I'm still watching but it's a little uneven for me. The first 2 or 3 were great, then there were a couple in the middle that were just so-so. And then I loved last night's eppy when we finally got to meet his dad.......what a character. I have decided that the episodes that focus on his old friends and family are the best. When they have some strange "criminal of the week", it loses my interest. There's a wealth of riches with all the nutball people in that town and his lunatic relatives.....they need to just keep the focus on THEM!

Yeah I'm finding it uneven too. I'm still sticking with it but it definately loses me at times. Last night was pretty good though.

Caught up now. I'm not finding it uneven at all- I love it a lot. Three shows out of the first five involved bad guys Raylan knew (they can't ALL be familiar to him EVERY week)... and I enjoyed the stories/characters/performances/great dialogue in the other two quite a bit, so the 'criminal of the week' aspect of it hasn't bothered me. Yeah, I'm more partial to serial storytelling than standalone short stories, too, but... I think there's a fine balance here so far. Character arcs are developing... meeting Arlo lived up to the teases. And now we're given a looming threat in Bo Crowder...

First Deadwood co-star pop-in with #5... Brent Sexton is playing the sheriff in Harlan, and he was Harry Manning, Seth Bullock's competition in Deadwood's third season...

Don't get me wrong......I'm really not complaining. I just like the shows with his friends/family much better than the ones without. But I really, REALLY dig this show!

You're right about the looming threat with Bo Crowder. That man looks scary! I assume that's Boyd's daddy? Oh boy.

Sounds scary... we haven't seen him yet...

>> I assume that's Boyd's daddy?

Yeah. The one we just met (Johnny) is a cousin, and warned that Bo might be coming for Ava...

#6 was another good one. Love Tony Hale (Buster Bluth) as the painting scammer... loved Robert Picardo's character's last scene, showing Raylan his Hitler collection...

We were talking about Boyd's Daddy comin' into the picture... it's next week. He'll be played by M.C. Gainey (Tom/'Mr. Friendly' on Lost, and the naked guy from Sideways... which makes me think - hey, kinda weird that we haven't seen Tom in the flash-sideways...). I think that's great casting.

(That'll also be Lost people in two eps in a row, with Brett Cullen in this one...)

Yeah this last one was a lot of fun. So many good moments. My laugh-out-loud moment was when the AUSA (?) investigator explained, in such a friendly manner, that it was Raylan he was investigating, not the art stuff.

I love how it seems like I've known the characters for years, yet I want to know more...and how the production seems to like to linger in scenes and little moments. Like with Raylan and Winona on the porch...

I just love Raylan...

The bit about Winona wanting him to check on some people... she was checking up on new hubby's associates? Which led to Raylan's warning, right?

Raylan and Winona have amazing chemistry.....the porch scene was sizzling.....I loved it too. Okay, I love all of their scenes.

Umm.....yeah! That man is one tall, sexy drink of water. :wub1:

This was my favorite episode yet. I LOVE Boyd Crowder.....give us more! The reveal at the end where we discovered the real reason that dude was collecting the Hitler paintings......good stuff!

Yes! Winona's dorky new hubby appears to be up to no good. And Raylan is keeping it a secret from her. Hmmmm........ Can't wait to find out what he's up to.

Loving this show more every week.

I like it and the characters are very easy to get to know. I just have to quit comparing it to Deadwood. I was peddling away at gym today later than usual and Bonnie Hunt (who I never watch) had Tim O on. He was very charming, did not seem to be an asshole or full of himself. The women in the audience were going nuts for him.

That is awesome news!

Krystal--good to know someone as goodlooking as Timothy O. isn't all full of himself and an asshole. Is that Southern accent for real or it it put on? I have actually never seen the man in a single interview. Guess I should go check him out on Youtube!

I don't think it's authentic, but I've heard him use it before...

No, he has no accent. He seemed almost embarrassed by all of the attention.

If she loves Olyphant, rent Deadwood. He is even better in it and the cast is way better.

Yeah. I found one interview on YouTube (he must not do very many because there weren't too many to choose from) and there was no accent. He could have fooled me. His Southern accent is spot on. I love his drawl!

#8 was really good. Boyd's out. That didn't take long...

Third person from Deadwood... W. Earl Brown (Dan Dority) as the hostage-taker.

Second person from Lost... Fredric Lehne (Kate's Marshall Mars) as the Lexington SWAT guy.

I really enjoyed the last one as well. Cant wait to see whats going on with the ex and her new hubby. It was definately a slow build but its starting to move along quite well now.

The mostly stand-alone story aspects of the early episodes didn't bother me at all... a lot of my favorite serialized shows more or less started the same way (including two that were on FX, Nip/Tuck and The Shield...).

I'm really loving the show.

Fell three behind... just watched #9, 'Hatless' with Gary and his money troubles... fabulous. Love it. Olyphant's Raylan is so incredibly cool, even when he's getting his ass kicked

It was a Jere Burns double-bill for me since the show I watched just before it was last night's Breaking Bad... he was a great psycho here.

Yes, and when he gets his hat back....

This continues to be wonderful. Boyd Crowder is especially silvery gray...

#10, 'The Hammer'... beautiful guest spot by Stephen Root, another Deadwood reunion (Sean Bridgers/Johnny Burns as the judge's stalker), another great Waylan/Boyd scene, and Boyd (accidentally) takes another life...

#11, 'Veterans'.

Okay. All caught up. Love it.

(I'm behind on Treme... two more coming of Justified, Glee, and Breaking Bad... I've still got to see the last two of Fringe...)

For any of you who loved this show, rent Deadwood. Olyphant is really much better in it than this, becausethe material is so much better. I still like this one but can't hold a candle.

Deadwood is on my list. (which keeps growing....)

I love Raylan, but Boyd is all-kids-of-amazing..... Loved his final comment to Raylan - Raylan, I'm going to bet my life on you being the only friend I have left in this world. And then raylan pretending to shoot as the car pulls out...

The body count was horrific...and getting a little too comic booky.... Once again I'm liking the characters moreso than the plotting. I keep imagining them in different stories than the ones actually playing out...

We just watched the finale today. I'm with you on Boyd.......he's awesome. I was REALLY scared they were going to kill him off since he isn't a regular. Whew! Raylan and Boyd together are fabulous.
