i've talked to several people lately about their pets, and it got me to thinking about how many of us love animals. i have a boxer. She's loving, intelligent, playful, and has such a deep growl that when my son is playing with her you'd think Cujo is in the house. She has one of those barrel-chested growls that would scare the pants off a stranger, just like in the movies, it's just amazing! She's such a wonderful addition to the family, and now i understand why people who already HAD boxers told me that once i get one, i'd never want another kind of dog. Of course, there's also the bearded dragon one of my sons owns (but i feed and care for most of the time, lol) who is so easy going, and loves to be hand fed. So... what animals do you have? |

Currently have two cats and an aquarium (which is struggling due to lack of power at the moment) Cats are: Cole, the elder. Cole is long... VERY long, black medium fur cat. He's beautiful, and extremely intelligent. His weaknesses? his younger brother (typical sibling rivalry) and crooked wiskers (hurts the beauty factor) ![]() Roux, the baby. Roux is short, cobby, stalky, short hair orange fur cat. He's a bowling ball, and is the stupid one. However he is EXCEEDINGLY cute and cuddly once he knows you. He is a cat that has little to no compuncture to letting someone use him as a pillow (granted, you don't really want to put your whole weight on him... but he'll lay there until you start squishing him, purring like a motor the whole time.) His weakness? aforementioned dumbness, and we think he's got pseudo-bad vision, making him very fearful of sudden noises, unknown people, etc. Follows his older brother around much like a younger sibling, driving Cole crazy. ![]() |

Aye, boxers are very smart. Smartest I think may be terriers though... |

you may be right. Terriers are quick witted and quick movers, they needed it for their survival in their early role as hunters for humans. Boxers are more socialized and just want to fit in to their family unit. |

Im on my second big German Shepard, shes called Kes, last one was Kaya (you all saw her) she past away a couple of years past way May 3rd this year. We got Kes from a rescue place and we found out two main things about her. 1: she NEVER played even as a pup it took a couple of months and now she loves to play chase. 2: She is a Pure breed and a medal and show dog (well ex) we where given this big file binder on her. |

Cole, as someone forgot to mention, is also an anti-semite. I'm not sure, exactly, how he acts with other jews, but he clawed my hand to pieces just for trying to get him home one day. *scowl* Roux never did anything wrong by me. He and I get along just fine. As for me, the travelling life does not leave room for a pet. Actually, that's not true. Many folks I work with, or have worked with, have pets. I just don't. I still consider my parents' dog as mine, though. His name is Brutus, and he is a half black lab and half rottweiller. He's a big baby, and I love him. |

Cole is not anti-semite... I TOLD you not to go pick him up if he went outside!! (JA thought 'hey, i've been here a while, he knows me, the rules don't apply' and tried to pick him up @ 3AM when he scooted out the door under his feet.) He (Cole) did actually lock a (future) priest out of our house once in Atlanta. A friend who was in the seminary had come and stayed with us for a few days. He was packing up to leave, me and my wife were both at work. He took some of his stuff out to the car, leaving the house key on the desk. When he came back to the door... it was locked. We had a deadbolt, and the only thing that we could figure is that Cole stretched up and smacked the deadbolt, locking him outta the house! We ended up having to bring his duffle bag to his parents the next time we went home

i remember Kaya, Silver. You and Kaya obviously adored each other. She was a beautiful dog. How in the world did Kes end up in a shelter, if she had papers? Couldn't her first owners keep her? How old was she when you got her? You scared the poor kitty! *cuddles Cole, who sticks his tongue out at JohnA* Maybe he just doesn't like big brutes like YOU! ![]() John, you have a half black lab and half rottweiller? Is he huge with long fuzzy black hair? Oh, PLEASE go to a aquarium/fish store or a bait and tackle store and get a battery-powered air pump, a piece of tubing and an air stone! Oh, i should have mentioned that our Boxer is an old lady now... At 9 years old middle age has long since set in. Her muzzle is turning white, her trim, tiny, cinched waist has dropped to beagle proportions, and her once effortless doe-like jumping and prancing is not quite so nimble now... but she doesn't care and neither do we, everyone says hello and goodbye to the dog before they speak to mom. And it's fine with me that she's more important than i am! ![]() Her name is Murphy. Why an Irish name for a German dog? My sons are sci-fi lovers like mom, and their favorite movie when we got her was Robocop. i love the cat pictures, Roady. Who else has photos to share??? |

Ok, so he's an athiest, playing with catholics and jews both. And yes, he was nice to me for, *ponders* I think it was about 7 or 8 weekends straight, so yes, I was lulled into a false sense of security. And no, Brutus isn't really big, though he does have that rott-broad chest. And his hair is pretty short. He's such a character, though. |

She was a beautiful dog. we did, she saw me as a pup and we grew up together, I came home from uni for her last days, she loved the company. How in the world did Kes end up in a shelter, if she had papers? Couldn't her first owners keep her? How old was she when you got her? Well acording to the person who runs the shelter, Kes pervious owner said she and another dog (her pack brother) ran out while she was in heat and when a dog tried to mout her (i dont know how they knew) her brother attacked theis other dog, and the owner got rid of her beacuse they belived she was the trouble maker. We got her at 6 years old and she just has never played at all untill we got her Oh and, GSDs ARE the most inteligent dogs on Earth....Kaya wasnt she was the dumb blond of the GSDs and Kes she is pretty inteligent Edited by Silverwing Wolf, September 25, 2008, 2:55 am.

curious... was Kes spayed when you got her? i've heard of PROFESSIONAL breeders who think that once a female dog is mated by an unwanted male, their pups in a FUTURE litter can be 'throwbacks' to the unwanted --and maybe non-purebred-- male. It's a shame Kes lost her home from all that, and especially sad that she was separated from her pack brother; but luckily, she's getting a MUCH BETTER life now! |
