Serina walked through the bookstore looking at the shelves of book. She already owned most of them, but occasionally she would stumble on one she had not yet bought. As she passed the owner he extended his hand out to stop her. "You know, I got a new one in yesterday. It is a rare find. Come to the front desk and I will show it to you." The owner put down the pile of books he was carrying on a chair and walked to the front of his store. Serina followed him with a very slight hint of joy. She always loved being the first to see a new book and the owner of the shop always had a good eye for a rare find. When they got to the front counter the owner reached down and pulled out a small book. It was no longer then one hundred pages and the cover was simple a brown leather. "The Journal of Hatori Maro. These are his original writings about his trip across Uzzolo, Fiacco, and finally into Odio." He slide the book across the counter to allow Serina to look at it. Serina slowly picked it up and flipped to the center and quickly read one page. It was not easy to read the handwriting, but it seem like a real good book. "Okay, how much." Serina pulled out her purse and looked at the owner. She could force him to give her the book, but she wouldn't. She was constantly doing business with him and did not want to wreck that relationship. The owner smiled. "I paid one hundred and fifty Pounds for the Journal and I will give it to you at cost sense you are such a loyal customer." The owner smiled. Serina reached in her purse and pulled out a handful of money. She quickly counted out two hundred pounds and placed them on the table. "There is two hundred pounds for a good friend." Serina looked outside and could see the light rising on the horizon. "Have a nice morning." Serina place her new book in her purse and walked out the door. It was starting to get uncomfortable for with the sun coming over the horizon so Serina figured she would take the quicker way home. Serina walked through the city, trying to stay in the shadows of buildings to avoid the sunlight. She eventually made it back to her house as the sun was just starting to rise over her own roof. She quickly retreated inside and locked the door. It was another close call, another fifteen or twenty minutes and she would have not been able to hide in enough shadows to get home sunburn. |

Serina’s house did not look like the home own by a whore, but then again she was not the common prostitute. Her house had large pieces of furniture, oil lamps, a large stone fireplace and thick black curtain. She walked over to one of the large green chairs next to a small end table with an oil lamp sitting on it. She light the lamp and pulled her new book out of her purse. Serina open the journal to the first page and began to read the book. It was not hard reading for her, it was in fact quite quick and enjoyable. She sat on the chair for several hours, reading by the light of the oil lamp. By hour three however she was into an interesting section of the journal. On his way through Ozzolo he had made became lost in the Himalaya. He ended up climbing a mountain he called the Dragon Mountain. He called it that because the mountain ridgeline extends up as if a tail of a dragon the peak which looked like the dragon’s head. Halve way up he collapsed in the snow and counted himself dead. When he woke up however he was in a monastery lying in front of the Buddha with incents burning. He would later learn that this was the home of a very special weapon. One which would only be removed in times of great evil walked the earth. This peaked Serina’s intrest. She knew the Journal was his account of his travels, so he may have misunderstood; however she could think of no greater evil then the Legion. By the description of the weapon given by the guardian, it gave her the impression that the weapon increases a person’s to mythic levels. She thought this may be worth pursuing, even if it was a delusion of a man loss on a mountain. Serina put the book down and headed to her room to pack for the journey. She had not traveled from Ermetico City in over seven years, but she still had all her old items from travelling across Fiacco and Odio. She figured she would leave at nightfall, heading the Black Sea rode towards Uzzolo. From there she would use the journal in order to back track Hatori’s path from the monastery. |

Serina walked out of her house and into the street. The sun was just setting over the collusion and the rest of the working girls were taking up their positions. Serina got a few strange looks from her local rival because instead of her skimpy clothing she was wearing boots, pants and a long sleeve shirt, all black, with a pack slung over her shoulder. As she walked into the sunset, she bite her bottom lip, not enjoying the pain of the sun but knowing she must get moving as soon as possible. She was to buy passage on a merchant ship to the eastern shores of the Black Sea, take the trade route to the Tibet and then find her way to the Dragon Mountain. Serina made it to the port in just ten minutes, walking through the ships. She noticed one ship was loading a lot of goods which were normally traded in Ozzolo. She walked up to one of the sailors and applying slight pressure mentally she asked him were the captain was. He replied simple and to the point. "He is on board, would you like me to take you to him?" Serina of course said yes and he led her onboard. Serina was led to the captain's quarters where a middle age man was sitting at a desk reading papers. He looked up and dismissed the crewman. "What is it you want? I got a lot of inventory to take in before we leave tonight." The captain sounded rather irritated, this was not a great time to ask to buy passage. Serina had no choice though, this was the fastest route her destination. "I desire to purchase passage to the eastern shore of the Black Sea. I know you are heading there by the cargo you are loading. Price is not an issue." Serina was to the point and direct. She hoped this would help get on the captain's good side. The captain placed his hands in his face. "Do I look like I am running a passenger ship. If you are in some sort of trouble with the Legion, I don't want a part of it." The captain's voice showed fear for the Legion. Serina shook her head and reached into her pack. She pulled out a large purse full of pounds and tossed them on the desk. "I am thinking that you may take on a passenger for five hundred pounds. That is more than the rest of your cargo profits. And you and I are the only ones that know that sum has been offered." She put the pack on the back and let the captain think about it. The captain reached over and poured the five hundred pounds on his desk. "I think we could take a passenger for three hundred pounds. I will have one of the storage rooms made into a cabin." The captain smiled and walked out of his cabin to tell the crew. Serina stayed put and the ship pulled out of port three hours later.
