Black Flag Rocks I am assuming that most people reading this are aware that Black Flag continues to be the number one flag on Sage for over a year. Below are some facts and figures you may not all be aware of…at the time of posting there are on Sage 899288 pirates active in crews. So when Greatboss and Deepdiver from Privateers are number one gunner and sailor respectively and Slyjack of Bloody Buccaneers’ and Schnivelbiv of Polite Murderers hold top spots for bnavving and distilling you realise what an achievement that truly is! 2213 active crews . The Privateers are the number one crew , Titans 6th and Brothers, a recently formed crew in the top 50. 852 active flags, lol the number one being us!!!! Me salutes you all. There is a lot of debate about how crew and flag fame is calculated so I thought I would post a copy of a response to a petition I sent to the ocean masters a while back ...this is what they said. Fame is generated by members of your crew actively puzzling. All puzzles generate fame, but it is believed that the puzzles performed at sea, which are sword fighting, gunning, bilging, navigating, carpentry, and sailing, generate more fame than land puzzling such as poker. Any crew member generates fame for his crew by puzzling, including when he is on navy vessels or jobbing with other crews. I then went on to ask if size matters, and like many other things in life it does. The larger the crew, the easier it is to generate points. This then opened the question "what about the standard of the puzzling, does an incredible get you more points?" This is what they said.... From: Ohmercy Petition Id: 2654893 Status: Resolved [Hermes] Category: Other Subject: crew fame....again! Description: Recently you responded to my question about how crew fame was calculated. Which I understand...one further question... I assume that the fame generated by puzzling is based on the quality of your puzzling? Or is it just the fact that you are actively doing a puzzle that provides crew fame? Thankye Support Response: Quantity more than quality, mate. So a bit of a shocker......but reinforces the need to pilli more and recruit like mad, it’s the brig and frig pillies and the recruitment and retention of crew that will make greatest impact on our fame. I fully appreciate crew and flag fame and league tables don’t float everyone’s boat but for the competitive ones amongst us, there you have it. For the flag to continue our amazing success we need to pilli and craft more, poker less and increase our members….lol no great surprises there then! Edited by Ohmercy, Nov 24 2009, 01:33 PM.

i dont dispute that we rule, but you should tone down the numbers a bit 899288 pirates 2213 active crews 852 active flags with usually no more then 1k pirates online at a time, counting alt flags and crews and simply dead crews/flags (pirates that buy dubs (or even every pirate ever made) but havent been on for years are also counted it id have to assume) it think its more like 25% of that that logged in in the past 2 years and maybe 2% (18000) have logged in the past month and yes im pulling that outa my ass, but those numbers seem loads more likely to me ![]() now about the topic, ive kinda given up doing brig pillages outside of the times you and cuzz do it ever since the summer vacation is over i havent been able to sail a single one, and i dont really like sloop pilly's so i stick to parlor games and CI etc during the day maybe its worth to try jobbers delight in privateers for a month or so? id really like to know the difference (since i have noticed a big one since my switch of crews) Edited by Antarioo, Nov 28 2009, 06:12 AM.

That number was a misprint, or typo.. it is Eighty-Nine thousand pirates.. not Eight-hundred, ninety-nine thousand... the number are for ALL pirates though, as for ACTIVE pirates (who logged on within the last week) the number is a more conservative Sixteen thousand. This obviously include alts and such. The Crew and Flag figures were accurate when it was posted. Just as an aside... |
