Are you actually going to use Ebberon, or is this just going to resemble it? Also, when you stay standard races, I assume that means standard D&D races? And are the Sheen passable? As in, do they look like just humans, or like dwarves and elves, or are they obviously....not an organic race (like the robots in I, Robot or something). I already have an idea for a character, but I'm a stickler for details, so until I get more, I'm hesitant to set anything in stone (in my head, that is). |

Yeah I'm talking standard fantasy races. Human, Elf, Dwarf, gnome. No half breeds, don't feel like dealing with that, sorry. The sheen run the gamut but none look completely organic, about as close as it gets would be say *points up at the picture of Blue Phoenix on the baner* Metal skin, that folds and warps like flesh but it IS metal and obviusly so. I would prefer to keep the differing races as destinctive as possible so there's a point to being one race over another and the asthetic is part of that. I used Ebberon as an example to imply fantasy with robots. |

...Sheen don't transform, right...? let's not make them too TF, they can be totally original, and keep people wondering why the Primogenitors liked them like that. ![]() But i would think that all these groups have lived together for so many centuries that all these differing peoples are the norm for them. And each race is distinct and has it's own features and fallbacks. |

No sheen don't transform ^_^ As for comradery it's a come and go thing. After a thousand years of domination however have created inter-specues resentment thusly towns like Mid Porte where all diferent peoples are accepted cis the rarety not the norm. |

Will we be using a class-system like in D&D? And if so, will all the 'normal' classes exist? |

No I don't think so, class systems only work if you're going to have defined plateus of progress, or levels. Such things don't really come about in free-form, or rather I feel are best left out of free form. It'll be more an issue of players to determine their "class." |

BWAAHAAAHAAA!!! ...he sure put his foot in it, when he responded to my general questions in this thread about 'what should we eventually do next' by revealing an idea we've only spoken about once. ![]() dunno how soon he'd be ready to get started, but i kinda think he's already committed... or BEEN committed (one meaning or the other! LOL!) |

I don't know about names for the game, but I know for a fact I wanna be a Sheen. I just can't decide if I want to name the character Charlie or Martin. |

I've been wanting to get into another D&D game as well, but long storylines don't seem last. So I've been contemplating maybe just running games of single missions and such, really sort of pick up games perhaps. Or perhaps just running a small campaign of a few missions and seeing where it takes us. |

that would be fun, we don't have to have an epic storyline to mess around in! |

Yeah, but hack'n slash is only fun when you're using your stats and hoarding XP and treasure. We're going text-based and RP-based here, which means character development is where the loot is at. And you only get character development over a long period of time/posts. |

not neccesarily true. You don't have to do hack n slash for a short game, think 'single module' type game, rather than campaign. You still play your characters personality, you just don't get to divulge the reasons that personality is the way it is. |

Yeah but you don't get to know each other in one mod, least not in a short one. Which is why, I think, a series of interlinking "adventures" is the best mix. Doesn't have to be an over arching epic, just give asense of history and accomplishment. On the flipside, however, I remember the AUG RPG forum used to have ajunior board which was just for one off and brieg ideas. The place was fun cause it had no history and you could just hop into something wqieird play it till the end or until everyone was bored of oiit and move on without any hurt feekings or feeling bad a temp game die. If a temp game was AMAZIN"G and people really wanted to devout alot of efort to it the game got upgraded to full time and got it's own forum. That happened twice as I recall.
