Looks like there's not a thread for this season. I'm halfway through and it's been pretty darn good, so far! |

OK, this is going to be out of order. I'll have to go back and comment on episodes 1-7 after I'm done. Episode 8:A Night to Remember Betty told Don not to come home! Love it! That scoundrel lied about having an affair with Bobby Barrett. Just like a man! I thought Joan would be a bit more vicious after Harry hired a guy to take over her script reading job. And she was so getting into who was coming back from the dead on As The World Turns. I hope there's more to this story...regarding Joan, that is. Pleased to finally have a soap opera mention. How funny that her fiance thought she should be at home eating bon bons. Oh, what women had to put up with!!! Not that I would complain. Peggy getting pissy with Father Gill for not backing her up with those uptight church ladies (regarding the "Night to Remember" flyers) is what I love about Peggy. Episode 9:Six Month Leave Freddy Rumsen pisses himself and passes out before the meeting with the Samsonite people! LOL! Of course, slimey Pete had to go and tattle on him. Loved it when Peggy went to confront Pete about ratting out poor Freddy. But Pete points out that she wouldn't have been promoted if he hadn't tattled on Freddy. Oh slimey Pete, what a good point you make! Betty is having a break down after kicking out Don. The poor dear looks like a wreck! Roger is leaving Mona for a secretary??? And it's Don secretary, Jane??? Edited by bilki, May 31 2010, 05:19 PM.

Hahahaha......you crack me up so much! :lmfao: That Don is such a liar AND a whoredog. :plzdie: But he's sooooo damn HOT...lol.
I know!!! And to make matters worse, it's that little twit Lucy from ATWT!!! Although, to be fair, her acting has improved considerably in the last few years. Did anyone see that special on SNL last night featuring the years 2000-2009? Jon Hamm was mentioned by some of the castmates as a really cool dude when he hosted the show and they played a clip of him imitating James Mason that was hysterical. It was a really funny special. I love those things......you get all the good skits without all of the crappy filler ones. They showed a LOT of Will Ferrell as Dubya. OMG, I had forgotten how hilarious he was! |

I'm watching as many as I can! Both the writing and acting are so good that I can't help but watch one right after another. And I've not had this experience before, as I always watch shows in real time. So it's been fun. The only thing I miss is not having someone to talk to after each episode. A friend of mine just watched all of season 2 in about a day and a half but she hasn't texted me back at all.
Can you believe it??? I could see him leaving Mona for Joan but that Jane Siegel??? UGH! She's a child! And he thinks he's in love with her. Good grief, does this man think with nothing but his penis??? And speaking of thinking but nothing but your penis, what about Don taking off to Palm Springs with that little Joy! Leaving Pete there to do all the work, not that I'm all that fond of Pete. But these guys certainly don't practice what they preach. Loved it when Kurt 'came out' there at the office. And you could see Sal's mind ticking away. Very kind of Kurt to give Peggy a much needed haircut. OK, I have two episodes left. This season has been great. I'm quite fond of some of the quiet moments....and when the characters are refreshingly honest with each other. I still would like to see more of Joan, though the next episode description says she brings her fiance to meet everyone at the office. |

Fun fact - Slattery's real wife plays Mona... Mmmm, Peyton List... (Jane)... You're past the point where this will spoil anything... my favorite piece of comedy written about the show so far - http://www.cracked.com/blog/why-you-should-be-watching-mad-men/ Draper that shit! Jon Hamm was one of the BEST first-time SNL hosts, and I was glad he did it again this year (plus, it's such a cool romantic story that Moss met future-husband Fred Armisen because Amy's pregnancy had her unable to play Peggy in their Mad Men sketch, so Moss came in, and...). |

Peggy told Pete about the baby!!! Great scene! Loved it when Don told Duck, "I don't have a contract," and walked out of the boardroom. Joan's cute fiance turned into a creep right before our very eyes. I see he's in some episodes in season 3, so looks like there's more to this story. Awkwardly charming when Betty found Glen hiding out in Sally's playhouse. I was pleased to see Glen and his mother, again. Funny when Betty caught Sally smoking, and then shut her in the closet for all of 10 seconds. I knew Betty was going to get preggers, again. Read it somewhere. I'm guessing Don and Betty will get back together. I know bits and pieces of what happens in season 3, so I looking forward to how it plays out.
Yes, I figured you'd be salivating. Funny article there at cracked.com. I won't be able to marathon season 3 like I have 1 and 2. Watching it through NetFlix, so I'll have to send a one disc back before I can watch the next one. But I see there's a season 3 thread, so I'll be able to read along while I watch. |

I've said it before, and now just for you Bilki ----my dream series finale is that Joan and Peggy end up owning the agency! :)

Yes, that would be awesome! I think it's interesting how Joan was the more confident/assertive one in the first season but Peggy has certainly gained some ground on Joan in that department. I really wanted Joan to put up a fight over Harry hiring that guy to take over her script reading job. But I can't imagine what it was like for a woman in that day and age. One could argue that Joan is great at being the head secretary and there's some security in that. I'm surprised that Joan hasn't stepped out of her comfort zone. Part of what makes this show so compelling. Both actresses are fantastic! Edited by bilki, Jun 1 2010, 05:21 PM.

Ugh.....Joan's fiance. What a lowlife scumbag. :violent: The character of Joan is so great, as is the actress. My one complaint is that we don't see enough of her. I was soooooooo hoping that she and Roger would get back together. Well, there's always season four! You have almost two months before the new season begins. Take your time.......savor it. It sucks when you get to the end of a fabulous series on dvd. I hated it last summer when I finished watching Angel and Buffy after a gloriously long dvd run. Cheryl was a sad, sad girl and regretted the fact she had zipped through a lot of both series like lightning, just like you are doing with MM. Be sure to keep posting even if there is already a thread about season 3. I like hearing your thoughts, plus it's getting me ready and anxious for the new season. |

I couldn't help but zip through, Cheryl. And with only 13 episodes it was over before I knew it. I'll rewatch season 1 after I'm finished with season 3. I'm looking forward to going back seeing where they started after I know where they go. One of the articles linked in the season 3 thread said Matthew Weiner makes his writers watch The Apartment, so I'm going to check that out. Maybe I'll find something else relevant from the 60s. Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf is one of my favorite movies but it's a little later in the decade. Joan and Roger have a charming chemistry but he did leave his wife for that Jane Siegel. I don't know if I'd trust him to do right by Joan. Loved it when Bert Cooper's sister said something about letting Roger die in the arms of a 20 year old. I have some general knowledge about season 3, so I'm really looking forward to seeing that play out. Any thoughts or opinions about Jimmy and Bobbie Barrett? The episode in which Peggy goes to pay Don's fine after he wrecks the car is one of my favorites. And I love the manner in which Peggy handles all of Bobbie's nosey questions while Bobbie camps out at Peggy's place. I thought Jimmy should have been the one to punch Don in the face! |

I really loved all the Jimmy/Bobbie stuff... Jimmy exposing to Betty being that big 'last straw'... all of the acting was brilliant... (Jimmy - Patrick Fischler - then turned up as a Dharma guy on Lost...) Yeah, I love all the stuff relating to Don/Peggy, an always interesting relationship... |

Right (but I haven't seen it since Mad Men 2 - but when imdbing him, that was my 'Oh, it's that guy! Knew I knew him from somewhere...'). |
