General Information Family Name: Kikuchi Discipline: Yomi Current Head: Sousuke Previous Heads: Background Information: The Kikuchi family is one of the five strongest families currently in Japan. They reside in Tokyo which they've had control over for several hundred years. They're renown for their strong link with Yomi, the underworld. Kichuki, along with Fujiwara, are considered the two strongest families in Japan. The two families have been at war for several years for each other's land and to prove who's the strongest of the two. The Kikuchi family are considered ruthless and cold, often referred to as demons due to their link with Yomi. They've all been hardened by war and are merciless in their invasions. Civilians are rare amongst Kikuchi due to the massacres committed by the Fujiwara family. Discipline Basic Mastery This is an innate mastery which does require some training to acquire. This allows the user to manipulate darkness, such as shadows of physical objects, into a weapon. For obvious reasons this can only be used if there is a shadow or any darkness present. The drawback to using this is that it consumes a considerable amount of energy. Apprentice Mastery This is a mastery exclusive to Apprentices after extensive training with a master. At this stage, the user can manipulate darkness into whatever they please. They require a source of darkness such as a shadow from an object for obvious reasons. At this stage the will only be able to focus on manipulating darkness into a single object rather than multiple objects at once. They are also limited to only manipulating darkness within a 100 metres range of them. An Apprentice Mastery allows the user to use far less energy in creating weapons from darkness in comparison to Basic Mastery. The drawback to using Apprentice skills is that it consumes a great deal of energy. Expert Mastery This is a mastery possessed by all Masters. It often requires several years of training to acquire. At this stage the user can produce darkness from their own energy and manipulate darkness in any way they desire. There is no range limit at this stage and there is no need to be near a source of darkness due to the fact the user can produce darkness from their own energy. The drawback to this is that producing darkness from the user's own energy uses a large amount of energy. Sage Mastery This is a mastery, often considered the highest form, exclusive to only a few elders. This often requires tens of years of training to acquire. It is rare for anyone to reach this level even after tens of years of training. At this stage, the user has all the abilities from the previous Masteries with a much less of a drawback. The user will also be able to open a gate from Yomi and bring a limited amount of fiends form Yomi to assist them in battle. The main drawback to using this ability is that opening a gate between Yomi and the living world consumes an enormous amount of energy, even for an elder of high stamina. It is easy for the user to keep the portal open for too long and consume more energy then they actually have, thus resulting in death. A gateway should be left open for no more than a single minute. Head Mastery This is the highest form the discipline can take. Only one person at a time may possess this level. To acquire this, one must kill the current person holding this level. If the user dies of old age, natural causes or by a non-Kikuchi, the closest relative will awaken this level. This, in the most basic sense, is a contract between Yomi and the user. The user is able to manipulate unimaginable amounts of darkness in as many ways as the user can think of. They may also summon gateways from Yomi with far of an energy expense compared to a master. They are granted similar powers as Yomi and thus can execute these in battle at the cost of a large amount of energy. The head may also temporary bring Yomi into the living world however this will near certainly kill the user as bringing Yomi into the living world costs the user parts of their soul rather than their energy. Five minutes is the longest a user can bring Yomi into the living world before dying. This 5 minutes is their limit for the lifetime, not just that battle.
