Well, since we've been talking about this in the Big Brother thread, I figured it was high time it got its own home. But first off I just have to say, Woo-hoo Jeff and Jordan coming in first place in the premiere!!!

KMI from the BB thread:

Quote:

Jeff seems to be comfortable as a traveler and good on Jordan for doing so well in the road block. Barring bad luck (which I think plays way too much of a factor in AR) I think they will do well.

While there are some things I do like about AR, especially the locations, the premiere reminded me of all the reasons I stopped watching:

-the bad-luck factor mentioned above, especially the way so-called "advantages" earned turn out to fizzle (really obnoxious bad-luck)

-there have been so many instances where a team dominated in the game itself and then ended up with no real advantage - the most annoying being when a team gets an earlier flight, only to arrive at a destination to find either a road block designed to neutralize the time advantage or they find they must wait until morning or a certain hour to do the next activity, again allowing the rest of the players to catch up.

-the editing in general is just all too often ridiculously confusing. Part of it is, I'm sure, the attempt to inject drama by making it seem like certain events are closer in time than others. Which reminds me of survivor editing trick I should mention in that thread.....

I agree about Jeff seeming comfortable traveling. Poor Jordan is totally out of her element there. "We need a ticket for China!" LOLOL!!! I love these two and hope they stick around so they get more air time. It's so hard at the beginning when there are so many contestants.

KMI--all of your reasons you stopped watching this show--Ditto. The editing always comes into play just like Survivor but somehow Survivor is just sooooo much more interesting and entertaining. I may quit watching TAR if and when J&J are eliminated. But it sure was fun seeing them again.

OMG, how funny that they got that former Miss South Carolina who sounded like such an idiot a few years ago answering that question about maps. Pretty girl but still doesn't seem all that smart to me......like she thinks she is.

The two goofy cowboy brothers were a hoot. I can't imagine them lasting too long.

Are the two brothers (the one gay, the other straight) twins? I can't tell them apart.

I'm in for now......GO J&J!!!

WOO-HOO! Go Jeff and Jordan! I haven't watched this show since the early seasons (I quit shortly after Charla and Mirna got booted from season 5), so it was fun to check it out again. I'll stick around to root for J&J. Those two have some kind of comedic timing, I tell ya!

Too funny when the father/daughter team painted the interior of that house! LMAO!

I agree those advantages that fizzle can be most frustrating. Just like life itself!

I'm guessing the brothers aren't twins, as they would likely "brand" them as such....and such as.

Did I mention how much I loved the shenanigans of Charla and Mirna from season 5? Here's a funny clip...

I'm watching as long as Jeff and Jordan are on, and maybe longer, if I'm 'hooked' by that point... some cute girls... the dummy pageant girl (on a race around the world, maybe she'll get to GO to the country of SuchAs) and I like the granddaughter...

I love TAR and have watched every season since the beginning although last season was a bit of a bore! I am rooting for J & J and hope they make it to the final 3. I also like the grandmother and granddaughter pair. I was kinda disappointed in the first team that got eliminated. I guess his fears got the best of him. I really don't like when a team can't complete a task. It is frustrating to watch and I know it has to be even harder for the team competing.

Im rooting for Jeff/Jordo as well :) I like the lesbians. They are funny :) The cowboys....well....my bf of almost 4 years grew up with these guys. He is excited to watch them but gosh they seem almost as dumb as Miss SC!!!LOL
Something that caught me off gaurd was when the team that got eliminated flagged down the cab and said something like "Oh a black person!! Ask them!!" I was like WFT? It's like people asking me for advice on how to decorate just because I'm gay. Oh, and most of my "gay genes" didn't come out :)
Still though...I like the show so far :)

I am totally rooting for Jeff and Jordan too. It feels like it was some funky editing that had Jordan asking for a ticket to China and not Chile though.

Anyway, Motzart, lets hear more about your bf and the cowboys!!!!

As the seasons have gone on they have gotten away from having the time issues with roadblocks. It may only happen once or twice in a season (those hours of operation) unlike in the past where it seemed to happen every other episode.

Hahaha! So true about the cowboys. Good heavens, they are goofy. They seem really sweet, though. Mozart--what does your bf say about them? Did he like them and were they "good" guys? I would be excited too if someone I knew was on this show. I like the lesbians, too.

I didn't hear that part. Maybe white people wouldn't talk to them when they were asking for directions and that's why they got excited to see a black person. You never know.

Isn't it funny how many people seem to be watching the show just to see J&J? I would much rather them be on Survivor, though. I can just imagine Jeff shirtless the entire time, getting all emaciated and hot as time goes by.....oh my! :woot:

Good to know the time issue isn't still a major factor. Thanks Bloss.

Jordon would never survive survivor. :P

Jordan on Survivor. Oh no....

Sometimes people do get screwed still with time if they are in a remote place, and there is only a flight or two that go out of the airport each day. Then the bunching I can more easily accept, as there is no way the TAR producers can fix that.

Hey Scor! Jeff(my BF) only has good things to say about the cowboys. Jeff grew up in Madill Oklahoma and moved out here a little over 4 years ago and he doesn't like it out here :( . I have a feeling that he is going to move home after our lease is up. Needless to say; our relationship is on da rocks.

He says that the cowboys have gotten better looking over the years. He loves to watch em bull-riding and he says they are really good guys. I guess they are out of their element being on TV LOL. Whats even funnier is did you watch last years "Tool Academy"? His best friend was on that show.....she was dumb as a bunch of rocks!!LOL Her name was Jaquline(prob spelled that wrong). She was raised to marry and have babies. She doesn't have to worry about money because her family is loaded and will take care of her. MUST BE NICE!!LOL

Anyways....GO JEFF AND JORDON!!! I wish I knew who wins. I wonder if I can get Jeff to squeeze it out of the boys without getting them in trouble? Worth a shot I guess :)

I don't know.....I think that girl is tougher than you realize. I'll never forget how she was cool as a cucumber in that last challenge on BB. She was under a lot of mental pressure and handled it beautifully. And as you know, in Survivor the mental toughness is usually more difficult than the physical stuff.

OMG, Mozart........you have the BEST stories!!! I love hearing about the cowboys and the dumb broad on Tool Academy! :lmfao:

In the midst of the Olympic excitement, I forgot to watch last week.

Those cowboys are handsome AND funny. If I had to root for anyone other than J&J, it would be the cowboys. Pleased they held onto 1st place.

That horse power/horse sense challenge really put the pressure on some of the teams. I was getting worried about J&J!

The lesbians are crazy! So much bitching and whining. But I like that they realize their bickering could be their undoing.

Not a big fan of the models but congrats to them for staying in the race after having to go to the hospital.

I liked the attorney moms. A little sad to see then go.

LOVE the cowboys, especially this week. They are a force to be reckoned with. I can't wait until more people are kicked off so we can see more Jeff and Jordan. The lesbians are irritating. I can't stand people that fight and bicker incessantly.

I love the cowboys too. I was worried about them in the first leg, but they seem to have found their groove quickly. Curious to see how they do a little further outside their comfort zone. J&J are cute as ever. I LOLed when Jeff told her last night they shouldnt have kids. I cant stand the lesbians or the brothers, both annoy the heck outta me. The father daughter are doing better than I thought they would as well. Pretty good season so far.

TOO FUNNY!!! LOL The lesbians are very irritating! One of my best friends is a beautiful lesbian cop. I made the mistake of going out with them late at night to some clubs. All they did was bitch and moan. I got left in her truck all night because she was out fighting with her gf. ARG!!!! LOL Needless to say; if I do go out with them again I will def have my own ride! LOL I can't say much about the gay guy friends I have either. Most of the time there is ALWAYS drama. I think I am going to become A-sexual. The girls I used to date were crazy and the guys have been cheaters. Maybe I just have a CRAZY magnet on my forehead? LOL
I did laugh when they were playing the polo game last night. One of the girls told her gf "Just pretend it's my face". My first thought was in the gutter!!! I still love watching Jeff and Jordo. The cowboys are cute :)

Love the cowboys....love their comments, especially how they seem a little disgusted with their competitors' lack of civility.... I too am irritated with the lesbians. I'm starting to know some of the other teams and like most of 'em.

Jordan was cute with Phil. I am spoiler-free, but based on the editing, I predict they will go far. Reality editors like to front-load stories with soon-to-be-evicted players, since their time is up soon. The fact that we've seen so LITTLE of Jeff and Jor suggests we will see much MORE of them later.

Well, that is good to know. I hope you are right!

Every time the cowboys say "My gravy!", I crack up. They are so endearing.

Hey Cheryl :) It does seem I have a crazy life doesn't it! I should write a book or something ;)
I hope J&J stick around for a while. The only teams I am rooting for are the Cowboys , J&J, and the crazy model pair :)

OH-MY! That was close! I was crossing my fingers and toes that this wasn't going to be an elimination round. So hope J&J can hang on for a few more weeks!

The cowboys drinking beer was funny. As was the boy model puking his up outside. I was happy for the guys who had been wanting a beer and finally got one.

The lesbians seem the type to act FAB-U-LOUS to people's faces but they're big crybabies behind the scenes. That said, I'm developing a bit of a soft spot for the dark-haired lesbian.

Who are those detectives? And where did they come from?

OK. I had to spoil myself and read a recap online. Thank God Jeff and Jordon are safe! That was close! My bf cracked up when I told him that the cowboys said they have never drank before. Apparently they LIED! HAHA Jeff(my bf) has drank with them. Anyhoo....time for me to go watch it!

I was thinking it was more of them being funny. Like, "We've never had a beer before!" Wink, wink! From their tone, I wondered if maybe they drink every night.

I've been spoiled about how J&J do so I knew they were safe tonight. I wish I didnt because it took some of the fun out of watching but it was still a good eppy. This season has been quite entertaining so far. I'm really liking the father/daughter more and more along with the cowboys and J&J.

I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying this season. I think last night was staged. I bet had it been another couple to arrive last they would have been gone. I guess the producers know that Jeff and Jordon bring in more ratings. I'm kinda anxious to see how the other teams are gonna react when they realize noone was eliminated. :)

Lots of people agree with you, but...

AR and lots of other reality shows are under "game show" rules if there are prizes and so must adhere to scrupulously fair rules, such as describing all elements of the show before the competition begins. That means the AR producers should have documented which legs of the race were non-elimination beforehand. (Not that I don't think they always do everything *by the book.*)

Survivor, for example, has a game format that lists all challenges, when and if merges and twists take place, etc. so that game events can't be said to favor one person or tribe....This means they can't, at the last minute, stick a balancing challenge at the end in order help someone who's good at balancing get to the finals.....

WOW! That was CRAZY! I was so sure J&J were out of the game. They certainly didn't seem to be playing their best.

I can't say that I was a fan of Joe, but Joe and Heidi were troopers through that Morse Code challenge. Didn't even notice them fighting through it. Worked well as a team. I thought it kinda sucked that they got eliminated because of the U-Turn.

How many times are lesbians going to vow to work together to only have another nervous breakdown? My soft spot for the dark-haired lesbian has gone bye-bye.

That war challenge was SOMETHING ELSE!

A bit surprised the models were the only ones we got to see in the preview for next week.

I know. From the looks of the last couple of weeks, I fear our fave couple is not long for the show.

I never cared for him all that much, thought he was a little cocky. But he showed tremendous patience and control (of his anger at the two cops for U-turning them) in that challenge. I LOVE that they didn't fight.

Thank goodness.....OMG, I wish THEY would have gotten the U-turn. Although they probably would have killed each other.

Still loving the cowboys. If J&J leave, they will be my only reason to remain watching.
