The Covenants are the various sects through Kindred society. Just like humans, mages, werewolves and a slew of other types of creatures, vampires have a society and culture of all their own, and just like the aforementioned groups they have split into different sects and organizations that they feel best encapsulate their personal beliefs.

Before choosing a covenant, make sure that your character's clan, beliefs and ideology fit the covenant that you are thinking about choosing. A character who is anarchistic is not going to join the Invictus, and a character who is an atheist isn't going to join The Lancea Sanctum.

Each Covenant has their own ideologies and belief systems as well as their own ladder of ranks. Each Covenant will react to different situations in their own unique way, and they will drag your character along with them. Be warned that a character can be kicked out of a covenant if they disobey or disrespect enough of their tenets.

The Carthian Movement

The youngest of the major covenants, the Carthian Movement are made up of political idealists and radical anarchists alike, who seek to introduce positive political change upon the Kindred society. They believe that the kindred society should not be ruled over by princes and barons and sherriffs, but that rather Kindred society should be self-ruled with elected leaders and true democratic rule. This goes against what most other covenants believe, and the way things work in the current nights, is that a prince simply claims domain and he controls it if he has enough support and nobody is powerful enough to oppose him. The Carthians see this as a monarchy and wish to have no part of it. They argue that it is a new night, and the Kindred should be a self-ruled democracy.

The Carthian movement is young, and as a result, nearly all of their members are younger vampires. There are a few older vampires, however, in the Carthian movement that have joined because they became disenchanted with the way things currently work.

They see themselves as freedom fighters and righteous seekers of change, while those they oppose see them as anarchistic rabble rousers who has no respect for tradition and don't understand what it takes to make the Kindred society work as a whole.

How they View Other Covenants
The Lancea Sanctum: They are blind about their beliefs and they are just as fanatic as they are blind. Fools, all of them. But they are dangerous fools.
The Circle of the Crone: They are detached from reality and searching for answers that aren't there.
The Invictus: The very opposite of what we stand for. They are viciously opposed to change and anachronistic to a fault. They would have us never change and stay the same for all eternity.
The Ordo Dracul: They are hiding something malignant, and we're unsure whether we want to know what it is.
The Unaligned: They are selfish and have no cause. Try to turn them to our cause if you wish, but don't expect results.
