Anyone read The Last Threshold by RA Salvatore? Any thoughts? I guess there are some changes coming for FR--again. Hopeful that they restore what was best about 3.5. |

Haven't gotten to it yet, I'm still displaced and everything is in storage. From what I understand, this fourth volume of The Neverwinter Saga is also a lead-in to the first The Sundering book, called The Companions, also written by RAS. The Sundering is a 6-book series, each by a different author, ending D&D's 4thEd and clearing the way for the next generation of the Forgotten Realms. Apparently, the book ends with a cliffhanger, or at least an unanswered question, and we have to buy the next one to see what happens to Drizzt? ...which is not that bad OR that unusual, and surely we'll all want to see what happens next anyway... ![]() So... what did YOU think of the book? Was it a satisfactory conclusion to Neverwinter? Are you looking forward to seeing what happens next? |

Yes, I am looking forward to the next book. In this book there were some tantalizing glimpses of Wulfgar's descendants. I hope they figure in future books. About the Sundering, one article had said that major characters would be retired. This causes some apprehension. For me retired=killed off. |

That would make more sense than seeing heroes like Drizzt go farm for a living... Several authors found ways to make their characters survive when 4E came along (Elminster and several from those books are still around, a hundred years after their natural lifespans) and many died terribly (will NOT forgive RAS for trashing so many of his characters in spiteful, senseless ways). I'm wondering if WotC said "you can't do that this time"... That's just a guess. No one has told me what the Inner Circle knows. But why the heck would a writer retire a money-making star? |
