This season there is a Thia and a Pia, which is kind of confusing except Thia is Asian and Pia is not which is how I can tell them apart by name. I think the judges did a good job picking the top 24. My one issue is that they have gone back in the opposite direction with instruments. Will Nigel and crew ever let them use a piano, guitar or for Casey (his bass)? I hope Casey gets better so he doesn't have to drop out of AI. |

:lmfao: It's so nice to have company. LOLOL!!! I think Paul will go far in the competition. His voice is definitely unique, he's cute and his smile and teeth are out of this world brilliant. I told my hubby every time I see him I think of a toothpaste commercial and I just hear the "ding!" and he flashes those teeth! My problem with him so far has been song choice. I just haven't cared for his last two songs. I loved the duet he did with that one chick during Hollywood week, that's when I first noticed him. I picked Ashton to go. I don't know what happened but the diva sounded downright dismal.
Thanks. Yes, Thia, not Mia is who I was talking about......the young one. Pia is awesome, the total package--looks AND a voice. Did you know that Pia and Karen, the Latina chick, went to some sort of "Fame" school together? I just heard that today on Sirius and thought it was interesting. BL--what's the scoop on Casey? You always seem to know the behind the scenes stuff. I heard it's something to do with his stomach? That would be just horrible if he had to drop out! |

It has been reported that Casey has a bleeding stomach ulcer. Don't really have a person I am supporting yet. David Cook getting the goodbye song was nice, though wish it had been an original and not a cover. Edited by blosslover, Mar 12 2011, 03:45 PM.

MINE!!!!!!! He really did look fantastic, didn't he? I love the toned down, clean cut, almost preppy kind of look. Although he is anything but. Love that boy! :wub1: |

Excuse me? Let's make that ONE greedy little vixen and we both know who it is......and it ain't me!!! :P I thought the right person went home last night. Karen was okay but the Spanish in almost every song was getting a little redundant. I don't get why little Hayley is always in the bottom. I think she's awesome. I must be the only one who thinks that though! I'm definitely missing Simon and his spot on criticism. I do like the way Jennifer judges though and think she gives the kids very constructive criticism. She actually gives them things to work on. Imagine that! Although I still freakin' ADORE Steven Tyler, he is definitely the "Paula" of the bunch. Not a bad word to say about anyone. Who knew he was such a softie? |

I feel like Casey has been struggling on the big stage, though he has been ill. He has yet to do anything since Hollywood week that I really really enjoyed. Same with Pia... |

I heard some talking heads on one of the Sirius shows this week saying they thought America was done with Casey and I just find that hard to believe. Maybe a lot of these people didn't watch the auditions where he truly shined. I'll bet if he gets that bass out and does one of those really cool songs like he did earlier in the competition, he'll be back to the top again. He is soooooo unconventional but I really dig him. I truly hope his fans ban together and vote for him this week. I have a feeling that they will. :) |

Okay, I only saw a little of the 'Top 12 guys' episode and none of the girls (though I'd half-planned to), and I was gonna watch the first 12 (or... it was 13, right?)... anyway, I'm watching tonight, 'cuz I'm a big Elton John fan. These are mostly first impressions, then. I don't have any history, except for the Beatles/Final Judgment night, and then I'm sure I don't remember much... 1. Scotty McCreery - Hm. Country's not my thing, but there is a little 'Clay Aiken'-ish type thing in hearing THAT voice come out of a kid that looks like he does... 2. Naima Adedapo - Ooh. Yeah, kind of a risky choice, but it worked for me (I don't agree with J Lo or Randy), this reggae I'm Still Standing... if I was in the audience of a street performer/club/coffee shop/whatever, and a singer did this in the middle of her set, I know I'd have dug it... it didn't break the song for me... 3. Paul McDonald - Okay, I remember liking him on that other night I saw. Rocket Man. Daunting... such a classic... um... I'm in the middle on it. Liked some parts and not others... overall, okay, but I wouldn't wanna hear it on the radio. 4. Pia Toscano - Well, she's pretty, and vaguely Rachel Berry in her clip package... powerful voice, traditional arrangement (if maybe a little slowed down for showboating on the big notes). I liked it, but I don't know if I'd like her if I were watching her every week... 5. Stefano Langone - No. I might like him on something else, but not here... too iconic a song, and it didn't... I mean, you have Ewan McGregor on Your Song in Moulin Rouge, and that's, you know - wow, that's the quintessential Elton John cover, and so Stefano sings Tiny Dancer, and... nah. He has a good voice, but... I didn't like it. 6. Lauren Alaina - Yes. Great. She's cool. I like her. 7. James Durbin - Good. Probably the right song for him. 8. Thia Megia - She's gorgeous. I would love to have children with her. Song was fine, but maybe a little unremarkable. Pretty-sounding, but not exciting. (Tori Amos does a terrific 'Daniel') 9. Casey Abrams - Okay. I didn't love everything about it, but it was pleasant to listen to... he pulled it off... sweet and simple-sounding... I know he's been sick, was an early favorite, and a fairly shocking early-out-then-save, but this is the first time I've heard him sing, and based on it, I'd be interested to hear more... 10. Jacob Lusk - Grew on me a little by the end, but there was a 'fake' quality to the emotions in his voice, and... I don't know. I'm disagreeing with the raving judges. Maybe a song where I need it to sound more like Elton does it... 11. Haley Reinhart - Hm. I liked parts of the vocal... I liked the start of it, and she's obviously a very attractive girl, but I quickly tired of the too-big-of-a-smile (she looks great, but...), and too many big waves of her arms... I didn't hate it, but the performance felt a little silly to me... |

Wasnt crazy about last nights show. It was good but not great. I really think its time for Stefano to hit the road. I respect what Naima did in changing up the song but I didnt love the reggae. Theres something about Haley that bugs the heck outta me so I wouldnt mind if she left either. Those are definately my bottom 3. |

THAT voice coming out of him does seem a little odd. Don't know if you watched tonight but he and Lauren did a duet that I thought was fabulous. Country's not my cup of tea either but I think America will love this kid all the way to the finale. Love his gorgeous smile.....his singing not so much. It's a little on the weak side. LOVE this girl! I think she will definitely go far in the competition. Last night was definitely her best song of the season. Great job on Candle In The Wind. Two thumbs up! He's awesome. Seems very natural on stage. A lot of people call him an Adam wannabe but I disagree. They are similar for sure in that both of them are/were fearless and they both can screech a bit but James doesn't do the screech thing as much as Adam which is cool with me. Down boy, she's only 15 years old!!! (Maybe 16 by now.) He is so frickin' unique.....I like him a LOT. Ryan said they had 25 million more votes this week than last and I'll bet my life that most of those 25 mil were for Casey. I even voted for him for at least 45 minutes and I rarely vote except for the finale and only then if it's' someone that I REALLY love (like Adam). Last year I didn't vote one time. I was not saddened by who went home tonight. JBRR--TOTALLY agree with you about Stefano.....he needs to hit the road already. His singing is way old-fashioned for me. |

:slap: LOL! Scotty McCreery is from my neck of the woods. I'm not into Country music but I just can't get over that voice coming out of him. Of course all the local news stations are rooting for him and are having viewing parties every week. |

So what does everyone think of the surprising elimination? I blame them saving Casey as that threw things off and now I bet the judges are regretting that decision. |

While I liked Pia alot in the beginning she has started to come off quite fake to me the last couple weeks. I was a little surprised she went this soon but I dont really mind it much. Everyone is so good this season it kinda feels like a surprise every week but someones gotta go. Haley still bugs me and Stefano is not my cup of tea but once those 2 are gone it will be hard to see anyone go. Jacobs theatric faces might get him in trouble pretty soon too. Pia was clearly shocked and upset though so I did feel a little bad for her in that regard. |

Am I the only person who wishes they could "like" a post? If so I triple like jbrr1212's post!! Pia was an early standout but after the past couple weeks I was bored silly and felt she came across fake. It seems to be the trouble in Idol.....people start to watch at about the final ten and then an early front runner has a bad night and is eliminated. I probably could have watched her a few more weeks with the hope she got better, and would have loved to have seen Stefano go first. I agree though, after Stefano and Haley I pretty much like them all! |

I think part of the issue with these judges being so nice is that the casual/general viewer doesn't know who to vote for if you know what I mean. If everyone is great they call in for the person due to personality or other things. I'm just frustrated that again all the girls go home. http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/realityrocks/422461/nigel-lythgoe-pia-toscano-was-never-a-frontrunner/ The above is an interview with Nigel about this situation. |

LOL....we have become so engrained in Facebook-ese, right? I'm in line with both of you in your thoughts on Pia, Jacob, and Stefano. I actually like Haley although she's far from my faves (James, Casey). I really, REALLY hope they give serious consideration to what Nigel said in that interview and start having the judges choose who goes home from their pick of America's bottom three. And then, just like SYTYCD, the finale would be America's choice only. That would work for me. Because sometimes people don't realize their faves are in trouble and don't vote until they see them in the bottom which finally spurs their butts into action. For me, Simon's opinion is sorely missed. That being said, I adore Steven AND Jennifer so much. Randy would be the expendable one for me at this point. If they were shuffling/getting rid of judges. Which they're not! :P |

I don't even really care for the save, so giving the judges even more power would be frustrating. During SYTYCDance last year, I thought they did the bottom 3 for way too long. When you are at the top 5, that should no longer be an issue. Weird rumor I read that Pia is dating Mark Ballas from DWTS say what... |

So how do ya'll feel about James going home? OMG. I was shocked. Stunned. Pissed! :taz: And I feel partly to blame. I actually got off the stick and voted that night (Ryan mentioning the Daughtry curse may have had something to do with it) for James but then decided to vote for Haley as well because the judges were so frickin' mean to her when she sang her first song. (Am I the only one that actually liked the song and performance?) James' presence will be truly missed in the finale. He's the one that I looked forward to seeing the most and seeing what he's gonna do and how he's NOT going to listen to Jimmy Iovine that week and still kick ass. Bummer. |

Yeah James leaving is a bummer. Scotty seems to be the odds on favorite according to DialIdol, I'd be okay with that. Haley still bugs me but I do think the judges are hard on her. |

Seriously, Scotty is the frontrunner? I think he's a great kid with an awesome voice...for country. James was much more versatile. I think this is definitely the year for country AI singers. Haley is unique. Her personality isn't the greatest (which is why she probably won't win), but her voice is great and she's so cute. |

Traditionally the strongest voting block for AI is in the south. Some wonder if Scotty isn't the new Carrie Underwood, aka the country singer that has so many fans that no one will ever catch up to them in votes. Both Haley and Lauren have been in true bottom two/three, but Scotty never has. |
