There was a 14+ minute preview of HBO's adaptation of George RR Martin's Game of Thrones. I think this is the first actual 15 minutes of the first episode. It is fairly faithful to the book. I'm afraid, though, that if someone hasn't read it, they may not be roped in to the story. A person who is a fellow reader, but only reads some fantasy, did say "So what's all the shouting about?" I do have to agree, if someone had not read it there would be a lot of confusion. The execution scene is well done with Sean Bean. We are introduced to Jon Snow, Bran, Robb Stark, and Theon Greyjoy. The preview quickly showed Jon's relationship to the rest of the Stark family. The trailer did a good job of establishing that. The first encounter, beyond the Wall, could have been done better. A very good fight scene in the beginning between Ser Waymar Royce and the White Walker either sped by me or was omitted Spoiler: click to toggle I would have posted the trailer here. It is not yet in a You Tube friendly format. I think the trailer can be viewed on HBO's website. Anyhoo, I have my HBO subscription an will be watching on April 24, 2011. |

Tonight's the night for the Game of Thrones premier! I will be posting a review. It is presently available on HBO and Atlantic Sky Channel. I'm sure it will be on Netflix soon.Game of Thrones is considered by some fantasy fans to be George RR Martin's strongest installment in the song of Fire and Ice series. |
