"Well, I don't mind answering questions as long as I know the answers," Melai shrugged at the Xeian, "But as of why we fought each other back on Earth, I have no idea. That is knowledge that has been lost over time, in the centuries after the Earth was abandoned. All I know is that there was a great nuclear war between different human nations, and that war pretty much rendered the planet unsuited for sustained life... or so it would seem, since the insectoids apparently thrived there in our absence."

"As for the people out front... make them move, crush them or say that we go out and kick their asses, I don't care, but whatever you decide, do so quickly. I am not exactly welcome here, either, and am quite eager to get back to Terra Gamma before the Imperial soldiers find me. Oh, and both of you are welcome to come with us to Terra Gamma, of course," Melai added towards the Xeian and the woman, "My ship has a large cargo, and if your ships are as small as you say they are, perhaps they can fit in the Rey's cargo."

"...war pretty much rendered the planet unsuited for sustained life... or so it would seem, since the insectoids apparently thrived there in our absence."
"They developed very quickly, which shows high rate of mutations and also, that life that was on earth had quite low tolerance to radiation... So humans when they would have stayed there, even in the case they had managed to survive, would be very different from what they are now."

"As for the people out front... make them move, crush them or say that we go out and kick their asses, I don't care, but whatever you decide, do so quickly. I am not exactly welcome here either..."
"As you wish." Zet'kil shrugged, before turning to her control again.

The ship outside stirred, turning itself until its one side was parallel to the frontal side of the office building, before moving sideways towards it, stopping just before it would have collided to the wall.
After being still for a few seconds, it started to lower itself, closing the distance between it and the ground. It did it slow enough for everyone to get out of the way, although it didn't care if they really did.
It was a thing, meant to take orders- and so it did. A thing meant to obey without questions didn't need consciousness of its own.
It finally stopped moving when it was only about ten centimeters from the ground.

"Oh, and both of you are welcome to come with us to Terra Gamma, of course, my ship has a large cargo, and if your ships are as small as you say they are, perhaps they can fit in the Rey's cargo."
"Maybe it does. It depends whether our understanding of large and small are the same." Zet'kil didn't even look towards the door. She knew that the ship was there. "Anyway, the ship is now in front of the door."

((A little hurried post, because I have to leave now... I am back tomorrow evening.))

"I, uh... 'm Harper, and that there's Iarbas," Harpalyce finally answered in a shy grunt. The 'droid helpfully displayed its information on its holodisplay: Model I-E-34 Personal Assistant Unit from Mobile Technologies Inc. Booted and ready for service.

As they talked, she sucked on her front teeth in thought before throwing her hands up. "Woah, woah, wha's all this 'bout smushin' people with spaceships an' runnin' off?" She stepped forward a little bit to interject herself into the conversation as she dropped her voice. "Yer jes' not thinkin' 'bout this right. Sure, this 's an Imperial world, but it's jes' a little hole-in-the-wall. They don't really care, they're too busy fightin' the bugs. All it takes to get outta here nice and legal-like is greasin' somebody's palm, provided they're the right somebody, eh?" She grinned a little, looking back to the receptionist, before clapping Melai on the back. "Yer a charmer, I'm sure you could do it. Ask for a permit t'go retrievin' your ship. They'll let you fly off in her rig. She don't have the official paperwork so she ain't in their system. Or iff'n you fly off in mine, I can bring you back, help y'get it fixed, and she can take him -" she gestured to Talon - "wherever he needs t' go. Or iff'n we all wanna see this place, we meet up at a ron-day-voo point later. See? All's you gotta do is keep it cool." She smiled broadly. "To the Imperials later, it looks like we done everything by the book. Maybe a charge from th' station here iff'n we don't find quite the right palm to grease, but I doubt they really care. An' iff'n we do find that right somebody, we get away with glowing remarks 'bout how we were excellent pilots with well-maintained ships an' full compliance."

Just as Melai was about to take up on the Xeian's sudden decision of having it land its spaceship just outside the office, the woman with the android - which apparently was named Iarbas, although Melai thought it rather unusual to name androids, since he mostly just considered them moving pieces of junk - suggested another way to get out. And surely, Melai knew that her idea of bribing and smooth-talking their way out of the starport and into getting the Rey fixed would have been far more into his liking and would have called considerably less attention to themselves. And it would have been the best course of actions - if Melai had not been something that was even more important to the Empire to hunt down than the insectoids. But, now that he thought it over, there was maybe a way he could trick and talk his way through the situation after all - he just needed to direct his efforts towards another target.

"Wait here a minute," Melai told the others, "I'll see if I can convince the the woman behind that fine little desk to give us a permit." Not waiting for an answer from any of them, he went over to the desk and leant against it on his elbow, looking confidently at the woman. "Hi there, little you," he said with a smile and a flattering voice, "I'll need your help a little. It would seem that my ship crashed just outside of this spaceport and was damaged quite a bit in the process..."
"I'm sorry, sir," the woman interrupted him, "But the office has cancelled all services due to recent reports of smugglers. You will have to wait."
"Look, I didn't want this to get out," Melai continued, his mind racing to find a way to convince this person to help him, "But I'm in a terrible rush, so I will let you in on a secret anyways: I'm an officer in the Imperial fleet, little you, and I really need to get on with my business. Surely you could make an exception for me?"
"An officer in the fleet?" the woman repeated rather doubtfully, letting her gaze run up and down Melai as she looked at his rather filthy and non-military garnments, "In that case, I am sure you could prove your rank to me, since you all have your holo-tags to prove such claims."
"Of course I do," Melai said with a chuckle, "But... oh, it seems I forgot my tag on my ship. How clumsy of me! But I can prove it another way."
The woman arched an eyebrow at him. "Oh?"
Without saying another word, Melai took a deep breath and stretched out his arm towards the woman, pointing with his index- and middle-finger at her chair. Soon, he felt the familiar pressure on the inside of his skull as his brainfunctioning doubled, and then doubled again, continuing the process repeatedly as the electric current in his head increased and created more powerful electromagnitic fields around him. Manipulating those fields as he had taught himself over the years, despite missing the specialized training of the Imperial coaches, those fields directly interferred with gravity in a small area... and before all of their eyes, as Melai raised his hand while keeping his arm stretched, the chair, and the woman sitting on it, started levitating from the ground. Hearing the woman's satisfying gasp as she realized her own changing position, Melai just lifted her a foot over the ground before putting her down again.
"Certainly you are aware that anyone outside the Imperial fleet with telekinetic abilities are instantly targeted for termination, right?" Melai pointed out once the woman seemed to have gained some measure of self-control, "And since I am alive, how could I not be from the Empire?"
"Right, right, I'm sorry," the other panted, her eyes now flickering as she typed something on her computer with insane speed, "There you go, you have been granted a flying permit, officer. I am sorry to have delayed you! Please bring your vessel here, and our staff will do the repairs - free of charge, of course!"
"Thank you," Melai nodded, turning away, "In that case, I will return shortly."

Walking back to the group, Melai grinned at Harper. "Was that more to your liking?"

The English Kitty Ninja
It was several hours later, and half a container used up just so that the micro-organisms can reproduce, Shadow-claw arrived back at the mercenary house. He walked up to the counter, where the man was about to say that he was hired by another person. The Silencer slammed the walkie-talkie down again. "No thanks, mate... I was hired a long time ago... Now, if you don't mind... I'm heading over to my new contractor..." And with that, he turned and walked out of the building, never to return.

30 minutes later, and half of what's left in the container used already, the Silencer was within a mile of his ship when he heard the terrible sound of a group of Ori naerby. He crept over to see several of the fearsome beasts, sinking their teeth into a decapitated Silencer. Walking back as quietly as possible, Shadow-claw stepped onto a twig, snapping it in half. The Ori, noticing that there was something nearby, and most likely food, charged towards him. The Silencer raised one of his claws and slahed at one of them, cutting the top of its head off. He then turned and sprinted in the direction of his ship, the rest of the Ori following him. One of them managed to spit their acidic saliva at his shoulder, melting away at the organisms and his shell. Cringing at the pain, he continued to sprint, his legs burning from the fatigue.

He arrived at the clearing where he landed his ship. He gets inside the ship just before the Ori arrived at the clearing. Panting heavily, he started the ship and took off, although one of the Ori managed to spit at the ship, damaging the hull. Cursing that the vile roaches, Shadow-claw turned to the portal that was in front of him, and directed his ship into the docks, near where Captain Emerson was. Landing in the available spot near the captain, he got out of the ship and walked up to Emerson. "I'm back with my ship. Is there anyplace within your ship that I can dock it? I'll dock in your ship after we leave the planet." he spoke, lathering his shoulder with the tree sap so that the micro-organisms can reproduce on his shoulder again.

Harper stood back a bit, watching Melai closely. As the receptionist began to levitate, her jaw dropped. The 'droid, however, gave a soft beep, displaying the message as a warning: Electromagnetic disturbance detected ahead. Please proceed with caution. This I-E-34 unit is equipped with shielding to protect from magnetic forces.

However, she didn't look down to the 'droid's holographic display. Instead as he walked back over she continued to gape, and brought her hands together as if to clap before stopping just before making a noise and letting them drop to her sides. "Well, I'll be damned, that's a real fancy trick," she said in pure awe before letting her gaping turn into a wide grin. "Tha's what I'm talkin' 'bout! I knew you could do it," Harper said beamingly. "An' a fine job, too. I owe you a drink once we get off this rock. Now... they're fixin' yer ship, or should we ask fer parts an' run out an' do the repairs ourselves? I'm pretty handy with a flexwrench. ...well, when Iarbas gives me th' diagrams an' instructions, anyhow."

"Thank you," Melai chuckled and bowed as if to an audience, "I usually try to avoid using the jedi-shit unless I'm forced into a situation when it's necessary, but I thought that it'd be effective as a means of persuading the receptionist, too. And secondly, now you know why I'm being hunted by the Empire... well, aside from being an outlaw. They really don't like when people with telekinetic powers refuse to join their ranks." He paused for a moment, looking from one to the other of his three new companions. "My guess is that if we moved the Rey in here, the Imperial soldiers would probably recognize it - they were the ones who messed it up in the first place, after all. So I think we'll take the parts with us to the Rey, fix it on the spot and get the heck out of here before a swarm of Hunters come to blow my ass away."

After quickly having gone over to the woman behind the desk, Melai returned to the group. "She said that she understood once I had explained her how my ship was 'helplessly stuck in a swamp-area', and now their mechanics are finding the parts for us. They just need to know which ship to load it onto, and we can be on our way. So..." He turned to the Xeian. "Can your ship carry some cargo?"

"I, uh... I'm Harper, and that there's Iarbas,"
The woman had finally answered the question she had asked before. The electronical animal shoved dutifully its model name and technical information.
The Xeian wondered what was the use of a such kind of thing. Most of things that such thing could possibly provide, such as certain information she needed, could be provided by the ship she had.
So it was a sort of companion, nothing more? Or perhaps the part that they had always let only one thing fill, humans had divided into two, which seemed impractical to her at one point, but so was letting a full spaceship follow yourself for the sake of not feeling so alone and alien, she was forced to admit.
So, yes, it might have some purpose after all.
One another odd thing she noticed, was that though she assumed the droid was a personal kind of thing, it seemed to almost respond to her question, without its owners permission... But Zet'kil throw the thought from her head almost immediately. It was probably simply a response to Harper mentioning its name and verbally pointing to it.

She tried to listen intently, what the woman said, but it proved to be hard for her, since she had only the basic knowledge of human language(s?) and not much of about different accents, besides some shortened forms of words.
She was sure she had got something wrong.
"Was all this boat smashing people with spaceships an running off?" had the woman said, or at least that was what she thought she had heard.
"Smas-k'hing people with ships?" She muttered, again placing an unneeded letter in a word. "But no-one is smashed yet, at least not now and close here..."
The ship outside confirmed her words.

She covered her face with all four hands. No use of even trying to listen to her right now. She better simply records the speech and lets the computer on the ship get the hang on this later.
Should work out better than be here and become overly confused.

"Wait here a minute, I'll see if I can convince the the woman behind that fine little desk to give us a permit."
Permit? Permit for what? The Xeian lifted her head again. The man who said this, and to who she had talked earlier had went to the table further away.
He told the woman there something about the ship. That was almost to be expected, of course. Then, he again did something which made Zet'kil attentive- called himself to be Imperial Officer. She knew he wasn't so It had to be a trick of some kind... And how is he meaning to prove it, the thing he had just said?

Something even more noticeable happened- As he seemingly only stretched out his hand, the chair the woman was sitting on was lifted a feet in air, before it landed on the ground again.
Well, It wasn't uncommon for Xeian things to simply levitate in air, to be honest, it was expected in case of many things that when one placed them on thin air, they also stayed there, instead of giving off to gravity. The ship she used floated for example, unless it went to "rest" state, when three legs stretched out and connected it with the ground below it.
But this chair... It obviously had no technology needed for it installed...
She quickly ordered the ship to let her know about any recent anomalies in order to know how and by what had this been caused by. Detected minor electromagnetical field. That simple message was followed by exact time, duration and facts about the creating circumstances.

Zet'kil was almost impressed. Who would guess that part (As the man mentioned that not all have the ability) of such a simple race had developed telekinetic abilities. Of course, there were others who had means of controlling things like that, and it had taken that some effort to make their own technology proofed against such forces.
But humans? Humans? She would have guessed that those hydrogen-based beings were incapable of doing it, for simply because of what the consisted of.
It was certainly an important bit of information.

Also, It impressed the other human, who even promised to give them some things for free. And also the woman, who, was now talking in a way that was understandable even to her. Although she wasn't exactly sure how could she knew about his ability before he showed it- Zet'kil guessed that it might have something to do with their conversation earlier.

"Like I said, I'd like to think that I am quite skilled when it comes to different kinds of technology, so I might be of great help when you decide to repair the ship on your own. I am almost sure I either know how the things work, or can quickly enough figure it out. I don't intend to insult anyone, but of what I know, your technology seems to be more... Primitive, than ours."

"She said that she understood once I had explained her how my ship was 'helplessly stuck in a swamp-area', and now their mechanics are finding the parts for us. They just need to know which ship to load it onto, and we can be on our way. So... Can your ship carry some cargo?"
"Depends on the size of it... I think I can empty the lower cargo hold. And, when there is a lot of it, there is always the possibility to come back for the rest."
The ship was meant for five at most, (At least when to talk staying in there for longer time than just a few hours.) and she was alone, so there still was indeed some free room on it, not to mention that while developing, things seemed usually to go smaller, so the same space which in older ships was filled with things needed to get the thing moving could be freed, to be used to whatever purpose needed.

Harpalyce clapped her hands and grinned. "Ah, now it's all comin' together. Th' Lady Be Good can't hold much -" She gestured at a small ship off to the side, a tiny skiff with a cargo hold of about twenty-five by twenty feet at the most - "but she can hold enough." She motioned to the group to lean in, dropping her voice again.

"I tell you what we do. We split up th' parts, yer ship take some, I'll take the rest. An' I'll bring you - " she pointed at Talon, here - "along with me. Pr'tend I hired y' as a shiphand or sommat. We're all wantin' to get off this rock, right?" She didn't wait for confirmation before she nodded, grinning widely as she ran a hand over her short hair, ruffling it up. "We take th' parts out there, fix up th' ship, an' then we slip away from them once we're all fixed up. Jes' pick up an' go. They won't give a damn iff'n you feed 'em some bullshit 'bout havin' to be on your way with official business, an' like you said, get outta here 'fore they blast us outta the sky." Harpalyce pulled back, pulling on her vest in a self-satisfied manner. "That way we all gets to come 'long. Howsabout it?"

Talon simply watched as his new paid benefactors began to make plans. It seemed he was just going to be the money for this little group, and there would be little else for him to do. He had thought he would perhaps be the businessman of the group but that hardly seemed necessary. As one of those besides the man he had originally bargained with offered to take her in her ship he just shrugged. Her dialect was horrible, but she seemed to be a good sort of person. Someone he could get along with should it come down to being friends with these individuals.
" I don't really care which one of you takes me where. As long as the final plan is to get me off this rock and into space somewhere less dangerous and more entertaining. Whichever of you is willing to take me shall be paid, as shall the rest of you. I can get your ship repaired Melai, and money to the rest of you. Other than that, I doubt I shall be good for much else."

He had managed to shake much of his nervousness. Although some of his current company made him slightly uneasy it wasn't enough to reduce him to the frightened fool he had been moments before. He recognized that he was that way, but it didn't mean he could do anything about it.
"I mourn that which may have been but will never be."
