Duke of Vargfel

Overview: Brother Lukas is a warrior-chaplain of the Cult Missionares, dedicated to the spread of the belief in the Holy Light and loyalty to the Temple. His name is revered among common soldiers and the cardinals of the hallowed cathedrals alike, and with good reason. Characteristics: Brother Lucas is a man of massive frame and cold, impassionate eyes. His armour is similar to most other Cult Missionares Chaplains; he wears a thick breastplate with a violet and gold tabard and short cloak, the colours of the Cult Missionares. His face is entirely covered by warpaint that makes it look like a skull, this is to show the enemies of man that he will bring them death. His equipment is based around the premises of his stature; he wields the Thurible, a weapon that is best described as a mix between a morning star and a incense-burner. In battle, he will swing ut around and violently bring it down on his enemies, not only crushing them, but also burning them with righteous fire. This Thurible has given the name to the Missionares Chaplains; Thurifiers. Another effect of this tool of prayer and war is that the incense smoke causes ecstacy in those around him, leading them to fight harder and better than they ever could without. He also holds the Book of Lucas, which was once a normal collection of war litanies and prayers that all Thurifers carry, but has over the years been edited to his very own version, filled with mystical chants. It is said that the Holy Light responds to these prayers. Abilities: - Searing Attack [Passive]: The attacks of this character does extra fiery damage, having a chance to paralyze or incapacitate the enemy due to sheer pain. - Book of Lucas: This Character can choose three Tier 2 Miracles from the Monk Miracle list, these abilities must otherwise be available to member of the Cult Missionares. [See Monk Miracle List] - Aura of Incense [Passive]: Caused by the Thurible, nearby allies will feel a state of intense concentration that will increase their battlefield prowess. Prerequisites: Brother Lucas may be added into a Quest-RP party where there are members of Tier 3. (Monk Adepts, Direpelt Guards, War Jesters) Brother Lucas may not be added into a quest dealing with minor dangers, due to his importance. History: Brother Lukas was born Arro Micanda, in the southwestern region of Castillanja in the year ____. His birth was coincided with the obliteration of a star in the Helmsman Constellation, often associated with vigilance and bravery. Arro himself was born with a birthmark above his left eyebrow, in the shape of a star, furthering the mystic connection, and foreshadowing future events. At age three, Arro fell from a cliff near the village, being severely wounded and only clinging on to life. His mother prayed for a miracle; and promised to give her most precious thing away if her son was to survive. Arro did indeed survive. His parents, a pair of local farmers, were afraid of the consequences of these omens, and had him ordained in the local monastery; Rock of St. Erran. Although initially reluctant to take in a toddler, the Abbot was persuaded by the parents' desperate plea in the end. Over the years, Arro grew to be a handsome young man, and was noted for his beautiful voice. Arro was assigned in the monastery choir, and during a session, he caught the attention of the famed Inquisitor Ramalda, who took him under her wing and taught him not only song techniques, but also a compassion for the Good Fight. In time, the young man pleaded with his superiors to be transferred to a monastery that trained chaplains of the Cult Missionares. Arro was transferred to the monastery of Doves' Recluse, high in the mountains and highlands of the southwestern region of Westfold. It was a martial monastery, dedicated to the training of chaplains, militantly minded monks, more specifically of the Cult Missionares; the cult of the missioners. Over the course of three years, the young man was transformed into a capable warrior and an impressive orator; able to turn the hearts of men ablaze with his firey speeches of honour and duty, aided by his angelic voice, the likes of which none had heard before. At the end of his training, Arro was transferred to the 6th Westfold Regiment; "Tigons of Reculda," and worked there mostly along with the captain of the 2nd Cohort, 3rd Column. The Regiment was involved in a lengthy war with beastmen along the coast of Westfold, and the war was going poorly. During one battle, the entire monk choir attached to the 2nd Cohort - a choir being the designated unit of monks in war - was slaughtered when a warband of beastmen ambushed the infirmary tents where the monks where working. This was so devastating to morale, that the captain decided to retreat into the nearby hills. Enraged at this, Arro took his armour strode into the night, vowing to kill all the beastmen. The captain begged him not to do so, as it would mean certain death, but Arro went anyway. Three days later, a scouting party of lancers followed a trail of dead beastmen. Their bodies where horrible butchered, and they lead into a nearby grove. The lancers dismounted, but remained vigilant in case it was a trap. In the grove they found a mortally wounded Arro enthroned upon a pile of the carcasses of twenty beastmen; in a majestic fashion he stood triumphant over his enemies. Despite a firm grip on his thurible and a steady gaze, the man was by all measures as good as dead. The lancers sent for assistance in reclaiming the chaplain, and eventually a monk of the cult vigorates arrived. With a miracle, the monk managed to heal the warrior-monk, and as he stood up with a stern look and hoarse voice - no longer beautful by any means - he declared that he had been reborn as Lucas, and that the battle against the beastmen had been his rebirth, and their blood that covered him was like the blood of the womb. In the ensuing weeks, the reborn Arro - now known as Brother Lucas - fought with intence dedication and zeal, always at the foremost front, shouting litanies of war and chanting prayers of justice as he smashed the skulls of his opponents. The scent of blood and incense mixed in his presence, and lead men into a frenzy. After the campaign against the beastmen, Lucas was transferred to the Middlemarch region, where he single-handedly killed a Hill Troll in a melee fight, and later to the Hyagusta Campaign in his home region Castillanja, where he assisted in seeking out smugglers and pirates, and even a demonic cult. During this period, Brother Lucas' reputation grew until he became a near-legendary figure. Indeed, he exploits are only now being collected to a complete tale and many deeds are still missing. Now, with the orcish invasion of Vargfel, Brother Lucas has once again left familiar surroundings, and travelled to where he is needed, and where the Holy Light is sending him to disperese indiscriminate justice. He come not only to fight the foes of man however, but also to investigate what happened to one of his brethren in arms; the late Brother Renault, who died during the siege of Vargfel City. The question is raised among the Chaplains what led the venerable Thurifer there, and how he met with such a heroic death. Edited by Sigismund Wolfbane, Mar 14 2009, 11:48 PM.
