Just got back from an afternoon showing of Let Me In and I gotta say. Wooohooo! Praise the darkones for real freakin' vampires again. In case you didn't know Let Me In is a horror movie but plays more on suspense and being creepy than gore and special affects. Ya know like they used to make them when they made GOOD horror movies back in the 80s. Which is amusing as the movie takes place in 1983. In a nutshell Let Me In is something of a vampire love story, sorta Romeo ad Juliet but really more "boys first kiss" sort of deal, just, ya know, with a murderous child of the night as "the girl." What I liked most about this movie, besides, ya know, evil vampire monster, was that it actually payed homage to several of the classic vampire signs/weakness/tropes. I'm not going to tell you which ones, though one is obvious from the title. There's a really cool scene involving this in the movie but that's all I'll say so as not top spoil it. When I first saw the trailer for this it was a "must see" for me and it still rates right there. If you like vampires, like suspenseful horror, like a sympathetic monster and don't like Twilight this is absolutely the film for you. Catch it before it gets out of theatres I rate it a $9 flick. |

i hate sparkly teenage vampires. The teasers you left make this one a good bet, though. Has anyone else seen this? What'dya think of it? |
