Welcome to Brotherhood of Sithis. We hope you enjoy your visit.

You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain aspects of the board and there are some features you cannot use. If you would like to join our Elder Scrolls based community, you must create a character within the lore of the Elder Scrolls and write them a back story. Our story began approximately a year after the Oblivion Crisis, and it ranges all over Tamriel. Each Province is represented and usable. Please take the time to read the back stories of those who are already here before you write yours, so we do not have repeats of ideas. (Great minds, after all, do think alike!)

We now have a section that takes place during and after the events in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This section does not in any way interact with the old one.

Again, you are most welcome here! Once your story is complete, join up and post it! A Speaker will contact you, and you will be able to join a Sanctuary. Or, if you would rather not be a member of the Brotherhood, you can request to play another faction. It is rather flexible and good. If you have any questions, feel free to email Shivani at anonymous_celt@yahoo.com.

Please note that The Elder Scrolls, The Dark Brotherhood, Sithis, and several of the NPCs are all owned by Bethesda Softworks.

My mother has always been a huge fan of Orchids, so I guess I get it from her. I bought my first Orchid about 6 months ago from a reputable grower that specializes in all types of Orchids. The kind I bought is rather common, but he's just so cute. Its a Mini Phalaenopsis, and only stands a couple inches tall. The pictures below are form his first bloom (when I first bought him), and he's currently working on his second. As soon as his flower spike buds, I'll be getting pictures ^.^!

Just yesterday I bought another little orchid, but this time I was saving it from a local supermarket. He's in pretty bad shape, with most of his roots having rotted off. But, I'm hopeful that he'll recover with the right amount of care and attention. This orchid is also a Mini Phalaenopsis, but he's bigger than my first one. His spikes stand about 8" tall

In the last image, you can see all my little plants. My first mini Phalaenopsis, my 4 Saguaro cacti (I've got about 16 more of them at my parents house for lack of space here), and you can barely see my Philodendron vine

Wonderful, Raqel! You have green fingers, it seems! I have grown saguaro before and I love them! I had a huge collection of cactus at one point, but I gave them all away when my babies (human) started to crawl. Small fingers and barbs don't go well together! To be honest, cactus are the only plants that I can grow in the house. I kill all others - good Listener , eh? Outdoor plants, I can work wonders with, but not house plants!

I've never had much of a green thumb... I've had that Saguaro for probably 10-12 years, but because I didn't know how to take care of it, its really stunted! Poor thing. I fixed that a couple weeks ago, though. Having 20+ cacti growing in a small container is a bad idea! :D The fact that they're still alive is a miracle in and of itself. Especially since my mother put them outside once during a cold snap >.< Ah well. I'm hoping at least the four I've got with me will survive. They've got a better chance than my new orchid, but I'm hopeful that it will survive as well!

It does seem to be putting out subspikes, so it might bloom again shortly. If it's trying to, I'm loathed to cut off the spike because its so pretty. However... when its trying to bloom, that's where all of its energy is going to. Without the spike, it'll put more energy towards leaves and roots. So... I'm rather torn :( One subspike has already come out about 1/2cm, and it looks like another one may be starting elsewhere. The ends of the original spikes also seem to be growing out to accommodate more buds. I might have to get some fertilizer to give him the boost he needs to survive if he starts budding before his last blooms fall off!

I just saved yet another orchid XD This one is just beautiful, but it is in really bad shape. It has maybe one or two roots left that are viable. I'm hoping I can bring it back from the brink of death!

And here are the buds from my oldest Orchid! He's got seven currently, and might be working on an eighth!

Ooo! They're so pretty! ^_^
The blossoms fell off of my mom's. I told her to leave it in the kitchen with the windows facing where you said... but she stuck it upstairs in the bathroom. South-facing window, so she thought it would work, but... the window is coated with a film to TINT it! So... yeah.
But yours are doing GREAT! *jealous*

A lot of people who don't really know Orchids will actually think the plant is dying when the blooms drop (they think these things bloom indefinitely like fake flowers. Hah!). At least your mother didn't freak out about that! While the dropping blooms don't mean its dying, in most cases, though, they are actually dying and people just can't see the real symptoms. Be vary weary if the plant's health greatly declines and it reblooms. They call that the 'death spike' and its a last ditch effort to reproduce before they die.

Now that the blooms have dropped, I HIGHLY recommend repotting the orchid in something like Schultz Orchid Mix (don't use the Miracle Grow stuff - its worthless). If/When you repot it, if you want to call me, go right ahead! There's several things to look for when repotting orchids, like rotting roots. That's why the latter two of mine are in bad shape - their roots rotted because they were too cramped/wet, so then they couldn't absorb enough water. In some cases, its hard to tell a rotted root from a dehydrated root. They look the same, except one is hollow and brown, the other is green and full. So! If you can convince your mother to repot the Orchid, you might just get it to bloom again in the fall ;) That is, if it gets enough sunlight! lol East windows are definitely the best - direct or indirect light. West and South are ok, so long as they don't get direct sunlight for very long. It tends to burn the leaves.

Anyway! I think I have rambled enough. :D Hope your mother can get her orchid to rebloom. I'd love to see pictures of it if you have any! (especially if you repot it, get pictures of the roots for me!)
