locked up. Remember Gloria (is that her name? I only think of her as Carrie from "ER") said that her people were getting tired of waiting. Whoever kidnapped Sean's girlfriend is the one responsible for the attack on the Pres. My thoughts are that it's the same guy. He staged that so that the president would have to acknowledge them. That's what I got from it. I think it's great how we interpret these things different ways :P |

bilki I've seen online where others are comparing it to Lost too. I just don't see anything that reminds me of Lost other than the darn time flashes. With this one they are telling u straight up what is happening...where Lost u kinda never really knew. Hubby watched the second epi last night...he said he likes the show but will probably not keep it on his DVR if they keep the time changes going. I'll keep it on mine a bit longer I'd like to see if "they" are from another planet or if they are a result of the government messing with DNA...you know, like they grew a few in the lab in a test tube and it got out of control. Oh...that sounds silly doesn't it lol. |

OK, I am in for sure. Lots of action, don't really know who the bad guys are, like Rubicon, some inter agency of the government I think. |

Liked this a lot. I knew...just knew...the plane passengers weren't dead. I like that my predictions are quickly resolved, that the pace is pretty brisk. A teeny tiny bit more character development and I'll be a happy camper. The scene with Liela and the bitch was great. |

I haven't seen it KMI...but I don't understand why they compare it to lost. It just is so far from Lost to me...unless they are going to focus on the passengers in the airplane the rest of the season and change the ET people to ghosts and demons and make the time jumps occur on a parallel (sp) world. Oh and they gotta stop letting us know any answers lol. |

I guess it's the fluid time changes.... I don't see it myself. Lost was very much full of subtext and layers... this seems more straightforward and action oriented. I don't watch 24 so maybe that's a better comparision? |
