So there are Werewolves this season? I just finished the last one. Also, Bill got snatched at the last minute there, it seems you all don't know who took him yet. |

So it appears. They're always a little slow starting out so we know nothing yet. The previews looks pretty cool, though. Krystal--will you wait until this season comes out on dvd or are you going to bite the bullet and get HBO? |

No HBO, I guess maybe we should get it again but now they packaged it so you have to get a bunch of other channels I don't want with it. Besides, it is sort of fun doing the Marathon, as we will be doing with Dexter when it comes out. |

You have more patience than I do........I'm too greedy. I want to watch them now! Once I gave up Showtime to save a little money and the minute the next season of Dexter started, I lasted all of a week until I was on that phone getting it back. |

HBO picks up TRUE BLOOD for a fourth season. :D ITA Chery with everything you said. Love Jason/Andy. They are a hoot. ERICK is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stephen Moyer's British accent in real life blew me away .... damn he's a great actor. Tara is boring me ... As Howard would say 'Boo hoo'. KMI, I think they did 'fix' or do something with Bill's makeup because he looked much better this season. ;) |

#2 adds some Main Cast... Jesus (Layfayette's Mom's caretaker), Lorena (who has been Main Cast credited before, but only in episodes she appears in), Russell, the king of Kentucky and Bill's abductor, and Crystal, the cute girl that just ran away from Jason while he was tagging along on Andy's radio call. |

Much love for much of the episode....but it's clear that I am NOT going to enjoy the stupid Nazi werewolf plot. Nothing like the books. very minor spoilers based on previews..... Spoiler: click to toggle Given the foreshadowing, there is one book plot that's in the works. I was thinking they'd skip that twist and am glad they haven't. But it will be a herculean task for Ball to get from A to B this season, let alone to C, so this should be fun... |

It's small comfort that reading around the web I'm not the only one who thought the most recent episode was an abomination. So far S3 has been disappointing at best. The TWoP recaplet pretty much nailed everything I disliked. Add in that Alcide wasn't much (yet), the weres are jerks, and the V storyline continues to make a mess of the show, and that sums up my feelings. http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/show/true_blood/it_hurts_me_too.php?grade=9 I haven't been this turned off by something I really enjoyed in a long time. I still love the show although I agree this eppy was a bit whacked. Alcide wasn't all that but hey, it's only his first eppy. I'm willing to give him some time. That was about the goriest eppy I can ever recall watching. And we were eating dinner while we watched! Jessica and Pam were a hoot. Pam is freaking hysterical this season. "Spit it out, cupcake, I'm in the middle of something." OMG!!! :lmfao: I could care less about Sam's trashy family but LOOOVE it when Jason decided to become a cop for about a minute. OMG, when Hoyt was helping Jason study for the police exam and he didn't know a single answer. So funny! Consider me to still be on Team Eric!!! :wub1: |

This past epi was just so-so for me. Bill twisting her neck around didn't bother me much...maybe cuz I don't like her lol I watched it once with my granddaughter and spent so much time muting and having her look away that I had to watch it again once she went home. Pam having a good time with the dancer...not something I want to explain to a 9 year old...let her daddy do dat. I'm not willing to stop watching because I'm hoping it's going to get better but I'm with you KMInfinity on some of the things you dislike. Add to your list the whole idea of Sookie going into the bar and acting the way she did...I know she wanted to find some info but she walked in with a "tude" like she was invincible. Alcide is a hot little piece of work but Eric is still hotter. I like Jessica more this season and she is funny with Pam. Other than being disgusted by Sam's father...hate looking at him in his dirty looking drawers, I hope they aren't going to have this family on regular. And the V story...yeah...can we just get an end to it soon? |

Agree sista! I'm not lovin' this season yet but I figure it's just starting out and there are so many new characters and stories that it does keep my interest. I was mortified when Bill went back to see his wife and saw his dead son. I just can't even imagine the pain. |

I was wondering if anyone could point me to a good screen capture of the fireplace in Sookie's grandmother's front parlor: the white(ish) one? DD pointed it out as one of the most beautiful she had ever seen and I thought I'd like a good image to put in my 'wish book' for the house. Many, many, many thanks in advance if anyone can help me out. Edited by tgir, Jul 5 2010, 11:17 PM.

KMInfinity...my son was asking the same thing about his daughter wanting to google for info. I told him if she googles and finds an answer and then reads/uses the answer, at least she's learning something. Seems like it's just a short cut to finding info. I also told him to think of it as an encyclopedia lol. |

Exactly. We had a set of encyclopedias when I was a kid. Now I have the internet. And googling for information has NOT made me quit reading books. Pulleeze! :blah: |

It depends as now there are some things years ago I had to remember, and now I don't have to if that makes sense. I do find it frustrating how as the years have gone on it has become harder and harder to find long discourses on the web on certain topics. Then again as we all well know I write novellas on certain topics. When it comes to books, I do skim, but I always skim if something isn't amazing to me. |

Finally. This episode pulls things back on track and hits the right notes....and makes me believe it can keep from spilling into major camp. Best quote from TWoP: :lmfao: |

I was relieved when I saw the show last night. I enjoyed it and I kinda, sorta, felt sorry for Franklin...poor thing only wants someone to love him lol. The Tara stuff was funny. Still not into Sam's family but I am curious what the hell that was about between his brother and father. Was trying to remember how that was in the books but just can't...was that in the books or was it new? Hope it picks up a bit because it seems like it's dragging to me. |

So much is different from the books at this point - I'd say 70% is different. Different-is-good-stuff: Tara - except please don't make her such a doormat. Franklin - almost a brand new character. Lafayette - and hawt Jesus! Jessica!!! Stuff I'm sorry is different: -The V-drug stuff is way low key in the books. Its position as a major plot driver is something I'd be happy to see changed. -king of Mississpppi and his Were pack connections... -The Weres are far more powerful, disciplined, tougher and cooler in the books. None of them are hooked on V or involved with The King or Nazi-like stuff. -Calvin and the folks of Hotshot aren't drug dealing white trash. :( -Serious lack of southern charm, hospitality, community. -Sophie Anne - such a twit on the show.... On the fence: -Talbot -King of Mississppi and his agenda (?) -Sam's family. It's completely different. 100% changed. I forget. Is Sam's brother a "full" brother, and is dad a shifter? In the books, Weres and Shifters can only be born of two Shifter parents...and even then, only the first-born inherits the Shifter abilities. This limits the numbers and causes some stupid events in the books and Harrris has said that mythology ended up being too restrictive...but it did impact Sam's family... |

Pretty strong consensus from the bookreading community that Ball has screwed up royally. Up till now, it seemed that most who have read the books loved the show despite differences, but that Club Dead (book) is much superior to the show (at this point.) Some major bitches: -By now, Sookie and Eric should be heating up, because... -Bill's betrayal (seeking out Sookie at the Queen's behest) has been toned down. -Bill's rape of Sookie has also been eliminated. In the book, he didn't merely feed on Sookie near to death. -Werewolf/V story now considered a major misstep. -BookClaudine is SO AWESOME. TBClaudine, meh. -The Fairies in the book are so *urban-post-LoTR* but the TB Fairies are just....well, as a TwoP poster said, "to put it kindly, they make Peter Pan look tough." |
