We can, and we will. This meeting is over, we have told you what you need to know, and as we converse, we are taking care of Melai's debt. Now go... and bring us the artifact from Earth!
"As you say..." Zet'kil gave up. "I will just be alone with my wondering what it was..."
She still suspected this kind of thing was impossible, or that the insectoid won't use the right means to reach his goal... She will just send a note and cope with it. And she will go to Earth, even if to find out what the thing what Retzaan wanted was. If it is something completely wrong, than it can be dealt with later. Perhaps not worrying before she had the thing close enough to investigate it was indeed the best way of doing things.
When the object was really dangerous... It would be better when it was them who found it, not someone with worse intentions, after all.

She watched as Retzaan took himself apart again and vanished into every single hole the room had in it. Only the one ant who was meant to accompany them was left.
"...Who's coming?" Melai asked them. "Knak'lt. I am. Whatever purpose the thing on Earth has, I am." She replied, adding another odd clicking sound in the beginning of her reply.

She then turned to follow Lya in the elevator. The Telkran had mentioned something trying to get away from the planet, when something shook the building... No wonder, when taking the amount of spacecraft wrecks what lied in the docking area into consideration. When it still interests her later, she can simply ask her ship, but otherwise, as long as anyone didn't try to touch her ship (or the larger ship it was in) she was fine, despite of the numerous warnings and other information the control on her lower left hand constantly displayed- It truly was not her concern.

“Excellent,” Derth said grinning. “Display the full cargo manifest for me, visual readout.” Even though he spoke, the wetling translated his command into the proper format for the ship’s computer to process. Obediently, a list, written in his language, appeared. Pleased with himself, Derth rubbed his clawed hands together. The last item in particular piqued his interest: Planet Buster, count 1.

“What propels this vessel?” Derth asked, eager to discover why the engines of this ship looked so familiar.

“A class five Node Genesis and Utilization engine,” The computer responded, again speaking Derth’s native tongue in his mind. Derth was stunned at this news.

“Node…Genesis?” He repeated. The rebuilders had been desperately seeking the secrets of spontaneous node creation for generations! And here he was, a fully capable starship with node creation capabilities at his beck and call! Even in the legends of heroes, a single hunter ensnaring such a prize was unheard of! The name of Derthadgan would be uttered with reverence and awe! He would be hailed as the greatest hunter of all his kind! Hunting guilds would be named in his honor! And of course, he would have difficulty picking but one mate from among all the females seeking the honor to wed one with his high standing.

But Derth stopped, he was getting ahead of himself. The hunt was not yet over, and wouldn’t be until he landed upon the surface of his home world once again. “Set a course for relative coordinates 23.5x-50.1y-93.4z.”

“Unable to comply. Engines are inactive while the Planet Buster is onboard.” The computer responded. Derth blinked at the computer’s sudden refusal.

“Why not?” Derth snarled after a moment.

“Engines are inactive while the Planet Buster is onboard.” The computer repeated unhelpfully. Derth snarled again, but soon quieted. The solution was relatively simple.

“Can the bay where the planet buster is kept be opened to space?” Derth asked.

“It can.” The computer replied.

“Then do so,” Derth commanded, “And lead me to the area with the planet buster.”

“Acknowledged.” The computer relpied. In Derth’s mind, a simple map of the ship appeared, leading him to the cargo bay with the planet buster. Derth activated his environmental shield, followed the instructions, and soon arrived at the room. In the center, sat the huge weapon the computer identified as the Planet Buster. There was indeed a large door open to empty space, but the room was still pressurized to Derth’s confusion.

“Why hasn’t the buster been vented yet?” Derth asked.

“A shield has been enacted to prevent atmosphere loss,” The computer replied.

“A shield?…What if I had some material I needed to transport?” Derth asked.

“The shield can be made permeable to solid matter,” The computer replied.

“Then do so,” Derth commanded. The open space in the huge doorway flashed briefly. Grinning, Derth pulled out a small remote from a pocket in his vest, and pressed a few buttons on it. He brought it up to his mouth and began growling commands into it. Outside, his ship carefully navigated alongside his new prize. Derth could see it beyond the open cargo bay. There was a small flash from his ship, and a small pod with a sturdy cable began reeling out from it. Small thrusters on the pod guided it into the cargo bay. When it came within the gravity field, it used thrusters to keep itself aloft. Derth growled more commands, and the pod flew forward and attached to the planet buster. The cable became taut, and with a scraping of metal, the Planet Buster was dragged out of the cargo bay and towards his ship. A deep gouge was left in the floor, cutting through the deck plating and causing a few sparks to shoot from a damaged wire. A mechanical arm from his ship reached out and grabbed the Planet Buster, and guided it into a cargo bay within the Howling Warg. Derth grinned again, and returned to the blank control room.

“Now will you proceed to the coordinates?” Derth asked.

“Explain this course of action.” The computer said. Derth swore a snarling oath.

“What do you mean! Obey my commands!” Derth growled menacingly.

“It is illogical. Explain this course of action,” The computer replied. Derth fell silent for a moment.

“This ship was found adrift,” Derth lied after a minute. “I need to return it to my home so the owner can be identified and found.”

“Acknowledged. Proceeding to coordinates.” The computer responded.

“Oh, and transmit the command to the other ship. Use this encryption,” Derth replied. Again the computer acknowledged. Flying in neat formation, the two contrasting ships began moving for the coordinates, toward open space.

Shadow Claw was oblivious to the entire conversation, while the numbing pain from his shoulder giving him a major migraine. However, as the following medics had come to his aid, and patched his cracked exoskeleton, the migraine started to fade away. As soon as it had disappeared, he concentrated on the conversation that was on hand. And we will. This meeting is over, we have told you what you need to know, and as we converse, we are taking care of Melai's debt. Now go... and bring us the artifact from Earth! The Silencer remained quiet, as he remembered the last time that he was on Earth. Shortly after the Mind had dissipated from the room, Melai had turned around, and had asked if anyone was coming with him to get this artifact from Earth.

As soon as Lya had made her mind up, and made her intentions known, the insectoid had made his mind up. “As a mercenary under Lya’s command, I too shall come with you to Earth, and acquire this artifact that Retzaan asks us to obtain. I have, like some of us here, visited Earth before, and I know the general layout of the planet. If I am correct, and the location of the artifact is in the place where I have been before, then I will be able to guide everyone to the place where the object is near. Not only that, but I will be able to help out defend the group, which my contract states.” Unknown to the group, the Silencer was not going to reveal that this was the planet that he grew up in, and had studied all of those tactics. If he had presumed correct, then the first place that the object was, and the one that came to Shadow Claw’s mind, was the library.

As he followed Lya and one of Melai’s allies, a shockwave shook the building, with parts of a weapons platform flying into the large room via windows. The Silencer hoped that the Cosmic Hunter was not damaged during the time that he was on Terra Gamma. He had been the captain of the ship for god knows how long, and he did not want it to be destroyed without his presence within 100m of his beloved ship. Dreading the worst possibility, he walked into the elevator, and stood behind Lya, and watched over the group that was in this building.

Emerson was just about to speak when an officer came rushing through the door. The guards at the sides let him in, probably due to the apparent hurry.
"-Captain Emerson! Captain Emerson!" He shouted.
"This better be important." Joshua answered.

The officer stopped a few feet from the table and snapped a salute ad stood at attention, still out of breath.
"- Captain Emerson, sir. The guests have assaulted personnel and left the ship. Nemesis was powerless to stop them for some reason."
The captain's eyes widened after the last sentence as he slowly rose from the table. He slowly turned his gaze to the Grekk ambassador.
"I beg your pardon, but I must be excused. The ship has been compromised." He motioned to one of the guards. "This man will take you to your quarters or the docking bay, as you see fit. We must postpone this audience."

He nodded to the admiral, then turned around, and walked out of the chamber led by the officer.
"Report." He said once the great ornate doors closed behind them.
"- Two individuals, one male, one female. They left their quarters, and assaulted the security personnel that was trying to detain them. One of our men died in the assault. They then headed for the docking bay and left the Apollyon."
"What? No sentries opened fire? I will have to consult Nemesis on this."

Suddenly, the AI's voice could be heard from a nearby speaker.
"It wasn't my fault, captain. The female did something to my circuitry. By the time I repaired the damage, they were long gone. I am terribly sorry."

Emerson stopped suddenly and began rubbing his temple.
"So it turned out to be a waste of time." Heaving a sigh, he continued. "Then we will proceed with our main objective. Set a course to rally with the rest of the fleet, at the Sol system. I am done dealing with these interlopers."

As enthuiastic as he was about going to Earth on what could prove to be the greatest adventure during his entire career as a venturer of the unlimited void of space, it all vanished from his mind instantly when the shockwave caused the ground to quake, and he noticed the explosion in the direction of the spaceport. He was pretty sure that he had programmed the Rey to open fire at anything except their little group if they approached, but if another ship attacked it, or if someone used long-range weaponry...
"Son-of-a-bitch!" Melai hissed, rushing into the elevator and starting to press the button that sent the elevator to ground level manically, "I swear, if those bastards as much as put a scratch on the Rey, I'll kill them!"

"I swear, if those bastards as much as put a scratch on the Rey, I'll kill them!"
"Highly unlikely." Zet'kil said almost uncaringly, as she watched how Melai tried desperately to get the elevator to move downwards as fast as it could. "I would have known if something was to hit my ship, or yours, as it is where mine is placed in." She assured him, lifting her the lover left arm equipped with the ship's control higher once again.
Partially she understood why he lost his patience when there was this shooting outside. Unlike her, he did not know whether it was something connected with his ship or not. She'd be very unnerved when she didn't know such simple thing anymore herself, as she had known that for the full of her life and apparently got too used to it all- That she has got a ship and she knows where it is or what is happening with it. She would never tolerate someone ruining the thing that had been a very important part of her life, even aside from the the fact that when something happened to her ship, such as it being damaged beyond all repairs, she might never get the chance to reach the Xeian community once again, although there was a chance that someone comes to search for her once it happens. Better when it doesn't even get close to that situation.

For the biggest part of the conversation Theyr had just enjoyed the pleasure of the pain in her body, emanating from the two major wounds she had sustained in the previous battle. Even if the joy was abated a little by the simple fact that the ones pampering her were human bastards, and, even worse, human bastards who did not seem to be terrified by the view of one of her race at all, the feeling was just too pleasant not to devote oneself to it. It had been years and years that someone other than her had cared for her injuries. Not that she would have allowed someone to, it was just the idea for itself that was somehow… agreeable. She had nearly forgotten the good deed of just relaxing with the knowledge that someone cared for the own comfort.

However, when the loose words reaching her head finally arranged in an order that made somehow sense to her, the relaxation was soon to fade. The earth? This freak wanted them to invade the Earth? The Earth was home to relatively many insectoids of all kinds; according to her knowledge most of them idealistic fanatics and barbaric fundamentalists, trying to live the same way as a few generations ago when the first indication of intelligence was said to settle in the minds of the bugs they had been back then. The idea alone was enough to make Theyr wanting to throw up.

And yet she’d go. If what she had caught in the state of dozing she had been in before was correct, the Mind had said that an sole member of the little group (the fact that she had just thought of herself as a part of a group including humans made Theyr feel like ripping one of them apart) was useless to him. Theyr knew that she was nothing special, certainly not special enough for the Mind to have a justified interest in her as an individual. The only thing she had ever learned and ever been able to do was killing. Her former wounds alone were proof enough that Retzaan had enough of her kind serving under him already. Without the aid of a rainmaker her life on a planet of outlaws would be short, harsh an unpleasant. It seemed as if she’d have to stand Melai’s – and Lya’s – presence for a little longer than she had hoped.

"Well," Melai said with a shrug, "I guess we're headed to Earth next, then. Who's coming?"

“Comin”, Theyr answered with a morose smile. “Unfortunately.” She shook her head, sent the humans who had treated her wounds a scowling glare and followed Melai.
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

Accepting Lya's arm through his he nodded once at her and continued to walk. Smilling slightly at her as his guards watched them warilry, if possible they were even less trusting than Talon himself was, and by that point he trusted no one.
" For all intents and purposes Lya, it probably does concern us. If we are to have business here everything that happens concerns us. The flow of business concerns us in every way, even if we are in control for now. Beside the fact, how do you know it isn't one of our ships taking fire. Melai certainly seems to think that it might be his."

Walking next to her he wasn't really that worried. Just up ahead he would be able to get his mercenaries better equipped, maybe even get some shields like his on them. With them equipped like that he wasn't really worried about whatever they would find on Earth. The downside to heading to that waste of a planet was the obvious danger, and the fact that he couldn't call in reinforcements from there. Melai was in the process of screaming about how he was going to kill someone, and Talon simply watched him go.
"You realize if they've actually hurt the Rey you'll probably just wind up victim to their ranged weapons as well don't you?"
"I mourn that which may have been but will never be."

"Stupidity is a wound that bleeds forever; Intelligence is a blade that stays forever sharp"

"An armed man will kill and unarmed man with monotonous regularity"

"Nothing adds a little class to a sniper course like a babe in a Ghillie suit."

"You have the rest of your life to solve your problems. How long you live depends on how well you do it."

"Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. I may get killed with my own gun, but he's gonna have to beat me to death with it, 'cause it's going to be empty."

The flow of business concerns us in every way, even if we are in control for now. Beside the fact, how do you know it isn't one of our ships taking fire. Melai certainly seems to think that it might be his."

That much was true, "However Talon, anything here that gets destroyed needs to be repaired. Repairs mean parts." A grin attached itself to her features. "I'm certain whatever is going on will not affect us that much. Retzaan would have stopped it if it did. And as Zet'kil mentioned, her ship would have notified her immediately if it was under attack. My ship is impervious to any weapons here, so no worries." She slapped his shoulder lightly, "We're about to embark on an adventure, and I am almost beginning to enjoy the idea."

Melai was frantically trying to speed up the elevator, as Zet'kil and Theyr made their way on board. It would appear everyone was coming to Earth. She herself was eager to get underway, but there didn't seem to be a time limit on their expedition. Finally, the doors opened and they were on their way to the ship berths. At least this time there didn't seem to be anyone wanting to kill them. As Lya rounded the corner however, it took a moment for what she saw, or rather what she didn't see to sink in. Her arm fell away from Talon's as she wandered closer to where her ship...wasn't. Perhaps she was mistaken, but no, there was Melai's ship, and there was Shadow Claw's ship. Between them however was nothing but space. A large empty space. Behind her a few blocks away was the smoking remains of a weapons platform, it's smouldering turrets aimed toward space.

She stopped walking, and for a time stared in utter disbelief. It was not possible. The shock was wearing off, and insanity took it's rightful place. She whirled on Talon, "You did lock the ship behind you when you followed me out? Surely humans aren't daft enough to leave a ship unlocked?" Small bits of rubbish and loose debris began to float aimlessly around her body." I can't believe I allowed myself to trust someone who can't even lock a ship." Her hands flew to her head in a panic as she tried to think coherently. Then she rounded on Melai, the items around her swirling in disarray. An eerie noise broke the silence as nearby ships began grating against the tarmac.

Her eyes were filled with maniacal panic, "I need my ship. I have to get it back. It is imperative." She couldn't keep up with the emotions flooding her senses in the human form. Reverting to her natural state was no better however. She had never been confronted with anything as major as this. Suddenly realising she couldn't even get home, she short circuited. Her sparkling golden hazed cloud fell inert to the ground.

They were soon on the streets again and despite the fact no-one seemed to want to attack them this time, Zet'kil was still constantly looking around which made her appear perhaps a little more nervous than she really was. Maybe Retzaan had really made them all forget for now.
She stopped for a second and lifting her head a little higher and turning it by about 180 degrees she looked back to the tall building they had just left. After a moment she seemed to remember herself again, so she turned her head back into a more natural position and was beside others again with a few relatively quick leap-like strides.

They soon turned around the corner which opened the full view over the docking/landing area for them.
Almost on the same moment, something seemed to happen with the Telkran. For a moment she almost seemed to froze on the spot, before she slowly wandered closer to something which appeared to be completely empty space at first sight. No, that was not just first sight. There really was nothing over there, neither cloaked nor visible.

For a moment or two the Xeian just stood there, following the Telkran's actions, confusion filling her head as she didn't understand what was so unnerving in this emptiness- How can nothing have such effect on someone? If not... If it is not something that is indeed not there. She moved her hand once again over her face as Lya stopped walking and just stared at the nothing for a while, disbelief and terror showing from the full of her.
That was true- Lya's ship was nowhere to be seen. She almost felt sorry for the other alien, instinctively moving her hand which carried the control of her own ship on it closer to her body, as if afraid that it might vanish into thin air on the next moment, along with her small SX-type ship placd inside the Rey.

The Telkran was now frantically trying to make Talon tell her whether he had locked the ship or not, as if she was hoping that the fact would change anything. What was gone was... Well... Gone. The only thing they could really do was to try to find it again, whoever was the one who took it in the first place... She can ask her own ship if it had detected something... It was the least she could do for the other lifeform who was unmistakably in panic and trying to get along with the knowing that something so very important to her was simply gone, even when she had been so sure nothing here could harm her ship only a few minutes before.

The next moment something quite unexpected happened. When the other alien took back her natural shape of golden sparkly cloud, she suddenly fell down, leaving Zet'kil staring at her quite helplessly, trying to cope with the idea that one of her companions had just turned into something that was no more than a thin layer of dust on ground.
She didn't think she was 'dead', but rather something more close to being unconscious or something like that. Maybe she will even wake up again by herself if given enough time. But in the other hand, she was not too sure in that either. Maybe she should do something. She was simply not sure what.
Completely at a loss, she made a half-circle around what was now left of the Telkran, careful to not step on it or even touch it in any way, as she was not sure what might happen when she did that. She just had no idea what should she do about someone who did no longer respond in any way and was not even coherent enough to lift off the ground.
Not knowing what to do she tried setting her many hands- as it suddenly seemed there was very many of them, although there were only the usual four- in many different positions, from having all four crossed to finally letting all of them fall limply to the sides, as she continued staring at what had been the Telkran only moments ago.
