Blue had heard a craft overhead and was at the front door by the time the bell rang. She thought it was Dreadnought, an old and close friend she had been waiting to arrive, but something seemed 'off' in the sound of the engines. Dread was as cool as they came, and was actually one entity who could become three separate parts. He had a lot of fun teasing her when they had first met, since he didn't let on until she had figured it out on her own. It was a great trip, and they had learned a lot about each other and about themselves too. Blue opened the door, ready to greet Dreadnought to her new home, already saying a welcome... "Welcome to the party..." and stopped dead in her tracks, mouth open and words not quite finished as her smile turned quizzical and her head tipped in that curious way birds had. Before her stood a tall, narrow-bodied human male with dark black skin, hair in cornrows, a long black woolen coat and a kindly face that seemed a bit... apprehensive? She almost knew him, and yet she didn't. It was the most puzzling feeling. "Welcome to the party," she said again, wondering what would happen next. [da heck? this isn't Dread in the Dreadstar... what are you up to, luv?] |

"Hey Blue," greated the new figure with a broad grin. "Ah...I guess The club isn't the only thing in a new home huh?" Unshouldering the sac and holding it towards the matron like a piece offering he continued. "I brought gifts and treats, you like tea, music and light, right?" |

Blue accepted the sack and stood back as he came inside and closed the door against the cold. She guessed he knew she didn't like being cold, either. And he knew she liked exotic, custom blended teas as well as music... light and color... She levelled her gaze at him, amused and unsure at the same time. "That's right... and scents and textures and unique things..." She looked him up and down. "Do i know you? Because you seem to know me..." |

"That's where things get complicated," he admitted with a smile. "I know you, and you know me just not as well as we might think." He chukled because it was quite difficult to explain this without spending three hours on the subject. "Like...Dread has three pieces, well Dread and I are pieces of the same larger...force. So you've never met this piece, directly, but you've interacted with us as a whole anytime you hung out with Dread." He reached into the backpack and pulled out a small box sealed in plastic that read 'Rainbow Medly'. "For you." |

She stared. She couldn't help it. It was just so confusing, and yet, once you accepted the concept that one entity could split into three separate pieces, and that one was even part flesh and part machine, as she was in a way, it became just one more step to think about a... larger being? She opened her mouth to speak, but it was just so baffling. She started thinking of her metaphysics books that taught how the greatest Soul in the universe had split off tiny sparks of Self and instilled life into smaller creatures, and that these creatures lived in tiers that at some point would reunite and become a greater entity until all the parts became Whole again. She just hadn't thought that there might be more to the story than the three Dreads she knew. And it opened up a wholllllllllle new can of worms that delighted, confused, and entrigued her all at once. So she did what she always did. She switched gears and focused on the box in her hands while her head puzzled on a different level. She opened the box... |

The box was simple once unwrapped and opened it possessed ten individualy packaged tea bags each labeled 'Rainbow Medly'/ Odly their was a unique tinge to the packages themselves a curl that only accompanied magical artifacts and sorcerus tomes. Grinning like "the-cate-that-ate-the-canary" Wallace quickly maneuvered through the chaos and to the kitchen to put fill a kettle with water and set it to boil. A moment later the kettle whistled and Wallace held out his hand and took one of the packages. "I'm a Verser, that means I hopp realties under...unique circumstances. I found this a few 'verses ago." Smilling he poured a mug of heated water, opened the tea bag and slowly dipped it into the mug. The instant the bag touched the water a low twinkling entered the air as though someone was playing windchimes. Slowly...not tea...not tea but light, no, radiance suffused the the mug transforming the water into liquid light that emitted not quite a scent but a sound no, music. It was like the scenses were blending together. "Blue," he paused offering the mug to her. "Have you ever drunk a rainbow?" Edited by Dreadnought, December 20, 2008, 11:20 pm.

Burn With Me!
|
Rust took in his gingerbread cookie with an air of bemusement, but his eyes gave lie to the facial expression. Walking around the house, pretending to see the sites, Rust found a porch as yet unused in the festivities and made his way towards it. Setting his cookie uneaten on a end table near the sliding glass doors leading out to the darkened back yard, Rust stepped out into the cold emptiness and let his defenses crumple. It wasn't right. It wasn't fair. This was a happy occasion, but Rust wasn't feeling festive. He reached out with his senses, but none of his usual support pillars were in place, and too much merriment here to put a damper on things. The winds swirled around his silken shirt, and suddenly a new cloak - this one the shimmering white and blue of ice - wrapped itself around Rust's body. The hood pushed upwards to conceal most of his face, and Rust's eyes - those broken, wounded ocean blue eyes - focused on a isolated spot of land far back from the main house. He screamed. Not in a physical sense, he merely continued to look at that plot of land, but through his power with this element, he screamed all his pain. In the distance, a giant spire of ice erupted silently from the ground, to rise high into the night's sky - jagged branches a testament to the sheer emotional turmoil that spawned it. |

Blue started to ask about the familiar newcomer being a 'verser' but then the gentle sound of windchimes caught her attention. Tea leaves that touch water and make not just a scent but a sound? And glowed?? What was this??? Blue stood enraptured by something so unique... so simple... so perfect... something to enlighten the mind and fuse the senses to a higher level, something so very different from anything she had experienced in her long centuries... she opened her mouth to say something charming and couldn't make a sound. She shook her head 'no' in answer to his question and took the mug in both hands. Looking at him for approval, she moved the cup to her lips and took a sip. It was more than the warmth of the water, it was more than the scent of the infusion of leaves; she could feel... no, SEE a glow travelling through her as she swallowed, could hear a small sound like wind moving sand on a lonely night dune, taste the gentle wash of colors across her tongue. Bewildered and delighted, she tried another swallow, and it simply took her breath away. "This is so lovely," she said, with a hint of tears in her eyes. "And what do i call you?" |

He bowed in a fashion that indicated he'd done so many times in the past. "Just call me, The Verser Wallace." Things were beginning to look up and now the smile that washed across his face was one of genuine cheer. Things may chang, but home is still home. |

"Wallace. Nice name," she smiled. "Welcome home, Wallace." Blue took another sip and offered some to him from the same mug. "I'm a bit concerned, though. Does this mean that the parts of you i know -- the bot who is so dear to me -- won't be coming for Christmas?" |

He waved off the offered sip, truth be told the tea was too powerful for him to handle, at least in this universe. "It is, unfortunatly, unlikely that the Dread you know, you all kow, will be able to show up for christmass. He sends his sincerest apologies and it's one of the reasons why I came. To pass along his regrets and his love for you all." He grinned, "and maybe a few gifts I found here and there." |

Her throat tightened. To think one of her oldest and dearest friends would not be with them hurt. She didn't even want to know why he wasn't coming; it couldn't be good. Blue lowered her eyes and nodded in acceptance of her loss. There were always losses. She put the cup on the counter and walked out into the snow, wanting a few minutes alone. |

There was a downside to being longlived. There was a problem with being a survivor. Everyone came and went and she ended up standing alone. Even with someone so much longer-lived than she, like Dread, there was always something getting in the way. Oh, well. She had weathered it before and she surely would again; even those closest to you couldn't promise Forever. She said goodbye to him in her heart and wished him well. Blue had barely begun her walk when there was a disturbance in the distance; the beautiful, moon-sparkling, snowy hillside erupted with a gigantic, angrily-beautiful monolith of brilliant, hard-edged ice jutting with heavy, oddly placed arms reaching... to harm someone? to implore help? She couldn't tell. "Now, that's something i'd like to learn how to do," she said to no one in particular, and then, thinking of the friend who'd also weathered an extremely tough year, she called out. "Rust? Is that your handiwork? Are you okay?" |

"Better now." Rust responded, slipping back into the house, the ice cloak he had donned nowhere in evidence. "Sorry about the display Blue Bird." Rust apologized with feeling. "I needed someplace to vent some frustration, and that abandoned hillside was the best game in town." |

Blue gave him a hug and let him go back inside. She could sure understand his feelings. Whistling to her winter friends, she asked for a small favor. And for just a little while, if anyone cared to look past the yard of her new home and into the distance, they would surely see an icey structure jutting from the landscape with hundreds of Cardinals gracing that tree of pain and turning it into a tree of Hope. For that was really all that anybody had. "Okay," she said as she returned to the party, needing the merriment to fill her once more, "Who wants to play Pin The Tail on Santa? Roadie, we need a volunteer!" |

". . . . . Were you just listening... Nevermind, i don't wanna know." Blue turned to everyone else. "LS has just volunteered to go first! Yay, Slayer!" Blue threw a Santa suit on LS and handed a rather large hatpin laced with a red ribbon that had a sleighbell hanging from it to who ever was standing closest. "Now, the rules of the game are that whoever gets the jinglebell closest to Santa's butt gets that big gift sitting next to the fireplace. Hold still while i put this blindfold on you... I think we need one on you too, LS..." |

"A little more padding would be a good idea too," Blue took a quick look (okay, not so quick) at LS's butt and winked approvingly. Handing the hatpin to Wallace-the-new-guy, she blindfolded him and spun him around. Then she blindfolded Slayer and spun him too. "Okay, let's see if Wallace can make contact before Slayer can hide. On yer mark..." LS bolted for the door, but didn't know where it was and crashed into someone. "Get set..." Wallace tuned in his hearing for which squeeking noise was the local mouse family, which were the minicons, and which was LS. "GO!" Blue got the heck out of the way and watched while others called out directions to both sides. |

Holy walked out from another room as he finished putting his cuff links back on to see LS going running headlong into someone. Tracing his path back he saw someone new yet strangely familiar. He was holding what looked like a tail for pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey. Holy joined in the shouting, trying to direct the newcomer to LS' rear end. And then he had an idea. Suddenly a guitar was in his hand. This time, it wasn't the usual green Ibanez he was so famous for. This year, it was a dark, slightly blueish green, with a black pattern visible in the paint. The color ran up the neck and headstock, and neck was covered by a rosewood fingerboard. The headstock had three letters on it "LTD" and the truss rod cover had three letters as well, "ESP". He had pulled it out of a black, thin, rectangular case with no stickers (in contrast the case from which the Ibanez resides, which is covered in stickers), and simply had three letters seeming sprayed via stencil onto the side (ESP, the case was an actual Christmas gift this year, the guitar I bought of my brother for an awesome price, I'll try to get a picture up for all to see, it is beautiful). He then broke into "Wizards in Winter" by the TSO (click me). The Christmas lights, the normal lights, heck, all the lights in a multi-square block begin to turn off and on in time with the music. Holy smiled. It just wasn't Christmas until he played something awesome. Edited by HolyIbanez, January 3, 2009, 12:53 pm.
