Kingdoms (Duth) Secranea Kingdom Considered to be one of the highest-classed kingdoms on the planet, the Secranea Kingdom put high effort into artistic endeavors and elegance. The government is highly aristocratic, but they work to keep all citizens enlightened, educated, and satisfied. It does, however, have quite strict control over its citizens. Phoenix Kingdom Considered one of the most aggressive kingdoms on the planet, the Phoenix Kingdom is right next door to the Secranea Kingdom. It is highly militaristic, and before the Federation arrived would often invade other kingdoms, though the invasion tended to ravage the land which made them have to seek out more land. They were never able to invade the Secranea Kingdom, though, but they still try, even now that the Federation is there. (Sub) Whargrade Wharfgrade is a small kingdom north of the Phoenix and Spider Kingdoms. Because of its small size and lack of natural resources, it remains a merchant haven and a center for trade with the Outerlands. Wharfgrade is a conglomerate of different races, though they are predominantly ruled by (shark muppets or something we're not sure yet). The nation is strongly religious, and adopted the Federation’s Church of the Light (while blending it with Atlasian traditions). It seeks to curry favor of the Federation should another war break out between the two kingdoms. Wharfgrade has been invaded by the Phoenix Kingdom and Spider Kingdom several times in the past, until the rise of corporations early in the 1900s when corporations began to take root in the kingdom. Then it became a sort of free trade zone, and neutral ground between the two conflicting kingdoms. Now Wharfgrade is a different sort of battleground, its a bustling city-kingdom where the different major corporations of the planet compete and trade. Beacon holds one of their major planetary offices in this kingdom. The kingdom, while rich and booming, is known for a large lower class and a vast criminal underworld as well as being the planetary center for the black market. History (Duth) As the spiders were evolving on Atlas they already used other creatures to aid them in finding food. Once they had become intelligent they quickly established a kingdom, the Secranea Kingdom. Very few regime lines have shifted since the kingdom rose up, as most spiders held good positions, were treated excellently, and kept in order by the ruling families. The sharls evolved slower, being used mostly as pack animals by the spiders until early genetic experiments gave them a rudimentary intelligence that then evolved further naturally. The chameleons evolved around the time the spiders did, but were brought under the rule of the spiders quickly. Though over history some moved to other places, many remained in the kingdom. The phial evolved in many tribes apart from the spiders; around them other kingdoms sprang up, but these were mostly left alone by the spiders, who had little reason to invade them save occasional taking of wealth and resources. However, as the phial population increased the tribes combined into one that began taking over the smaller kingdoms one-by-one, forming the Phoenix Kingdom. When they owned land equal of that to Secranea Kingdom they tried to take over that, but failed. They would try several more times, but failed each time. They also avoided Wharfgrade, as they were not fond of seafaring; they focused more on building machines capable of flight, and were the first kingdom to, designs later copied and improved on by the Secranea Kingdom. Croggs evolved and were left alone until phials realized they could use them as weapons (by throwing them), and then later actually allied with them by making them the suits. Nothing is known of the Ulu’s history, and as the vultures never had a kingdom there is not much to say about them. AND THEN THE FEDERATION SHOWED UP. (Sub) The first appearance of the Federation on Atlas was in 1912, when the branch of the Galactic Federation’s Starlight Expedition assigned to scout the Spectral Arm Sector arrived in the Iominne System. Upon arriving in orbit of the Atlas, Colonel Isaac Gunther assessed that the Agmos continent was the center of their civilization, and sent a diplomatic party to greet the civilizations that lay therein. The two powers on the planet, the Secranea Kingdom and the Phoenix Kingdom, had recently come out of a particularly brutal conflict, and as such were in the middle of a tenuous peace. The Spiders were the first to meet the Federation, giving them offerings of peace. Using advanced psychic technology the Federation quickly overcame the language barriers, and several humans were sent to the kingdom to help spread Federation Common to the population. The Phials were wary of the Federation, at first seeing them as a threat that needed to be pushed off of the world, and weak for offering peace. However, scouts soon reported that their technology was far beyond anything that of which the Phoenix Kingdom had ever seen, and rumors spread of massive machines from space that could wipe out an entire planet in a single blow. Fearful, or perhaps intrigued by the prospect of gaining such an advantage, the Pheniox Kingdom sent ambassadors to meet with the Federation. Hoping not to upset the balance of power, the Federation established relations with both kingdoms, setting an office in Wharfgrade, which was considered somewhat of a neutral territory. There was talk of gifting weapons to both sides, which Colonel Gunther was at first wary of. However, after Harrav’s trade of weapons with the Federation involved them breaking out into open war with one another, Gunther refused to trade weapons to any faction on Atlas, knowing that the two kingdoms would simply use them against one another. In 1940, the Federation departed Atlas, having quelled the fighting on Harrav and Federation command initiating a callback of all forces from Starlight in order to help develop their own nations better. The Wharfgrade office was maintained as a line to the Federation and a way to keep an eye on the development of the system. The arrival of the Federation lead to a jump in technology, and a brand new universe filled with new planets and galaxies. At first the kingdoms attempted to establish their own space fleets, but this only lead to accusations of space weapons being pointed at one another’s kingdoms. As such, the fleets were assigned to the private sector, Beacon buying up a massive amount of spacecraft from both kingdoms as well as the Federation. As such, Beacon became the primary space transportation and spacecraft production service. Atlas made connections with the two habitable planets of the sector, Animalia and Harrav, and began to trade. With Federation Common being taught to both planets, it became the language of commerce, and soon became the primary language for all three planets. For outbound relations, Atlas had strong ties to the Llylat System, even purchasing some of their advanced fighter schematics and designing their own form of stunt craft. Relations with planets inside the system were divided; the Spiders aligned themselves with Animalia, seeing them as a peaceful and resourceful nation, while the Phoenix Kingdom saw them as weak. On the other hand, Harrav’s warlike and brutal nature was respected by the Phoenix Kingdom, and looked down upon by the Spiders. For the most part, Atlas shied away from the conflicts of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The system was for the most part avoided altogether, save for an incident on Animalia that involved the organization known as the FOEA. The corporations of the world began to expand, with Beacon leading the by buying up various refueling stations and slipspace terminals through the Starlight Galaxy. 2018 – A Year of Colonization After the absorption of Star World and its colonies into the Federation and the destruction of the Kriken Empire, the Federation began to grow into a golden age of expansion, technology, and artistic endeavors. The Federation gave an offer to the planets of the Starlight Galaxy, which stated they could be part of the Federation as colonies and in return for resources take part in the rapid advancements the entire trans-galactic empire had embraced. Atlas and Harrav accepted this offer, with Animalia respectfully refusing. This was one of the first times the Phoenix and Spider Kingdoms came together and made a unanimous decision, with representatives from other minor nations mostly agreeing. Federation ships were sent to Atlas, under the command of Governor Daniel Sendoa. The Governor knew the history of the planet and of the conflict between the two sides, and as such took a portion of land between the two nations to establish the Galactic Federation Planetary Fortress, and the border between the two became known as the Federation DMZ, with the stipulation that neither side could bring any military presence over the border. Neither side objected, openly at the very least, though they began to resent the Federation seeing them as lesser nations as opposed to equals. The advance in technology was good for both nations, with Beacon becoming an ambassador in trade between Atlas and the Federation, as well as mitigating deals with the newly formed Starlight Trigolmerate. However, the population of Atlas began to resent the Federation when an increased military presence was sent to the world after Harrav started to revolt, under the lead of the Axis Revolution. Both sides would occasionally try to provoke the other with small crises, with the attempt to get the other one to take action against their neighbor and incur the wrath of the Federation on them, most of which have been dismissed by Governor Sendoa. While things are tense, they are peaceful. Beacon Established in the 1850s, Beacon Industries was first founded in Wharfgrade by Kravek Shelob, an enterprising Spider who took advantage of the land grab in the Outerlands. Kravek bought up a small fleet of transportation boats, using his fortune obtained from working in banking. As both kingdom’s naval forces were under attack by the other, the rise of a neutral fleet that was safe from attacks by the other side. Using his connections in the banking world, Kravek was able to create enough credentials as to where attacking his fleet could potentially result in the major loss of funding to either kingdom, which was desperately needed as their conflicted in the Outerlands escalated. The business worked miraculously, primarily among the private sector of both continents. With the large amount of natural resources being shipped back to Agmos, Beacon was able to make a massive profit, soon becoming the premier funding of expeditions to Outerlands. They bought up mines and resource filled plots in the new world, which Kravek stated would be an investment for Beacon. Beacon’s cash flow began to decrease as the two nations negotiated a peace, but it still maintained the largest transportation service on the planet. In 1912, the Galactic Federation arrived on Atlas, which changed the planet forever. Beacon knew that soon space travel would be the way of the future and would replace their naval fleet. In a risky move, most of their naval fleet was scrapped down to raw materials, which were traded for Federation technology. By 1940, when the Federation left the planet in force, Beacon had a fleet of 140 Pelican Transports and four Pegasus Carriers. In 1950, the two kingdoms began to form their own space fleets, but neither trusted the other. Accusations of positioning ships in the other’s space and of space weapons pointed at the other’s kingdoms resulted in most of their fleets being dismantled, or sold to Beacon. Beacon held a virtual monopoly on space travel, and established trade with Harrav and Animalia. In 1960 Beacon purchased the rights to Heegios VI, the sixth planet of the system. Here they established a refueling station and a slipspace terminal, which allowed ships unequipped with a full slipspace drive to do small calculated slipspace jumps to other terminals. They founded space stations on the world, giving it a government and economy of its own. While now considered lawless, these stations have become a mixing pot of sorts for the various races going in and out of the system. At this time, Beacon was actually competitive in the economic floor of the Starlight Galaxy. They set up waypoints similar to that of Heegios VI in various hyperspace routes and bought the rights to several uninhabited planets that were on the cusps of hyperspace routes, and gained billions in refueling and restocking ships. With the constant movements and crises of the 1980s through 2010s, Beacon exploded in wealth, organizing shipments for the various conflicts in and out of the Starlight Galaxy. While the Metal Wars destroyed many of their depots, the wealth made from refugees and Federation support to the sector vastly outweighed any loss. Now in 2023, Beacon has established itself as one of the wealthiest corporations in the galaxy. Through their efforts, they were able to establish trade routes with the Federation and Starlight Trigolmerate, being a sort of neutral ground between the two. They are now lead by the mysterious Chameleon known as Mr. Walker, who seems to have bigger plans for his organization’s wealth. |
