I've seen it. I enjoyed it, a intresting reboot if nothing else. Charles relationship with Raven was some what... stupid? I didn't like it. They did a good job on the Hellfire Club and Banshee. Beast's story was intresting to see on screen. Havok felt neglected. The flying girl, who was that? Far from the 2nd X-Men movie, but it wasn't horrible.

i think the girl with the dragonfly wings was a good example of my irritations. she and a few others while they may exsist are pretty obscoure no namers they woulda pulled from a known mutant and worked them in just as easily and made for better cameos and or stories i agree charles and raven? werid Havoc did seem to get the shaft imo

Boredom got the better of me, and I looked them up. Angel and Darwin are recently created characters in the Marvel verse, Darwin as of 2006 and Angel in 2001.

Nostalgia Chic sums up the whole thing rather nicely.

http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thedudette/specials/31203-xmenfirst

As for my thoughts the movie simply was not good enough. As NC says there was a lot of wasted potential and the story wasn't developed thorrowly enough. Mainly as the movie did not make me forget the travesty that was X3 it simply wasn't good enough.

As for Shaw, yes Shaw is a real character the "Black King" of the Hellfire club and he predates Bishop by decades.

Personally I LIKE that they used some obscure mutants, it helps to show that the x-universe is big. It's actually one of my pet peeves, one that shows up in transformers all the time, how the same 30 characters are present at every major event to do with their species. There are far too many mutants for the X-class to have perpetually bumped into the same 10 over there entire career.

Can't believe I'm, defending any part of this franchise*shakes head*

It's worth seeing if you're not a big X-men marvel buff, OK as summer movies go I give it a rating of $7 if you don't really know the X-men and a $4 if you do.

i don't know a lot of the mutants, except the really major ones, since i haven't read many of the comics. i didn't mind that they used obscure/unknown mutants, but now that they've become a team i'd like to see them in the next movie too.

I hope there's a next movie???

overall, i was well entertained. I agree with Star, i see no advantage to showing that Raven followed Charles around all those years, and still in the end, he encouraged her to go with Erik, right after Eric tried to blow up everybody! They did well explaining why Erik hates the world.

I wanted to understand better if Charles' powers are only mind reading or if he has super intelligence too, a bit like Hank. Is Charles merely a super rich kid with built-in mutant intelligence, or did he have the human drive to excell in school? The movie should have given us more clues...

Also, in the first movies Charles doesn't seem to have a connection with Mystique, so i was surprised to see they grew up together.

And that black-haired guy who said he would take the exposed mutants to his compound and Charles mind-controlled him to get in the car Moira drove in the underground parking garage... was that Striker, who later experimented on Wolverine? It really seemed to be, but i don't think he was credited.

Lastly, was this the movie i was supposed to watch to the very end of the credits? there wasn't anything to see... i was disappointed.

-Ahead thar be spoilers-

Unfortunately there was nothing special at the end of or during the credits. The black haired guy Charles mind controlled was the guy who ran the facility where they met beast and subsequently Was killed by Azzazel

The way this movie goes it seams they are ignoring the original three movies and starting the movie continuity over, as evidence by how Charles looses the ability to walk by its' end but in the flashback to recruiting Jean Grey in X-3 Charles and Erik were old men still working together when they found her and Xavier was still walking.

well, maybe they'll pull a Spock Rejuvination Miracle (remember when they shot his dead body into the heart of the newly formed world at the end of a movie, and his body renewed just in time for the next movie?) and Beast's brain finds a way for him to walk again. For a while, anyway.

musta been Super 8 i was thinking of about the credits...

I saw this movie as well. I didn't see the first 3 X-Men movies. The movie was enjoyable but, not a keeper like LOTR.

It did have the wonderful James McEvoy as Charles. For me this was worth the admission price. BTW James McEvoy would make a good Drizzt.

I forgot to mention Michael Fassbender and Kevin Bacon. I thought with those three guys what's not to like?

The man in black (the man with black hair) was not Striker. Striker or his father was against the mutants and wanted to take them captive when the man in black interferrred and took them in. Another error is Beast appears in a cameo shot debating mutant rights with a Mr. Shaw on tv in the second movie, he is still human in that shot.

Moving on, Shaw was never allied with the Nazis. The X-Men enemy who allied with Hitler (At least on the surface) was Mr. Sinister, and then only so he could draw blood from Holocaust victims and experiment on them for his genetics research. Shaw is a self-made billionaire and business man, not a scientist, so his early appearance in the movie is just odd while his second appearance is more on track.

If there is a next movie, I want to see sentinels. Magneto is getting played out.

Who is Michael Fassbender? And if I go see a movie because of a male actor, its someone known for high action, such as Arnold or Jet Li. Though Kevin does a good job as Shaw as he usually does.

well, i was thinking the man with black hair looked extremely like Stryker, and this was years ago, maybe when he first got interested in mutants, and was willing to pursuade them to take shelter with him just for the chance to learn more about them. Maybe it wasn't till later that he was so outspoken about killing them all, you know?

i like Kevin Bacon, but i didn't really care much about Shaw one way or the other. He was just so-so as an antagonist.

Star, Michael Fassbender played Magneto. He did a wonderful turn as Mr. Rochester in the latest production of Charlotte Bronte's "Jane Eyre". Not high action but, certainly a wide acting range.

ADMIN EDIT: added quotes around Star's words.
