Oh good grief. In typical fashion, AI is draggggging it out. An announcement about the upcoming announcement. At least make it fun like Jon Stewart's! So I hear that it IS J-Lo and Stephen Tyler, which will either be really good or a total train wreck.

I know. I'm sure I'll tune in to see the new judges but more for curiosity sake.

Glad to see the super-duper secret announcement is finally set in stone. Watching that little clip makes me think that Steven Tyler could be really good. Love how he wants to "bring a little rock to this rollercoaster". I think all of my resolve to quit watching AI this season just flew out the window!

LOL.......and we'll both be hooked once again before you know it. One of my buddies from high school just saw Adam Lambert in Fort Lauderdale. I was so jealous. Last year was such a snoozefest, hopefully they can find some contestants that are a bit more exciting this year.

I have my doubts about J-Lo. I wasn't all that impressed when she was a mentor. But hey, she can't be worse than Ellen, can she??? We'll see. At least it will be fun to see what she's wearing. I think she's gorgeous!

So........is anyone watching the new season? I have to say that I was awesomely, fabulously, and pleasantly surprised. Steven Tyler is a hoot! LOVE him. OMG, some of his comments were too freakin' funny. What a breath of fresh air! And Jennifer seemed really sweet and cool. And beautiful. I even liked Randy better! Even my hubby thinks they have great chemistry and seem much more relaxed and having fun than last year's godawful judging panel. Who knew?!? New Jersey was fun. The girl with the stars on her boobs was too funny. Looking forward to New Orleans!

I was bored, liked Steven Tyler, but wasn't entertained. BTW I am surprised you watched this tonight as I thought Mr. Howard Stern was going to be on CNN interviewed tonight at 9.

Think the Howard/Piers was last night. I missed it, but read about it a little today. Gervais tomorrow - I'll record that...

Funny - J. Lo told Ellen that she threatened to kill Ricky at the Globes...

I did not watch American Idol tonight.

I'll watch the doing-Beatles-songs-in-Vegas round.

I haven't watched AI in about 5 years and tuned in last night just to see Stephen Tyler (we are HUGE fans!!!!) I was pleasantly surprised. I don't know how bad last year was but I thought these guys had a lot of chemistry. I only hope J-Lo learns to say NO.

Loved Steven Tyler.....but hated the way the judges are all glitz and glamor now.....I dunno it just bugged me. Jennifer coming out of that fog to be announced as a judge....puke!

Yep, Dax is right. Howard's interview was Tuesday.....he taped it last Thursday. And it was fabulous, of course!

The Gervais interview is rather moot now since it was recorded before the Golden Globes.

JC--Stevie T. is frickin' AWESOME! I still miss Simon but I like that it's a total different vibe now and they really do seem to get along well and to be having fun. And last year that was soooooo not the case. It was almost uncomfortable to watch last year with Ellen trying so hard to be funny, Simon obviously bored with the entire thing, Kara.....well, who cares, and Randy was just Randy. I thought Jennifer was much better tonight at saying NO. I'm sure it takes time. It must be tough, I don't think I could do it. It was funny when she said to Randy, "How on earth were you able to do this for ten years?" :P

Nah, the Ricky interview is definitely post-Globes - they spent about half an hour discussing all of the reactions and showing clips...

I watched both shows this morning....gotta say I'm so over the audition part of the show...the sob stories...just gag me...but I LOVED Steven Tyler! He brought the funny with him :) Still sorta on the fence about Jennifer though. She certainly pretty to look at but not being able to say no, the tears, the need to hug...kinda gets on my nerves. Maybe by the time the auditions are done she'll get a little more edge to her. Randy...was just Randy.
Best part....seeing Steven join in when the guy was taking his shirt off. I don't miss Paula this season but I do miss Simon.

Gate! Did you watch yet??? I forgot to tell you that your boyfriend Steven Tyler was a surprise "mystery guest" on Howard last Tuesday. He was so much fun and even though Howard hates surprises because he likes to be prepared, it was a great interview.

I thought you were listening already! Also, there is something known as "replay" on the weekends, you know. Well, it's almost time for the next round of shows so somebody had better get on the stick and get to watching!

I don't like Steven Tyler. AT ALL. I don't remember when I've been so bored.

AI has now been deleted from my DVR.

Big agree Cheryl. Watched the first episode finally. Love love love Stephen Tyler. He is so fun to watch.

I also like J-Lo. She seems so sweet.

I was pleasantly surprised by the judges. I just hope they find some amazing breakout talent like Adam Lambert to keep me motivated once the auditions are over. ;)

I knew you would love it!!! I also find myself liking Jennifer and I was totally prepared NOT to like her. She's gorgeous to look at, too. I love her outfits. A big agree on hoping they find someone REALLY special this year like Adam. Because in the long run, it's all about the kids and the fun we have each week watching and rooting for them. Last season was a snoozer. So far it seems like there's been a LOT of talented ones but you never know. I think it's going to be a fun season though. Who knew? Last year, I was ready to check out.

I was reading the latest comments here and I decided to give Idol a shot, as I have not watched in a couple of years. I found myself really liking the show. J-lo and Stephen are really fun to watch and give the show some new life. I think it is kind of refreshing to watch them.

Fran--that's really cool you're liking it too. My hubby has always been rather iffy on the show. He'll watch because I have it on but it's not "must see" for him like it is for me. He was saying tonight how Steven Tyler looks like he's having fun and I was like....."That's it!" What's nice about this season is that they DO look like they're having a good time. As compared to the last couple of years with that HAWW-RIBLE Kara and Ellen last year who just tried too damn hard. To me it just has to kind of flow naturally and that's what I see with these new judges. What a really nice surprise this has been!

Okay, did anyone else cry last night when that little 15 year old Jaycee got kicked out of his original group and finally got taken in by the other group? OMG. I totally lost it when they performed. So touching. I'm loving the show this year so much. Steven Tyler is DA BOMB. :wub1:

Okay. I have not missed American Idol, but I did wanna check in a time or two, see Steven and J. Lo...

Last night was my best first shot to sample - I wanted to see the Beatles round (61 to 40). I was a bit bummed that Fox asked them (per Nigel's tweet on it) to trim that two hours down to one so they could devote more time to the tears and the drama of the Final Judgment down-to-20, but at least this way I'll get to see some more recap...

I liked Naima Adedapo and Paul McDonald.

I didn't really see enough to get much of an opinion on Tyler and Lopez. She sure seems 'in charge' (at least until the big breakdown at the end, of course...).

Carry on, Idol... I'll come back for the 3/9 show (Top Ten-or-Twelve), and MAYBE next week for the top ten guys (Tuesday) and girls (Wednesday). But I'm not going to get sucked back in.

(I'm going to watch the first season of Simon's X-Factor in the fall, and I'll watch the Oxygen Channel's 'The Glee Project' this summer, since I'm invested in that enough...)

Haha, Lisa. So did I, don't feel bad. I agree about this group. At first I didn't think so but after last night, I think there are quite a few standouts. My early faves are James (Asberger's guy), Casey Abrams (most unique and talented singer on Idol EVER) and Pia who besides being incredibly gorgeous can actually sing. I'm not into country but the two young country kids are cute and I'm sure will do well. And the little Asian 15 year-old (Mia?) is really good although she lacks confidence which hurts her in the long run. Still adore Steven so much.

And what a great surprise, MY Adam Lambert was on tonight!!! Looking FABULOUS, I might add. :wow:

Damn the power of Idol! I got sucked back in too lol. I held out for a long time but it still got me. I actually like most of them so that makes it much more interesting.

I find Paul (I think thats his name, short skinny blonde guy) very bizarre but I love him for some reason. Casey, James, Pia, and Scotty are my other top contenders so far. Thought the bottom 3 was pretty accurate.
