Keith fairly sprinted down the stairs to the Cathedral of Lions and drew his key with aq practiced ease that should have taken years to perfect. With the not so disconcerting out-of-body feeling of moving through the portal the captain entered the Platue of Winds. "Wind, I'm gonna need your help."

The whispy half image of the Platues' computer/spirit sentience materialized. "How may I asist you Captain Kogne?"

"I need to see the sensor logs from the Volt'ron unity at the end of our battle with the drule beast. I want to know if the crator left behind is safe for human occupancy."

Svens aim easied up no longer aimed at her chest but no at her legs, he still felt uneasy about this hole situation.
"You gave your will to them, you helped them enslave or salughter thousands, many where my own kind you lost all your morals just to save your own hide? I find that hard to belive." he paused for a monment thinking back "do you feel any remorse from those who you have killed or helped to kill in the past?" his aim now more relaxed

"would you ever help us defet them once and for all?" He did relise the questions where numors but there was one he had to know, even if the answer was one he did not wish to hear it had to be asked "What happend to the ones from my race who fought agenst the Drule, what happend to them, the surviours?"

In the back on Svens mind he could hear his old trianing capitan
"Im very surprised you even passed Interigation Sven, you have an enermy combatant you need to be forcefull"
"But she was left by her own force they abondoned her...we canines would never do that to our own"
"Times have changed Sven, you are still a soilder and you have a war to fight, just do it one battle at a time"
"The path of the warrior is a uncertain one Sven only you can choose who you fight, you remind me of a young pup who was the same too eger to show he was a warrior, there is only one true battle for any warrior to fight where the leasons from thier past are finally learnt....only then will you understand the ture calling of a Warrior, Sven" Said the voice of General Sarth of of the Canines most feared and honoured war lords, he banded the stronger clans to form the Canine Empire and protected the weaker ones, he became the longest serving King of Feris, and its the book of Sarth that all current Canine soilders study
"I must over come my past mistakes and fears and live into the future, a former enermy can be your gratest ally"

Sven smiled and lowered his weapon "I think your safe I know how it feels to be outcasted by your own, ones I once called brothers and packmates I now call enermy untill one day we fight side by side again, but untill then I have a new pack to fight for. Im sure the capitan would agree, we could use someone like you in our ranks, if your willing to fight one last battle." He said to her as he walked ahead, looking back at her "My race have a saying A former enermy can be your gratest ally" He offers his hand to help her up some rubble "shall we continue?"
"Lo as I walk thought the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear No evil, for I'm 15,000 feet and climbing!"

Merla's answer was simply a nod. If you can use me, I would be honored to fight with this new force. But there is only one problem. She stops and points down to her cybernetics, "The emplacements in my body give me a great physical advantage over a normal warrior, but unlike your own, they have a failsafe device. If a Drule commander sees me with your people, helping, that failsafe will be activated and I will again be under their service. But, I see that somehow you have some range of Cybernetic technology... a very impressive one at that." she indicated Sven's replaced arm, "Maybe this 'Hunk' could indeed look into disabling the failsafe's on my spine and leg. With that, I would be free to fight against the Drule." She pauses, letting her statement sink in before continuing, "As to what happened to the other Canine renegades, all I know is general politcal history of the event. If they were captured, they were turned into either slaves or into Drule Androids."

Coran had been listening, and from the look on his face, he too believed that perhaps they had found a new ally, "What then can you tell us about the Arusian prisoners?"

Merla nodded, "That, I know more about. But perhaps I should speak with your 'Princess' directly."

Sven and Coran took her to a cell and set her on guard. Coran immediately sought out Allura in the command center and told her what had transpired.

"I think she may truly be ready to turn against the Drule!" Coran's eyes sparkled as he spoke, "I see in her the truth that she too had her life taken from her, sacrificed in a different way than yours was, but sacrificed nonetheless. If what she says is true..."

He is interrupted as the communications relay beeped. An older woman looked up from the panel and back at Princess Allura, "Ma'am? We are being contacted again by the Drule. Their emissary is on the way..."

By now, the day had progressed into late afternoon. Keith had throughouly checked the site for contamination and they had signaled the Drule their interest in using the crater as the meeting sight. Everything was in place.

"Keith to Hunk," began the captain opening a communique between the Platue and the Pyramid. "Can you send me a status update on the prgress of the Lions repairs, particularly the Yellow?"

He could, of course, just look up at the Black Lion and inspect it for himself to see how damaged it still was an, all considered that was a good idea so he inspected it as he awaited Hunks' reply.

Allura nodded, now decked out in her battle-uniform, and not that abbhorrent dress. "She has been through much," Allura said, almost to herself. Upon noticing Coran's inquisitive gaze she hastily responded, "We spoke after she...shot you before," she finished with a slightly abashed look, as if she could have, or should have, stopped the shot. "Regardless of her allegiance, or changing thereof, if she can give me any information about the prisoners, it will help in the negotiations. And I don't mind making those creatures wait, either."

She adressed Coran. "Have Captain Kogane prepare the fastest Lion and have it waiting in the courtyard. I will speak with Merla, briefly, and then we can speed off to the destination point. If Captain Kogane wishes, he can go ahead in his Lion, just to make a show a force and let them know we are serious about negotiating. But no negotiating until I arrive!" She added that last with a bit more vehemence than she realized. "I have no doubt in his abilities or intentions, but these are MY people, not his, and I will hopefully be bringing more to the table with what Merla tells me." She looked down again at her battle outfit. "I seem to be using many new fashions these days. Fashionably late won't hurt too much for these negotiations, I hope."

Turning and strolling down to where the makeshift dungeons were, she steadied herself to meet someone that she technically owed, but had never expected to meet again. Steeling herself, she strode down the hallways to face, once again, Merla, last sovereign of House Shydoyw.

Hunk rubbed his eyes into the bridge of his nose just as Keith contacted him. The mechanic jumped, and then answered, "Well repairs are mostly done on all of them. Should be done by morning, but they're all basically functional. I'd prefer not to interrupt the repairs, but if we need them, they should run well enough.

"I'm working on compartmental installation modules, so we can work on upgrades without keeping the lions on the shop constantly. It's proving... both easier and harder than I expected, so it's still gonna take months to get them all space-worthy, Captain.

Glancing over to the fabrication systems, he added, "And the armor and weapons are moving along nicely. We have enough for a couple hundred troops now."

"Good news all around Hunk, you are indeed a miracle worker. I just hope Sven can find enough people to put in those suites. One other question though, any idea if ot when we can get a long range transmitter operational to contact the Garrison?" asked Keith as he considered their options. "Wind, if possible, display in bound Drule vessel and the crater the beast was destroyed in."

Switching frequencies he contacted Allura, "have the Drule been given a meeting point yet? If not, the crater is clear of all harmful radiation and effects. I still believe that will be the ideal zone for negotiations. If you'd like I'll go ahead and escort them to the negotiation sight. I also think we should keep Lance and perhaps Hunk and-or-Pidge here at the Castle as back up and a failsafe incase the Drule decide to pull something cataclysmic while all the pilots and all the warmachines are present. Besides I think even two or three Lions would get the point across quite aptly."

Turning to the lion he said simply, "Black get ready."

Allura nodded, having received the transmission from Keith as soon as she had finished speaking with Coran. "Perhaps he's right. The Blue is the most defensive capable in case something happens. I suppose I'll have to wait to speak with Merla. Keep her under guad until I get back." Flicking back to Keith's channel. "On my way. The Blue Lion will meet you there." Back to Coran, "Contact Lance and Pidge and have them in their dens and ready for backup like the Captain said."

With that she turned and went to the Cathedral, whipping out the key and soon finding herself in the Waters of Peace. "Verisu," she asked, using the Canine's name for the computer here, "Can I fly in the Lion in this or does it have to be the flight suit itself?"

The mist-being formed near her and the soft woman's voice answered, "You must wear the helmet while piloting for full and optimus access to combat facilities, but other than that, what you wear is merely protection. The blue pilot suit would make for greater ease and comfort while in action, however."

Plateau of the Winds

The dust clouds whipped up around the platform Keith stood on, and coalesced into an image of a sleek, silvery sheep with swept forward wings. It was small, in fact, it was only about twice the size of a Drule fighter.

It was already lowering itself at the requested meeting sight. smoothly setting down without the slightest kick or bump.

After settling on the ground, it seemed to simply wait.

Keith nodded to the image of the Drule craft and in response to Alluras message. "I shall meet you enroute princess. Lance, keep them all in line and ready in case it all goes pear shapped."

Releasing one last steadying breath the Captain steeled himself for what was to come, putting on his "game-face" before donning the helmet, and suite then getting in the Black Lion and launching.

"Then gimme the helmet, Verisu," she said, heading quickly over to the big Blue Lion. Patting it affectionately as it lowered its access point for the cockpit, she climbed aboard. "I'm not looking to fight, merely to impess and converse. And I think this out fit will do better than a flight suit."

Once in the cockpit the helmet came down to cover her head, and she slid her hands into the control slots. "C'mon, old girl," she said to the big Lion. Let's go show those Drule what they don't want to mess with."

With that they were off and moving at full speed towards the revdevous point. Knowing of her lack of flying grace (though it did seem to be improving just a bit), she slowed as she approached so that her landing was, while slow, a bit more graceful than a plop. She looked over and noticed that the Black Lion had landed there adjacent to where she was, the two of them across from the Drule ship.

"Captain," she said, hailing Keith, "I dislike the idea of leaving the protectiveness of my Lion, but am afraid it is necessary. Please do keep an eye on things and don't hesitate to throw up some sort of shield at my signal, allowing me got back to my baby girl here," and she pats the interior of the lion.

"Let's both give individual scans of that ship, Captain, and then I'm off."

Letting her blue lion run its scanners over the ships capabilites as far as defences, went, she found nothing special. Standard in-orbit, short-range transport. Satisfied that Keith had found nothing more significant, she lowered her acces point.

Right before leaving, she added, "Captain, can your Lion throw up a jamming field for sensors on a very short-range basis? I'd hate to have them looking through the door I intend to leave open."

Without a reply, she descended, leaving her helmet in the cockpit, and strode forward, the future of her people and her planet weighing not lightly on her mind.

GM Note: Uh... yeah, no. The scans are written in following email (to come)

"I'll give it a shot," responded Keith over the private line to Allura. "If you're sure you don't want me down there with you."

Focusing though, he began to consider the EM jamming abilities of the Black lion and the ability for it to create a vast EM wash. He wanted to do something like that, but not so extreme, not as uncontrolled and wild, not a flash. Just a simple electrical hum, a grwl not a roar that would reverberate over the environment...

The Crater

The wind blue hot in the late-day sun here. All moisture in the area had been sucked out with the violent tornado of radiation from last night.

Allura paused, was that really just last night?

A ruff of wind blew against her, the long braid of her hair feeling it's strength.

Ahead of her was something of an enigma.

The Drule craft had some kind of low level jamming of it's own in place. Something that sparkled along the hull as the Blue had attempted to probe it. Allura didn't know much of technology, but whatever it was seemed pretty slick. If the lion hadn't been staring directly at the ship, it might not have even known it was there!

The silvery design sparkled in the sunlight. From this distance, she could see the wrought detail, shimmering in pearlescent stripes down the smooth edges of the wings and top. Finely crafted was an understatement! The designs were complex, and proved to be more and more complex as she neared the craft. Layers upon layers of ever increasing designs that shimmered in a pattern that seemed to move and dance as she neared it.

Despite the swirling clouds of dust, not a bit settled on the silver ship. But then, nothing seemed to settle on the massive Black Lion, whose armor was every bit as impressive.

Between the two ships, Allura suddenly had a pang of smallness and plain-ness.

A hatch slid down from the ship, smoothly and without the slightest noise. As it touched down, a figure was already making it's way down, along, unaccompanied. Much like Allura was.

It was also definitely not Commander Yuroth. The figure was human-like in appearance, wearing a helmet locked into his... well, to call it a flight suit no more matched what she was wearing. His, however, did seem to lock together with the helmet quite smoothly, and was probably made as just that. It was bone white, with silver and green inlaid patterns, not unlike the glittering pearl on his ship. The green seemed to pulse with energy as he moved in some subtle way that Allura couldn't put her finger on. In fact, the way he moved was almost hypnotic. There was grace, ease, and strength in his movement unlike anyone she had ever seen before!

As he reached the bottom, the helmet slid apart and back, folding into his suit without a noise, and revealing the man that was beneath it.

Allura had never seen such a perfect being in all her life.

Hair, pale white and as pure as silk, whipped about in a flurry with the blowing winds, unrestrained and free from the confines of the helmet. His ever so slanting eyes were a brilliant purple, and almost glowing in the slanting sunlight. His face and skin were smooth and pale, like chiseled ivory.

He neared her with unrestrained admiration filling his eyes. Allura found a blush creeping up from her very toes from the confident gaze of this being. With an appreciative bow... not an overexagerated sweep, but that of royalty acknowledging royalty... he spoke in a warm and strong voice, "Princess Allura Altaire, last of the house of Altaire, Sovereign Ruler of Arus," His voice only harbored respect and acknowledgement, "... my name is Prince Lo'toir. Prince of the Drule Empire, Son and Heir to the Lord High Emporer Z'arkyon."

She had thought Keith--Captain Kogaine--she mentally corrected herself was impressive and, well, he was. This one in front of her certainly no less so, and probably moreso, albeit in a avery different way. She internally shook herself free of his hypnotic spell. She hoed it was internal, anyways. No need for him to think what she was thinking. No that wouldn't do at all. Best to be frank.

She nodded at his greeting and replied, "Well met," with all of the diplomacy and lack of ire she could muster for the son--the son--of the one who gave the order to invade Arus in the first place. "Now that introductions are out of the way, I would suggest we attend to the matters at hand. It has been said that 'Time has Value' and, at least in this particular instance I agree wholeheartedly."

He looked like he was about to say something, but she jumped in, probably looking a bit anxious, but wanting to get on with it and done with it and, half worried that if his looks put her off balance, further words might do more than that.

"You have vested equipment and soldiers still on this planet at four other locations, which I invite you to remove or dismantle as expediently as possible. I have subjects enthralled at these same locations, which I require to be freed and delivered by your ships to a pre-arranged meeting place. Once we have the Arusian citizens, finish gathering your own and remove yourself from Arusian space with the upmost haste. At which point diplomatic negotiations can begin with a clean slate."

It all came out in a rush. No wonder, it had been something she'd been rehearsing for hours. Now she stood there, steeling herself as best she could for a refusal that would doom probably more than half of those still enslaved to slavery or death. Still, she had to try. It was her duty. The wind tugged at her braid as she matched that purple-stare with best icey-blue gaze she could muster.

The handsome Prince Lo'toir smiled a brilliant smile, "I'm afraid I was sent here to negotiate on a much larger platform, Princess Allura." The tone of his voice was one of simple statement. "The fact that you've come to consider talking puts you in much higher esteem among the Drule than the preceeding rulers. Of course, we're much to young to remember much from that time," Indeed, if Allura were to guess, Lo'toir appeared very similar in age to her, "but according to the data records from that time, the original dignitary that came to your planet was treated... poorly. In looking at those same records I have to wonder if it didn't have something to do with the Galaxy Force dignitary that had arrived only weeks before ours." With that, he looked up at the Black Lion, "And who still seem to hold claim over the planet, even ten years hence." It was the first time that anything other than respect had been in his voice. His tone made it quite certain how he considered the Galaxy Force Alliance.

Straightening himself and returning his attention to Allura he continued, "Most of the Drule resources have already been offloaded from this world, and in case your remaining scientific systems are still unable to tell, the world itself is in it's final death throes, and will become barren within a matter of months. Sadly, there is little of worth here that you can bring forward to the table." This was all stated carefully, and sincerely. His tone was that of someone who was confiding the details to someone to make sure no mistakes were made.

"However, there is something of definite worth that I can offer you. The few remaining citizens you hold in the castle are far from the remainder of the Arusian people..." his eyes became intense, focused on Allura, "... and they are still in need of a leader."

"And they have one," she replied steadily, sternly...perhaps a bit too sternly.

"If you have removed all of your equipment, then it will be no trouble for us to recconoiter and recover our people," she hoped Keith picked up on that one.

"As for this planet...if you truly intend to leave, then it is of no concern to you anymore. 'As for me and mine, it is our home. It always has been, and it ever shall be'." She realized how that sounded, as if she'd quoted from Scripture...then she realized that last line was from Scripture.

She looked back as icily as she could. It was hard to stare daggers at something that pretty. Almost, she was afraid her glare might somehow mess him up, and oh that would be a tragedy. Shaking herself from that thought back to reality, and glad she had a gust of wind to disguise her little shiver, she asked, "And what other grander diplomacy might you refer to?" she asked, "Anything on the nature of trade and the like would be a long time coming since, as you have so clearly pointed out, we will be long in our recovering." She winced inside at that, knowing it was true. Hoping it was true, that there would actually be a recovery.

She looked back, deathly afraid of what he was going to offer. Not because she was afraid she would take it. No, she would never take Merla's path. Not in a thousand lifetimes. But even so, it would be tempting. And that temptation would make her want to cringe at herself everytime she looked in the mirror, no matter how grandly she was garbed.

"And they have one," Allura replied steadily, sternly...

It was a simple though strong sentiment and as if on cue the Black-Lion nodded it's head as if offering a quick bow to the true soveriegn(sp?) of Aurus.
