It's funny, I never fully appreciated John Schneider until they killed him off. That's great news! Now what about Lex and/or Daddy Lex??? :club:

The episode where Jonathon was killed off was so heartbreaking :( I am super excited that he will be back for a few episodes.
I just know that Lex and Lionel will return. I'm getting so exited for the final season.

Ya think??? Unfortunately, I just don't see it happening. But if it did, I would be the happiest camper in the world.

Hey Cheryl ! :) I'm really hoping they make it back. I thought I read somewhere that M R (Lex) would only return to the show if they knew it was going to be there series finale. I have my fingers crossed that they pull this off ;)
Now, as much as I love K K ( Lana) I really don't want to see her again.
Not much longer to wait! :)

mozartkc....have you been watching the new episodes? It was so nice to see Papa Kent but I hope that isn't the end of him showing up.

When did the new season begin? I totally forgot all about it and my dvr obviously hasn't been picking it up. Is Daddy Kent being shown in flashbacks or what? I didn't truly appreciate him until he was killed off. :(

Schneider was in some symbolic vision thing rather than a flashback. I'm actually interested in seeing how they work the mythos to the point that it connects to the previous Superman mythos (or not). Clark is always in *disguise* so he won't reveal his secret identity, will he? The show is so silly, but poses some interesting questions along the way regarding heroes and such.

Thanks, KMI. Smallville is rather like a rollercoaster. Lots of highs and lows. It started out really silly, then gradually turned into a damn good show, and now seems to be sliding off the abyss. Or it was at least to me (last season). I haven't watched any of this season yet, hopefully that rollercoaster is headed back up!

My take is that when they deal with the Krypton stuff it sux. Much better when focused on good ole local villains...

I'm glad he finally ditched that black costume. This weeks episode looks to be a good one! I miss Chloe. I also want Lex!

I concur! The Krypton stuff makes my eyes start to glaze over and my attention start to wander.

What's up with Chloe? Don't tell me she left the show, too. Sigh. And it goes without saying that I WANT LEX, TOO!!!

Hey Cheryl, Oliver was bring held captive by Death Squad (i think). Chloe then put on Dr Fate's helmet and found where he was. She somehow arranged a swap. Now Oliver is free and they have Chloe. She is not a series regular now but I think we will see her again. Fridays show will have Clark meeting his future self. I hope we get to see Superman !

Oh I don't know Mozart...that black outfit sure made him look hot...i asked hubby if i could get him one and he said yeah...I'm sure I'll look just like him...him at 63 lol
But I am enjoying it more so far than I did last year. I miss Lex and was hoping I'd see at least one clone that looked like him. Sheez I can't remember her name right now...but the woman who had the burned face...she took the child clone home with her right? That should be interesting.

KMI and Cheryl...I agree the parts with his people...boring and hope it's over for good. I had stopped watching last year, I think I watched until the epi that had his mother back...still had them on the DVR but then we upgraded to HD and there went everything I had saved. So I didn't realize that chloe and oliver had a thing...I hope we do see her again. She's such a beautiful girl and a good little actress.

I'm glad his father will be back never did like when they killed him off.

Yes he is a hottie :) This has always been such a pretty show :) Tonight brainiac (sp) is back and gives Clark a look into the future and the past. Wonder if we will see Clark flying around in his "true" outfit for the future and maybe daddy Kent for the past.

WHAT? Did you say Brainiac is back? Does that mean James Marsters is back? Oh my! I hope so because I definitely recorded it.

yep! Cheryl...it was a good show too.....had a lot of "awl sweet" moments. I wish when this show is over Tom W. would do a grown up version of Superman series. I'm just not done looking at him yet lol

There was a big push for him to play Superman in the Routh movie, but studio heads are stll scared of casting a TV star in a movie.

Love me Mr. Marsters but he's looked better. The lighting for the *time effects* was weird and unflattering. And I had to giggle every time we saw Welling and Marsters in a scene together. He's 5'8 or so and Welling is 6'3" and it was so clear they were staging things to keep them close in height.

When did superman begin to fly? I know I've missed an episode here and there, but I would have tuned in or taped that milestone.....

Yeah I watched it.

Smallville has always been cheesy and veered wildly in quality. Things got worse after Michael Rosenbaum left and Alison Mack's role was reduced.

The Finale Bad
The plot was essentially a talky mishmash of their own very hackneyed exploration of whether Clark could just become Superman by choosing the role. Welling is just a little too old to be finally stepping up to the plate. The villains of the piece were underwhelming to the point of being absurd. A million plot holes, a thousand failed opportunities to resonate with their own mythos, a terrible attempt to try to tie the show more closely into the comic universe, and some pretty bad writing overall.

Probably the very worst thing, I suppose in an effort to make sure their (resurrected) Lex dovetailed with SU Lex, was to mindwipe the character....which destroyed what many said was one of the very best things about Smallville: a well developed origin story with a complex villain who had lots of shades of gray and many redeeming qualities.

Also, major bad for Welling's refusal to wear the suit for more than a few seconds. The teeny tiny CGI Superman would have been better off being skipped entirely.

The Good
-Returning characters, esp. MR, AM, John Schnieder, Annette O'Toole, John Glover
-Chloe isn't killed off; she and Oliver have a kid (never mind Canary)
-Martha rips Clark a new one for selling the farm
-CLex banter
-The flashbacks
-John Williams' music

All in all, not nearly as bad as it could have been, and better than I thought it would be.

I quit recording the show this season because it had gotten so hokey I was almost making myself watch it. On Friday, I was listening to Geektime on the Stern Show and the boys were going on and on about it being Smallville's finale and Lex being back. I was shocked and ran right home and set my dvr!

So we just finished it tonight. VERY cheesy, OMG. It was almost like watching a two hour video montage. I DID enjoy Daddy Lex until I realized how creepy he was and Lex wasn't even really Lex. So disappointing. And Clark now has a receding hairline. OMG! It WAS great to see Mom and Dad Kent, I swear John Schneider just gets better looking with age. And I WAS excited when I first saw Lex, it's been so long!!!

It ended just as cheesy and silly as it began. With some really, REALLY good stuff mixed in the middle -

Absolutely. It probably should have ended when that villain left the show. But hey, Smallville will always hold a special place in my heart.

I recorded it, but often deleted it without watching the last couple seasons unless I read some decent buzz or Michael Shanks was guesting.

And this is telling - despite missing at least 25% of the eps, there was no sense of confusion as it was ALWAYS confusing....lol
