This forum is designed as a safe place for people in recovery from eating disorders to come and be supported in their silent suffering. By registering on this forum you are agreeing to abide by the following rules and regulations. Anyone found to be in violation of these rules and regulations will be warned. If they continue to violate these rules and regulations they will have their account deleted and they will be blocked from posting on our forum. These rules are here to protect the members of this site and the site itself from inappropriate or derogatory postings. We trust that you will all respect and follow these rules and regulations.
Please be aware that these rules and regulations apply to all areas of the forum, whether you are posting a message or updating your journal. All areas of the forum means just that, ALL AREAS.
First Things First
Topics posted here are for informational use/discussion purposes only and NOT to be substituted for medical advice/care from a professional.
This forum is NOT, should not be considered, or used as a substitute for actual medical advice, diagnosis or mental health care or treatment. It is not meant for "eating disorder treatment" as well. It is for support for those dealing with Eating Disorders in addition to other treatments they may be receiving.
General Forum and Posting Rules
-No defamatory, slanderous, abusive, hateful, obscene or unkind speech, towards any member of this forum, on or off the forum.
-No racism, sexism, homophobia, religious intolerance or other discriminatory speech.
-Please keep profanity to a minimum, and places trigger warnings if excess profanity is used.
-All posts must be free of illegal or distasteful content, which includes pornography and nudity, bigotry, promoting illegal activity, spamming the forum, or flaming/trolling.
-Posting links is allowed, in signatures, and in the designated forums, however they must abide to these regulations.
-Certain forums will have rules that are specific to them. Look carefully at the top of each forum to check for rules!
-Warnings need to be added to posts that may be detailed, graphical or triggering. Trigger warnings are as following:
ED = Eating Disorder
PA = Physical Abuse
GA = General Abuse
SA = Sexual Abuse
RA = Ritual Abuse / RSA = Ritual Sexual Abuse
SI = Self Injury / SH = Self Harm
SU = Suicide
D/A = Drugs/Alcohol
OD = Overdose
AC = Adult Content
Accounts, Signatures, Avatars
-Every member is responsible for their own username and password. You are responsible for any posts made in your account, and you accept the consequences. So keep your username and password safe.
-Pictures in signatures are allowed, but they must be small. If your signature is too big, you will be told to make it smaller. If you do not, it will be removed for you.
-Avatars must not be sexually graphic, or triggering. If your avatar is deemed as either, you will be asked to change it.
-No member of this forum will every request personal information about you, unless you volunteer to help at the site.
-Please don't give out your telephone number, email or home address. If you choose to do so, you do at your own risk. We strongly urge you to get to know someone online very well, for months, before giving out personal information.
-We recommend opening a separate email address that you can give people online, to keep you safe.
-If you receive unsolicited emails or other forms of communication, please save those items and forward them to me at email@example.com
Administrators and Moderators
The administration staff and moderators reserve the right to perform the following: Move posts to more appropriate forums. Delete or Lock posts where and when it is appropriate. All general housekeeping responsibilities including deleting old posts. Ban user names, and if necessary, IP addresses. If you wish to register a complaint, you may do so by contacting our moderators or administration by email about the issue. If you have a complaint about our moderators conduct or management, please email the administration staff, and we will handle the situation promtly.
The decision of the management and its staff is final, please respect this.
The management of Breaking The Chains reserve the right to change or add rules at any time without the acknowledgment of members.
Any posts/messages that are deemed inappropriate will be deleted automatically, possibly with no warning or explanation. If a post is deleted by an Admin it means that the post was not in accordance with these rules and regulations. The Admins have the final say over anything posted on this forum and their decision is final.
BTC’s Admins reserve the right to ban any user at any time with no upfront notification. This will only happen in the most extreme circumstances but if you abide by these rules and regulations there won’t be any problems.
