OK, so watched the first intro or whatever you call it. I wonder though if it going to turn into one of those things that is so damn confusing and convoluted that I will be annoyed by it. I will watch a couple epis for sure.

Yeah.

Beautifully shot, well acted, but after watching the pilot, it's really not very clear what's going on or where we're going with it.

I'm 'intrigued', but not as immediately 'enthralled' with it as I'd kinda hoped/expected I would be.

I will watch at least four before abandoning... don't expect I will, but... yeah, I'm not SURE about it...

Cast
-
James Badge Dale -- Will Travers
Jessica Collins -- Maggie Young
Lauren Hodges -- Tanya MacGuffin
Dallas Roberts -- Miles Fiedler
Christopher Evan Welch -- Grant Test
with Arliss Howard -- Kale Ingram
and Miranda Richardson -- Katherine Rhumor

Anyone still watching? Because it's on AMC, I'm still trying to get into this show. I like the atmosphere of it but it's not holding my attention for an entire episode. And I agree that it feels like it may become too convoluted for me to give a damn, Krystal.

On last night's episode, it seemed silly to me that Will would take apart the motorcycle before he thought about peeling that piece of tape off the seat. Was that supposed to be one of those "they hide in plain sight" things?

Yeah it's moving slowly. There's stuff I like and i hate to give up on it given the pedigree, but it lags on the dvr and isn't 'calling' to me to watch it ASAP. The local reviewer commented that it doesn't really gel until e5 or 6, so I'll continue to give it time to build.

I like it, but it's still kind of a question mark. Pretty sure I'm in for the whole first season, but if I'm still in doubt at THAT point, I'll pass on Season 2.

Big agree with bilki on the motorcycle... yeah, before taking the whole thing apart... peeling the tape on that seat is the FIRST place I'd have thought to look...

Really, the motorcycle stuff was dumb, like take the tape off, first thing I'd do for sure.

Another dumb thing, the way the father in law was killed, hitting a train with another? How were they sre he wouldn't be up using the can? Why kill all those other people?

I do think I like the show though, it seems smart somehow, I am willing to give it a few more weeks.

I enjoyed Sunday night's episode a little more when I watched the replay on Monday night. Some action there at the end. Good to hear that it starts to come together a bit more in a few episodes.

I thought the train thing was odd, too. What if he had missed that train? All of those people are dead for nothing! Looks like we're dealing with the kind of people who don't mind killing innocent bystanders.

This continues to move slowly. I'm not exactly bored but not really engaged either. I wish they'd pace it better, and maybe develop the clues more so we understood the codes, ciphers, and cryptograms, etc. It'll tick me off if they mumble-stumble thru those and we're supposed to be amazed and mystified by the cleverness of the puzzles second hand.

I'm still watching but I'm not hooked, as I was with the first episodes of both Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Not that this show is trying to be either one of those. James Badge Dale isn't a great lead. I like him but I'm don't find him fascinating. Miranda Richardson has my attention but I'm not fully invested in her search for what was going on with her dead husband. And I don't care enough about the puzzles to try to figure out whatever the hell is going on with them.

What kind of ratings does this show have to maintain to stay on the air? I see they've lost a nice chunk of the audience since the premiere but maybe that's still higher than what Mad Men and Breaking Bad did during their first seasons.

Yes, I find James Dale kind of dull, and well, homely. Not that Brian Cranston is a looker, or the cast of SOA (other than Jax), but it's just that he seems so boring.
I want to like it, but we'll see.

I am getting in to the show more now. It would seem the Dale character has really come upon something regarding top secret orders or something. So they kill his boss and are bugging him and following him, why don't they ust kill him too?

Now regarding the clover and the woman trying to find out what happened with her husband, question is were these guys ordered to kill themsleves or were they hypmotized (sp?) like Manchurian Candidate? And why?

Lord, these people are all socially inept.

I can't see this going on for more than one season.

No one watching? You really can't tell who is doing what, do these agencies really work like this? If so no wonder the world is a mess.

I didn't see this week's episode. Might catch it On Demand. It really isn't *must-see* for me. If I see it, okay.....

Because there's nothing else to watch at the time, I still turn it on but I'm not fully paying attention. The show still feels as messy as it did during the first four episodes I actually made an effort with. If the point of show were to demonstrate why the world is such a mess, maybe I could finally get into it.

I missed the first 3 but caught the mini catch-up they had OnDemand for each episode. I thought it was OK but nothing I had to watch. I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with more now that the new Fall season had begin.

The show is coming together some, still a lot of mystery. I think the rich guys (Americans) are planning a terrorist attack to blame it on one of the Middle Eastern countries and start another war or something to benefit themselves politically. Dale's boss Kyle seems to be trying to twart this, but since they killed his father in law I don't get why they would not kill both of them. Anyone else watching? How many more epis? I doubt this gets another season, anyone hear?

Actually I think you need to pay attention as this is a subtle not in your face show. Probably too subtle to be renewed.

Subtle, but (imo) boring. I have the last two on dvr and not really pulled to watch, especially as every evening there are new things piling up.

I had to scratch Bros and Sisters... I have to count on OnDemand for bunches of stuff, esp. Mon/Tues. This might be dumped

So I guess the agency is actually causing the disasters to make money for the "big guys". I guess the boss will stroke out when he sees Will walk in. I wondered if using the "cleaner" was better than calling the cops and telling them someone was trying to kill him, having that on the record. Hope he does not totally break off with the neaighbor, but not sure she isn't a spy too.

Any word on another season?

Okay, all caught up.

Despite the slow pace I keep being pulled into this one. I'd be more likely to watch this in the summer...

The recent eppy was written by Joss Whedon's brother Zack... It's getting better reviews than normal....

I am into it too, even though it does move slowly. Takes some thinking but not too obtuse like Lost became.

Just watched the finale, irritated that it was not a little more "final". In any case, I was glad to have seen it through, it was good. I cannot see ow they would possibly do another season though.

AMC not going forward with a second season.

The official statement:

"'Rubicon' gave us an opportunity to tell a rich and compelling story,
and we're proud of the series. This was not an easy decision, but we
are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a
phenomenally talented and dedicated team."

Their next one sounds great, though. (August press release here)

AMC PICKS UP NEXT ORIGINAL SERIES: Untitled Project from Veena Sud, Formerly Known As The Killing

Mireille Enos (Big Love) to Star

New York, NY - August 11, 2010 - AMC announced today a full series order for the pilot that was formerly known as The Killing, from writer and executive producer Veena Sud (Cold Case). Sud has signed on to also serve as the showrunner for the series, which is currently untitled. Set in Seattle, the series is based on the wildly successful Danish television series "Forbrydelsen" and tells the story of the murder of a young girl and the subsequent police investigation. Produced by Fox Television Studios, it is executive produced by Mikkel Bondesen (Burn Notice) for Fuse Entertainment. Fuse's Kristen Campo co-produces. AMC first announced the pilot order in January 2010 with Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing the pilot. Production on the series begins this fall in Vancouver and season one consists of 13, one-hour episodes. The series is slated to premiere in 2011 on AMC.

Today's announcement marks the fifth original series greenlight for AMC. The first four were Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Rubicon and The Walking Dead.

"We are thrilled to be moving forward with this stunning piece of television. It is a crime drama, but it is also a gripping character based story that pulls you in and doesn't let go. The storytelling is completely compelling, and the show is visually breathtaking. Veena, Patty, Fuse, FTVS and the cast did a phenomenal job of bringing it to life." said Joel Stillerman, AMC's senior vice president of original programming, production and digital content.

"Ever since Mikkel Bondesen brought us this remarkable Danish mini-series, we were determined to bring it to American television," said David Madden, Executive Vice President, Fox Television Studios. "We are so proud to be working with AMC and our extraordinary cast on this very special series."

As "Sarah," Mireille Enos (Big Love) portrays the lead homicide detective that investigates the death of Rosie Larsen. Other previously announced castings include: Billy Campbell (Once and Again, Enough) as Darren Richmond, Seattle's City Council President, running for Mayor; Michelle Forbes (True Blood) as Mitch Larsen, the victim's mother; Joel Kinnaman (Snabba Cash) as Stephen Holder, an ex-narc cop who joins the homicide division in the investigation to find Rosie Larsen's killer; and Brent Sexton (W., In the Valley of Elah) as Stan Larsen, the victim's father.

The series ties together three distinct stories around a single murder including the detectives assigned to the case, the victim's grieving family and the suspects. The story also explores local politics as it follows politicians connected to the case. As it unfolds, it becomes clear that there are no accidents; everyone has a secret, and while the characters think they've moved on, their past isn't done with them.

AMC's Joel Stillerman, senior vice president of original programming, production and digital content and Susie Fitzgerald, senior vice president of scripted development and current programming, oversee development and production for the network.

AMC, which recently received 26 Emmy nominations, is the only network in television history to win three consecutive Golden Globe awards for best dramatic series for Mad Men (2008, 2009, 2010). Now in its fourth season, the series is garnering its highest ratings to date. The first two seasons of Breaking Bad awarded the outstanding lead actor Emmy award to Bryan Cranston for his portrayal of lead character Walt White. Rubicon, a conspiracy thriller starring James Badge Dale (HBO's The Pacific), premiered August 1st. The Walking Dead premieres in October.
