Anyone going to watch it tonight? I'm going to give it a spin and see if it's any good. Let's just hope I don't fall in love with it because we all know that's the kiss of death for a TV show. ;)

I have it TIVO'd, how was it? Sounded like potential, but as you say Gate, if we like it, it is probably a gonner.

It's on tonight, Krystal.

It doesn't look very good. I'm reading lots of unfavorable things, and haven't seen positive support for it...

Amy Acker (Fred and Illyria on Angel) is in it. I like her. M.C. Gainey (Lost), Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under). I'll watch the first one.

It's eight shows. Regardless of how we find its quality, I think it's HIGHLY unlikely to return next season.

Steven Weber is there, it's a must for me.

But the reviews didn't sound too good :(

It's getting pretty universally ripped to shreds. Anyone here see it? Should I check it out on-demand? I do like Acker and some of the cast.....

Halfway in... yeah, this is a giant waste of time and the talents of everybody (that has some) involved.

Conroy not in the pilot... Robert Wisdom (The Wire, Prison Break) - I forgot about him... Abraham Benrubi (ER, Men in Trees) a guest in the pilot...

Terrible. Truly terrible. I will be astonished if they air all of the next seven episodes.

Acker is pretty. I like Gainey's voice.

Dax, really?

Poor Steven. Especially, if it's true what I think that he was cast much later.

Yeah, it's really bad.

I fasted through most of the second half. Watched the end, and the preview for next week (if, um, it airs... this could well be a one-and-out, like that Heather Graham comedy, Emily's Reasons Why Not, a few years ago...). They'd probably do better with a DWTS or Bachelor encore...

So Gate, did you watch? I'm curious now. I don't recall seeing a show so universally panned in ages! What did you think???

I just watched and I liked it! Who panned it and why? it is a good cast plus the premise of a serial murderer in a small town with some weird characters has potential.

I agree Krystal. I liked it. I see serious potential. I'm not sure why the ugly reviews. Oh well. I guess it definitely a goner since I liked it.

I guess I can admit that DH liked it too. He also like Harper's Island and this is similar. I could take or leave it.

I like Sam Neil (sp?) a lot and he seems to have a real creep factor going for him here. Also, I was wondering why the Hell a young newly rich woman would choose to come to Bumkinville MN, no less with all the shit weather to open a store. Well, more to it than that we see.. Of course I'd be sneaking up the stairs too..

Ausiello Twitter ~ "Bad sign for HAPPY TOWN: After this week's episode, show will go off the air until June 2."

I've only seen the 1st one so far and am not sure I'm going to even bother now.

Well, it's a GOOD sign (that it's been scheduled to return post-season) that all eight episodes will get burned off on-air (as opposed to on-line only).

It's only a mild surprise that it's getting in-season dumped after three - I thought it'd be gone after two.

(... there are still two unaired Better Off Ted episodes, darn it...)

DH isn't going to be happy about the hiatus, but at least they're going to air the other episodes.

Yeah but he won't be happy left hanging in the middle of a season. I think I may just forget about the rest of them because the last thing I want is a story with no ending. :(

It's a good thing I didn't get too attached to this show. ABC is really becoming a station not to get invested in. I still miss Ugly Betty :(

>> ABC is really becoming a station not to get invested in.

Every network cancels shows that don't have enough viewers. ABC isn't any guiltier of this than CBS, NBC, or FOX... now maybe you were interested in SAMPLING more shows from a particular network and so it SEEMS like they've got a higher kill-ratio... but another person will feel the same way about ANOTHER network, and so on...

It does look like they're gonna go 0-for-6 in last year's new dramas making it to a second season. But it's not like they were going to become successes if they gave them more time... they were all drowning...

And Ugly Betty after four isn't a CRUEL, premature cancelation, is it? (I didn't keep up with it, so I don't know if I'd think it maybe had another year or two in it, I'm just going by reading general thoughts here and there... I know America Ferrera might be anxious to get more available-for-movies time...).

I'm done with Happy Town. I watched the 1st episode and liked it but once I saw it was cancelled I decided not to bother with the rest. The thing I hate most to start watching something and not see it through to the end.

Again, all eight produced episodes MAY air (or may not - but they haven't yet said that they won't), but it was always extremely unlikely that any MORE than these would ever be produced... which then became certain when it premiered to a small audience (even though they did promote it pretty heavily) and the worst critical reviews I saw for any new show this season.

Two coming from ABC this summer that you may consider 'dead on arrival' - summer burn-off, but if you like them and don't have much else to watch, 'what the hell' prospects - The Gates and Scoundrels. Both have some actors we like in them.

You can't ALWAYS tell what's going to be DOA... Grey's Anatomy, of course, was a late spring start, with time to only run 9 of its 13 order in-season...

Fox's The Good Guys (from the creator of Burn Notice, with Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks) LOOKED like it was only gonna be a summer burn-off, but Fox likes it, has ordered seven more, and kept it on the fall schedule (a Friday death slot, sure, but hey, it's SOMETHING). And it looked like bad news for Lie To Me, with more than half of this season getting Idol-crowded-out into the summer... but it got renewed, and is on in the fall...
