jbrr1212....i got a kick out of the toilet scene with Nigel. Won't go into it since Gate hasn't seen it yet but I thought it was funny and awkward.

OMG. The judges driving to each contestant's house was downright painful. Especially when they had BAD news! I LOVE that Wopakaneta Ohio kid. He is the cutest thing. Soooo glad he made it! When he made Lil C cry, it was so touching. That was the best part of the entire night for me.

I just finished watching last night's show and I'm a bit confused. I didn't even realize it was on until I saw it this morning. The show didn't count as a voting/judging night. They introduced the top 11 and the "vets" and each dancer did a dance in their style along with one or more "vet".

First thing...I really thought all the dancers danced wonderful. It was nice seeing Twitch, Courtney, and Pasha again...some of the vets I remember and some I don't.
I'm not completely sure how I feel about this new method yet. It seems sorta unfair....If you have a newbie dancing along side of Twitch, I'll probably spend most of my time watching Twitch. I get the mentoring or helping part as I'm sure the vets have some great advice but I'm feeling like it the vets will overshadow the newbies.

Are they trying to make it like Dancing with the Stars but it's Dancing with the newbies? I just don't understand the point other than to change it up a bit.

But still, some really great routines last night...didn't hardly FF at all.

I think they are doing it this way to build more excitement. For some people it was getting kind of stale. I haven't watched last nights show but finally caught up on the one before where they were visiting each contestant. I don't know why they didn't pick the Daryl Hanna blond or the contemporary dancer that pulled his hamstring. I thought for sure those 2 should have made it.

Lexilani, to answer your question about Primetime spoilers. You can post about the show as soon as it's over with or even during it. It's up to the member to decide whether or not to click on the topic and read about it. I'm always a day behind so if I don't want to be spoiled I just don't look in the thread. For Primetime spoilers about shows that haven't aired just use the SPOILER tags. ;) I hope that explains things.

yeah, thanks gate :) I've been reading some posts on some other sites about the show- so far most are wondering if the vet is going to take the attention off the newbie----although everyone is glad to be seeing the dancers.

Nigel says the main reason is that previously there were a number of contestants being perhaps unfairly helped or hindered by the strength of their partners... rather than make everybody switch every week, the pair-them-with-a-randomly-chosen All-Star plan came about...

I think I'll like it. Yeah, a shame to be limited to 10 (or 11) new people, but a 20 always had a couple obvious early-outs, and I don't think we'll have that this time around... plus, I do LIKE seeing the veterans again...

Agree about enjoying seeing the vets again. All the newbies seem pretty solid so it'll be interesting to see if they can hold their own (they did last night ) throughout the season. Shaping up to be fun to watch at least.

Thanks for the info Dax. I guess if the new dancer is really good he/she won't get lost in the shadow of the vet.

I know! I felt SOOO bad for the dancer with the hurt hamstring when they came to his house (was it Mia?) just to tell him he didn't make it. He was amazing! The problem is that there just weren't enough spots with the allstars coming back. That's the one thing I didn't like about it, so many great dancers and not nearly enough spots. That blonde guy with the big, white teeth didn't make it either and he was really good, too. That was just too sad watching the judges come to their houses only to stomp on their dreams. :( Hopefully, they will all try out next season and most likely make it.

Another thing I don't agree with when the judges take into consideration the age and figuring that they can come back next year to try out. That doesn't work with me because not everyone can quit a job, be healthy/trained enough, etc. to be able to come back year after year. It just irked me when I heard that. I also would like to know why those who didn't make it didn't make it!

Regardless of those who didn't make it I am excited about this year and hopefully I'll be able to keep up with this season and watch it consistently. ;)

With Anthony who was hurt, the age limit isn't 30 on SYTYCDance, so he would still be eligible next year. I do want him to come back. With the younger dancers, I don't mind them sometimes waiting to let them on the show as I don't want a cast of all teenagers except for one or two older ones. It was like how they treated the ballerina girl who was 29 as this ancient thing...ARGH.

cheryl - I agree there were a lot of good dancers trying out this year. It seemed to me though that there weren't many of the rap/poppers/break- dancing people this year...unless they didn't show them all. I kinda thought it was rude that the people Nigel was turning down got a telephone call yet the other judges told theirs in person. Like he didn't feel it was worth his time.

gate wonder if it's like american idol...simon seems to try to pick people he thinks will appeal to the tv viewer....maybe some of the dancer while really good...the judges might not have thought they would be good for the viewers. cuz there didn't seem to be much of a difference between the ones picked and the ones turned down.

Last week's non-competition Thursday show was fantastic throughout.

This week's Top 11 was good... I did NOT recognize Melinda as Zoe from ATWT, but I did fast through that entire storyline, I think... loved that Alexie was judged by Adam as a little kid on Star Search in '91... wow, that Alex/Allison number was praised so much I wondered if it was about breast cancer or something... funny that Twitch had the window prop, so reminiscent of that 'door' number from his year... lots of good music - Oh Yeah, Lady Marmalade, Hallelujah, the piece from Cirque's Saltimbanco, and the highlight was probably the Addicted To Love cover... the judges were pretty critical of Adechicke being stiff, but I hardly noticed, my eyes glued to Kathryn...

Bummed that Alexie went home - I had a thing for her...

Adam Shankman was kinda hot when he was younger. Who knew?!?

The dancing was good.......I'm still trying to adjust to the new format. My fave is still Kent from Wopaneta. I think he's absolutely adorable. Jose is right up there with him.

Wow, that contemporary dance with Alex Wong and Allison was super-duper amazing.

Love stories like this.

Show lately - lots of good stuff. Big shame about the last couple injury-outs...

It is ridiculous with the injuries this season. I am bummed that Lauren is now the only female contestant. I think Stacy Tookey is owed a lot of thanks.

The week that Alex got injured, Fox wasn't working for me so I only got to see the first 40 or so minutes of the show. It was very disappointing.
