DWTS Season 11 Recap

'Dancing With The Stars' kicked off it's 11th season premiere with some big stars and horrific dancing. Check out a recap of the dancers, find out their scores and tell us who you think will dominate the dance!
Nothing says Fall TV season is here quite like 'Dancing With The Stars'. From the dancing to their rehearsals and all the way up to their horrific outfits, this season is shaping up to be one of the best. Sure, their stars are not all exactly stars, but who cares?

Audrina Patridge & Tony Dovolani - Tony is probably so excited to have a partner that can actually dance this season. The poor guy got stuck with Kate 'the Kart' Gosselin last season and was miserable with her constant nagging, crying and whining much like Jon Gosselin.

Audrina and Tony performed a Cha Cha and seemed to have fun. As usual the song selection is just never quite right, but oh well. Her body looked amazing, the outfit looked like they stole it from a Brazilian carnaval and the she has potential. Score: 19 (7, 5, 7)

Kurt Warner & Anna Trebunskaya - This guy surprised us all with his great posture and fluidity. The performance itself was not memorable, but we have high hopes. Score: 19 (7, 5, 7)

Kyle Massey & Lacey Schwimmer - What a great performance!!! We have to say that we were a little unsure to see such a young contestant from Disney, but Kyle definitely brought his A-game. He was spunky and really worked hard to get the steps down.

Lacey's outfit was a bit too scary, for our taste, and her hair was everywhere. We are sure that no one was looking at her, when Kyle was dancing his heart out. Score: 23 (7, 8, 8)

Rick Fox & Cheryl Burke - This was the ladies' choice of the night. Rick Fox had all the charisma in the room and he worked the entire dance floor. Cheryl Burke seems to always get the tall, dark and handsome contestants.

Cheryl's outfit was okay, but Rick's was too professional for our taste. We are sure that ladies all over the country will be waiting to see him in one of those tight, open-chest numbers. You can count on it.Score: 22 (8, 7, 7)

Margaret Cho & Louis Van Amstel - Oh dear, Margaret took a huge risk by doing everything wrong for laughs. What did you expect? She's an over-the-top comedian! Her outfit was horrendous, but that gold cape was kind of cool. Louis needs to whip her into shape next time.

Margaret opened the number looking quite professional. She had poise and knew the steps, it wasn't until she started being funny that it all fell apart. Her mean face was hilarious, but they should have taken the first dance seriously. We love Margaret, but this is our pick for the first elimination. Score: 15 (5, 5, 5)

Brandy & Maks Chmerkovskiy - This performance was not memorable, unfortunately for the singer. She did quite well with her poise and dancing, but it just wasn't clicking. There was no passion and overall it just fell flat. Score: 23 (7, 8, 8)

Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas - Bristol Palin was not as bad as we thought she would be. We could have sworn she would wear a turtleneck and dress pants, but she went a little more risky with a red flapper dress.

For her performance, it was all about shaking what her mama gave her. We were scared that she'd be this season's 'kart', but she wasn't. She won't make it to the top, but she won't be eliminated in the first half.Score: 18 (6, 6, 6)

Florence Henderson & Corky Ballas - All we have to say is va va voom! Florence Henderson looks way better than some of the girls a third of her age on the show. She was funny, but not too pushy. The woman has skills and amazing legs! We loved Florence and think she can go a long way. Score: 18 (6, 6, 6)

Michael Bolton & Chelsie Hightower - Michael Bolton needs to loosen up. He has the following that can keep him in the show for the next couple of episodes, but he needs to work on his presence on the stage. Chelsie dominated the performance and he almost seemed like a shy wallflower. Score: 16 (6, 5, 5)

The Situation & Karina Smirnoff - This was truly the travesty of the night! The Situation only had five days to rehearse and it really showed in his performance. His cheesy, 80's moves were just not enough to cut it. We were surprised that he didn't rip off his shirt, show his abs and start fist pumping.

Karina's outfit was hideous and it matched Snooki's overly tanned skin color. We can tell that she really tried to get The Situation ready, but time just didn't allow it. With the fans he has, we know he won't be going home. Score: 15 (5, 5, 5)

Jennifer Grey & Derek Hough - This pair truly had an amazing performance last night, the best hands down. We are just a little upset that they would once again allow someone with a decent background in dance to participate. Of course Jennifer was going to do well, did you see her in 'Dirty Dancing'? Score: 24 (8, 8, 8)

David Hasselhoff & Kym Johnson - Wow, another terrible one for the night. David Hasselhoff tried to get by with his usual dorky looks and moves, but it didn't cut it on the dance floor. The song choice was awful and Kym was throwing herself around just to cover up for the poor performance. Sad, sad, sad. Score: 15 (5, 5, 5)

~~~
I recorded it and just finished watching it. I agree with the judges and think Jennifer Grey was the best. I thought the judges were VERY generous with Bristol Palin's scores. I probably won't be a regular watcher but will stop in from time to time.
After watching every season since the second, I decided not to dvr DWTS this time. The cast just didn't excite me and like Howard, I'm tired of these overinflated shows that run too long, on too many nights. That being said, when we finished watching House last night, my dvr just happened to be on ABC as The Situation was finishing his dance (nothing to write home to mother about) and they were showing the promos for Jennifer Grey and "The Hoff". So of course, we continued to watch.....lol! I was really curious to see how Jennifer would do.....and I thought she was wonderful, it was seriously like watching "Baby" dancing if you didn't look too closely at her nose. The poor Hoff is HAWW-RIBLE. His personality will keep him in for a while but his dancing leaves a lot to be desired. Like Gate, I will probably check it out from time to time, but it is no longer must see, t.v. for me!
This is the first I have watched and I watched specifically to see Jennifer Grey. She was great, and you had to love the emotion behind them making her dance to a song from "Dirty Dancing." I may watch from time to time but no biggie if I miss.
Like football I don't watch till the very end. I can't stand all the pathetic dancing and pathetic "famous" people who are famous for nothing (like Palin). Once they get culled out the show is not so bad. Last year I tuned in long after "Kate" was gone. I don't like to watch train wrecks.
I am kind of surprised no one had been posting. I started to watch then got turned off by Bristol baby, who has a name and no talent much like her mother. Now I hear she offed Brandy. What do you all think of this?
I wasn't happy about it as Brandy was a much better dancer. This whole situation has become a huge controversy. I read a gossip column where a statement was made by an insider who was not named saying that if Bristol wins that it will be harder to book the show in the future.
It's a travesty. It's pathetic. In the words of John Wayne, it's ri-goddam-diculous! :rant:
I started out NOT watching this season because I didn't want to get sucked into two more nights of t.v. when I already watch too much. But somehow, I still got sucked in a few weeks ago after watching Jennifer Grey pull off yet another fabulous dance. Damn, that woman is amazing for a 50 year old. She looks 20 years younger, what a bod. Brandy was a pleasant surprise. She turned out to be an even better dancer than Jennifer Grey, plus she just seems like a really nice person, to boot. I was actually so pissed about that schlump Bristol Palin still being in the competition that I went to the website and actually voted this week. I didn't vote for Jennifer OR Brandy because they were both so much obviously better than the other competitors, I didn't think they needed my vote. Instead I voted for Kyle, the cute chubby little black kid from Disney who is also a good dancer, just not as good as the other two ladies. So I guess that must be what a lot of people did because Kyle made it in, Bristol is still in thanks to those nutball Teabaggers, and Brandy, who IMO should have won the entire competition, goes home. I was in utter disbelief and shock that night.
Stupid show. Now I have NO desire to even watch the finale this week. There is literally no competition, the winner SHOULD be Jennifer Grey but it will probably be the lumpy, dumpy Shlump who can't dance. WTF??? Someone needs to tell those nutballs this is an entertainment show, not another election.
Really, if she wins it will be a travesty. She looks like Miss Piggy in a dancers outfit. At least if she could dance, but she can't.
I still record and FF while watching. Most of the show is filler crap. I wasn't sorry to see Brandy go...yeah she's not a bad dancer but I just didn't care for her....she did mellow more towards the end there. But the way she talked it was like she wanted to win this just about as much as an actor would want to win an Oscar.
I think it's terrible that Bristol is still there. I think she may be the only person who never lost any weight while doing this show. To me she is a wooden as that Kate woman (I think that's her name-the one with all the kids). Terrible dancer.
Jennifer is the best one, in my opinion anyway....but I do get tired of hearing about all her medical issues and her age. To be fair both she and Derek are also upset about the edits.
I think Kyle is just cute as can be! He one's of the few that I end up watching the whole dance. I hope it's him and Jennifer in the final. If Bristol is in the final I won't tape it...because if she makes it that far then she's going to win and I'm not going to waste my time watching that.
My biggest problem with this show, especially this year is it's Dancing with the Stars. They need to rename it to dancing with people you don't know or don't want to know. How in the hell is Bristol a star?? In any sense of the word? I liked Erin from last year...but she wasn't a star either. Maybe it could be Dancing with The People Who Have Been On TV (at least once).
Amen, Lexi, this year it should be Dancing With Trailer Trash if Bristol does win. So this is the daughter of a nobody who we can curse John McCain for letting loose on us. Worse yet, she is less than no body with no charisma, looks or talent.
I am totally grossed out.
Ditto.
So true about her not losing weight. They ALWAYS lose weight on this show, it's difficult not to when you are supposedly training for hours and hours a day. From the looks of her dances, she doesn't appear to train all that much so that must be it. Funny, I was talking to my co-worker about it the other day and I also mentioned the similarity between Bristol and Kate from Jon and Kate Plus 8. At least Bristol has a little better personality than Kate who was just plain wicked and mean. Both make me cringe whenever I watch them dance, they're so awful.
I didn't know that Jennifer and Derek were upset about the editing but I don't blame them. For a while, I thought the editing was making her look really bad and focusing too much on the negative with her injuries.
Love the idea of changing the name to Dancing with The People Who Have Been On TV. Haha! Although I must say that some of my faves from years past were people I'd never heard of before so you never know. I do always enjoy the athletes and Erin, the sportscaster chick was a pleasant surprise. Does anyone know if she and Maks are still a couple? Probably not but I thought they were so cute together last season.
Nicole and Derek were pretty great, last season. I was surprised by how much I loved them. It was the first time I had watched the show. The only reason I watched some of this season was because Derek and Jennifer were good from the start. Brandy grew on me, though I'm not a big fan of Maks. But week after week of that dreadful Bristol Palin, and others I wouldn't consider "stars"....well, it wasn't long before I lost interest. Totally sucks that she's still there.
Maks' bad attitude hurts him with ALL his partners, A lot if people are put off by him, myself included.
Mark, on the other hand, has a lot of fans who would like to see him win.
Brandy was also partly a victim of the Sabrina Bryan syndrome -- everyone thought she was safe so they didn't vote for her.
Any blogger who calls this a conspiracy is an idiot. Trust me, Republicans couldn't care less if Sarah Palin's daughter won a dance competition. Democrats, on the other hand, are trying to make it political. Ridiculous.
I don't think all Republicans are voting for Bristol and I doubt all of them care. Do I think some people are voting for Bristol due to who her mom is? Yes, but also others are voting for others for reasons that have nothing to do with dancing.
Some people vote based on personality or who the pro partner is. Some people hate Maks and wouldn't vote for Brandy for that reason, others don't want Mark or Derek to win again so they vote for another star (like Kyle). I do think people who were better dancers than Bristol went home before she did, but the same thing happened the year when Marie Osmond was a contestant.
I knew who Erin Andrews was before DWTS, as she was a female on ESPN. Since there are so few, I took notice.
Of course I don't think ALL Repubs are voting for Schlumpy.....just the nutjobs! And combine them with the Vote for the Worst nitwits, and there you go.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/tvblog/2010/11/dancing-with-the-stars-results-1.html
They have links to two conservative websites that discuss how you can "beat the system". Seriously, these people need to get a life. That's hysterical about the man who shot his television because of Schlumpy's godawful dancing. :P
Count me in as one who loves bad boy Maks and think he deserves to win. He was actually quite gracious when his partner was booted off the other night. I think I am finally done with this show. Although I've said the same thing about AI before. :blink:
I think Maks is great to look at. Sometimes though it seems he is a crybaby. But most times I can see his point. The judges aren't consistent in the things they say or the way they vote. I do wonder how much the judges points really count as far as people staying. Guess I wouldn't know for sure though unless they gave actual "voter" counts.
blosslover- I never ever watch anything sports related if I can help it. I wouldn't know one reporter from another lol
Cheryl I've also noticed that Lacy is getting to be quite hefty too. I'm really surprised at that because of the amount of dancing she does. Last year Maks made weight comments about her and Cheryl Burke. I thought that was really rude at the time and neither of the women looked heavy to me. Cheryl was just beautiful this year and I didn't see any extra weight on her at all.
I read online this morning that all the dancer "stars" that make it to the end will win 350,000. It didn't say if the end was the last show or the last few shows. It was mentioned that Melanie Griffin keeps asking to be on it and they keep turning her down. I wonder why they don't want her on the show. They also had a list of some people that the show keeps asking to come on and won't. Sylvester Stalone (sp) is one.
Griffith and Stone would lean it toward "Dancing with Has Beens" but still better than Schlumpy.
I can see that Krystal but they've had has beens on the show already. George Hamilton, Tatum Oneal, Belinda Carlisle to name a couple...but that's only my opinion. Stalone...the show has been asking him and he says no...though I think he was just in a movie so that might knock him outta the has been to the still is lol
I'm sure Sly is godawful but I would actually love to see Melanie Griffith on the show just so we could get to see her hottie hubby Antonio Banderas every now and again. Now HIM I would LOVE to see. Oh my!!! :wub1:
I really don't get why they don't want Melanie on unless she let them know up front that she would want certain "things"....you know like a diva attitude. Because there is really no reason they should keep turning her down. yep I would love to see her hubby on there...talk about hotness lol
I'm glad Bristol came in 3rd...but she should have been gone long before that. Speaking of her, there's a vid on utube where she's on her mother's reality show and they are fishing for halibut. It shows her bashing the fish in the head and both of them are laughing and giggling...Palin said something about that's the humane way to kill them. Then it shows the fish all bloody and their mouths are still opening. It's really terrible to see :( I had no idea people kill them that way. I've never had halibut and I'm glad...i don't think I could ever get that sight out of my eyes if i tried to put it in my mouth.
