Drea De Matteo joining the cast, as a series regular.
Wonder if she'll still be available to Sons of Anarchy at all, or if she'll be written out of there more permanently...

I wonder whether I'll be still watching. I skipped through most of the season and I don't feel like wanting to catch up.

Drea De Matteo joining the cast, as a series regular.
Wonder if she'll still be available to Sons of Anarchy at all, or if she'll be written out of there more permanently... Wasn't she the one on the show Joey?? I didn't like her then and I do not think I will like her on DH either. I guess they have to add her to take the place of Edie. I just want to see who Mike married!

She was on Joey, yes. But she's best known for The Sopranos.
Gonna be a new family of Italians; there will be a husband and son with her.

Desperate Housewives is currently on hiatus. The series is set to end after 7 seasons but still has to be picked up every year by the network. ABC confirmed that the show would return next year for a sixth season.
Episode 6.01: What Wedding, What Way (Season premiere) Airdate: September 27, 2009
* new 08/16 - This season's mystery will kick off in the premiere when a pivotal female character gets strangled. Source: The Ausiello Files * 07/24 - [Both Teri Hatcher and Dana Delany were spotted on the set wearing wedding dresses.] Could there be a double wedding in the works on Desperate Housewives, wherein Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer marries one guy and Dana Delany as Katherine Mayfair marries another? Or are the producers just playing with us? Source: Kristin on E!Online * 07/12 - A young woman (Julie or Carlos' niece maybe?) is at the Vitale's house to help Dominic with his homework. Once they are done, Dominic asks the young lady to the movies but the latter refuses as she feels uncomfortable with the situation. Dominic tries to convince her by saying they are friends. She's saved by the bell when Nick orders Dominic to take the trash out. While Dominic is out, the young woman tells Nick that she just came out of a relationship that didn't end well which is why she didn't want to go to the movies with Dominic. Nick seems quite understanding and even tells the young woman that she is way out of his son's league. From the looks of it, it seems that the Vitale family moved around a lot and a some bad luck too. Nick firmly believes that their luck will change because he gets a good vibe from Wisteria Lane and thinks that people don't butt into each other's lives... if he only knew! Lynette goes to the obstetrician's office. While waiting, she shares parenting/couple tips and tricks with a young pregnant woman. Source: SpoilerFix.com * 07/10 - Sources tell me September's Desperate Housewives premiere is set to feature a Susan Mayer wedding... or the preparations for one at least (who knows if she'll actually go through with the "I do"s). Now, this doesn't necessarily mean that Susan wasn't the lady Mike married in the season finale. As every Desperate fan knows, the show is no stranger to flashbacks, divorces or second chances. Source: Zap2It's Korbi TV * 07/10 - Peggy: Mid 20s, a fresh-faced very pregnant woman in her 20's, she idealistic and blissful about having her first baby... until she meets a woman who tells her all the headaches of being a parent. John: Peggy's helpful husband in his mid 20's. Sales Lady: In her 40's, this woman in a Bed Bath and Beyond-type store helps a couple with sheets. Delivery Man: This UPS-type man in his 30's - 40's has a delivery for a neighbor. Nick Vitale: A handsome New York-Italian man in his 40's, Nick is a landscape designer. His energy is contained and internal. Series regular (with a minimum of 15 episodes). Dominic Vitale: Nick's sexy, intense New York-Italian 19 year old son. He's a good kid at heart, but is tightly wound. Series regular. Source: SpoilerTV * 07/10 - Emmy-winning Sopranos heroine Drea de Matteo is joining the cast as Wisteria Lane's newest vixenish housewife, sources confirm to me exclusively. De Matteo, who will be a series regular, will play the matriarch of a new Italian family. Source: The Ausiello Files * 07/10 - Based on the arrival script for [Drea] de Matteo's character, she's for certain a fish out of water, having traded the noise and grime of New York City for a serene picket-fenced life on Wisteria Lane. De Matteo's on-screen family has yet to be cast, but it appears that the son will attempt to strike a spark with one of the neighborhood girls. (Perhaps Gaby's freshly introduced bad-girl niece?) The husband, meanwhile, seems likeable enough - if a bit, um, flirty. Source: TV Guide Online * 07/10 - Drea de Matteo's new housewife, Angie, who is moving into Desperate Housewives next season, now has a husband and son. Playing hubby Nick will be Jeffrey Nordling, who most recently was seen dying on 24 as FBI agent Larry Moss. Stepping in as son Dominic, will be 20-year-old Beau Mirchoff, who played Ben on the short-lived cable series, Heartland. Source: TV Guide Magazine
Episode 6.02: Rock On Airdate: October 4, 2009
* 08/02 - One Orson is apparently not enough for Desperate Housewives. Kyle Maclachlan is a permanent fixture on Wisteria Lane as Bree's klepto hubby, Orson Hodge. But now, the series is adding veteran actor Orson Bean, 81, in the recurring role of Roy. He will be Karen McCluskey's new (and equally curmudgeonly) boyfriend, filling the void left in Mrs. M's life by the deaths of her only two friends, Ida Greenberg and Edie Britt. Creator Marc Cherry tells me we can expect Roy to "stick around for awhile," until of course he dies and McCluskey sticks him in her basement freezer! Source: TV Guide Magazine * 07/31 - Two police officers drop by one of the houses to question a young female character about her whereabouts last night around eleven o'clock. The young lady admits that she was in bed, as her mother confirms, but that she went out when a male friend called her. So she snuck out of the house. The mother is pissed off that her daughter disobeyed her rules. The young lady claims that she and the boy hung at the park down the street. A female character is brought to the hospital unconscious. The doctor wants to run more tests, such as a CT scan. A lady that came with the ill character tells the doctor that they can run that test because the ill woman may be pregnant. The female injured character ends up in a coma and has intracranial swelling. She came out of her coma for about 15 seconds. Two characters, a male and a female, are afraid that she will remember what she saw during those few seconds of consciousness. When Eddie is introduced, he chats with one of the Housewives (most likely Lynette) about school, the fact that he traveled to Paris with his father while on a business trip, that he may study International Relations in college because of this one girl he met in Paris , etc. Source: SpoilerFix.com [Note: It wouldn't surprise me that the young lady is Carlos' niece, that the "mother" is Gabby and that the young man is new character Eddie. It's possible that the Eddie with "Lynette" scene doesn't air or airs in episode 6.03.] * 07/24 - Eddie: An 18-19 year old interesting, somewhat off-beat, neighborhood guy. Eddie is very charming and likeable, but may not be all that he seems on the surface. Recurring guest star throughout season 6. [...] Dr. Hill: An authoritative ER doctor in his 40s - 50s. He takes extra precaution with his patient by running additional tests. Possible Recurring. Detective: A detective in his 30s - 50, he interviews neighbors about a case. Possible Recurring. Two officers: Two uniformed police officers in their late 20s - late 30s, they investigate suspicious behavior in the neighborhood. Source: SpoilerTV * 07/10 - Roy Handler: A crusty Caucasian man in his 70s. Recurring guest star. Source: SpoilerTV
Episode 6.03: Title Unknown Airdate: October 11, 2009
* 07/24 - Jesse Metcalfe is actually coming back to Wisteria Lane. Though the season one Desperate Housewives star supposedly filmed scenes for the show this spring and was rumored to be returning, May's finale flew by with nary a mention of Gaby's old gardener-boy. But ABC now confirms that Metcalfe will reprise his role as John Rowland in the third and fourth episodes of the upcoming DH year. We last saw John during season four, married to a rich, daddy's girl. Housewives creator Marc Cherry says the character is now divorced and doing well. Well enough to catch the eye of Carlos' teenage niece, Ana? Cherry told TV Guide this week, "When Ana finds out that Gabrielle had an affair with John, she sets her sights on him, which upsets Gabrielle." Source: Zap2It's Korbi TV
Episode 6.04: Title Unknown Airdate: October 18, 2009
* 08/09 - Richard: A groom in his mid 20's, he is in the middle his wedding vows when all Hell breaks out in the background. Annie: Richard's bride-to-be in her mid-20's, she sorts through a wide variety of cakes before finding the perfect one. Later, she is at the wedding as it becomes chaotic. Professor: A college professor in his 50's, he is interrupted in the middle of his lecture by a woman that storms in to his classroom. Ralph: 40's - 60, Ralph owns a dry cleaner and returns some items found in his customer's clothing. Minister: A male minister in his 40's - 50's, he weds Richard and Annie. Source: SpoilerTV
General Spoilers:
* new 08/16 - As for who's really under the veil, [Dana] Delany said, "Lets just put it this way: Both Susan and Katherine believe that they're the bride. It's not good for their friendship. I'm very happy with my storyline this season because Katherine is getting to be a little snarky again. She's getting her edge back." Source: Kristin on E!Online * new 08/16 - Bree's emotional affair with Karl will take on a new dimension when they start sending dirty text messages to each other. Source: TV Guide Online * 08/09 - Meet the Vitale family, er, make that the Bolen family! Desperate Housewives' newest clan on the block was originally supposed to be Italian. But creator Marc Cherry gave the family an ethnic makeover after casting the blond, blue-eyed Jeffrey Nordling as Bolen patriarch Nick. "We originally were casting Italian actors. Then Jeffrey came in and blew us off our feet," says Cherry, who is likely switching Nick's job from landscaper to "some kind of handyman to connect to Mike's plumbing." With Edie Britt's death, gay neighbor Lee takes over as Wisteria Lane's new real-estate agent and sells Mary Alice's old house to the Bolens after they depart New York City. Cherry says the season premiere finds the Bolens getting "caught up in a disastrous thing" involving Susan's daughter, Julie, "and because of the attention focused on them, they worry that their secret will be exposed. Pretty much everyone in the family is keeping secrets from each other." This could have deadly consequences for the Bolens, played by three actors who each signed for just one season and have had plenty of violent screen time. Jeffrey, 47, bit it last year as 24's FBI agent Larry Moss. Beau Mirchoff, 20, cast as sullen son Danny, tried to outrun aliens in "Scary Movie 4." And Drea de Matteo, 37, who'll be playing abrasive housewife Angie, was famously shot in the woods as The Sopranos' Adriana. "I die everywhere I go," Drea says. "I wouldn't hold my new character too dear, because on this show, people get killed." Jeffrey adds, "Hopefully there's no bullets flying around Wisteria Lane!" Though still in the dark about Angie's secret past, Drea would love to see a Sopranos shocker, with Angie turning out to be Adriana, who was memorably shot off screen and long-rumored to have secretly entered the Witness Protection Program. "That would be a really funny joke that Desperate Housewives could definitely get away with," she says. "Who knows?" Being the new housewife on Wisteria Lane, Drea already knows her character is not meant to fit in and will likely clash with many of them. "I would see her getting along with Susan, and going after people like Bree, Gaby and Katherine," says Drea. Unlike her Sopranos character, Adrianna, Angie is not into fashion. "She's a little more on the Bohemian side. She's a pretty liberal Gypsyesque sort of girl. The only similarity to Adrianna is the heavy Brooklyn accent." The first scene Drea shot was with all the other Housewives, which she found a bit intimidating. [...] Relative newcomer Beau grew up playing football, lacrosse and guitar in Victoria, B.C. He describes his college student Danny as "a little sullen and very peculiar - not like normal 19-year-old kids. He had to leave everything he was doing in New York, so now he's kind of lost. He's got some issues he's dealing with but those won't be discovered until a little later as the series goes on." His romantic options seem to be Julie or Gaby's niece, Ana. "There's definitely a couple options out there," says a tickled Beau, who is single in real life. Source: TV Guide Magazine * 07/10 - Wisteria Lane is welcoming back one of its own this fall: Original Desperate Housewives star Andrea Bowen has signed on to reprise her role as Susan's eldest spawn, Julie. Although ABC would only confirm that Bowen is set to appear in the Sept. 27 season premiere, a Housewives insider tells me that the actress is returning as a series regular. Bowen vanished from Housewives at the end of season 4, a casualty of the show's four-year flash forward. She briefly returned last season when Julie, on break from college, announced that she was dating her 40-year-old professor Lloyd (Steven Weber). It's not clear if he'll be accompanying her back home, but I'm guessing not. [... Kyle MacLachlan will] remain a series regular. [...] Source: The Ausiello Files * 06/21 - A source close to the Desperate Housewives set tells us neither Teri Hatcher nor Dana Delany were actually at the altar, just to make sure no one would be able to spill the season-five cliffhanger. However, the source did spill a juicy tidbit that may be a clue as to who the new happy couple is: Following the car accident in the season finale, where Susan and Mike embraced, the script read, "The family is reunited." Could that point to Susan being under the veil? Source: Kristin on E!Online * 06/21 - One of the biggest laughs in the Desperate Housewives season finale was when Felicity Huffman's Lynette, who was worried sick her cancer had returned, learned she was pregnant with twins! "Are you sure it's not cancer?" she asked her doctor. [...] Lynette will absolutely be pregnant when the series returns for Season 6. And abortion will not be an option. "I could never do that," [Marc] Cherry says. "The network would never let me." But he adds, "On TV you can always have a miscarriage." (Lynette had better stay away from staircases for the next few months.) Felicity finds her character's new story line amusing. "The Scavos aren't stopping until we can field an entire softball team," jokes the actress, who's now referring to Lynette as the "old lady on Wisteria Lane who had so many children her uterus fell out." Source: TV Guide Magazine * 11/20/2008 - The creator of Desperate Housewives already knows what the last scene of the series will be. Marc Cherry says it'll feature just one of the housewives. [...] He does say that after this season's time-change, he won't be doing any more fast-forwarding. Cherry is thinking up ideas for the sixth season next year and hopes the seventh season will be the last. Source: KYPost * 03/27/2008 - It seems that [Marc] Cherry has decided to take a page from the Lost playbook and set Housewives' expiration date well in advance. He plans to pull the plug after three more seasons, once the series' standard seven-year contract runs out in 2011. Source: Entertainment Weekly * 02/21/2007 - Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry has inked a four-year, eight-figure pact with ABC Television Studio (né Touchstone), Variety reports. The agreement keeps Cherry lording over Wisteria Lane through May 2011, at which time he anticipates wrapping up the story of Bree, Lynette et al. (ABC has also quietly negotiated deals with key cast members through '11.) "After seven seasons, it will be a good time to call it quits," Cherry tells the trade mag. "I don't want anyone else to run the show, and I don't want us to fade away." Source: TV Guide Online * 02/13/2005 - Strong is contracted to be both heard and seen throughout the series' anticipated seven-year run. Source: USA Today

So. Now we know who the bride was.
There's an interesting article about WHY http://spoilertv.blogspot.com/2009/09/housewives-exclusive-find-out-why-mike.html
I'm glad. What I love most about the article is that Cherry himself admits that you can write well for a married couple and he's committed to do so. A refreshing approach. I hate when writers make excuses and say that once you marry a couple there's nothing else what to do with them. Lazy writers.
Gabby - I like the whole plot with Gabby and Anna and that surprises me a lot. I like it when Gabby has something good to do, losing her baby was a really good SL, so was all the adoption process. Eva can shine given the chance.
Bree - she used to be my favourite, but they're ruining the character together with Orson. Not liking it now and not watching it.
Lynette - I don't think another pregnancy is a good idea, but Felicity rocks whatever the SL is, hence I'll give it a shot. As long as she's with Tom and they are sure thing, I manage.
Susan - great to see Julie again. I hope she'll stay. Not so sure about the whole Katherine thing, we had this with Edie. When Katherine first came, I didn't like her and didn't care for her. They paired her with Bree and I did enjoy her as a character. Not anymore. DD deserves better than to be a vindictive bitch, though she sure has fun filming it. I don't think it's a good move as I doubt the fans cared about Katherine and Mike. It came out of nowhere and it was stupid.
Edie - I miss her. I really do.
The new family - don't care too much about them, but I don't remember a new family on DH I cared about.
Final verdict - I think I'll stick around for some time to see what's going on with Gabby and Lynette.
PS: I FFed through some parts, I admit.

YAY for Susan being the bride. I love her with Mike. :couple:
Never have liked Catherine, although Delaney plays her well. Last night I almost got a chill when she told Susan it wasn't enough.
Agree that they're taking Bree in the wrong direction. Don't like her with Susan's ex at all, although I did laugh at her changing the sheets and cleaning the hotel room before she would meet with him.
Gabi is shining right now, being the mom to that teenage brat. I wish she could make Carlos understand how important it is to straighten that girl out and show her that someone cares.
I was so afraid Julie was dead.
Lynette's scene with the expectant mom was a scream. I was ROFL the whole time she was recounting all the problems with kids, and about how all women lie. She voiced something I've thought for years. :rotf:
Does anybody else think the new mom in town resembles a young Portia di Rossi? Looks like she's going to be a bitch on wheels.

I think Carlos will get it very soon.
Drea also reminds me of Portia and someone else I cannot recall now.

Sometimes Drea looks like Madonna to me. I am slow to warm to new characters but I think they will be a good addition.
I have never cared for Catherine. Susan had a bunch of work done during the hiatus, her eyes are too tight.

Lots I liked about the premiere. I agree with the praise and pans above. As Mani said, the BEST was Lynette's scene with the expectant mom. :fall:
I'd like to see more with the gay couple. I like them.
I never like the new family either. They're cannon fodder so it's hard to bond.

Yep, Lynette with that young woman was a scream. i know this is a soap but one wonders why Lynette would not have had her tubes tied or have hubby get snipped if she was that fertile. i wonder if she'll lose the kids then go into a huge depression. Also this pregnancy is about as unlikely as Reva's considerting lynette had chemo too.

I liked it.
Lynette - Yeah, loved the moment with the happy girl in reception, and the confession to Tom that she didn't love the babies yet... powerful and perfectly played.
I like Katherine as the scorned woman, and think it's good that they went this way with it - Mike/Susan now, instead of later, and this is a fine thing for them to do with Delany...
Gabi - Yeah, I like the premise here. Last year, they got a lot out of 'What if she had daughters that were so much UNlike her?' Now, it's a troublesome niece that is a 19 year-old HER... it's fun. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/rant.aspx?id=20090925_desperatehousewives
Bree/Karl, and Orson... The sheets-shopping scene was fun. Interested to see where it goes...
New people - Don't know much yet, obviously. I like all the actors. My first assumption is that it's more likely that Nick (father) just attacked Julie in the closing than that Danny (the kid) did...
Julie looks really hot.

Sometimes Drea looks like Madonna to me. I am slow to warm to new characters but I think they will be a good addition.
I'm a huge Madonna fine so I never really realized that Drea does resemble her! Good call!

The older couple is a hoot. Good to see Orson Bean again.
Glad Julie will be OK. I was shocked to hear that she thought she was pregnant. I don't remember that scene from last week. Did I miss it? Or was it cut?
Good for Gabi getting to the truth about Anna and Danny. That new family is no good.
I wanted to smack Katherine when she tried to kiss Mike. If Susan had walked in on them I would have thrown something at the TV! Do you think Katherine's going to hook up with Orson?

Neither; we didn't see that Julie/Lynette scene, but I don't think we were supposed to have... it was new information here...
Katherine/Orson - maybe. Whenever two people that haven't shared many scenes together before START having scenes together...

I think that Katherine's goal is Mike, so with Orson, it may be just a pact to help each other. Honestly, I don't care. I think this SL is stupid. She and Mike were not a real deal. They accidentally hooked up and it wasn't a great love or anything. This SL would make much more sense if Mike married Katherine and Susan going ballistic. They were married once, share a son, memories, there's a real history. There's nothing between Mike and Katherine to reminiscence about. DD needs a better storyline.

Yes, I could never see Katherine and Mike together. I don't know about orson, he is wierd enough to be compatible with her. I don't care for Bree and Susan's ex either.

I have NOT seen spoilers but I'm predicting the new family turns out to be good guys. It'll be a fake-out - Mrs. McCluskey's BF will be the strangler.

The strangler didn't look very old man-ish running away. Pretty agile.

I deeply dislike the yearly mystery thing. It has gotten tiresome. I really like Drea DiMatteo (I missed her on The Sopranos), but I hate the premises of the story. They are the same premises, every year. I thought last year was kind of okay. But apart from that their mysteries have always been disappointing.
Mike has always been extra-boring to me, and I notice that they keep giving Lynette all the heavy-emotional-lifting. Hey, she's great, I never get tired of her performances. The writers know she's a powerhouse actress and have given her this type of scenes from day one, as I remember.
Well, we'll see what they have in store for this year. It looks like a typical DH season. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't think it will be worse than the 2nd. Did they air one of their amazing promos this year? I'll have to youtube it.

The strangler didn't look very old man-ish running away. Pretty agile. True. I was sorta being facetious - unless we see a scene of the McCluskey BF being studly strong and jogging thru Wisteria. :P
I do hope it wasn't the new family though. Getting old AND a bit creepy that the *new folks* are always rotten. Starting to seem xenophobic or something.

It is really not on my must see list, and hubby hates it, but I still follow it sporatically. i agree, many of the plot lines are repititious.

I thought the strangler could be Katherine. She's one crazy bitch this year and like the rest of you I never saw her and Mike as a couple.

I totally agree with "the new family is weird and suspicious" scenario being so boring.
I FF through msot of it.
Also, Lynette needs a break. Do you think the twins will make it? I worry she'll have a miscarriage and then she'll feel guilty about it and Tom would hate her. As for mro ekids, I think they do need a new SL, other than being exhausted from raising kids.

I agree about Lynette, she sure does do all of the heavy lifting on this show.
