Standing and waiting for a reply Talon nearly leaped out of his skin as another insectoid entered the room. His first glance at the thing sent his eyes back to the woman at the counter in a hurry. He didn't want to attract attention to himself if he didn't have to, every insectoid on the damn planet probably wanted to kill him.
Waiting impatiently as usual his relief was obvious as the woman finally stopped playing with her computer to answer him.
"There are no ships accepting passengers currently. There are none leaving the planet, do to a suspected smuggler the space port has been closed down temporarily. You are welcome to take a room in town and await the next passenger vessel. If you leave a way we can contact you notification will be given at the next opening for departure."

Frustrated Talon held up the card that was the control for his bank account. The numbers were flashing across it at a steady speed, and in the several minutes that he held the clear card up the large number didn't repeat itself. Nearly three minutes of one solid number crossed the card before it finally flashed his identification and started again.
"What is it going to take for you to get me a ride off this planet? I can't stay here another day."
Looking at him carefully the women pursued her lips and went as if to hit a button under the counter. It was a threat, she hadn't actually done it but he was sure she would give the need.
"Try to bribe me again sir and I shall call security and have you removed."

Stepping back from the counter in a hurry he held up his hands in a sign of peace.
"Fine I'm done, probably for good."
The whole damn room had seen him flash that card and it hadn't worked. It always worked to flash the dollar sign. Dammit what was happening to the world when you couldn't bribe your way off some backwater planet.

With obvious fear Talon made his way for the door. Shaking his head in denial the entire way, barely paying attention to anything within the room. His head was starting to hurt, and with his luck he was about to have another seizure.

(I'm not sure who's talking to who. So Talon is just ignoring his surroundings, if someone is talking to him they will have to get his attention.)

Looking from the alien that called itself a Xein or Xian or whatever, and the woman that had just offered her help out of nowhere, Melai sudden felt overly fortunate that he could find someone who were willing to help him so quickly, even if the specimens were as remarkable as this Xeian-creature, and especially now, since he had just overheard the woman behind the desk in the office report to the nervous man that the spaceport was temporarily shut down due to a smuggler... Melai thought for a moment that it could have been him who had caused all of that commotion, but on second thought his crimes were worse than smuggling, so they would probably not report him as such. He did notice that the nervous-looking man was sufficiently desperate to attempt to bribe the woman, too, and he instantly saw that as an opportunity to make some quick cash.

"Thank you," Melai nodded towards the two strangely helpful people, "I would very much like a lift to my ship, yes. And in order to make it operational again, I will either need a mechanic that can repair my old impulse-booster or replace it, and to fix a pair of regular fusion-fueled engines. There is more things wrong with it, but I will look at that at a later date."

Signalling for the woman and the alien to wait, Melai ran over to the nervous-looking man and gestured that he should stop. "I couldn't help to notice that you're trying to get off this planet, eh? Well, it just so happens that I am, too. I have a spaceship and a safe place to go to, but I need money to pay for help in getting the ship moving - and you seem to have the latter, but lack the two first things. So, I would suggest that we help each other out. I'll get you off this chunk of rock and to a place where whoever you're hiding from would never think about looking. How about it?"

Jerking aware suddenly at the sound of the man's voice Talon spun on his heels with sudden speed. He was light on his feet even if he was completely useless normally. Trying as best as he could to drop the nervous demeanor that had overtaken him lately Talon extended his hand. Trying with obvious failure to smile as he did so, hoping that he hadn't failed as he thought he had.
This man's offer was one he hoped he could take. A human and seemingly a competent one with a wrecked ship so he could put him in his debt would be very useful. The only problem was ship repair would most definitely not be instant. Hand still extended Talon started to speak, using the businessman like voice his father had taught him. As nervous as he was it didn't come off as well as he would have liked however.
" My name is Talon Verseers, should money be able to repair your ship I will do so. I however have only two conditions. The first that you get me off this damned rock. The second being that you keep me alive while we are on it." Twisting his hands in a nervous manner and falling once again into nervous speech patterns he continued. "I believe I am in trouble with some of the locals, and I believe they would take my life given the chance. I need you to keep them from doing that. There is a little something extra in this if anything rough breaks out."

"I mourn that which may have been but will never be."

Accepting Talon's hand and shaking it, Melai could not help but to laugh at the notion that this person thought it would be a problem for Melai to avoid whatever trouble he was in. Obviously he had no idea that Melai had spent the past seventeen years fleeing from, avoiding and fighting the Imperial troops. To protect this man was a deal Melai could easily make... or at least he thought so. "I'm Melai Ketrom, and as long as you help me pay these nice people -" He gestured towards the woman and the Xeian. "- to repair my ship, I'll keep you alive and well. I may only be carrying around this old piece of junk, but I don't really need more than that." He patted the holster with his S&W in it confidently with his left hand.

"Well then, shall we get moving?" Melai said, this time addressing all of the three people that would be coming with him, "The sooner I get back to Terra Gamma, the sooner I can get my ship patched up properly. Good thing my starjump-drive is still intact!"

There is more things wrong with it, but I will look at that at a later date."
"I might be able to do it, but I have to take a look on the ship before I can say for sure."
Regular fusion-fuel? And was impulse booster the same thing she thought it was? Never mind. The things the local races used were mostly ancient, and she should know how to get them work. And if she doesn't... There are no things that can't be replaced with another, similar thing.

The man then made a some kind of gesture at her and the woman who had appeared from somewhere moments ago. It was more than possible that he wanted them to wait, since he went to speak another man, who introduced himself as Talon Verseers.

He said too, that he has "some trouble with the locals". Zet'kil already started wondering whether it wasn't a common thing for humans to fight against each other. It seemed strange, that the first two she saw were at odds with the others. It couldn't be uncommon, anyway. Maybe she had just discovered the actual reason why there were no humans on Earth when they had first investigated the planet, only ruins. That wasn't another alien race what nearly destroyed them. They had done it themselves.

Speaking of which... If things would get as far as firing each other, she doubted the opponent would let them have the time to search for the weapons. Grabbing hers with upper left hand, she placed the silvery, stick-lice thing on her lower right arm, where it attached itself with a quiet click. That was done now. She hoped she won't actually need it.

And they talked about paying to her. A little bit of local "money" wouldn't be bad, she guessed. Although, she didn't know what exactly she should do with it, or even whether there might be a case she actually needs something from here.
Predicting things was pointless, there was no means of knowing what there is in the future. No magic exists.

She took a look at the woman. She didn't know why it seemed so, but she had a strong feeling that she was staring at her on every free moment, despite of the fact that she seemed barely, if at all, noticing what she, Zet'kil herself was saying.
"Hello? My full name is Zet'kil-EX-Sket'la'naq'kna'te, but I am to be called Zet'kil, I am a Xeian. I have got ship too. SX-F6A. And... Who is this? Your mechanical friend?" She asked, motioning towards the droid with one of her four three-fingered arms.

"Well then, shall we get moving? The sooner I get back to Terra Gamma, the sooner I can get my ship patched up properly. Good thing my starjump-drive is still intact!"
"I am ready to go. We just have to decide with what shall we go to the ship. Both I and she (Meaning the woman, who didn't tell others her name.) have got smaller ships of our own, as far as I know. I don't know what type hers is, though."

As the man took his hand a moment of glee gave Talon some hope for his future. If he survived this he could go on to another planet and find treatment for whatever illness he had. Although the news of a homicidal illness would probably give the doctors, even doctors could be bribed. In his experience nearly anyone could be bribed. Obviously this philosophy failed him sometimes, but it seemed to have worked out in the end.
" I'll be happy to pay for the repairs, for your services, and for their services. I'll buy you a whole new fucking ship if that's what it takes. Although I'm not sure how we'd go about doing that. By all means though, let us go. You lead, I shall follow. I expect the men and insects I fear to be hiding outside."

Shifting to stand behind the man he carefully moved his hand closer to his knives. Nearly useless with them as a last resort he was actually hoping for a seizure to save his life. Perhaps then he would get away from this encounter. The idiot he had hired was carrying a ballistics weapon. Of course Talon was only carrying knives, but he didn't have a license for anything else. In fact he doubted he had the licensing necessary for those, nor the man licensing for his own weapon.

Just as the port technicians finished loading the cargo on board the Apollyon, Joshua became alert to a voice behind him. “That was a nasty way for one man to die, officer.” He turned around, and was surprised to see the large mantis-like insectoid that crept up on him, and now it was even making accusations? Preposterous. “I presume that you are Captain Emerson that the soldiers were talking about, after they killed the man. I guess you know the punishment for killing a man is, since you are a person willing to take risks like that.”
A smirk ran up hi face. The bug knew of the laws on the spaceport as well. "Indeed, I do." He replied. turning back towards his ship. "One must do what he must; what he thinks is right. And that doesn't necessarily fit in moral constraints."
He then turned back toward the bug. It irritated him that the thing was taller than him, and he had to look up to it. "But why am I discussing morals with a bug? I might as well talk about quantum physics with a cat."

Normally, he would have simply went past the nuisance. But something kept him in place. Perhaps, this particular bug might be of some use.

"Alrighty, then!" Melai nodded, briefly turning to the alien and the woman, "As for what ship we can use to get there, whichever is closest would be my first choice. The speed with which it flies really is of little importance... my ship is not far from the spaceport. I will show the way once we get in the air. Oh, and as for buying a new ship..." He turned back to Talon. "I'm afraid that is an option I would rather not have to use. You see, my home - Terra Gamma - is not exactly a mapped planet, nor is it something that is easy to find, which is what makes it such a good place to hide from whoever is after you. Actually it's more of a terraformed astroid, moving in an irregular pattern through several different star-systems. But the thing is, I can't find it either, but the computer on my ship has been programmed to trace its location at any time. So the Rey de los Muerte is really necessary to get there."

"And hey, we're four against them now," Melai shrugged, striding towards the door that lead to the street, "They won't be a problem. I mean, it's not like they're Imperial soldiers, after all."

"One must do what he must, what he thinks is right. And that doesn't necessarily fit in moral constraints. But why am I discussing morals with a bug? I might as well talk about quantum physics with a cat."

Shadow-claw nodded in agreement with that statement. “I know of these moral constraints. Many men believe that the insectoids maybe insolent and stupid towards all of mankind, but those men are wrong…” the Silencer spoke, hiding the anger for the insult. “… There are some insectoids in this universe that knows of these constraints. I’ve reached them myself, every now and again, when I’ve been hired by the humans to kill segments of my brethren.”

The bug side of him wanted to kill this Captain Emerson for being arrogant and cocky. However, his brain thought otherwise. If I kill this man… Shadow-claw thought, thinking about what to say next. I will fall to his level and disobey the city’s laws as well. I must show that I am not like the other insectoids. Plus the fact that if I kill him now, I would be hunted down by the crew until I am dead or I escape this planet. Even if I do leave the planet, what are the chances that I would be followed by the fleet that this Emerson is a part of? I would certainly die within a few weeks, maybe two months.

Seeing that Emerson had a look of annoyance on his face, the Silencer chuckled. “I guess that you are not a man that likes to look up at people, since you are a higher rank than your peers. Silencers have been known to be rather tall, taller than most humans. You don’t need to put your pride in place just because someone is taller than you.”

"Alrighty, then! As for what ship we can use to get there, whichever is closest would be my first choice. The speed with which it flies really is of little importance... my ship is not far from the spaceport. I will show the way once we get in the air."
"Mine should me somewhere near the entrance of this building- I actually asked it to follow me... Just in case." She glanced at the control. "Yes. It still is only a few meters from the doors, five meters above the ground." She said, inspecting the thing a little closer. "As for the speed, It depends largely on which set of engines the ship is currently using." That was true- The ship had three stets of engines, even when one didn't count the thing what kept it in air and moving right now.

"Oh, and as for buying a new ship..." He turned back to Talon. "I'm afraid that is an option I would rather not have to use. You see, my home - Terra Gamma - is not exactly a mapped planet, nor is it something that is easy to find, which is what makes it such a good place to hide from whoever is after you. Actually it's more of a terraformed asteroid, moving in an irregular pattern through several different star-systems. But the thing is, I can't find it either, but the computer on my ship has been programmed to trace its location at any time. So the Rey de los Muerte is really necessary to get there."
"There should be a way how to retrieve the information from the ships computer, isn't there? Or, technically if we can check where it is now, then my ship's computer should have the information about all large asteroids, stars and planets on it, since it largely helps with setting the coordinates for tunnel-jumps. Though it is ensured that there isn't anything exactly on the jump's way, of course... But still good to know that there isn't anything larger than the ship can blast away.
I haven't got a single idea which of the many asteroids might be Terra Gamma, though, even when I do look at the plans on my computer, since we named the things our own way long before we even visited the galaxy for the first time."

"And hey, we're four against them now, they won't be a problem. I mean, it's not like they're Imperial soldiers, after all."
"Why would "Imperial Soldiers" be so much worse than anyone else?" That she asked out of curiosity as much as she thought the knowledge might have some value to her. Logical answer would be that they were possibly heavily armed, maybe many in numbers, but how should she know without asking? It couldn't hurt anyway, when she wanted to know, she guessed.
"I can order the ship to land right by the door- they would have to move out of the way, in case they are still there and don't want to be crushed under it..."
That was also true. The thing listened to her, and only her, whatever she asked. Of course, she could ask it simply to shoot, but she doubted it would be so good idea on crowded street. She didn't want all the humans on her tail, when it could be avoided. Of course, she wouldn't be so reluctant to use the lesser weapon connected to her arm, when needed. It wouldn't draw nearly so much attention on her.
A thought can create a world, but only a word written down can ensure its existence.
