I was amused. A game that opened without a tavern scene.

Things that happened:
The players were on a ship in a storm, escaping from a plague ridden Island Nation. The ship was attacked by a possessed storm, and destroyed in spectacular fashion. Our daring heroes swam to pieces of debris, and were rescued by a slightly drunk captain with a magical ring that let him summon Sea Turtles that took them to safety.

(Dude, that was like, totally Radical Dude!)

The dashing adventurers (and Kobold) then met up with a pyromaniac, and a girl who changes into a cat. Thinking nothing of it, and ignoring the hard sell of the town's local alchemist, they ventured into town, and met the mayor.
Lilly then opened a shop:

Having dismissed the jovial and friendly mayor, the new adventuring party went to the library, because everyone knows a library is way more adventury than the local brothel. Inside the library were many books. Investigating a noise, a bookcase fell on the Kobold, who sadly, survived, albeit with a splitting headache.

Our brave heroes ventured into the basement, which had been taken up by some cultists, whom, after a brief negotiation, were exterminated to the last man.
Our heroes then discovered traps, met Ranger Steve, almost drowned, and finally looted some stuff from the archives/temple.
Sonny is being haunted by a book that seems to have become attuned to her.
Slish is trying to not be killed by his own party memebers, and wondering how to dump a goblet that changes anything you put into it into blood.
Oburous is looking for clothes and wondering if his ass will ever be the same.
Ranger Steve is... Ranger Steve.

THUNDER STICKS!

Sonny may or may not kill her with her stick, causing the stick to explode.

Our brave heroes bailed their brave companion out of jail, and then washed up. Then a really creepy guy showed up and started getting all emo. He was chased by a puma over the rooftops, and killed. A backpack was lost, and our heroes were greatly shaken by the whole event. Something is rotten in the city, and our heroes are sure to find out what it is so stay tuned to 102.2, RPG radio!

Well, at least we got rid of that goblet. Though the fact that it is now probably in the possession of a cult makes me less than enthused. If only we'd left it hidden in the library...
