Since I won't see True Blood season three for a long time, but have read "Club Dead" I appreciate hearing about the differences. It makes me sad that Claudine and the other fairy characters aren't represented well. From what it looks like they don't handle the weres well either. :(

Well I'm still withholding judgment. Every time I think Ball's pushed the show beyond the brink he comes back with an excellent episode and teeters back from the edge.

There's a whole list of complaints in the TWoP book thread that I didn't even reference, but the biggies seem to be that Ball is overly smitten with Bill at the expense of every other character and plot, and that TBSookie is nowhere near as strong a character as BookSookie. For example, in Club Dead Sookie kills off Lorena with no help at all from Bill.

Wow.....the show seems ten times gorier this season. I did NOT like the storyline with Sam's brother doing the dog fighting. I just hate that!

Still loving me some Jason, though. Best line of the night:

Jason: “I never thought I was smart enough to be depressed.” :lmfao: :lmfao: :lmfao:

Where was Jessica this week? I missed her!

Oh......and I just want to add that Eric is so freaking hot. More Eric, less Bill please.

That pretty much sums up the bookers. LOLOL

Really REALLY disappointed in the season, and the season finale was just a mess. If this were on during the fall/winter season instead of summer, I might be passing......

Big agree. I just hope they can pull things together next season and make me care more.

I still love the show and I'm not giving up on it but I have to agree, this was the suckiest season ever. Too much focus on gore and stupid shit and not enough focus on the core characters. The best part of the finale was when Eric "came back to life" and surprised that asshole Bill. I couldn't stop laughing at him with the cement all over him. The Russell character was annoying, I still don't even really know who the hell that chick was that Jason got involved with (nor do I care), and WTF happened with Tara this season? She was so much fun in season one but this season and last, she's been nothing but a morose, whiny drag.

Still loving Hoyt and Jessica, ANYTHING Eric or Jason (sans ugly blonde chick), and Sookie, of course. My hubby and I love to say "Soo-keeee" the way Bill pronounces it. :P

Oh! And I love Pam too!!! She cracks me up.

I'm still on board. Yeah, this was the least of the three seasons, but it wasn't as big a disappointment to me as the fourth season of Big Love was...

I don't love all the stories on the show, but there are scenes and moments and performances in every episode that I DO love... the photography is always awesome, and sometimes I even get to see Sookie naked for a little bit.

Disagree with Cheryl that there was too much focus on gore. I love the exploding vampire effects, and the grossness of Russell playing with his Talbot goo (and the execution of that newscaster was awesome). I enjoyed Russell a lot - he was a fun villain.

>> WTF happened with Tara this season?

Well, remember that no time at all has passed since Eggs was killed - and then she's kidnapped and raped and shit by Franklin. So I'm cool with her not being all sunshiney... I like the bit in the finale where she comes out of Sam's trailer and is in the Merlotte's lot and flashes on the deaths of Miss Jeanette, Eggs, and Franklin -- all there, all recently. It's good that she drove away at the end. Hopefully, she'll get some peace next year...

>> not enough focus on the core characters.

Can't agree with that at all. It's fine to not LIKE what they were doing, but... Sookie, Bill, Jason, Tara, Sam, Lafayette - they all got plenty of story time.

I was confused about the cement in Pam's hair at the end... I guess Ruben had tried to kill her in the same fashion?...

And we get exposition that Bill sent for the Queen, but the last we (sorta, off-screen) saw her, she was captive at Russell's... how'd that change?

I liked the (latest) Sookie/Bill break-up and Eric's quick return from Bill's lil' betrayal... 'I want my phone back'. Ha.

William Sanderson (Bud) had a very light season, kind of odd. Bud quit early on, which was funny, but Sanderson's name stayed in the credits and I assumed that we'd continue to see him here and there, but we didn't.

I love Jessica. She can feed on me anytime, so long as I can do the same to her...

I was assuming that Pam killed Ruben, then tracked Eric. (The bond thing with progeny.) So then she had to rescue Eric by cement diving.

Which, not that I reflect, makes no sense. If the cement wasn't quick-set and was "loose" enough when Pam arrived to rescue Eric, then Eric should have been able to pull himself out.

Hmmpph

Yeah, I kinda talked myself through that later... my earlier assumption was that Eric (nowhere near as hurting as Russell was) freed himself, but, right. Pam probably saved him.
