>> I was REALLY scared they were going to kill him off since he isn't a regular.

But in Season 2, he IS.

KMI, you'll love Deadwood.

>> Olyphant is really much better in it than this, because the material is so much better.

Tiny disagree... I think more and more of Olyphant every week - think it's fair to say that he's gotten BETTER in the years in between... and while both sorta kinda fall under the 'Western' genre, comparing Deadwood and Justified is... they're not the same animal. Apples and space aliens - to say 'apples and oranges' doesn't even begin to cover it, you know?

Deadwood is high art, with the most poetic profanity you'll ever hear spoken.

Justified is great pulpy fun.

There's no need to knock one because it isn't the other.

>> I love Raylan, but Boyd is all-kids-of-amazing.

Did you watch The Shield, by any chance? Because that's 88 episodes of Goggins you need to put real high on your viewing list, if you haven't...

Fun - Justified finale directed by Adam Arkin (big bad Zobelle in the second season of Sons of Anarchy...).

Nope, didn't watch the Shield either. I have (had) a tendency to avoid shows with realistic violence. I like my violence supernaturally once removed, a la Buffy. But lately (the last decade...when did I get so old that ten years is recent???) so much great drama is cops and such.

Just got done with the finale.....count me in as another who loved it. As I mentioned before I almost gave up the show after the first few eppys, SO glad I didnt! I like shows that surprise me and this one does, not like Nip/Tuck or SOA but its still early in the run so I'm optimistic it will get to that level next season.

I did not know this. That is GREAT news! I wish I had known while I was watching the finale. Seriously, for some reason I was thinking he was going to die and every little thing that happened to him got me all jumpy.

Jbrr--I'm glad you stuck with it. It's a slower paced show......definitely NOTHING like Nip/Tuck.....lol.........but there's something unique about it. And hey.....Timothy O. is damn hot! "I was JUSTIFIED!!!" :P

I mentioned it in the cast post (5th one down) on the first page...

Showrunner Graham Yost says he hasn't decided yet if Johnny and Bo will survive their shootings in the finale...

I have to agree Timothy O is pretty damn hot. Though I find him much hotter when hes opposite Winona rather than Ava, something about her bugs me.

I was wondering about Johnny and whether he lived or not. Interesting they dont even know yet.

I'd like to keep Johnny. Boyd will be more fun with extra daddy issues and a hate on gio (?).

Well obviously, I missed it or didn't recall. :butkick:

Jbrr--those scenes of Raylan and Winona making love a few eppies ago were HOT!!! Ava gets on my nerves, always playing the dumb blonde card. Raylan is wayyyy too good for the likes of her! (Although I'm sure that Dax and my hubby appreciate her charms immensely.)

I hope Johnny is still alive for next season, too. Can't wait.....13 eppies of this show is just not enough!

Well, late to the game here, I just watched the last 2 and have to say they were excellent. The show did build, and I loved the ending for sure.

Big agree, if you love Goggins, rent the Shield. it was a great series with the lead man Vic, one you hate to love and Goggins was his right hand man.

Forgot, love the term poetic profanity Dax, and you were right on with that!

So Boyd gets killed off next season? How did you hear this? Damn I hope not too early in the season!

Two things...

Boyd was supposed to be killed off early, but wasn't. I don't think anyone in the thread has said otherwise....did I miss something?

Also, could we use spoiler boxes for any spoilery news of the upcoming season? Including cast changes? Thanks.

Right, Krystal misread something there...

Cheryl watched the finale afraid for Boyd's life, since he wasn't a regular... I said 'but in Season 2, he will be', which has been known since shortly after the airing of the pilot (though another news cycle later re-announced it as if it were brand new news). Cheryl had missed that mentioned that way back when (and right, KMI, that probably could have/should have been in a spoiler box, but... well, it's a little late to go back now, and is it THAT surprising that a Season 1 main character should be upgraded in Season 2? I mean, he was pretty much only NOT 'regular' as far as the credits and contract go, but in every other way...). I have no idea where Krystal got the idea that Boyd would die in Season 2 (he might, but there's no reason to expect that now...).

I've finished reading the Leonard stories featuring Raylan, the novels Pronto and Riding The Rap, and the short story Fire in the Hole. They were very fun reads. A few differences - Leonard's Raylan is a decade or so older, he and Winona had had a couple of kids, Raylan's father was dead from black lung and never a 'bad guy'... but reading the dialogue, it definitely feels like the same guy. (Show runner) Graham Yost and his writers are doing a great job aping the style.

The Tommy Bucks shooting ('24 hours to get out of town'...) is the climax of the first book, and not the impetus that gets Raylan on 'punishment' duty back home in Kentucky... 'Fire in the Hole', though, is a pretty direct lift... many nearly identical scenes and lines... except Boyd does die in the end (as he did in an early edit of the pilot).

Right...*Upgrading* a cast member to regular status...no huhu. But losing a cast member...I'd prefer not to know that ahead of time!

Just got caught up myself and thought it was great, but must admit it would hurt not to have WG as a regular, Raylan needs Boyd!! Got to give a lot of credit to the casting director of the show they really picked the right actors to fit in so well in just the first season.

A little off topic here but has anyone seen the movie with Timothy Olyphant and Jen Garner? I ran across it the other morning while flipping channels and for the life of me cant remember the title. The movie was kinda blah but hes so hot I'd watch it again lol. I missed the beginning but her fiance/hubby dies and she ends up with Olyphants character. Anybody know what its called? (I know I could probably google it but thought someone here might know).

Thats it, Thanks Dax!

Its a typical chick flick and pretty predictable but its not terrible. I like Garner and Olyphant enough to make up for the lack of excitement. I cant stand noisy eaters and Kevin Smith seems to be endlessly smacking his lips through most of it but beyond that I enjoyed it.

I'm a huge Jennifer Garner fan (LOVED Alias) so I watched Catch and Release quite a while ago. I agree that the movie was just okay but Timothy O. was definitely hot and I thought they had great chemistry.

There was a movie where he was the villian, maybe two. I don't like romantic comedy even if I like the actors playing in it.

Go (1999), highly recommended by me...
Live Free or Die Hard (2007), I didn't like it, but he's fun as the bad guy...
The Girl Next Door (2004), surprisingly good teen movie... Olyphant's the Joey-Pants-in-Risky-Business equivalent...

Hitman (2007), haven't seen it, and I think he's the protagonist, but also 'bad'...
