Blue's mention of a D&D/FR movie (here) reminded me of something I'd read a few weeks ago:
So this new Dungeons & Dragons movie is being produced (in part) by the company that produced the other three Dungeons & Dragons movies? But with more direct input from Hasbro (of which Wizards of the Coast, the company that produces the D&D game, is a subsidiary) and some folks from The LEGO Movie, and set on Toril (Forgotten Realms, the default setting for D&D 5E) rather than a vaguely Oerth-y (Greyhawk, the default setting for D&D 3E/3.5) setting. |

I'm hoping they have a vaguely X-men approach, which would allow them to introduce more than just one or two main characters, if not for this, then for other movies. Nobody seems to know much about what's going to happen yet, though. |

I'm surprised they kept Sweetpea Studios involved, since Hasbro blamed them for the other D&D movies not doing well. David Leslie Johnson also wrote 2011's Red Riding Hood, co-wrote 2012's Wrath of the Titans, and was a writer for season 2 of The Walking Dead (ep 5 "Chupacabra," and ep 9 "Triggerfinger"). I wonder if he'll be basing this movie on any existing FR storyline, or something entirely new? |
