I'd rather have Ellen next to Simon. I wonder why they changed that from Hollywood. |

You made a wise decision, Lexilou! Dax--I also like Lee Dewyze although he wasn't all that impressive this week. I think (hoping!) he has potential. |

This is the most boring crop I've ever seen. Only Katie has any star quality, IMO. Aaron would probably do OK too. Casey James will probably win the whole thing. The upside is, I really don't care who gets it this year. It's exceedingly dull so far, IMO. |

So what do people like better the round of 24 style or the 36 round version? I was hoping a girl would win, since the last time it happened was Jordin, but now I don't know if it will happen. |

When did they have 36? Good Lord, if they had 12 more of these no-talents on this show, I would just beg someone to shoot me and put me out of my misery. :violent: |

The round of 36 was when they has the groups of 12 and each group sang only once and the highest vote getters got to go on to the big stage. They did a variation of that last season, and it was the style they had in the early years. Then they started with the top 24 style (with the show on three times a week). The other style only had two episodes a week. |

I'm not seeing anyone that rocks my world this season but it's early. I may just wait until they get to the top 10 and check back in. I can't take any more of the 2 hour shows and then an hour of who is getting booted off. I'm also sick of all the sob stories. I'm not sure what that has to do with singing and I would like to see one contestant that has a profile of perfect happiness. |

Good to know I'm not the only one sick of the sob stories....ENOUGH! I watch to be entertained not depressed. I also agree this crop is super boring, its cementing my feeling that this will be my last season of Idol. |

You know, after watching tonight's super-duper dull eppy, I was thinking of quitting but maybe I'll try that route. Seriously, this is getting extremely painful. My ears are still bleeding! Dancing With The Stars just came out with a killer cast this season and there's no way I can watch both. Hmmm.......decisions, decisions....... |

Bummed with a couple of the departures tonight (Lily and Alex... even Katelyn because she's so cute). Really thought Paige and Katie would/should go, after the other night... Oh, well. There are a few in the Top 12 that I really can't see going very far... Scott McIntyre sounded really terrible on Tell Her About It. |

Eh, I'm okay with those going home. DH will be happy Lily went, he didn't like her. I have no feeling either way, but those feather earrings were driving me nuts! What do you all think about the song Aaron Kelly sang? Was it "too old" for him? |

This seasons hasn't done much for me yet. I know it's still early but I'm not overly excited about much of it. I agree with Dax. I really thought Paige and Katie should have gone tonight. Oh well. I didn't vote so I can't complain. I do like Crystal, Didi & Siobhan but the rest are just eh. I'm not really caught up with the guys. Once again none of them have done much for me. |

My money is on Siobhan. Crystal is good, but I think she is a one trick pony. The men are all just inconsistent. |

There are a couple of girls I think are really unique. I love Lacey's look and her unusual voice, Siabhan is one of my faves as well. But Crystal B. is head and shoulders above the rest, IMO. I haven't seen a bad performance yet from her and I love her quiet confidence. |

Yep unless Crystal stumbles or someone else comes out of nowhere at the end, its hers to lose. |

I think its still Crystals to lose, but Siobhan is stepping forward and at least giving it her best shot. Shes a hard one to figure out, I still dont get a sense of who she is as an artist or a person but shes interesting. Not crazy about any of the boys Lee and Michael are okay but the rest can go imo. I think this could be Paiges swan song tonight. |

Crystal is awesome. I like her a lot. The show has been pretty boring, and there may be more people I dislike than like, which is unusual... and yet nobody I dislike with any PASSION (like in some past years)... many of them don't outright SUCK, but they're definitely not exciting... |

I'm still in Siobhan's corner. I think Crystal better drop the guitar and show some versatility quick. |

I have the exact opposite opinion. (Not about Crystal, I think she's amazing, too.) I mean about none of them outright sucking. I could count on one hand the ones that have talent--Crystal, Siobhan, Didi, Aaron, and Big Mike. To me, the rest of them SUCK bad. As J.D. would say on Howard, "the most boring-est season ever". :violent: |

Ditto everything you said Cheryl. I think most of them suck except the 5 you mentioned. I just don't think I can put my poor dogs through another week of the others because it hurts their poor little ears. :P |

I liked Crystal (as always) and Lance? Lee? whatever his name is. Also, love the song Aaron sang, but I thought he could have done better. I love the smiling kid, even though he's not great, he's got a good vibe. (I am so bad with names - sorry.) What was the story with Didi and the song? My kids were yapping too loud and I didn't hear it. Next week bedtime will be at 8! |

Ryan never really got Didi to spill the story. She just kept saying the song touched her. It got quite awkward toward the end of Ryans prying. It was pretty clear she didnt want to discuss it and he kept pushing. From the little bits of info we got I'm guessing an ex boyfriend that wanted her to try out broke up with her after she made it on the show. Just a guess though. Pretty underwhelmed tonight a few good ones and alot of meh...I do have to agree on smiley boy, hes not great but I like that he just doesnt care what the judges say. Liked Simons reaction to it too. ETA: Ok I found this on Did, dont know if its the real story but it makes sense.... American Idol contestant Didi Benami was criticized by the judges for being dramatic when she sang "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted?" on Tuesday night's show. And she was clearly emotional after performing the song for guest mentor Usher. So, why did this seemingly random song mean so much to Didi? Ryan Seacrest hinted that Didi sang the song as a tribute to her best friend Rebecca, who passed away before Didi tried out for Idol. Rebecca's passing inspired Didi to try out for the show, which is why Ryan remarked "[Didi] auditioned for the show for a reason" when Didi didn't offer up the details herself. The lyrics of "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" include, " What becomes of the broken hearted, who have love that's now departed. I know I've got to find some kind of peace of mind. Maybe." If Didi did sing the song for Rebecca, we can see why the performance stirred up so much emotion for the grieving singer. http://realitytv.about.com/b/2010/03/30/why-did-didi-benami-sing-what-becomes-of-the-brokenhearted.htm?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Edited by jbrr1212, Mar 30 2010, 11:56 PM.

Yes they talked about Rebecca earlier in the season. If the judges paid attention to the show they would have known about Didi's loss and how Rebecca was also involved in music. I enjoy how Tim takes everything in stride..there is no way that Simon's mind will be changed so just go out there and have a good time. |

LOL.....smiley kid.....I like that. He's not the greatest but there's something so sweet and pure about him. I'm still seriously underwhelmed with the whole lot of them except for Crystal. I want to quit watching but this dang AI is like a freaking drug.....it keeps pulling me back in! Siobhan is SOOOOOO pretty....she has a great look. I was happy that Lee (yes, I think that's his name.....I can't remember names this season either because the performances are mostly forgettable)......anyway, was thrilled for him when Simon gave him that awesome compliment. There is something very likable about that guy, he just doesn't exude much confidence......doesn't seem like a *star*. |

I only watched this show once, ever, and thought it was God awful. I hate Cowel and Abdul looked like a bad drug trip. Now I see Ellen has come on board and this is interesting as the NY Times just had a huge article saying she saved the show but it seems no one here likes her that much. Has she grown on you guys? I doubt I tune in anyhow but interesting in hearing the responses here. |

That's interesting that someone from NYT would say that because of a lot of people it seems the opposite. Paula while granted isn't the most "normal" behaving person, seemed to the only one who cared for the kids. Ryan's becoming more of a jerk IMO, and trying to be like Simon. Why? Siobhan goes from good to bad, perhaps it is her lack of experience. Crystal is consistent. Casey needs to switch things up, Lee seemed a bit better. Simon said this was year of the girl, well it looks like soon only 2 will be left. |
