At last, the contestants had been chosen. Stepping down from the ethereal throne, from which the Day King had watched the ongoing battles, his face was expressionless. Untouched by the trivialities amongst the would-be mortals, for he was no such thing. Much like the tide, or the sun, he came when he came, and left when he left. A force of nature that could not be reasoned with, could not be escaped. One could only prepare well, and hope to face the raging storm inbound. The light bloomed and kissed his head could very well be a mane of light, or at least it closely resembled mortal hair. The man opened his mouth to speak, but much like his eyes, nothing but sunlight escaped his lips. Accompanied by the sizzling sound of a warm summer day, the Day King wordlessly voiced his rise to the challenge. It was the longest day of the year.

Shiloh was not sure how she’d been corralled into standing against Solis, but stopping the Day King was not a responsibility she could shirk lightly, so she accepted that she would have to commit to this fight. Instinctively standing at the front of their small group, the saint hoped to analyze the coming battle, but she was somewhat distracted by her allies. She’d learned firsthand that the arrancar named Saturno was a competent warrior, but she was confused and more than a little concerned by the presence of the pink-haired girl. ”This is no place for children,” the shepherdess said, tapping her cane. ”It’s not safe.” Stats |

Angelica was happy to have been chosen to fight to save humanity, or at least that is how she saw it. She was a little disappointed to see that she had to fight along side the jerk from before, but it was for the greater good. She was a little bit saddened though when the woman who seemed rather nice implied that she was not capable of fighting the creature. She knew that the girl was just trying to look out for her but she thought herself more than capable. I made it past the free for all and after my first one versus one fight. I think I am more than capable to defend myself and even you guys. I won't be a burden Madam and I will do my best to defeat this Solstice dude," she said looking up at the woman paying her more attention than their opponent. Stats |

To say that Solis considered his opponents weak would be a false statement; the Day King did not particularly consider his opponents at all, much like the flowing tide cared not whether it flowed freely or crushed the things in it's path. Like all things of such power, the Day King was a force of nature, except the water was purest light, and the direction he flowed was battle. Raising his bright limbs towards the sky, he called down the forces of the sun to his aide.

Angelica had no time to hear the ladies reply cause it looked like every one was getting into a fighting mood. She quickly jumped back away from Solis though she made sure to keep her partners in her line of sight. She then raised up her arms as her sleeves fell down revealing her infamous prayer beads as she began to chant. " Shiki Shiki shiki gami! Shiki shiki shiki gami!" as she chanted her familiar and friendly pink squishy friends started to form. The four circled around her waiting for a chance to protect her or either of her friends in arms. " Be nice mister Sunny I don't want to hurt you!" she said with a smile and a giggle. Recognizing that she could not afford to underestimate the Day King, Shiloh gripped Septimus and prepared to release his power. She guessed that the little girl could probably take care of herself if she’d gotten herself into this situation—like Quim—but still, her recently-awakened maternal instincts demanded that she protect the child. It seemed that she summoned spirits as well, though the child’s power seemed to be derived from her prayer beads, as opposed to a Zanpakutō. ”Sacrifice.” Four ethereal sheep joined the small army that the challengers were quickly forming.

Blasting down holy judgment from above, the sunbeams struck the Shikigami and instantly incinerated it. Slowly reaching out to the fading light still hanging in the air, the man-king grasped the light and shaped it in his hands. Molding forth a brright and flickering spear, each part attempting to escape its own form, Solis looked down upon those before him. Amongst them was a mortal, a child. She had no place here. He would strike her down.

As the ray obliterated one of the pink spirits, Shiloh was glad to see that the young girl seemed to be keeping out of harm's way, although for whatever reason, the Maasai warrior seemed to grow passive as well. She knew that her offensive capabilities left much to be desired, so she was not thrilled by the prospect of potentially dueling the supposed Sun King alone, but her current situation was one in which her feelings mattered very little. She had gotten herself involved in this silly event, and she was obligated to finish it in one way or another. She did not want to throw out an attack, deciding to wait and observe her opponent's abilities for the time being, although she did have to block for the young girl.
