dunno if it has been covered somewhere already, but as far as i've seen the only way to gain MP is via training or battling and SWS ofc. And to be honest, it puts one in a place to only battle and battle and not cover much actual interacting with other characters out of battle. So here I was thinking, maybe it's possible to have it so that you as well gain MP from threads that doesn't involve battling, ofc with lower WC * percentage ratio, but still possible. Like with ratio of 2% (0.2) or something like that or with some rules WC gain limit wise or along those lines. but it's just a random thought, nothing more.

The general rule for gaining MP, aside from doing our events like the Cooking, Fanfic Contest, AMV contest, and banner, is to do a thread that "betters" your character in someway. The reason why we have limited it like this is because there have been cases in the past where a group got a large amount of points for simply having a long thread of the two of them going on a date and having dinner. Another way to earn Mp is when the uncollected MP bin is emptied. Also. 2% word count is .02, not .2 as that’s 20% However, this raises a problem, even at 2% WC, you still will have individuals that will abuse this by spamming long posts of useless banter. A prime example of this is Kurugari_Shadou's, Which are often full of him stroking his own ego or useless ranting to simply himself. |

I see... In past in forums I've been in, this was allowed, and no one really abused it... Or maybe I was just lucky to not come across it. but then again I guess it'd be too much of a work to round some restrictions around this option of gaining MP, for it to actually work. hehe...well ego stroking is better then when you see someone (in order to get WC) be all, quote: "He stepped forward, and as he did that by moving his right leg in front of the left one, he moved forward, while as well shifting his body weight to the right leg and using as support point. And when that was done, he moved the left leg in front of the right, and as he did that..." // i believe you can imagine what happened next... XD; and I'm serious unfortunatelly.... |

That last bit made me giggle. xD You really shouldn't worry about it. To be honest, even with this restriction, it's relatively easy to gain MP fast just by battling/training/participating in the SWS. Social threads are still done, but more or less for the fun of it. Which is why I encourage it; is it really necessary to RP just to gain something? It should be fun~ 8D; |

glad it entertained you XD; tho i personally a lot enjoy the interaction threads, because they let you actually unveil character's personality (: so i'd gladly be up to them, but seeing that MP gain is all about battling, then i'm not too sure if anyone would pick up it if i went ahead to offer a thread like that ^^;; |

I think what Krom means when she says threads that better the character is that as long as your character is growing in the thing that your writing, there isn't a problem. This is a really bad example but, say like if your character hates puppies because indirectly puppies are responsible for the death of your entire family. And you're just staring at this puppy and you see that it's about to get jumped by a bunch of puppy hungry kittens. Then your character realizes that even though puppies killed your family, this particular puppy had nothing to do with it and just because its a puppy it shouldn't be held responsible for something that another puppy did! So you punt the attacking offenders and save the puppy! Huzzah! So in theory the betterment of your character could be a social interaction thread. That's all I got >.>; |
