General Notes on the Game Voltron: DoU is a reimagining of the Voltron: Defender of the Universe cartoon. Here, we're taking a grittier, more modern approach to the material, making substantial changes to the people, places, and events. Think 'Battlestar Gallactica's return to TV recently... male characters became females, military positions and basic personality traits were there, but gender, attitudes, weaknesses, etc all changed. Some back history: There was a cataclysmic attack maybe a thousand years past during which the lions were created as the ultimate end to the war. These events would have shaped their modern world. The lion's ultimate use has faded into 'mythology' though they were brought out once a year to do a 'blue angels'-like flying show to celebrate the peace of the planet. Most people probably regarded them as just antiquated fancy flying robots. Anyone who has ever been closer than several thousand feet to one (as they flew over) is now dead. I don't think I have to remind you of how much a few hundred years even can 'color' and haze over the truth of what once was... and how quickly things might go unforgotten. Also, the planetwide technology level was extremely advanced. Socially and religiously they were united. This is not to say there wasn't crime or badness anywhere (hence a police force), but that war had been unheard of for nearly a thousand years. They were highly undeveloped for defense or offense militarily. The basic initial characters are: Keith - captain, male (young leader) Sven - 2nd officer, chaplain (calm, smooth) Lance - security (a scrapper) Hunk - technician (stocky, strong) Pidge - science officer (young, hyper intelligent) Allura - Princess of Arus, female (stong willed, hopeful, willing to do anything for her people/planet) New characters may include, Merla, Coran, Nanni, and even Lotor. For a new character writeup, all we need is: Name: Age: Sex: Race: Physical Description: Personality: Background notes: For the record, the Wikipedia entry for Voltron has their 'original' name, but don't feel tied to those. ('Lance' could easily be turned into a call sign) A few more ground rules and notes... - The game started sometime between Dec 25th and New Years 2006. - Once the game starts, the character personalities will be locked (in other words, don't come in two weeks later saying, ' I want to take over the character Lance, but I want him to be a purple skinned alien with buck teeth now...' At that point, he will be established and set. The only variation would be 'life' variations or in-game events that alter their viewpoints and attitudes. - YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE AN EXTREMELY PROFICIENT WRITER OR ROLEPLAYER to participate!!!! The bulk of the descriptive writing will be on me. You just need to speak up about your characters reactions and intentions to what is conspiring around them. THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WRITING YOU CAN'T on the contrary, If you do like writing/creating, you are more than welcome to do so!! Just make sure that any major changes get passed by me first!! - Characters will grow with experience! This means that the more you participate, and participate in character, the more you will find your character can do. Gradually, new abilities will become apparent both for your character, AND for your lion. (ie: 'Pidge' posts something, even at least a short 1-sentence reaction every time I post something, so when he goes to try to reprogram an alien computer array to do something new, viola! he finds that he has learned how to operate the machine... OR in mid-attack, Lance, who always jumps into the fray, suddenly realizes that he has stumbled across an entirely new weapon in his lion... etc...) GM NOTE: To keep the game moving along, if you have not posted anything in the game post (or at least a question in this post) in one full week's time, I will continue the story , posting any responses needed from your character. The bad part of that is, you are far less likely to succeed at a given task when I have to do this. IF I haven't heard any word from you in over a month (and I will try messages and emails to attempt contacting you) I reserve right to push your character to NPC status and make them available for a new player. Don't worry, this really will be a last ditch result, and it will probably take more than a month for me to do so... Also, it will of course be mitigated for occasions where posting is made impossible (computer issues, moving issues, etc, as long as you let me know up front) I just want to make sure that the game doesn't die because we're all waiting on someone to answer yes or no to some question asked two months prior. Suggestion to all players, you can subscribe to any post on ezboard, allowing it to send you an email when something new is posted. It helps to elect this when working in a game to let you make sure you don't miss anything!! Edited by Roadbuster, August 19, 2008, 10:44 am.

Character Information Name: Keith Akira Kogane Player: Dreadnought Age: 21 Sex: male Race: human, asian Physical Description: 5'11", 185, black military cut hair, brown eyes. Personality: Keith is a young, but already an extremely promising natural born leader. He has a knack for tactics, and always seems to be able to see to the heart of any problem. He is honest and direct, always trying to do what is right. Background: Keith is the son of the Grand Admiral of the Galaxy Force itself. However, his father is distant, at best. Keith favors his mother in temperment, but seems to have full grasp of his father's abilities in the military. A string of decisions and events in life led Keith to decide to take a small deep space exploration ship for his first assignment as Captain. The small, four person crew ships were known for forging the finest people in their fields. They were also known for being the most dangerous and often the quietest assignments out there. However, out alone in the depths of space is one place that Keith can prove his capabilities without his father's influence. Name: Sven Tybas Silver Player: Silverwing Fox Age: 40 Sex: Male Race: Canine Physical Description: 6ft 5inches tall, dark gray fur with white - silver - gray tones and a tail, two large golden ear rings in his right ear, long black and brown hair tyed up to form a pony tail. He wears a jacket from his former military uniform (from his home world), he carries two modifed hand blasters. Personality: A very cautious soul who, but dosnt like young pups taking to many risks. This sometimes causes him to take risks to protect those who he believes are weaker than he. He does have a lot of respect for the team, as they work as a pack, which is something he has missed since being exiled from his home world. After his exile, he found refuge on Earth. He's a former Wolverine, which is his race's eilte soilders and pilots. He has seen the true horrors a war can take on one's soul. He wears his old uniform's jacket as a reminder of his past, and to change what he can for the future. Name: Lance Charles McClain Player: NONE AT THE MOMENT Age: 22 Sex: male Race: human, caucasian Physical Description: 5'9" tall about 185 lbs. very musculear. Black short styled hair. Bright blue eyes Personality: A hot head who thinks no one is better than himself in a fight wether it be with a blaster, sword, or fists. A consumate ladies man he's always trying to find a date. Background notes: Lance has spent the last 6 weeks in military jail for stricking a superior officer. The officer made the mistake of insulting Lance's upbringing, after Lance had a few to many to drink. A top grade combat pilot Lance has the skills needed for the mission to Arus. Name: Claude "Hunk" Fitzpatrick Player: Cyrex Wingblade Age: 25 Sex: Male Race: Human Physical Description: A young man of great stature and size, Claude stands an impressive 6'5". His broad shoulders only serve to exaggerate his frame. His head is topped by a shaggy crop of red hair, and a perpetual 3 day stubble shadows his face. His prominent brow shadows his smallish eyes, and a big round nose accents his bigger, rounder cheeks. He is usually dressed in a set of grey coveralls, and more often than not has a toolbelt around his waist. Personality: Hunk is tinkerer who is compelled to take apart whatever he can. He has an inquisitive nature, so much that his curiosity has lead to an almost-nievety when it comes to other people. He is not a very good judge of character, and has been betrayed before. Despite all this, he tries to maintain a friendly demeanor, and will always step up to defend his friends, even when the odds are against them. Background notes: A mechanic by trade, Claude had always sought to understand how anything works. This has lead him to travel about the universe, learning all that he can about machines. Once, while boarding a dropship, the captain remarked how Claude must have have weighed as much as a hunk of steel. The crew took to calling him "Hunk," and Claude liked it so much, it stuck. He rarely introduces himslef by his real name anymore. Name: Darrell "Pidge" Stoker Player: NONE AT MOMENT Age: 14 Sex: Male Race: Arusian (human, caucasian) Physical Description: Darrell is a thin boy with an gleam of intelligence and determination in his eyes. His eyes flash green and his hair a roughly cut brown. He stands at four foot and two inches, his thin stature hiding his wirey muscles. He wears a pair of glasses that he does not actually require, he will not part with them on his life (more on that in his background). Personality: One could say that Darrell is determined, others perhaps may say fanatical, still others may say slightly off kilter. Whatever people may say of Darrell, or Pidge as he is referred to, he has a sharp mind and a forthright spirit. He is quick to pick a fight, but he also knows when he is outmatched. A guy his size hasn't lived all these years as an Arusian refugee by being foolish. Background notes: When the Drule overtook Planet Arus, Darrell was only a toddler. His parents took him to one of the evac ships and sent him with his brothers and sister to flee. His parents stayed and took up arms against the invasion force along with the rest of the resistance, never to be heard from again. His grandmother took them all and agreed to watch over them. It was only a matter of time before the Drule caught up with the refugee camps on the surrounding planets and moons, five years from the original mass exodus. In one last fit of desperation his grandmother tried to scatter the children, but Darrell's brothers and sister, the memories still fresh from the exodus, took up arms in futility. Darrell's grandmother took Darrell to her and pleaded, "Fly away from here my young Pidgeon. Fly away and never look back. You must become strong and fight someday. Your time will come to help liberate Arus." She gave him a small bag and hid him inside a cargo hold of an older refugee ship. Time passed by slowly for young Darrell. He was too frightened to eat or sleep, he just listened. He heard people die all around him. He heard the scoring of the air as laser bolts ripped through the ship. Some time passed and the noises stopped. He cralwed out from his hideaway and tried to take all that he found in. People lay dead as far as he could see. He found his grandmother lying lifeless on the ground, an old flachette gun in her hand. He suddenly became numb and picked up the gun from her death grip. He walked outside of the old ship and came face to face with a man with one eye. Darkness overtook him. He awoke in a ship full of several races, all wearing a brand he had never seen before. He looked up quizically and saw the man he nearly ran into before he lost consciousness. "Get up ya frail shrimp." He grunted through gritted teeth. Darrell just looked up at him and stood up, weakly. His stomach growled and he doubled over in pain, "Aye, ya haven't eaten in several days. Why you look as white as a ghost. Eat this and get some water in ya." With another grunt the large man tossed Darrell some bread and fruit along with a waterskin. Darrell jumped down and devoured the food like some sort of beast. "Slow down Shrimp or you'll get sick and that won't have done ya any good." Darrell looked up with eyes, strikingly calmer and more focused than before, "They called me Pidgeon." "Did they now? Well Pidgeon just doesn't float off the tongue does it? No, how about Pidge? Yes, Pidge it will have to be. Welcome to the Outer Rim Pirates Pidge!" He bellowed out to the entire bridge, "We're in the market for a new cut-purse, and you look like a likely new candidate." The crew laughed all around him. Pidge, however, did not feel slighted by the laugh, he used the bass sound of the laughter to fill his soul with energy. His grandmother's last words filled him You must become strong and fight someday. Your time will come to help liberate Arus. He just found his ticket. A crew member walked up and dropped a sac by his feet. Pidge looked down and recognized it as the one his grandmother gave him. He looked within it and found a pair of his father's old glasses, the last relic of his dead parents, his birth record, a dagger, and a strange medal of some sort that had moving parts. He would have to investigate this more later. Perhaps his travels would help him to uncover its mysteries. [Fast forward seven years of thievery, combat training and flight training. Pidge spent the time apprenticing under the captain on interstellar navigation, weapons training, firearms training, melee combat, and combat strategy] Name: Allura Player: John Aversin Age: 16 Sex: female Race: Arusian (human, caucasian) Physical Description: 5'5", 120lbs., black hair to past her shoulders, bright blue eyes, athletic build. Before you is an older youth, or perhaps a young woman. In either case, the spirit and persona of this female is juxtaposed by her physical appearance. Standing of average or slightly above average height, the young lady has long, almost jet-black tresses that fall down past her shoulders and frame a well-proportioned and almost beautiful face, within which is set two azure orbs, as bright as her hair is dark. Full lips sit below a slightly narrow nose, all encased in an ivory-skin, smudged only slightly here and there with the evidence of a commonplace existance. Her form is thin, but not waifishly so. Her movements belie a litheness and a comfort with steps both casual and springing. Walk or run, she carries herself, almost by sheer effort of will, with a dignity. It is not an all-pervading grace in her movements, more of an afterthought, always a nobility on the cusp of what she is doing. Loose fitting and simple garments adorn her. Pants and shirt with a jacket, of dark color and masculine cut, take the place of dresses for this one. Her hair is pulled back into a ponytail and held by a simple leather cord. Her dark boots are worn and scuffed with many steps over rough terrain. All in all, she appears a conundrum, being the attractive young woman in men's clothes, and the graceful would-be lady in peasant guise. Personality: A laugh not embittered and rueful is rare, though they do come once in a while. On her best days she smiles, though rarely with the warmth of inner happiness. Her kind words, her actions, and her smiles are bandages and balms for the people, her people. She does what she can, but will it ever be enough? She is calm and intelligent, attempting earnestly to be dispassionate when dealing with any situation, though her young woman's sensitivities make this all the more difficult. When her exterior cracks her temper can be volatile; a cold fury and not a tantrum by any childish standard. Such expenditures of energy are not afforded her. What she has, what little she has, she gives. She reacts poorly to nagging and badgering, as her 'protectors' often give in the form of advice. She can be stubborn, but is more likely to listen to sense so long as it is presented properly. She is less concerned with formality and protocol, less concerned with the means than the ends of a situation. She is also bitterly alone, having many who care for and/or about her, but none who love her. Background notes: After having left the Royal Palace during the Drule attack, Allura has lived under the stewardship of Koran for the past 10 years. He is quite the able teacher and she has become adept under his tutelage in self-defense, administration duties(though obviously on a microcosmic scale), logic, history, strategy and tactics. Her schooling in the more feminine disciplines of music, literature and social hobonobbing and smalltalk are more underdeveloped. She is a quick study, however, and unfortunately her Steward is a teacher reluctant to approve of his ward's 'graduation'. Name: Coran Player: NONE AT THE MOMENT Age: 63 Sex: male Race: arusian Physical Description: 6'3", 210, head shaved clean and typically wearing white robes and carrying an ornate wooden staff. Personality: Coran radiates a warmth and caring in an almost fatherly fasion to those around him. However, beneath that warmth is a will of steel and a sharp, possibly brilliant mind. He is a good teacher, a great tactician, and a strong warrior in his own right. Background: Coran was Royal Advisor to King Alfor. He had reached the position at a fairly young age due to his ability to sharply and clearly state his position on ideas of faith and the state. He was well steeped in both the oral and the written traditions of the Church, and was adeptly trained in the defensive martial arts of the monk class of his early years. When Arus was attacked, it was to Coran that King Alfor left his only daughter. It was perhaps this decision and the events surrounding it that made Coran who he is now. His caretaking of the young Allura taught him patience and opened his heart to the more emotional side of life. The trauma of the time also gave him a keen understanding of survival and, oddly enough, enforced an optimism from years of showing Allura the paths of his faith. Name: Nani Tjerivo Player: NONE AT THE MOMENT Age: 44 Sex: female Race: arusian Physical Description: 5'3", 115, long hair in a single braid that is black and graying. Brown complexion with skin leathery and rough from years as slave. Dark, piercing eyes. Her frame is spare, with taught muscles. She was once likely a great beauty. Personality: Nani is direct and succinct. She is unflinching in the face of horrors the like of which Captain Kogane and most of his men have never seen. She will do what is needed to survive. Background: A promise to her husband before he and her son were taken to be 'processed' into a Drule Android has caused her to do anything and everything to keep herself alive. Before the Drule attack, she was a Data Coordinator that worked in the main command room of the Castle of Arus. She was trained in the psychic sciences, allowing her to intuit streams of data and emotion and adeptly route them to the correct pathways to streamline communication across the planet. Planetary Information GFA File 1123.1232.313.3.32 The Canine The homeplanet of the Canine, Elupier is approximately half the radius of the Earth, and rotates it's star in an oblong manner, making for short, hot days, and long cooler nights. Many of the evolutionary advances of the Canine itself can be attested to this. They are primarily nocturnal, their society running through the darkened hours, and sleeping during the daytime period. Their fur-covered bodies help keep them warmer during the cool nightime, and their senses allow them to move with less light than many humanoid races prefer. The Canine are omnivorous, though meat is a large part of their diet. As a race, they have a highly advanced level of accomplishment. They are approximately twenty years behind Earth in technological advances. The Canine race has only recently ended an internal conflict that lasted for ten solar years (the solar year of their planet is approximately 253 Earth Std days.) This resolution to this conflict, in the opinion of the Galaxy Force Alliance, was unfavorable. It has caused them to completely seperate peaceful ties to at least half a dozen known allied forces. The new ruling factor, the Fenrir, have maintained the heavy handed militaristic bent of the populace brought about by the decade of global warfare. Little communication is now passing from the planet to the GFA, and the only knowledge lies primarily from those few Canine that have fled the planet, seeking asylum. Most of these are from the deposed alliance, the Fang of Light. They had shied away from the stark might-makes-right approach of the Fenrir, and had a strong sense of loyatly and justice with a deeply ingrained code of honor. One notable immigrant is Tybas 'Sven' Silver. He has joined the GFA under strong support by General James Hawkins. Currently, Sven has been reassigned to a deep space scout mission under the command of Captain Keith Akira Kogane. Addition from Silverwing Fox: GFA Combative Database Military Information File: 3267.9909.236.0.42 Race: Canine Classification: Classified Level: Eyes Only For almost 220 years the Canine Race have been often at the front line of interstellar conflict the most recent was the Teralous War, in which the Canine bore the devastating blow from the Iracnids of Teralous with their allies the Drule. Out of the 500 Wolven warships sent to fight in the conflict only 36 escaped destruction. The rumoured reason for their brake away from nearly all alliances was because of their weakened state, however the true reason is when Canine diplomats approached their allies for ships and weapons in order to strike back they where refused. This resulted in the Brake Up a strategic attack on off-world bases on Elupier, what ever was left or could be salvaged was integrated into the military forces. When the Fenrir made a coupe to disband the religious leaders, known as Lupe Paws, the Fenrir stated them selves as the new rulers, and many of the people followed willingly as they needed a strong leader to lead them. However, many didn’t approve of this and the Canine Civil War flared up, it lasted for 20 Solar Years, until those who fought yielded to the Fenrir rule. Thanks to the Fenrir the Canine military forces where rebuilt often using the salvaged off world technologies including a former human ER-6 Hellhound fighter-bomber and the AD-99 TigerClaw class assault tank. Soon with in 10 Solar Year the Canine forces where back up to full force, and struck back at the Irancnids using for the first time their new flag ship the Nobel Savage and their Dreadnaught class ship the Warhammer, delivering a devastating and mass slaughter of the Iracnids, their salvaged units such as the TigerClaw tanks and the Hellhound bombers proved devastating. This action was noticed by the GFA. A notable Canine Marine called Tybas Silver who led his Bloodhounds into an Iracnid barracks witness his own people slaughter the civilians it was revenge for the destruction of the Canines main fleet. Since the attack many civilians and military personnel escaped for asylum, Tybas included, and they told the GFA of what had happened, among the escapees where two squadrons of Archine frigates, a Marine cruiser and a carrier, the Forerunner. The whereabouts of these craft are classified. The Canine race should not be made accountable for their actions, their leaders the Fenrir should be made accountable of the war crimes. The Arusian People Original 'Arusian Survivors' categorized by Name, Age, and Gender. Save for Allura and Coran, arranged by age in descending order. Princess Allura Altaire 16 F Coran 52 M Gera 92 F Turik 69 M Raya (wife of Turik) 67 F Halyk 65 M Mora 65 F Freya(twin sister of Mora) 65 F Alexius(husband of Mora) 64 M Eagdyth 58 F Morgana 52 F Delia 20 F Aeslyn 19 F Cara(sister of Aeslyn) 17 F Shara 13 F Feodor 12 M Agatha 12 F Matilda 11 F Vara 11 F Ana 11 F Bella 11 F Vespia(grandchild of Turik) 9 F Thera 7 F Leah 6 F Hannibal(brother of Leah) 3 F The Last Free People (An excerpt from the personal journal of Turik Dayim) It has been 10 years now to the date since our homeworld was invaded. Perhaps I am getting old and simply wish to relive the good, what little there is of it, left to me in this life. My old calling as a scribe perhaps has returned as well. It has been long since I have penned anything resembling a chronicle. Perhaps this will satiate my appetite, and perhaps it will serve as our legacy as well, for our numbers dwindle and the light of hope in all of our eyes has dwindled with them. Coran and the Princess do as best as they can, but a heavy burden has been laid upon their shoulders; one too great for the both of them to bear, stalwart though their hearts may be. I am no prophet, so I will not speculate upon the future. I am, or was a scribe of the priests and will now chronicle what I may: the free survivors of the planet Arus. Gera was old when the attack came; a great grandmother at the time but still active and as healthy and spry as many half her age. She speaks little of her past, but when she does speak she speaks well, making one think she was highly educated, even nobly born. Though we have all become an extended family, she remains as aloof as possible, though she is extremely helpful. She maintains solitude but is ever available with tidbits of knowledge from all walks of life. Even Coran is rumored to approach her when a problem perplexes him. Raya my wife is a good woman to have put up with me for so long. We married young, before I was even practicing my craft, and so we have lived poorly before, but not so badly as now. Alexius and Mora, and Mora’s sister Freya, were neighbors of ours for twenty years or more. Fate found us all together on an excursion along with our children and grandchildren when the attack came. I believe it to be this reason and this reason alone that allowed us to survive the attack. We were found later in the woods by a small guard accompanying Coran and the child-princess and they graciously took us in. Our sons and most of our daughters fought back in stealth. Along with some of the guards they tried to reclaim the palace and failed. Two daughters, Jora and Jael, survived the longest. Jora went hunting one day, never to return. Jael gave birth to Vespia and promptly sunk into a depression from which she never recovered. Now Raya and I watch over Vespia as if she were our own and can only pray that she inherits a world better than what we can currently offer her. Alexius served in the Arusian police force, along with Halyk though they never knew one another before the attack. Mora and her twin sister, Freya, have always been inseparable even after Mora took Alexius as a husband. Eagdyth was found wandering in the forest a year after the attack. No one knows how she survived or where she had been, but she was taken in without question. She never speaks of anything before the day we found her, though. Morgana was a seamstress in the capital city of Altaire and she managed to escape the attack with a handful of young girls. Those that survived are still living with us now. Delia, Aeslyn and Cara were found with Morgana, who in turn had found them in her exit of the city. Aeslyn and Delia are sisters, daughters of landowner to the west of the city. Since the attack they have become very dependent upon one another and one is seldom found without the other. Delia is a natural with the children and spends the bulk of her time teaching them, even though she is practically still one herself. Shara was but two years old when the attack came, and so, remembers little of it or her parents. Once the cadre of guards secured the princess, they made several runs back into the surrounding area to gather as many people as they could. Shara, as well as Feodor, Matilda, Agatha, Vara and Bella were brought in then, mere babes bereft of their parents and left in the care of strangers for their survival. Vespia and Thera were both born in our exile, and initially were great points of joy. There were more of us then and it seemed we might prosper after all. Vespia’s mother, my own Jael, died soon after. Thera’s mother strayed too near the city once and was attacked by one of the creatures that guard it still. She escaped and returned, but died of the poison in her veins soon thereafter. Gwyneth arrived not long after the attack, found in a sweep by some of the guards. She was young, barely fifteen, but already a natural consoler and teacher. She found her niche in taking care of the children, taking Delia under her wing especially and becoming fast friends with her. She paired off with Galen, one of the guards, and they had a daughter named Leah. It was a difficult pregnancy and a very difficult birth. It took her months to recover and she was warned never to attempt having another child since it would probably kill her. Galen was killed scouting out new passages in the caves, but it was discovered soon after his death that Gwyneth was pregnant again with Galen’s child. The pregnancy was easy, but the birth of young Hannibal three years ago, was fatal to his mother. No more children have been born to us since and young Leah guards over her younger brother Hannibal with feral protectiveness. |

Religion and Politics of Arus All below by John Aversin: Excerpt from A Brief History of Arus, by Neldoth Trapla, Court Historian to King Oswald Altaire (Allura’s grandfather). Politics The political system is broken down into a simple three-fold plan. You have the Nobles, which are further divided into the High Council, with 3 representatives from each of the four Noble Houses of Arus. The House of Altaire was long ago chosen to be the Royal House, and though they hav representatives on the Council, they also have one member of their house as the reigning sovereign. The sovereignty is usually hereditary, but in the case of a monarch having no children, the reigning ruler can designate an heir. Absent a designation, it is assumed that the firstborn child, male of female, is the next monarch. The Four Noble Houses of Arus are Delvian, Ignos, Marren, and of course, the reigning House of Altaire. Their standards are as follows: Delvian: Three Or (Golden-yellow) Pillars upon a Sable(Black) background. Ignos: A Gules(Red) Stag upon an Or(Golden-yellow) field. Marren: An Argent(Silver) Crescent Moon with 4 Argent stars at the cardinal points upon an Azure(Blue) background. Altaire: An Argent(silver) anchor with two silver wings upon a light vert(green) background. The Church is the second branch of the government. It has an Ecclesiastical Council of 12 high priests/priestesses. Whereas the Noble Council is concerned with the macro policies of economics, industry, agriculture and keeping the peace, the Ecclesiastical Council is concerned with education. This essentially gives them control over basic education, as well as the ministries of science and technology. In short, they deal with education and research, while the Noble Council deals with the more practical aspects of government application. The Third branch is that of the Arbiters. This is a Judicial branch in which the members are either barristers(lawyers/counselors) who act as representatives for and against criminals(there are no private attorneys on Arus), or they act as Justicars, or judges, for the courts. The lower courts deal with simple disputes both civil and criminal. The High Court, comprised of 12 members, only deals with matters that arise when there is a conflict between the other two branches of government. The Arbiters have no way of either making or enforcing the laws, but their rulings are always respected and, even if grudgingly, accepted. Even with the existence of Noble Houses and high clerics, there is an equality under the law. Everyone from the current sovereign to the lowest farmer is equally protected and culpable under the law. Entry into the Noble Houses is usually by birth, however, a loyal display can cause the heads of the households to raise someone to Nobility. This gives them really no extra benefits, save from their title. However, the Noble Houses allow them an entry into the upper levels of government, and gives them an ability to influence policy. Entry into the clerical or legal profession is open to anyone who applies themselves in study and dedication. This system, which seems antiquated on one hand, allows the bulk of the people to proceed in their trades at their leisure. Since the Time of Troubles, nigh 1000 years ago, the peace has been kept, bellies fed, children educated, the elderly cared for, in short…..a paradise. Religion “Through Fire and Ice, Wind, Stone and Life I shall pass, Head held high Towards an end to the strife”. -Excerpt from the “Path to Unity” as written in the Prophecy of Peace. The Religion of Arus is ancient and venerable. It traces its origin in its sacred text, The Pax-Tome, often called simply the Tome by those not of the priestly office. It records the Founding of Arus and its early civilization. The government seemed to have always been a monarchy, and to always have had the presence of clerics. Halfway through the book it records the founding of the Arbiters, to act as a balance between the priests and the king. The Tome concerns itself with the people of Arus, almost in an historical sense, but the backdrop is spiritual in nature. It records, almost at times between the lines, the eternal struggle between the forces of good, as personified by Arussa, and the forces of evil, personified in Polluxia. Their cosmic battle, with their angelic and demonic hosts, respectively, have been the cause and/or effect of much of the ups and downs in the history of Arus. It is generally believed that one day, after the Pax is gone, there will be a great battle between the good and the evil, with the outcome that will decide the fate of all of existence. Beliefs vary from nominal to fanatical, but the Pax has existed intact for well over 8 centuries, so it is really not a matter of importance to the average member of the populace. The teachings of the book are interpreted to impact daily lives, and so you have much ritual in the everyday life of an Aran citizen. Washing of the hands, of the body, prayers at mealtimes and at morning, noon and night, customs of marriage and confirmation, and a set of dietary laws are simple traditions that make up a complex and beautiful latticework that is the everyday life of an Arusian. On a side note, it is worth mentioning that a second sacred book, of lesser standing and importance than the Tome, but arguably of more popularity is the Prophecy of Peace. Incidentally, it is not much of a prophecy, and even less about peace. A high priestess of many years ago, Daneia Eldross, is reputed to have had visions her entire adult life. Towards the end of her life several of her acolytes compiled her journal entries into the aforementioned Prophecy. Her views were likely shaped by the events that took place around her life and time. She lived during the Time of Troubles, when Arus was attacked by an enemy from ‘beyond the stars’. At the time, we were internally divided, not at war but in civil unrest. The enemy nearly overpowered us, but we were saved from annihilation. We were able to unify and fight off the enemy. Stories abound, in and out of the Prophecy, of a being also from beyond the stars, sent (or sometimes given) to us to help our fight. He is symbolically represented by the five lions; those flying crafts that are made visible on feast days for the public to see in an effort to rouse their spirits. Whether there is any truth to the story is ultimately unkown. The Time of Troubles certainly happened, but so much of our history was lost at those times. The Prophecies are the only complete source from the time period, and because of their heavy religious slant, must be regarded with due skepticism. Still, most parents tell their children to sleep easily at night, for the lions guard the skies of Arus. Note: An interesting note is the use of the word Vol’tron. In the ancient dialect of Arus it simply means unity(whole, unbroken, but also with the connotation of calmness, stillness and peace), and can be a noun, an adjective or a verb. Unlike so much of our language, it has no gender, is both singular and plural, and retains its form regardless of conjugation when in the verb form. It is of note, really for two reasons. Firstly, it is the only word of the ancient dialect(which the Pax-Tome is written in) extant in the Prophecy of Peace. That alone would set it apart, but the other note is that when used in the Prophecy, and it is used only twice, it is in the context first of a ‘means’ to achieving unity and peace, as well as the end result of that unity and peace. As an old and out of date word, it is noteworthy mainly to scholars like myself, and to the priests and nobles who may use the old tongue in their prayers. It is interesting, nevertheless. I cannot lightly speak on such a weighty topic, but in the interest of brevity, I will attempt to give but the briefest of overviews to our Sacred Scriptures. The Pax-Tome, in its current form, is a combination of five separate books, which was written and compiled(at least in its present form) approximately 1200 years ago. The stories date back further, at least 2500 years ago, but the original manuscripts are long lost to war and time. At the time of its compilation our planet spoke what has been called by scholars our ‘middle’ dialect; that is, a form of our present day language that lay in between the ancient and the modern. The Tome, however, was written in the ancient dialect, and is still read in that tongue today. The five books of the Tome are as follows: The First Flowering, The Books of Laws, the Book of Arbitration, The Book of Chants, and The Book of Struggle. I shall deal with each of these books in greater detail in the following paragraphs. The First Flowering opens with the arrival of humanity upon Arus. Its language is poetic and pastoral and is widely open to interpretation. Some of the more zealous believe that all humanity, indeed all life, was created originally upon Arus. Others believe our people were brought here from beyond the stars, either by other spacefarers, or in a divine fashion. It deals, logistically, with the settlement of the planet, listing the founding of the four great cities and their principal regions. It lays out several stories of the founders of the four cities, the forerunners of the four Noble Houses, and their trials and tribulations in establishing their dynasties. It also deals with the clerics, which in the book seem to have existed as a matter of course, though no mention is made of what their sacred text was, if any, at that time in our history. It likewise paints the vivid, and sometimes fanciful, story of Arussa smiling down upon the people of Arus, sending angels to help in need, as well as Polluxia frowning down, thwarting plans by means of demonic agents. These helps and hindrances can often be explained by scientific phenomenon, or simple human actions, but that does not diminish the faith for the true believers. The Book of Laws is set several hundred years after the founding of the cities. It details, oftentimes in dry fashion, the Laws that govern our everyday life. The economic, probate, and criminal law systems are, in the context of the Book, handed down and enforced via the Noble Houses. The education laws, as well as that dealing with research, medicine and science, are administered via the Ecclesiastical hierarchy. In this fashion, the breakdown of our modern day governmental system was established. It was not without its problems, however, since those days were not the peaceful ones we have known in recent centuries. Bloodshed, sometimes on a grand scale, was not uncommon, and the needs of powerful individuals often eclipsed what was good for the people. This leads us into the Third Book. The Book of Arbitration sees the ancient day formation of the modern branch of the Arbiters. A need was seen (by Arussa, so the literary story goes) for a group of mediators between the two governmental branches, and a class was created just to that extent. This book deals exclusively with the rites, laws, customs and responsibilities of an Arbiter, from the lowest barrister to the highest Justice in the land. The Book of Chants is simply a collection of poetry and song. Much of it is in thanks to Arussa, but a great deal of it is meditative in quality. The songs are meant to make us reflect upon what we have in our lives, from the natural resources of Arus, to brotherhood with one another and all the bounties of civilization. In some places it takes on a cynical note by alluding to the fact that good times will come, but will not last. It is a healthy dose of pragmatic wisdom, but is encased in a very well-written prose. Some mystics believe that the Chants have mystical properties, akin to magic spells of old tales. Some have even claimed to harness such power, but most dismiss these as fanciful claims. Finally, the Book of Struggle finds the planet of Arus in deep turmoil. As it was claimed in the Chants, the people, despite the good things and good system that they have, find reasons and ways to fight each other. In this Book, Arussa and Polluxia take an even more profound role. The allegory in the Scriptures is apparent in that the spiritual struggle is given a more temporal spin. Arus makes contact with Pollux, a closeby planet whose existence was mentioned in old myths, but with whom we had never had any real conflict. In the Book of Struggle these two gods, these two worlds, square off against each other in a longstanding series of altercations. The ending of this Book is not really an ending at all. Both divine beings having made much progress and regress, the story immediately shifts to human characters, working sans divine intervention, and the ‘resolution’ of it all is unresolved. Methinks this story was left open ended because life and time do not end. It is simply reinforcing what we already know: That even with the intervention of powerful outside forces, our individual destinies, and that of our collective whole, remain ultimately in our hands. We have the choice to make tomorrow a paradise or a pit. Note: The conflict between the two planets ended, with never a mention of who was the clear victor. The desire to steer clear of the planet Pollux, which we have done for well over a millennia, likely set the stage for our own isolationist policy. Knowledge even of the existence of Pollux is rare outside scholarly circles. It is more myth than anything else anymore. Indeed, the planet could likely be no more for all that we know. The Prophecy of Peace, while not true Scripture as defined by the clerics of Arus, certainly has a place in our histories and holy writings. Daneia Eldross was a cleric during the Time of Troubles. Historically speaking, this was the darkness before our dawn. We were at a time of global crisis. No wars were being fought, but neighbor would not help neighbor, and brother scoffed at his brothers misfortune. At this time of disunity and weakness, Arus was attacked. I am no historian, but the common tales tell of a force from beyond the stars which wreaked havoc upon our planet. All was no lost, however, for another force from the same far distant reaches came to our aid. Was this Polluxia and Arussa, respectively, that sought a physical end to the centuries old spiritual struggle? Some believe yes, but most believe not. We had known we were not alone in the universe, though we strove as a people to remain separate. Still, complete isolation was, obviously, a foregone conclusion. Actual documents from the time have almost all been lost. Daneia Eldross, so stories say, was given the gift of Prophecy. She would go into a dreamlike state and see what would, or might, come to pass. As a result of this ‘gift’ she was largely sequestered from the populace in a remote monastery and attended to by a small group of devotees. She wrote no words that are recorded in her entire life, but her acolytes would write down what she spoke when she had her visions. On the eve of our celebration, as the Time of Troubles ended, she died. Some say she was poisoned, some say it was natural causes. Some say she was called home because her duty had been done. In any event, her acolytes re-wrote and published the Prophecy in the aftermath of our struggle and, within a hundred years, they were almost on par with the popularity of the Tome. The Prophecy of Peace is middle dialect chant. Its ease of reading is likely one contributor to its popularity. It presents as one uniform, and very long, poem, though advocates of it have, over the centuries and many translations, re-worked it and broken it down into several different sections. The most popular is the ending poetic piece, “Path to Unity”. This final poem is useful on many levels, as a metaphor for individual struggle as well as global. “Guardians of the Skies” is a childrens favorite and paints a fanciful picture of the ceremonial lion-crafts as the title characters. It is often used as a bedtime story for its overtones of protectiveness and safety. Excerpt from Influential Texts of Arus: An Introduction by Sister Moira Do’Dain, Professor of Linguistics and Rhetoric at Marren University. Quotes from the Pax-Tome and the Prophecy of Peace. “Here is thy world, vibrant and vital to you. Part with it not in your time, through wild winters and scorching summers, through days of darkness and egregious evenings. It is yours, to breathe your first and last breath upon. -The First Flowering Eat of the fruits of the trees and vines and all ground-grown things. Eat of the milk and honey, the gifts of your charges. Eat of the flesh of the beasts, so long as they not be killers and slain by your own hand. -The First Flowering It is sometimes the part of a friend to rebuke the folly of a friend. As the sun rises, do set thy mind upon clarity for the day before you. As the sun is at its zenith, do fortify thyself, reflect, and prepare. As the sun sets do make amends, and steel thyself for the following sunrise. Remember thyself by moonlight and starlight, lest you hide from the sunlight. Steal not, but share. Harm not, but heal. Hate not, but love. -The Book of Laws Set thy mind to the Law, regard not station or class, wealth or lack thereof, strength of weakness. Judge all equally. Remember thy ethics in the face of threat and bribery. -The Book of Arbiters Sing a song of praise ye, Pray with thy lips and limbs And thy hands and heart The great bounty is upon us This delightful day. Funeral Prayer Hear the harpist in his dirge for the dead Lament the lost and the life that they led. Marry their memory to the heat of your heart Forget not their failures, their faith and their faults. -The Book of Chants Lo the enemies did come and lay down a furious fire to blanket the land. The hand of Arussa guide us in these dark days. For the fist of Polluxia sits ready to strike. Struggle onward, ever onward. The victory can be yours, good people of Arus, but the yoke must be taken up willingly and with great vigor. Take that yoke upon yourselves, bear down and look up. Grit your teeth but smile, for a new day will dawn for you and yours. -The Book of Struggles Quotes from the Prophecy of Peace Through Fire and Ice, Wind, Stone and Life I shall pass, Head held high Towards an end to the strife -The Path to Unity(excerpt) Sleep soundly, younglings, and sigh not ‘neath the starlight Fear not the fearful, Fret not ‘neath the moonlight Drift dreamily through the long night, the long and dark night For the Lions guard the skies. -Guardians of the Skies(excerpt) Stone is half of us all. From the center of stone we can rebuild. From the strength of stone we can stand tall. Steadfast is the stone, unwavering in it's support of our world. -The Path to Unity (exceprt) ((not by JA)) En vol'tron vi claree, Arus alli guarin, els populen. Arus forgath les vol'tron un varus el rusia. - Vol'Tron Pathos (excerpt) **translation** In unity and clarity we shall defend this planet, these people. Our strength lies together as one in the dance of life. - The Path to Unity (excerpt) Stone is half of us all. From the center of stone we can rebuild. From the strength of stone we can stand tall. Steadfast is the stone, unwavering in it's support of our world. Water is at our feet. It surrounds us and protects us, cools our fevers and protects us from the flame of war. Calming are the waters, and with them we stand unharmed. Life flows from our hands. Come to wrap the universe in its breath, It brings to birth our children and our future. We draw strength from our heart. From it comes the seeds of our knowledge. Fire is at our grasp. With it we will smite what threatens us, Through the flames we will reach without fear. The forge will kindle our hearths, And our right will hold the darkness back. Spirit will unify us all. Reaching out on the winds of the Universe, It brings our hopes to reality and perfection. We look to the wisdom of our dreams, Together shall we keep our hopes and our world. Fear the teeth that grasp the hilt of our vengeance, fear the flames that burn with the cold of our spirit, the venom of our very life, the energy of our storms, and the solidarity of our world. -The Path to Unity (excerpt) Edited by Roadbuster, August 19, 2008, 11:07 am.

Brief Overview DE File 342.1.2.XV,XCFDWIVV The Drule Empire The Drule Empire as it is today started approximately thirty years ago on a planet called D'ruielth in the central sector's Varolin cluster. The planet's inhabitants, a race of reptilian humanoids, had unfortunately found that their planet was on the brink of extinction. Mining, deforestation, atmospheric pollution, industrial waste... the problems built up suddenly within a relatively short span of approximately seventy years. But the people were a tenacious race who did not stand still while their world was consumed. There was a great Technological Revolution that engulfed the world, sending a splay of increased advancement, especially in the Biological, and Cybernetic fields of science. Through an infusion of these sciences, they had begun to achieve an early start into the edges of space exploration of their local cluster. It was soon after their earliest exploratory missions that they came upon the Others. The homeworld of the Drule was already dying, it's people living in artificially contained bio-units were wracked with diseases that ate away at their bodies. The Others possessed a unique grasp on a Meta-science that could help the Drule to survive, but they refused to share their secrets with the early explorers. Even when faced of a planet that was soon to die, the selfish outsiders withheld the technology and power that could easily keep the people of D'Ruielth alive. So, the Drule fought for their lives. To boost their own abilities, they globally adopted Cybernetic technology to replace what disease had destroyed. They became powerful warriors, united in a single goal. Soon, the Other's were forced into a treaty with the Drule. Their was a sudden leap in advancement that made the Technological Revolution that came before it appear to be little more than a stagnant period in history! Unfortunately, the war with the Others drained D'ruielth to the point where it was no longer salvageable. The Drule saw that the only way to continue their survival was to expand beyond the confines of their dead planet. A great starship was built from the remains of the planet. It's size and shape were that of a small planetoid, and it was dubbed 'Kyrliusst' which in the Drule tongue meant 'the Doom of our Planet.' Since that time, other races have come to call it simply 'Planet Doom.' This is where the Drule Empire began, engulfing other races efficiently with staggering displays of power. Within the first ten years, six other worlds had fallen to Planet Doom and it's Armada. Three of those worlds swore fealty. As a sign of their alliegance, these worlds conscribed a percentage of their populace to the Drule Empire. These conscribed people sacrificed some part of their biological makeup for Drule Cybernetic enhancement. The Cybernetics not only enhanced their own power, but it allowed the Drule some certainty of allegiance through the implanted circuitry. Every Drule commander has the capability to activate the pain receptors in whatever Cybernetics are around them. Such pain can vary in strength from a slight sting, to a surge that will burn out the soldier in question. Soon, the Drule Empire grew in strength to such a degree that other races began to seek them out, joining them willingly as they spread out their dominion. Now, the Drule Empire is the strongest force in the outer rim of our Galaxy, and continues to expand their rule with the determination that has saved them from extinction. There have been twenty two planets and thirty races that have sworn full allegience to the Drule and now operate as it's soldiers. The original people of D'ruielth are rare, and often inhabit seats of high power. The current Emporer, Lord Z'ayrkon, is one of he original blood. |

Drule Android Series 2 ****** This is the Android seen breifly in the Cathedral of Lions during the Prelude. They were in primary useage during the short conquest of Arrus. Tech note:These outdated android designs were used primarily before the forceful takeover by the then-general Z'ayrkon. Their primary weaknesses included linear thinking, no vocal capabilities, and limited terrain variablity. History note: The Series 2 Drule android was the first widely used android trooper in the Drule Empire. Designed by an offworld terrain company, it was put into very successful use during the first five years of exploritory conquest. However, as the expansion began to include worlds of larger size, higher technological capability, and more vastly varied terrain, it became apparent that the Android model was due to be redesigned. Approximately one decade ago, General Z'ayrkon used the materials collected from a string of highly successful conquests and began the arduous task of redesigning this older model. Now, the Series 2 are commonly seen on outlying Drule providences in use by minor Barons of poorer estates. Description: The series 2 appeared as humanoid standard. Two arms, two legs, two optics. Flat black armor plating covered the arms, legs, and torso. An ammo pack was attached to the back that also contained general sensor equipment. The head could be mistaken from a distance as a helmet type. Two large black optical bubbles with a breather unit on front. Armament: The standard Series 2 androids carried hand guns that were holstered on the upper thigh. These were semi-automatic hard projectile weapons. They also had a saber blade attachment on their left forearm for closed combat. However, their movement was not as fluid as a skilled swordsman's. Later on, there were mounts made to fit heavier armaments, rifles, mortars, rocket launchers, etc. onto the Series 2 frame. However, these armaments severely limited the mobility of the Android. Other Equipment: The Series 2 had general scanners with a limited range. Also, the Androids were designed to operate under a variety of extreme conditions. They were highly resistant to heat, cold, corrosives, water-tight, and could operate in the vacuum of space. Armor: The black plate was made of a plastisteel alloy and was highly resistant to physical damage from normal means. However, a higher level charged weapon or laser blast would only be deflected if it were a glancing blow. Also, a solid hit from a non-charged high speed projectile to a join, or non-plated area could result in damage. The neck area was particularly vulnerable, and it's wires could be severed relatively easily, even by a standard blade. |

Drule Android Series Z-4 ****** This is the Android first seen attacking Princess Allura, as well as the ten seen from a distance by the crew at the crash site. It is the primary model seen during game. Tech note: "These things are monsters! They far outstrip the old Series 2 in versatility, stability, and sheer brute power! This is the 4th model developed by Z'ayrkon, and the one that has been in production and use for the past year now. Weaknesses? Well, they're not totally invulnerable, but they sure make a good try at it. These Androids talk and think for themselves, allowing them to achieve a sort of ranking among their forces. Plus, these Androids have far clearer processing capability. Their tactical prowess is now combined with an improvisational ability that rivals conscious thinking! No one outside of the Drule knows how Z'ayrkon did it, but these monsters are a force to be feared." History note: This is the fourth generation of Android outfitted by Z'ayrkon's scientists and witches. Even starting in the early Z-1 series, the differences in abilities from the Series 2 were great. The reaction timing on these new generation Androids was quicker, smoother, and more intuitive. It wasn't until the Z-2 series that the drastic change in overal shape of the Androids took place. Since then, most older series were immediatly scrapped and refitted when a new series was released. You can still find some old Z-1 and Z-2 models, but they're very rare. Many say it was the advances made in these models alone that won Z'ayrkon the Drule empire. Description: The Z-4 series is only marginally humanoid, meaning they have two arms, two legs, a body, and a head. However, vast changes in proportion have added stability and functionality where the older series 2 lacked them. From the ground up; the feet are tri clawed and wide. There are retractible talons to allow them to grip, as well as gravity pad and suction devices that allow them to travel almost any solid surface, in any direction. The legs use a recurved joint system, giving them a thigh, mid-leg, and fore-leg. This provides for greater overal stability on unstable ground, and when using heavier weaponry. The waste is fully pivotable, and can swivle in a full 360 degree capacity, allowing the Android to fire it's weapon in any direction at any moment. The chest and torso are both wide and heavily armored. All primary brain functions are encased in these pieces, allowing the robot to continue operation if the head is removed. Basic scanner equipment has also been moved into the center cavity. The arms are longer, and almost ape-inspired. The forearms are thick and heavy, with built in weapons systems that sport blades, grappling equipment, automatic charged blast weapons, and low yeild laser weapons. Extra targetting equipment is included in the forearm as well, to decrease the system demands on the central system's CPU. It also allows both sets of arm weapons to operate independantly if needed. Their hands have six digits, two sets of opposible fingers. The arms length allows for them to be used to aid movement, and also gives them more swinging power allowing for an overall stronger Android. The head unit is really little more than an optical mount. It appears like an oval head that is hung low on a neck of wires jutting out almost horizontally from the top of the torso. On it are three wide pale optical spots. These cover a 270 degree radius, and can operate with a variety of wavelengths. The overall Android comes in standard flat black, but can be colored, often in indication of higher rank or of different functionality. Armament: All of the Z-4's standard weapons are lodged in the forearms. These units are very modular, and can be altered according to need. However, they come standard with a semi-automatic charged projectile weapon, a low yeild laser module, and a retractible blade. Other Equipment: Non-standard equipment that can be arm-mounted can include, but is not limited to, flame throwers, mini-grenade launchers, grappling launcher/line/hook, gas guns. Also, there is a mount for shoulder attachments that can allow for heavier weapons. Rifles, Mortar Launchers, Rocket Launchers. Or alternately, extra equipment can be mounted, such as more powerful scanning equipment. Armor: The black plate used for the torso is heavier than the light plastisteel alloys used on the Series 2. It's look and feel is almost that of solid cast iron. However, it's durability is such that little short of a direct rocket impact will crack it in a single hit. The rest of the Android is covered in tight fitting plastisteel plating. Joints can still be considered a weakness, but they are far harder to damage than the Series 2. The Androids retain the durability versus extremem environments, and combines it with an ability to move quickly, without slowing pace through drastic changes in surface terrain. |

Castle of Arus General Notes: The castle was ancient, built far before the 'modern times' of prosperity on the Planet Arus. In fact, it was dated back many centuries beyond the last wars. Some scholars think the castle may be well over three thousand years old. Indeed, a castle like this has many quirks and secrets. Stories abound of restless spirits, and the mythologies of the great Lions of Arus is well displayed throughout the castle in many of the carvings and decorations. However, the castle is considered one of the true Wonders of Arus in it's own right, even without taking into consideration the Cathedral of Lions which is said to be hidden in the depths of the ancient keep. The walls were made of metals that are rarely composed these days, giving them a texture and heft that were close to smooth marble, with a resilience of hardened steel. While more modern materials would both be lighter, and perhaps even more durable inch per inch, the thickness engendered by the Castle Walls made them nigh impregnable to most typical forms of armaments, even from the days of wars. A great deal of effort has been put into the maintaining of the great structure, as it is the house of the Royal family. However, even the most knowledgable architects are kept from knowing the entire layout of the castle. Each was assigned a section to be specifically intimate with, and often they would admit that even within those confines, they often would find a surprise feature that was unknown to them. Brief Overview of the Castle Grounds: A moat surrounds an outer wall which is roughly ten meters wide with thick walls (nearly 1 meter per side) The wall is four stories tall, with ten five story towers. Two of the towers flank the main entry and drawbridge, while the other eight are placed equidistance around the castle. Inside the outter wall is an open expanse of fifty meters. On the other side of the outter couryard there is the inner wall. It stands six stories tall, with five, eight story towers. The wall is only five meters wide. One the opposite side there is a twenty five meter couryard, filled with parks and buildings housing various workshops and ammenities. Across from this couryard the castle itself lies. The Outer Wall: The central Castle is surrounded by two walled courtyards. The furthermost wall stands four stories tall, and is the thicker of the two. There are ten towers, each stretching one story above the wall itself. The wide interior floors of the walls are kept mostly free, containing only hallways that stretch between the towers. This wall, during times of war, would have been the first defense. On top of the wall, great cannons were placed to the sides of either tower. The cannons there now are only for historic show, and are non-operational. The towers are open to public tours and give a stunning view of the city below. The Outer courtyard: Inside the first wall there is an open courtyard. Parades, Royal Speeches, Funerals, Affairs of State are all held here. The Police Force uses the grounds yearly for marching regiments in display for the viewing public. There are a few buildings, mostly for storage areas and hookups for energy and water where needed. The Inner Wall: The secondary or inner wall is thinner than the outer, but also considerably taller. It reaches six stories tall, and only has five towers, each stretching an extra two stories above the wall. The inner floors of this wall were often connected directly to shops in the inner couryard. Often, these hallways were used to travel from one shop to another, however, the top two floors were kept clear, to allow for continued 'security' in the Castle. The towers on the inner wall were not open to the public. They too bore cannons to either side of the great towers, and along the walls in between, but all were non-operational replicas. The inner courtyard: The inner courtyard of the Castle was an area filled with shops and ammenities for both visitors as well as for the castle staff and royal family. The area held tight security maintained by the Castles police force, but often open to the public. The stores and shops there were known for exquisite goods and services, and some of the finest restaurants on Arus could be found lining the inner wall. The grounds itself were kept immaculate, with beutiful and peaceful gardens and fountains. The castle itself was surrounded by a miniature moat, only about three meters across, which was filled with marine life for visitors to watch. Some of the offerings of the Castle of Arus: The castle itself was only open to the castle staff, or through passes that were available to the public, but only given on very limited and restrictive basis. Within the Castle Walls, beside the residency of the Royal family, court, and staff, one could find the Great Library, a multitude of indoor and outdoor gardens, several Royal Museums, ballrooms, theaters, and several smaller libraries and entertainment areas. Of course, there was also rumored to be the great Cathedral of Lions hidden away somewhere in the massive expanses of the Castle. |

Tapestries of the Lions In the Great Hall below ground that leads to the Cathedral of Lions, the final fifteen meters contains a series of overhanging tapestries. Walking up to the tapestries, you sould not see a seam or opening. However, upon touchning them, it can be found that the material is surprisingly light and pulls aside in the very center allowing one to pass unhindered. Each of the tapestries is three meters apart from each other, and covers the entire hallway, about 15'x 15' The tapestries appear as follows: The Blue Tapestry The lion of the Waters The shimmering scene is the first of the great lions, the russian blue cat had short hair and a strong build. It sat in the center, around it the tapestry gave the impression of the depths of the ocean waters. Fish surrounded the cat as it sat peacefully in balance near the center. The Yellow Tapestry The lion of the Sands It was embrodered with golden thread. The symbols and shapes on it reminded the humans of the ancient Egyptian lands from Earth. Great desert scenes with hieroglyphic symbols etched in sands that almost seemed to flow and shift as the flashlights caught them. In the center the cat was in a heavy crouch with it's head lowered to the ground, ready to pounce. It had a yellowish orange coat, brindled with brown stripping that ran down it's spine. It's back was wide and strong. It's face bore large sabre-tooth like fangs, and it's eyes were yellow gold and seemed to shimmer on the tapestry. If you didn't know better, you would have sworn parts of the tapestry were carved out of rock, and parts made out of sand! The Red Tapestry The lion of Flame The next curain was a deep dark mixture of black and red. Streams of molten lava were shown against a fiery background. The borders seemed almost metallic, starkly mechanical against the violent fury of nature depicted on the tapestry. In the center was a lean, short nosed cat. It stood alert. It's eyes staring out to the horizon. The reddish brown coat on the cat was short, with black stripes down it's sides. It's legs and tail were long and lean. It appeared ready to pounce at any moment. The Green Tapestry The lion of Life The next tapestry was emerald green, and stunning in it's sharp clarity, even with the scant light from the flashlights! Green fields, forests of trees, all filled with people, animals, and life! A warm sun shone down on a idealic land where all creatures lived in harmony and happiness. The cat in the center matched the statue that pidge had seen. It's thick fur was a strange mottled brown color. Tufts of fur covered it's neck, and it's joints, as well as the end of it's long tail. It sat with it's held held up to the sunlight, it's green eyes glittering in the warmth. The Black Tapestry The Spirit of Arus This final curtain seemed to almost soak in the very light and gave the impression of open space stretching out infinitely and sparkling with the diamond pinpoints of stars. Across the bottom was the horizon of the planet as it would be seen from space, and sitting on it was a large, and powerfully built cat. It's fur was black as night, and it sat with it's head held high, watching over the planet below. It had a scruff of longer fur around it's neck, and across it's chest was a deep reddish brown patch of fur, almost in a cross strecthing up it's neck, down it's belly, and across it's broad chest. It's golden eyes and strong jawed face somehow seemed born with deep wisdom and compassion. Above all the others, it's build reminded the humans of a tiger or lion on Earth. It was without a doubt the largest of all the cats. |

The Cathedral of Lions The Cathedral of Lions was built after the Lions were originally created and had already fought off the invasion forces. At that time, the central government was still being formed, and Castle Arus and it's accompaning city did not exist. The Cathedral itself was always underground. The entrace to it is lined by five statues, each representing one of the five great cats chosen for the lion's forms. Following them is a hallway with the Tapestries of the Lions. They are seemless, and cover the expanse of the hallway. However, when you approach them, you can find a opening leading through each to the next consecutive Tapestry. Finally, the hallway tunnel ends, there a wall carved in scenes of the great cats hunting and killing prey. These are scenes artfully recreated to remind us again of the loss of life that the extinction caused by our own wars has created. Never again would these cats roam naturally across Arus, their power and grace is lost in the ashes of war. In the center of this carving there is a set of large doors. They are very plain, made of heavy oak and bound in metal. There are two brass feline heads with knocker rings in their mouths. These door always and forever remain unlocked. Beyond the doors is the entry hall. This hall runs smoothly and circularly around the center of the complex. It is thirty meters between each arch, which is five meters in width. The first level has five arches, each leading into the center of the Cathedral. From the first section, there is also stairs leading up to a second level. This second level contains a wide balcony from where visitors can oversee the Cathedral floor and from where the computer and powered components of the Cathedral, everything from lighting to the power for the central column, are controlled. Beyond the five archways lies the huge central room. It is pentagonal, and is approximately six stories tall at the center. The walls of both this central room and the entry hall are decorated in carven stone, with a highly gothic sense of scrollwork. The lighting of the halls, which comes from scones on the wall, simulates the glow and flicker of torchwork. However, the main lights of the room come from the glasswork windows above. On each of the five panels, one of the Lions of Arus is depicted. A brilliant light, equivalent to sunlight, filters through the stained glass, giving ample lighting to the area below. The central are of the Cathedral is dominated by a large central, pentagonal 'column.' Each of the five sides is 5 meters across, is decorated differently, and has a smooth stone pedastal that rises waste-high to the side of the central 'door.' These doorways (described below) are gateways used to travel to the various docking ports of the Lions. Little remains known of the technology that enables the almost instantaneous travel from the CoL to the destination. Many scientists have conjectured that it is in fact based almost soley on arcane magic, rather than relying primarily on technological means. Regardless, when activated by placing the proper key in the proper pedastal, the gateways will open, allowing the pilot to step through them. The keys are also transposed and returned to the user, closing the gates behind them. Each gateway leads from the Cathedral of the Lions to the appropriate bunker for the Lion. From within the Cathedral, these are the only destinations that can be chosen. However, from the bunkers, the gates can be used to travel from one bunker to another. It is said that a key-bearer can choose to bring someone through the gateway with them, but no one has ever been willing to risk the possiblility of drowning, being choked by vines, burning to death, having the flesh scoured off of them, or loosing their very souls to give it a try. The Blue gate The surface of the Blue gate seems to be made of a blue marble, flecked with sparkling crystals in very smooth, flowing curves. As light plays over the marble, it easily and artistically evokes a feeling of the deepest oceans, and has often been commented to have a very calming, soothing effect. The door in the center is wide, but basically man-sized. When inactive, the surface appears to be made of smooth, clear gems portraying a cascading curtain of bubbles. Upon activation, the bubbles seem to spring to live, dissipating in a flurry into the dark smooth surface of deep water beyond. As one peers into the dark waters, the filtering light from the CoL gives glimpses of marine life of all natures swimming just beyond the portal of water. The Blue gate is cold to the touch, almost freezing. The proper bearer of the key will only feel it as a calming cold. The Green gate The surface of the Green gate is a deep swirl of green, smooth and carved with two spiraling columns to either side of a doorway covered by a wrought iron gate. The gate is hammered into curls evoking a sense of natural vines. Beyond the gate, the green marble has carvings of vines and plants. Leaves and bark are done with painstaking detail and almost seem as if they were alive, if not for the consistant green marble of their surface. These carvings also span around the doorway, in a flowing depiction of plant life from across Arus. When activated, the plants beyond the gate seem to quiver slightly, and then become living vines. The warmth of sunlight filters through them, and the smell of damp, musty earth wafts out richly from beyond. The plants are as strong as iron, but will allow the rightful bearer of the key to pass with the lightest of touches. The Red gate The most jarring of the gates, the Red gate is made of sharp, jagged edges and rough dark marble mixed with volcanic rock. As light passes over the rock, veins of red crystal absorb and reflect it slowly, giving the illusion of crawling veins of magma across it's surface. The doorway is a mass of flames carved in marble and crystal. Even when inactive, the gate is warm to the touch. When activated, the doorway bursts into a momentary flare of flame, followed by a simmering curtain of slow moving lava. The heat from this gate can be felt across the room, but to the rightful bearer of the key, it will never cause burns. The Yellow gate The columns surface here appears to be made of seperate blocks of limestone and granite. The yellowish, dusty surfaces are covered in row upon row of hieroglyphic writings. The writings are known to some few, and some translations have been made over the centuries. Oddly though, the wordings on these translations seem to differ greatly, depending on the person doing the translating. Some conjecture that the writings themselves reflect what is within a person, become richer and more detailed when read by someone of strong character. Of course, many of the translators did not appreciate these hypothesis, and suggested merely that the differences were because of dialect and age of material. In the center of the doorway, there is a carving of a cat dressed in ancient robes and clothing akin to those of the lost desert civilizations. Upon activation, the cat dissolves into a flowing curtain of sand. Heat radiates from the sand, as if it had been baking in the hottest of kilns. To a non-key bearer, the sand is said to be able to scour the flesh from bone, however, to the rightful bearer, it feels warm and soft, flowing and clensing. The Black gate The Black gate is smooth and practically featureless when compared to the others. Inside the smooth black marble, there are veins of silver etchings. Within it you can find dialects and writing styles of every civilization known to Arus, and then some that are lost throughout time. However, translation of these writings has proven impossible. As you try to focus in on the writing, it seems to shift and change, sometimes disappearing, sometimes switching language completely. With the writings, pinpoints of brilliant light reflect back from small flecks of brilliant crystals scattered among the writings. When the gate is active, the center simply seems to vanish. A low moaning can be heard, as if a wind from a far off place. There is a slight pull, as if a vacuum is suddenly draggin the air and light into the dark void beyond. It is unknown what happens to those not chosen by the lions who dare to enter this portal. They are never heard from again. Edited by Roadbuster, August 19, 2008, 10:34 am.

Lion Pilot Armor and Weapons Handgun Appearence: double decker barrel with mini-stock underneath. Primary color is black, secondary matches the Lion or Den it came from. Closest I can find to it would be a Quake 4 Marine Blaster - Fires charged projectiles at semi automatic rate. Standard clip holds 50 shots of 1cm metallic spheres. The charging process allows for firepower at 1.25 the rate of a Standard GFA weapon. - Fires laser based energy, effective distance of 200 meters. The energy pack can fire one shot per second for up to thrity seconds before needing time to recharge at a rate of thirty seconds per shot. - Silencer mode capable for both outputs. Doubles recharge time and uses more of energy pack. - Energy pack recharges automatically. Would need severe usage to deplete it completey (at which time it would need to be replaced) - Feeds targetting information into a sight marker on the Pilot Helmet's HUD. Heavy Rifle Appearence: Smoothed down low profile. Lighter than the GFA Class H99s, though comprable in overall length. There is a scope smoothed down along the top, that feeds information into the Pilot Helmut's HUD. Primary color is silver, with secondary matching the Lion or Den it came from. - Fires laser based energy at a distance of 1 mile maximum in standard atmosphere. - Fires projectile ammunition up to a fully automatic rate. Standard clip holds 150 shots. Slugs can be auto-armed with respective lion's specialty. (ie: energized rounds from Black Lion, Acids from Green, Ice from Blue, Heavy Rounds from Yellow, and Incindary from Red.) - Silencer mode capable on semi-automatic or lower settings. Pilot Armor and Pressure Suit. - Light armor plating over chest, vitals, arms and legs. - Appears as armor plating over thin mesh pieces. Plates are light enough that they do not restrict movement, but strong enough that they help to deflect weapon based energy and projectile weaponry (note: only in glancing blows. A direct hit can still penetrate) - Each armor is coded to match the lions in style and textures, though the Den equipment can override this in favor of a new color scheme. The three panelled helmet and the armor are primarily the secondary color and texture of the appropriate lion, with piping to reflect the primary colors. - Plating can deflect minor physical blows and decent levels of radiation. - Helmet is designed in a three part 'petal' formation. One plate locks over the top of the head and to the back of the neck, and two lock to either side joining the first at the back of the cranium. All three are short in length and do not impeded the primary field of vision. They lock together and into the suit's neck. - The open area of the helmet is covered with a clear sheilding that allows the optic area to boast a very advanced targeting system that reacts to wearer’s optical movement and can lock onto multiple targets in coordination with many standard weapons and weapon emplacements. This feature also has a scanning overlay that can detect biological and material composition within visible distance. The suit also links back to the data collected and shared by the Lion's heavier scanners as well, giving the pilot as much information as possible. The sheilding also produces a 'virtual' field of vision, allowing for greater clarity as well as reduced visual blockage. The virtual image can be altered to allow for night vision, or spectromic scanning. - Contained air packs, environmental controls, standard targeting overlays, advanced scanning overlays, and filtration. - Optional backpack contains 25’ microfiber line with 300 lb test and mini grapple, basic med supplies, one week of dry rations, outside lock for rifle, 5 handgun clips and 2 rifle clips and 1 long knife. tba in future: Heavy Blaster Flame Thrower Long Sword Short Knife Grenade Launcher Edited by Roadbuster, August 19, 2008, 10:43 am.

The Smelter of Flame The roaring sound that echoes in the heart of a volcano is something that reaches in to your very bones. It's a grinding, heavy feeling as rock is melted and slides in a molten semi-liquid form across rock. The heat is astonding and staggering, and that is what bombards anyone stepping out of the flames of the portal from the Cathedral of Lions and into The Smelter of Flame. The Smelter of Flame is made from an inactive volcanic chain about eight hundred kilometers west of the Castle Arus. It was built on a crack that reaches down for many kilometers into the crust of the planet, and uses a complex series of machines to keep the surrounding volcano chains on the verge of activity. It is the immense powers generated by these that feeds the Smelter and it's manufacturing machines. The great crater is enormous, hundreds of meters across, and hundreds upon hundreds of meters deep. Smoke billows above it, but a series of active ventalation systems as well as static shielding keeps it from reaching the floor level. Surrounding the floor platforms is also the bubbling flow of heated magma. Make no mistake, the heat nor the magma are artificial in any way. In fact, the air temperature is controled by the system of ventilation and shielding to allow it to be bearable to human life. The Red Lion also seems to confer a resistance, making the temperatures actually comfortable to it's current pilot. The platforms, raised at various levels, are made out of outcroppings of volcanic rock, pebbled and porous, dark black in color. A series of walkways connects each platform. The lighting of the Smelter is very dim, coming only from the red hot heat of the magma itself. It is enough to reflect off the massive amounts of machinery that surround the walls of the crater, and are also plunged deep into the heart of the magma itself. On the platforms storage modules are made out of outcroppings of rocks. A steaming geyser allows for the main tactical display, a holographic generation unit, though there are smaller computer modules with more standard type screens embedded in the rocks. The computer systems of the Smelter of Flame are based around the scientist, Dr. Phinneus Garamont, Sr. His specialties were in chemical engineering, high tech manufacturing and chemistry. He had been responsible for many of the weapons placed in the various Lions years before. The image the computer generates is that of a dancing flame with a vaguely human form. The computer only refers to itself as 'Flame.' It's systems are attuned to the collection of metallurgical and mineralogical information from across Arus. It contains the capability to create any known seperate machine part known to Arusian science, and also contains data on the mineralogical composition of materials found around the planet and its moons. In fact, the Smelter is able to replicate metals within the depths of the flows of lava. It was thought that if planetary destruction occurred, the Smelter could become the base of recreating neccessary manufacturing resources for the Planet. The machinery can be used to create refined materials out of the compounds generated from below, allowing the Smelter to create sheets of any metal or non-natural material within its forges. The exit for the Lion is hidden only by the billowing smoke of the volcano. |

The Cave of Life Upon stepping through the vine-portal that leads hear, one is instantly assailed by the smell of life. Dirt, grass, trees, outdoors. It's the smell of life, the smell of growth, the smell of death, all mixed together in the humid dampness of the earth. The Cave of Life was built in a giant among giants. It's location is in the deepest of the Heavy Wood Forest, where thick squat trees of enormous girth grow. Even so, the bole from which the Cave of Life was crafted was increased ten fold by means of both magical and scientific processing. The trees of the Heavy Wood average about hundred meters in width, but only reach about two hundred meters high. While tall, it is very squat in comparison to the breadth of their base. The wood is very strong, as strong as many of the weaker metals, and was once used by indigenous tribes for weapons according to archaelogical digs. The Forest itself is just south of the equator of the Planet Arus, and is the furthest of all the Lion's dens from the Castle of Arus, nearly two thousand kilometers due South. The Cave of Life spans three hundred meters, and is only one hundred meters high, having had the top part removed when it was crafted into a hangar for the Green Lion. For all intents, one can only describe it as being inside the bole of a massive tree... far more massive than any tree ever known. Great heavy roots stretch down hundreds of meters apart on the walls that surround hangar, with sunlight and warmth filtering down between tubers and roots that easily reach twenty meters in thickness in some places. Throughout the great tree-cavern hang vines trailing down from above, some are thick, some were no more than clusters of whispy feathery materials. These vines often are moist, and add to the humidity of the cave, giving it the unmistakable feel of a deep jungle. The hangar is open to the outside, moreso than most of the others, and all manner of life inhabit it's warrens. Birds, butterflies, insects, even small mammals at times make this place their home and refuge. The floor itself seems a stark contrast to the natural environs of the Cave of life. While the levels of the floor vary greatly, making smaller and larger platforms all around the Cave, the surface itself is perfectly smooth. It is covered with a clear plastic, to help seal off the seperate sections of the odd hexagonal grid. Each hexagon is exactly three decimeters across. At a glance, these hexagonal portions appear to be laquered wood, each a different color from the other. However, closer examination will show that the sections actually are a composite of seeds. Each section has a different seed from the planet's flora. Each section is also roughly ten meters in length, filled with seeds. These sections were made and sealed as a last line of defense against the possible outcomes of planetary war. Were a time to rise, as was prophecized, when Arus would face near annihilation, then these seeds could be used to repopulate the folliage of the planet. Some sections of the platforms, of course, contain equipement and computers required for the surveyal of Planet Arus, the retreival of genetic data, and the storage and creation of equipment for the pilot of the Green Lion. This equipment always takes the form of more natural features, a table made from roots and limbs that radiates holographic projections, a waterfall that conceals equipment synthesizers and storage, and furthermore. The computer systems of the Cave of Life are based around the scientist, Dr. Phylliora Hentragos. Her specialties were in biology, botany, chemistry, and spiritualism, and she was an anchorhead of not only the Cave of Life's creation, but of the earlier creation of all the Lion's empathy systems. She appears through a hologram of floating flower petals in a human form. The computer often only refers to itself as 'Life.' It's systems certainly echo this name, as they are attuned primarily to the chemical and biological makeup of the planet Arus. Beyond any other system, the Cave of Life in conjunction with the Green Lion have a capability to sense, discern, and pattern any biological signals planetwide. It could be used to pinpoint a specific butterfly that was on the opposite side of the planet based off the data from one particle of dust from the butterfly's wing. It's databanks contain genetic data on every species known to Arus for the past one thousand years, and is constantly scanning evolutionary changes within the planets atmosphere. It contains the data and capability to process any natural chemical composition in seconds, splicing and recreating chemicals required for life and death to aide in the systems of the Green Lion. The exit for the Lion is hidden by a wall of vines, which parts upon activation of the Green Lion. |

The Waters of Peace Stepping through the frozen bubbles of the gateway to the Waters of Peace, one will often undergo the eerie sensation of being plunged into the icy depths of the waters of the grat Arusian Seaway. However, instantly, they will find themselves safe and dry in the massive dome of the Waters of Peace. The Waters of Peace are constantly filled with soft gurgling sounds from the bubbling curtain that creates the outer shell of the dome. The scene is colored in soft blues and green light that eminates from the great bubble curtain and the floor is decorated as the floor of the ocean. Highly sophisticated fields of energy even allow some of the softer plant life to act as though they were submerged in water, flowing too and fro in a gentle sway. Great artificial Anemonies, sea grasses, and shellfish are scattered across the uneven floor between barnacle covered patches and softer sandy patches. The dome wall stretches nearly three hundred meters across and is created by bubbles of hardened energized water that cycle around the Waters of Peace. Most of the bubbles are small, ranging from one decimeter to one meter in width. However, there are several areas which large smooth panes dominate the view. These free floating panes allow a window into the dark depths of the Ocean of Arus and the life that exists there. They can also alter their surface to reflect and act as giant monitors, if need be. The storage of the Waters of Peace can be found in various oversized clam and oyster shells that are scattered across the floors. There are also pools of water, which are cycled and have the saline removed, for drinking or for submersion. Great artificial anemonies allow for soft seating and relaxation. There are also several anemonies that are outfitted for holographic projection of tactical maps. The Waters of Peace were designed by Dr Soolien Jeviriot. She was a specialist in physics and chemistry as well as oceanographic studies. She perfected the hard water technology that the Blue Lion uses, as well as doing primary work on all the power systems and links within the Lion systems. The computer previously referred to itself as 'Water', though now through pilot command refers to itself as Verisu the Canine God of water, whose blue star helps guide sea bound Canine warriors through the night. The computer can appear as a projection of mists seeping up from the barnacle covered floor. The image has silvery hair that seems to drip away as if it were made of water. Her skin is starkly white, like the foam of the oceans, and her eyes are deep blue. The computer speaks with a female voice, soft and calm. The computers systems stretch some distance below the suface of the Waters of Peace. There, great generators enable the scrubbing of water to make new clean resources, as well as fresh air for the Waters of Peace. The systems constantly monitor the oceanic conditions of Arus, as well as the makeup of the atmospheric gasses. It also has the capability to add to those gasses to equalize out and help heal any damage caused by industrial pollution or by the strain of war. Furthermore, the Waters of Peace also harbor the same hard-water technology that flows in the Blue lion of Arus. This enables it to withstand the severe pressure of the depths at which it is built. Finally, the computers retain massive amounts of medical knowledge and resources on Arusian biology. One of the platforms can indeed act as the single most advance medical facility on the planet, and holds up to five beds, one for each of the pilots. It was thought that there was little apart from death that could be fixed by these facilities. |

The Pyramid of the Lands The Pyramid of the Lands feels like a pyramid lost in the antiquities of time. The floors are covered with a fine silt-like sand, and the masive walls of the Pyramid appear to be made of rough hewn blocks of sandstone. The air is dry and warm, and smells heavily of various spices and herbs. On the soft warm breeze that circulates the air here, the sounds of ancient reed instruments seem to float quietly from somewhere far off. The Pyramid is lit by giant pyres of flame set in each of the far four corners of the Pyramid. They send orange flickering light that only enhances the feeling of stepping into a moment lost in time. Columns of rocky stone cover the floor, stretching high up into the dizzying heights of the hollow Pyramid, and each covered with row upon row of hieroglyphic writings. There are also two great cavernous square entries with staircases leading down below ground. The entrances are marked with great statues of cats, and of the half-arusian cat goddess from desert mythologies, Bass't. The entrances themselves are about ten meters across each, and stand five meters high. In one of these two caverns, the blueprints for all Arusian technology can be found. It holds several fair sized work garages, allowing the construction of any known device, as well as experimentation for future creations. These areas were meant to be the construction ground for future improvements on the Lions of Arus. They are stocked with equipment, and a small supply of raw material and parts. In the other cavern, there is the last burial ground for the greatest of Arusian kings and the pilots of the Lions of Arus. There were, of course, public areas devoted to these 'burials,' however the true remains were brought here in honor to remain secreted away in private rest. The Pyramid's computer system is based off the scientist Dr. Gorin Polderin. His specialties lay in both geology and the more spiritualistic arts, and he had conducted great experimentation on the connectivity between man and machine. It was he that created the empathy engines that run within the Lions, giving them a portion of the spirits of their creators, as well as the pilots they call to. The computer only refers to itself as 'Sand.' It can appear as a hologram off of shifting sands, and only as an indistinct, gaunt humanoid figure. The computer is capable of engineering feats of increadible proportions. From the details behind the hangars themselves, to the very blueprints of the Lions, to the smallest child's toy, the Pyramid of the Lands is the repository of the knowledge behind their creation. The deep caverns below for building and for burial... aptly named the Womb of Life and the Tomb of Death... go several miles underground before opening up to their repositories. There are lift systems in place, appearing as shifting sinkholes of sand, that are capable of lifting great weights and large pieces up to the Pyramid. Often, components must be removed from the Pyramids and pieced together in a larger area. The Lion was often used for this task. The computer also has the capabilities of monitoring the geological structure of the Planet of Arus. It can forecast tetonic shifts, as well as help to control them to a limited extent. The storage and computer facilities of the Pyramids take the form of columnistic pieces of carved limestone that open to reveal their contents. There is also a large holographic display that can appear in a shifting torrent of sand that can be summoned over one cleared area. |

The Plateau of Winds The Plateau of Winds is by far the most open of all the docking bays that were crafted for the Lions of Arus. It is in a mountain chain, only about a hundred kilometers North of the Castle of Arus. The lighting varies, according to what time of day it is, but it is always hazy with the intense dust clouds that cover the area. One thing that never changes is the howling sound of the winds that keeps the dust active. The Plateau is actually built within a large crater, formed manually within the Northern Peaks mountain range. For all intents, the crater appears to be a mountain with the top crushed or removed, or possibly a dead volcano, with untold depths. Its opening is five hundred meters in width, and the central platform is one hundred and fifty meters across. This central platform is connected to the sides and other smaller platforms by a series of thin stone bridges that make up a latticework of precarious delicacy across the vast opening. From any one point, it is impossible to see what keeps the central plaform aloft, however, were there not the dust that is constantly kicked around from the winds, one might see the massive pylons that are in place below it. There are two circles of stone in the Plateau of Winds. The first are massive obelisks, covered in dust and appearing to be nothing short of giant carved blocks towering over four hundred meters each. These stones are echoed on the central platform, which contains smaller versions, nearly two hundred meters tall, which encircle the lion itself. In reality, these obelisks contain massive static generators and disruption fields, as well as the massively complex computers and equipments needed to power the systems of the Plateau of the Winds. The dust keeps clear of the bridges and smaller platforms through a series of static shielding. It is this same static shielding that attracts the dust to the central platform, coating its surface, the obelisks, and the frame of the Black Lion, creating a stone-like camouflage and causing it to appear to be a carved statue of a great cat. On smaller platforms, storage units exist in clean, dark metal cabinets with an almost spartan appearance. They can rise up or submerge below the platforms. The central computer generates images by using the surrounding dust particles as refraction for holographic imagery, allowing the Plateaus to create enormous and vast holograms, encompassing the entirety of the cavern! The Plateau’s computer system is based off of the scientist Dr Vanoise Charinoz. His specialties included astronomy, meteorology, and spirituality. He also held degrees in ancient military history and tactics. The computer systems can appear via a hologram generated in the dust clouds of an elderly male Arusian with dark skin wearing flowing robes. The computer only refers to itself as 'Wind.' Its systems are focused largely on navigation, mapping, and strategic planning. The databanks have recorded all of the surrounding star systems that were known to Arusian scientists, including many that had been forgotten by modern astronomers. It is also able of pre-strategizing battle plans, with an uncanny certainty that borders on precognition. In fact, many scientists believe that Dr Charinoz used his knowledge of spirituality to give precognitive abilities to the system! The great columns, apart from static generators, are actually a highly sophisticated weather system. From the Plateau of the Winds, the weather on the primary continent of Arus can be controlled, to some degree, for a short amount of time. This includes not only the dissipation of storms, but the generation of wind funnels, snows, and lightning storms. There are also deep space navigational charts in the Plateau’s databanks. The black lion was the only lion initially capable of deep space travel, though the others can be outfitted to do so. The charts contained within the plateau came from a variety of sources, including extra-terrestrial data copied from both attackers and benign visitors. |

The Red Lion Archaelogical Lion Species: The Red lion was based after an Arusian feline called a Kompifyrl. These cats were found mostly in arid mountainous regions, preferring high heat. They were lean, short nosed cats, about a meter in length. They bore a short, reddish brown coat, with black stripes down the sides that spiked along their back and legs. Their legs and tail were long and lean. They were very agile and sure-footed, with large paws that bore an extended extra digit on the back of the paw, allowing for better grip. As the food in their inhabited areas tended to be scarce, they were viscious and powerful hunters that would often successfully tackle prey considerably larger than themselves. Body Length: 100 Meters Head Height: 15 Meters Specialties: armaments, heat control Strength (STR) : 2 Speed (SPD) : 3 Firepower (FRP) : 5 Defensive Capability (DFC) : 1 Physical Appearence:The Red lion emulates the Kompifyrl with a short nose and long lean legs. It is the second smallest of the Lions, and has a lither body that most of the others. It's primary armor plating is modeled in a deep red, almost black in color that is shot through with veins of red magma crystals that appear to be made of flowing veins of lava. Beneath the armor plates, the understructure of the lion is made of a dark black metal, similar in appearance to poured molten iron after cooling. At an instant's notice though, this iron material can change in appearance to white hot. The legs are barbed at the joints, and across the back of the lion, simulating a short spikey fur growth on the Kompifyr. Elemental Control: The red lion is at home in the volcanic heats of the center of Arus. It's upper heat yeild is as of yet uknown, though it is known that it can withstand over four thousand degrees Centigrade. This is not due simply to the armoring on the lion, but rather to it's unique ability to manipulate and control the flow of energy created by heat friction. The internal systems can divert the temperatures, actually lowering the surface and internal temperatures and creating a shielding around the lion of pure heat. This ability can also boost both the defensive and offensive capabilities of the lion. Defensive: The red lion's defensive capabilities are based in it's control of temperature. It can generate a superheated sheilding around it that can disrupt most energy and physical armaments. The energies used to create this shield keep a tight control on it, inverting the heat resonated energy to compound the shield's power, and to keep extra heat from escaping to the surrounding air. Offensive: The red lion's offensive capabilities are the most powerful of the Lion of Arus. With it's elemental control, it can manipulate and focus intense flame and heat related energies, melting through even the most dense of materials with a heat akin to that of a star. Along side of the heat control element, the lion also boasts packs of cluster missiles, and heavy tactical missile armaments. It has several gun ports to the front and rear that can fire heavy capital grade rounds. For melee, the red lion can superheat it's own structure, giving the teeth, claws, and spikes additional power. The red lion, above all other lions, is a walking arsenal of firepower. Scanning: The Red lion's scanners are attuned to the Offensive capabilities of it's surrounding environment. It can do a broad sweep of up to five miles in atmosphere, or fifteen miles in space. Within half a mile of a specific target, there are few sheilding or jamming systems that its sensors can not break through. The systems will detail the output, yield, and fire ranges of all offensive weaponry, as well as guage reasonable pathways to stay clear of dangerous firepower. |
