Great episode last night!

Loved Tyson getting booted off due to his stupidity.

I'm on Team Rob but I loved how Russell is playing true to is character.

James and company cracked me up with the banana etiquette. Who knew there was a banana etiquette. Posted Image

Colby has been a huge disappointment and I loved James 'superman sucking' statements.

So what ever happened to Jerry & Coach and the love connection thing. I haven't heard anything about it in a while.

I love Amanda so much I'd have sex with her on live television. My parents could watch, it'd be fine, wouldn't deter me a bit...

Yeah I get that because I would feel the same way if Johnny Depp was on the show or Sawyer from Lost.

Somebody mentioned a Jerri/Colby 'break-up' (for game purposes) scene... was it a web extra, or something The Probst blogged about...? I don't know, but I got the idea it was squashed before it could draw any more attention to them...

Colby's 'quit' speech reminded me of his choosing that dummy Tina in his season, essentially giving her the game, when he'd have easily won taking the other guy...

Banana etiquette talk was very funny.

I was reminded tonight of why I liked James in the first place. The "banana etiquette" conversation was hysterical. I'll miss him.

Loved it when James said, "But if your ass is hungry, you go get a banana!" Oddly enough, I enjoyed James in this episode. He seemed more laid back than he had been. Now he's gone.

Amanda looked like she was going to cry through that entire tribal council. If there was any doubt who was going home, Amanda pretty much gave it away.

It was a pretty great episode. I dont think it was the "best tribal ever" like they were promoting it but it was pretty damn good. Robs face was priceless! Tysons such a dummy lol. So much good gamplay, cant wait to see the discussions when they get back to camp after that. I will miss James' comments but its ok with me that he went. Colby is sucking but I met him once and he was very sweet so I'm still rooting for him.

I LOVE the way Rob and Russell are playing off of each other. Still think that if they would have gotten together they would have ruled the game, but they're both way too cocky. The only reason so many people are with Rob is because they've seen him play. I agree Rob's face was awesome!!! As for the scenes for next week, I think Rob is just ticked because someone is playing the game as well as he did. They are making for awesome tv and I love to root for them both.

Question, does anyone else think Sandra totally and obviously threw the challenge last night? This why I can't stand her, she would be an awesome player because she talks so big at tribal council but with votes it's always, "as long as it's not me I'll vote for whoever."

Hubby and I were talking last night about who the greatest players of Survivor are and I'm curious what every one on here thinks. Doesn't matter if you like them or hate them, but who has played the game in an awesome way. I started watching season 3 so I'm not sure about people before then (do they have the seasons on DVD?). I think rob and Russel are 2 of the best. Their gameplay is just phenomenal. I can't remember a play like that last night with Russel ever working because nobody thinks things through like those 2 and then nobody is brave enough to actually do what they want to do.

Any thoughts?

Games on dvd - 1 & 2 (so yes, if you started with 3, the ones you need to fill in the blanks ARE available...), and 7 through 10.

Best players... oh, I don't know... so much of it is luck, and the mix of who you played with (strong alliances, stupid people, bad luck - your tribe keeps losing...).

Yes, I think Sandra threw the challenge. But I thought it was relatively smart of her. She wasn't going to win and didn't need to win, so why bust her ass on that rough and tumble challenge? If she sticks with Boston Rob, I think she could go far. But I doubt she'll contribute much more than her snappy comments at tribal....which I like!

Nahhh......I don't really think Sandra threw the challenge. I just think that physically she sucks at most challenges, especially that one and once she got all tangled up, she realized it was a lost cause and gave up.

Well, I've watched every single one.....wow.......I guess even though I HATED the fact that he won, I would have to say Richard Hatch. Back then (the very first one), I didn't care about game play, I just knew that I couldn't stand the a-hole and was pissed when he won. I would definitely put MY Ozzy up there as one of the all time greats. Physically, he was unbelievable and unstoppable, especially in his first season. He was still good in the Fans vs. Faves season but he had gotten a little soft. His downfall was that his social game play was lacking. And yes, I totally agree that Boston Rob and Russell are up there too.

BTW, count me in as TBR (Team Boston Rob!!!)

Spoiler: click to toggle

*Yeah, Coach and Jerri's *breakup* was a webisode a looong while back. My info says Coach couldn't keep his sensible-cool after those initial days.....he and Tyson are boneheads and
Spoiler: click to toggle

*Tyson's ouster was even more complicated than we saw. The editors (supposedly) had a helluva time fitting all the plotting and drama into a storyline simple enough to follow, especially since it was already pre-ordained that BOTH tribes would be at TC. If tptb could have focused exclusively on the villains that episode it would have been awesome.

edited because I realized some comments could be interpreted as (very minor) spoilers.

Defining the *best players ever* is subjective because part of it depends on...

*what style of strategizing you like. Many HATED Vecepia's win in S4 (Rob's 1st season) as she mastered the stealth UTR strategy. If you like big, bold aggressive play (like Probst) then you will favor certain players and winners. If you like *quiet* plotters, then you like (and miss) Todd and Stephen *The Wizard*, who was a big big reason JT won his season.

*if you like *big* characters even though they aren't much in the strategizing, such as Rupert. I'd class Sue Hawk of S1 like that.

*if you prefer masters of the social gameplay, such as

*if you like immunity threats such as Ozzie.

Very few are triple threats...some would argue JT could be classified as such. There are a few others.

************************************************
A lot of the best players ever really are on this season, imo. That said, some who I think could have been chosen...

Richard Hatch - they wanted him though.

Brian Heidick - they're so glad they brushed by his winning S5 without major repercussions from his porno career they don't even invite him to parties......

Jenna Morasca - Illness again keeps her home, this time Ethan's...

Ken Huang - who couldn't keep Sugar under control.

Matthew Von Elfrida - Lost to Jenna. Powerhouse *survivor* and immy threat with no social awareness. Speculation during his season was that he had Aspergers. I'd love to see what he learned from his loss to Jenna.

Todd Herzog - Not sure why he wasn't considered. Too quiet of a personality???

Earle Cole - <My memories are fading>....ultimate in leadership and social gameplay.

Rob Cestercino - Russell with class, and a bit less athletic....

Elisabeth Hasslebeck was asked I think and likes to pretend she was never on Survivor. I was surprised she did a bit for the promo doc.

Jonathan Penner - Another plotter....

Others>>>Yauman...Yul.....Chris....Kathy.....Rafe....Lexx... (Would have LOVED to see lexx, on the Heroes tribe - not that he was *heroic* - but the opportunity for him and B-Rob to ineract would have been great. They're bitter enemies in real life now, supposedly.)

(Might have spelled some names wrong...)

Who to cut? Some players have the same game, and can never seem to adapt. Several players were chosen to set up possible alliances/backstabs. I'd not have chosen Candace, Courtney, Sugar, Randy, Amanda (sorry Dax), Coach, Tyson, James...maybe not even Rupert.....

IMO, some of the best players and *big* characters are fun to watch but will never have a chance to win, due to their personalities or having one single weakness that keeps them out of the winner's circle.

Have you read Tyson's exit interview, KMI?
Tyson

My getting voted off is only fitting though. The only person strong and smart enough to take out the smartest and strongest person in 'Survivor' history did. I took myself out.

Tyson

I thought they were going to have more physical players who could compete with me. Guys with speed and balance like Eric from 'Fans and Favorites' and maybe Ozzy. It would have been fun to go up against them and show who was better.

Are these his attempts at humor?

WTF, Tyson? He's so full of himself, saying he wasn't blindsided just because he switched his vote in the last few seconds. He was still voted out! Big dummy! I did have to laugh at his Jerri comment when they asked him this:
Quote:

Was there any player you'd hoped would be there that wasn't?
I was a little disappointed to see a lot of the "threepeats" there. I was stoked to see Rob, but not to see Rupert and James . I'm a fan of the game players -- the guys who are out there to win the game at all costs. I've seen Jerri whine on TV for two seasons and to watch her do it in person wasn't a thrill for me.

:lmfao: :lmfao:

Awww.....Stephen. I loved that guy. Loved reading his blog. And I didn't know he was dating Courtney either!

Tyson comes across on TV as this self-involved narcissistic type - but he's a fave of so many players outside of the game I am guessing the self-deprecating facet gets lost in translation...or the editing, once again is narrowly focused on typecasting him in a certain light.

Actually, when I watched the Ponderosa episodes during his season, he was the first to get kicked off and I thought he was a hoot. I liked him ten thousand times better in those little clips than I ever did on the show. They didn't show much of him this time around.

I liked Tyson, but then this was the only time I've seen him and right now I am not happy with him! I liked James also, but again, the only time I've seen him. Colby is kinda disappointing me and I wish James had not gotten hurt so Colby would have gone home. Don't really care too much one way or the other for the girls, cept Jerri and Parvarti - don't like either one. At this point, I'm not focusing on who I want to win, I just want Rob to outlast Russell! I agree that it's the most interesting part and I'll probably be sad when it's done (especially if that snake sends Rob home somehow)!

Coach!!! :wtf: That asswipe doesn't have a lick of freaking sense!

Am sooooo bummed that Rob is gone. He was such fun and also nice eye candy. Damn that Russell! :violent:

I was thrilled for Colby redeeming himself in the challenges. LOL.....I thought Rupert and Russell were gonna kill each other in the water challenge. That was fun!

Worst vote EVER!!!!! :mad1: I can't believe those fools sold their souls to Russell. And I didn't think I could dislike Coach anymore than I already did.

What do I have to root for now that Rob vs. Russell is over? I can't think of anyone I'd like to see make it to the end.

Me either, no villian anyway. I think I'm going to root for JT (?) now unless he hooks up with Russell after the merge, then I'm done.

I don't think Russell is getting the favorable edit he got last time (and people STILL disliked him). It's kinda sorta being edited now as the *Why Folks Hate Russell* show.

Coach's vote is even worse when you know more about the scenarios discussed. He pretty much knew his vote was essential for Rob to force a tie and he bleated about how voting for Courtney wasn't really a vote against Rob, thus his honor was upheld. Jerk.

They also left out some (supposed) conversations about why Jerri swung over to Russell. She still held a grudge against Rob for her boot in All-Stars season 8. There's spoilerhood debate as to the veracity of this info - but even if NOT true it had to have played into her reasoning.)>>>>>Back in the original All-Stars it was Jerri who paid the price when Rob had his whispered conference with Lex and convinced Lex to save Amber - who went on to win. (Background: Lex and Rob were on opposing tribes but had a pregame alliance. Rob was falling in love with Amber. A tribe mix-up: grab a new buff out of the jar. But in an amazing bit of against-all-odds, only Amber chose a new buff color and switched tribes. Rob promised Lex that if Lex saved Amber, he would help Lex later in the game. Lex engineered Jerri's boot instead of Amber. Rob booted Lex soon after the merge.)

As per pregame alliances - Jeff has several times tried to get people to admit to them, especially those across tribes. For instance, it was *known* that JT and Tyson had one, a major reason he went home. A lot of the reason people are trusting Russell is that they haven't seen him play and they know (or think) he can't have a pregame alliance.....

Rob's mistake was in not managing the vote bettwe when Randy went home. It was essential then to get out one of Russell-Parvati-Danni and he didn't work the vote hard enough. Maybe should have targetted Danni?

I blame part of this for inviting Courtney at all.

Loved Rob's line to Coach - "You are a little man." I predict Rob will be more mad at Coach than Russell

Thanks for all the extra scoop, KMI! :ty: It does help to make a little more sense out of things. I can even see why some are gravitating towards Russell, if they're thinking he's least likely to have an alliance.

I, too, loved Rob's, "You're a little man," to Coach, especially with the way Coach went on about being loyal and wanting to go to the end with Rob. Now I can root for Coach to go, at least.

I don't blame Courtney per se, so much as the casting decision to include her and then the sexist editing that gives her no story. Courtney is a very interesting character, and if you watch the Insider clips she has tons of commentary and she's rather witty. But given the *All-Star* nature of the casting and the expected focus on tough challenges (since MB and Jeffster are sexist-verging-on-misogynist) ---- and the casting of COACH, another one who wants a sausagefest at the end, it meant she had even less chance at forming strong bonds, and would be an easy target.

I would love to see stuff relating to Courtney but the editing is so clearly favoring a certain style of play it was dumb to cast her in that mix --- except as cannon fodder. Plus, she really didn't bring a lot to the table her own season except her eye-rolling commentary, and we're being cheated of all that to tell the *Russell is sooooo villainously cool* story.

Personally, I think they should have replaced Courtney with Cerie on the villain tribe....a strong strategist who could have provided numerous villainous interactions to counteract the weight of focus on Russell. Then replace cerie on the Heroes tribe with some other heroic woman...would have been so cool to see Amber on that tribe. (maybe too hokey...) But there are several good candidates who could have kept up with the Heroes.

Not wanting to speak for KMI, but I don't know why they invited Courtney to return and I think this is what KMI is saying. She is extremely weak and has proved so in numerous challenges. She ALWAYS sets out a challenge if the opportunity is there because she knows she can't hack it. She is very tiny and doesn't have any body strength to do the physical parts of the challenges. I didn't like her the first time and I sure don't like her now. She's just sailing along not doing anything. I don't like Sandra either but at least she does things around camp and tries at the challenges.

WTF is wrong with that stupid Villains tribe??? I cannot believe they didn't vote Courtney out after losing two more challenges. Idiots! And Russell has gotten so full of himself that he's almost unbearable to watch. HE is the one they should have blindsided if they were going do something ridiculously stupid like vote off yet another strong competitor.......not Coach!!!

Idiots!

Whoda thunk we'd be defending Coach and wishing he'd not been booted????

Can I just say that, if what the promo is suggesting really happens....(I'm not spoiled for some events)...then JT is not only a hero-turned-villain, but an idiot to boot. Stephen is looking more and more like the mastermind of his past win.

I couldn't be happier that they booted that stupid Coach! Thought for sure it was going to be Courtney, and since Courtney and Sandra are the only ones I like on the Villians tribe I'm going to do a little dance! :happydance:

Surprised that both Danielle and Parvati voted to boot Coach, which could indicate Russell isn't as powerful as he thinks he is.

I missed the first half of the show. What made them think there was going to be a merge? And was there any indication of when there would be a merge?
