The Summer Solstice. In the few years that Lethela had been an inhabitant of the Nightlands she had learned what to expect from this annual terrestrial event. Not only was it the longest day of the year, accompanied by the shortest night; but it marked the return of a being known as Solis. Year after year the five major factions of the Nightlands sent members of their ranks to challenge and repel Solis, and year after year he inevitably returned. Lethela normally didn't pay it much mind, she had been desensitized to the existence of a Sun King that threatened to make terrible things happen on a yearly basis. Really, she was over that. But this year wasn't exactly a normal one.

This year she had been volunteered to participate on behalf of the Menos Faith.

And so Lethela was escorted to an area in Western Europe near the location that Solis was expected to appear. Stonehenge. During the trip Lethela was informed of how exactly things were going to go down. Apparently, Solis is a smug bastard, and will only face a single "worthy" champion in battle. So the only logical method of choosing said champion was through means of a tournament. Survival of the fittest and all that. So whoever makes it to the end of the elimination brackets would get the opportunity to challenge and hopefully defeat the Sun King.

When everything was said and done, Lethela was left alone to await her two opponents in a large area of grassland. She sat cross-legged on a large rock and rested her cheek against her right hand, lazily keeping her head propped up. Magnamare lay across Lethela's lap, her left hand clutching it weakly. She wasn't quite sure what to expect, she only knew that there would be two more individuals meeting here and then a battle would commence. Lethela wasn't too thrilled, she didn't exactly want to participate; but then again, nobody had asked her if she wanted to in the first place. And here she was, doing exactly what she was told.

"Dammit."

Angelica had gotten herself into a mess again and this time it was on a much larger scale. She had gotten herself involved in some kind of faction battle that would determine the fate of the world or something like that. All that she really knew was that they were fighting in some tourney and that some bad guy would come out at the end of it to fight the winner. How she got wrapped up in all this was her being a bit to eager and lost as usual.

She was wondering around the European countryside after taking the wrong flight on her way home to Japan and just decided to roll with it. As she wandered she ended up in a place with a bunch of warriors. She saw them all lined up for something so she got in line expecting it to be a movie or a restaurant, but at the end of the line was only a sign up sheet. They asked her to sign and she did. They told her to wait to the side and she did. After a while she was called and she walked forward. She was chosen to fight and she walked off to the battleground. Once she got there she waved her hand at a familiar face. A girl she had fought alongside in a mission Lethela.

"Hey Miss Lethal!" she said with a smile looking around to see what else would show up.

Usually stoic, Ellis had been more than thrilled to make the trip to England. In fact, the entire Maasai faction had. The deciding factor on who came had essentially been “last 6 people left conscious in the camp get to attend”. Unsurprisingly, decision making processes like that usually favored the Preacher, who had simply sat in the center of the chaos, slowly gathering up steam until he, Zielgigas, Regulus, a massive arrancar named Jango and two others had been the only ones left on their feet, stopping only when the cloud of dust around the barracks made it truly inconvenient to continue.

So it was with a distinctly uncommon jaunty bounce in his step that he strode out on the field just outside of Amesbury, England, surrounded by some of the oldest inhabited land in the world. The grass under his feet was lush and pitchy, a good thick consistency that would ensure his footing once he was heavy enough to sink into the soft ground. Clearly, this contest being what it was drew some of the strongest fighters from all over the known world; this would be an opportunity for him to go toe to toe with... a platinum blonde woman almost a full foot shorter than him and a – he sniffed, being downwind of the pair in front of him – human girl!? This couldn't be right. Admittedly the woman had all the bearings of a warrior with a sincere enough looking sword but the girl couldn't have been a day over twelve, if that, and she certainly wasn't the type who went into battle on a regular basis, whatever skills she possessed.

Before displaying his initial reactions, the Preacher caught himself; there was still a not insignificantly sized crater-turned-duckpond in Austria where a female nun had somehow managed to knock Ellis almost three stories into the air before pile-driving him back into the soft ground just outside of Widalpen. It was a lesson he hadn't forgotten, even almost thirty years later. The spirit world was one of deceiving appearances, one in which judging an opponent based on looks alone would get you wounded if not killed. Still, fighting a human child... the arrancar suppressed a look of extreme discomfort bordering on nausea as he approached.

Wordlessly stopping a comfortable distance from the three, the preacher kneeled in a passable but unwitting imitation of a samurai in seiza, his lips moving silently in what was clearly a judeo-christian prayer. A moment later his head rose, seemingly come to some resolve on the matter; he would remain on his spot until he had ascertained the strength of his opponents, mustering his full strength in the meantime. His release form wasn't some honor he only bestowed on strong opponents, it was a tool he used in battle and if indeed the pair in front of him were strong opponents, any time wasted in idle spectating would put him at a disadvantage.

Fortunately Lethela hadn't needed to wait long before her opponents presented themselves. The first of the two earned a shocked reaction from her, which would probably only show through widened eyes. The pink-haired Angelica stood before her, and Lethela was quite honestly at a loss for words. She had just worked a job with the human child, and now she was to be one of her opponents? Lethela remained seated on the large stone and all-but ignored Ms. Hope's greeting.

Moments later another individual arrived, this time it was the likes of an imposing male Arrancar. The black-haired man was quite muscular and already seemed to tower over the much smaller Angelica, even from a distance. He knelt down and bowed his head for a moment, halting his approach; Lethela wasn't sure what the purpose of this gesture was, but her interest faded as soon as he lifted his head. It was in this moment that she saw his peculiar steel colored eyes, and could she barely see steam billowing out from them? Perhaps her eyes were playing tricks on her.

"Okay." Lethela greeted her two opponents with a single word before pushing off of the rock she was seated upon. As she came to her feet her left arm dangled lifelessly to the side, a permanent reminder of the night she first appeared in the Nightlands. She gripped her Zanpakuto tightly in her right hand; her opponents had presented themselves, so there was only one thing left to do.

"Omnes Abyssi." Lethela thrust Magnamare into the air and activated her released form. The small arming sword initially seemed to explode in a torrent of water, only to become a much more formidable blade, which she hefted over her shoulder in her right hand. Water began pouring off of Magnamare and her own body, as if she had been submerged and just broken the surface. It was not Lethela's style to waste time, and with her shikai successfully activated, she was ready for the ensuing battle.

Angelica saw the big wall of a man approach, but she wasn't scarred she had fought hollows much bigger and scarier looking then him without breaking a sweat. Today was different though cause she had to fight a person who was once her teammate. She didn't mind that much though because the woman was a bit mean to her during that mission. Angie watched patiently as Lethal released her sword bringing forth a torrent of water. The sword grew to a much larger size and seemed many times more formidable. The sword, as well as Lethal, seemed to ooze out water as if they themselves were underwater.

Angelica saw her enemy getting serious and she thought she should do the same. She turned to Lethal and spoke," Your sword may be big, but Hope is eternal! Get it cause my last name is hope, yeah you get it!" She nodded a bit stumbling over the joke, but hoping she got her point across she pulled down her right sleeve revealing her pure white prayer beads wrapped around her arm.

She then started chanting," Shiki shiki shiki gami, Shiki shiki shiki gami!" As she chanted her phrase 5 small wisps of pink energy started floating up from the ground and slowly grew into 5 pink sphere like creatures with tiny points for arms and legs. The creatures seemed harmless enough on there own as they bounced up and down and spun about as if they were little kids playing around in the yard.

"Me and my friends are ready to party lets hope you are cause I am going for the gold since I am already here!," She said with a smile as she put out her hands in a V formation symbolizing her victory to come.

Lethela didn't really care for the Angelica's dialogue, and pretty much ignored what she had to say. In the past when they had worked together, communication was somewhat necessary. This was no longer the case, all that mattered to Lethela was representing the Menos Faith and coming out of this encounter on top. She hadn't expected much of the human child, so when the pink-haired girl summoned a small troupe of floating pink orbs from her prayer beads, Lethela barely reacted. She was unsure what the function of these minions was, but nonetheless, allowing Angelica to do what she wanted would be unwise.

"Cute." Lethela mocked the pink-haired girl, making it clear that she was unimpressed by her little floating spirits. Her shikai was now in full swing and she resembled a walking waterfall with an endless supply of water. Lethela had decided on her next move the moment she saw Angelica's shikigami materialize, and would waste no more time. Lethela dropped into a wide stance, her left arm danged weakly before her, and Magnamare remained supported over her shoulder in her right hand. She shut her eyes for a mere moment, pouring an ample amount of reiatsu into her zanpakuto, after which water began surging out of it at an accelerated rate.

Lethela opened her eyes and leapt off of the stone beneath her feet, sending her sailing into the air towards Angelica and her pets. When she reached the apex of her jump, she twirled in mid-air slightly, and followed through with a huge sweeping slash of her sword in Angelica's direction. A massive torrent of water burst from the surface of Magnamare following this attack, threatening to pummel her opponents with crushing force. Lethela came crashing to the ground right in front of her pink-haired combatant, having landed on her feet under the weight of her zanpakuto. She looked up at Angelica sternly, ready to charge forward for her next attack.

Angelica looked a bit pleased with herself as her former partner and current opponent called her cute. Most people would take it as an insult and get angry or blow it off, but Angelica took it as a compliment believing that Lethal thought she looked cute.

Angie didn't have much time to feel happy with herself because Lethal quickly set her attack into action. The girl went flying off the rock going into the air and twirling slightly. This twirl led into a strong slash that sent a wave of water at her. She moved her hands up to block and instinctively controlled a shikigami to block for her. The wave crashed down hard destroying all her other shikigami friends and leaving the one she used to block completely gone.

Angie grew angry at her former partner and yelled," How dare you! They shall have there revenge! Shiki shiki shiki gami! Shiki shiki shiki gami," Five more pink balls appeared before Angelica, but this time they were serious in there attitudes.

How could you!?!

"Hmph."

Angelica seemed upset at the demise of her pets, but had somehow managed to use one of them in it's final moments to protect herself from Lethela's attack. Lethela now understood that the purpose of the shikigami was for defense, and opted to continue her assault. As soon as Angelica had blocked the attack, Lethela stepped forward and swung her zanpakuto in a diagonal arc towards the pink-haired girl. A small projectile of water was propelled from the surface of the blade during her attack, which would be followed by the sword itself. Surely her defense wasn't absolute, Lethela was certain she would be able to break through.

Angelica was surprised by the sudden sword slash coming at her and she had little time to react. The wave of water that came at her was quite slow so she was able to dive out of the way of the attack. She however didn't have the time to dodge the incoming sword. This time she stood fast as she called a shikigami towards her with a hand motion and blocked the blade with her pink friend as he faded away. She didn't like making them lose there solid forms, but they did not die from this they simply returned to being invisible forces of the world like the wind and the earth.

After blocking the sword attack most people would run away or get a better position, but Angelica simply pointed out her hand at Lethal and screamed out," FRIENDSHIP BEAM!!" As she did so a pink ray of light streamed out of her hand and flew toward her opponent.

Can't touch this
